We highly recommend K2.
Description of Work: Kate you build a deck for us this spring. The sales presentation was extremely informative. Their staff really knows their stuff. I was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. Took him about four weeks to get started on the project but the job is complete in four days. Our deck has added a ton of value to the yard we wish we had contacted K2years ago. We had two other providers out to bid the job. K2's price was right in the middle and I think the value was by far the best.

It went very well.
Description of Work: I highly recommend K2 Custom Decks. A + In May I requested estimates from four contractors that I found on Angie’s List, to replace my 19 year old deck, which was showing major signs of rot, with a new cedar deck. 416 Square feet of deck, 35 linear feet of six foot high lattice privacy screening, three steps off the front side, four steps off the back side and 26 linear feet of railing. One contractor was already scheduled out to fall. Down to three. Tony from K2 Custom Decks did an excellent job of describing the end product. K2 uses kiln dried cedar, the other two did not say anything about the quality of cedar they used. K2 does not notch the 4X4 post at the deck, the other two said they notch the 4X4 at the deck. The notched 4X4s was one of the major points of rot in the old deck. K2 would have the ends of the deck boards exposed and put a trim board around the deck under them. With the old deck the ends of the deck boards was behind a trim board and the second major point of rot. Bill’s crew, Jessie, John and ? arrived one day before estimated start date. There were a few rain delays but still finished on the estimated finish date 12 July 2017. The finished deck looks just like what Tony described. I am very happy with the end results. Bottom line, the estimates were: $13,740.00, $12.992.00, and $11,894.00. I went with the one that described the best end product. K2 Custom Decks at $11,894.00.

Description of Work: Had our Bathroom redone (new flooring, tub, tub surround, scrap ceiling). Only ordered half of all tile, had to wait for rest. Subs that showed up to work, smoked in our garage after being told Not to. Tile guy showed up very hungover and reeking of cigs. Project went over in number of days expected. And after all that brain damage with it being our ONLY bathroom, we have to now have the tub taken up due to being installed wrong to prevent further damage to the new acrylic soaking tub. The new linoleum flooring has cuts in it due to a shotty install job that the floor now will look like crap. The subfloor was also not extended under the new tub, as the foot print is narrower than the old tub. So there is now a dip in the floor that is 3 inches in front of the tub and collects water. Water also collects horribly along back wall of the tub where it meets the tile. Since the tile guy was drunk, the tiles are crooked on the wall of the tub surround. Many places where there is grout missing between the tiles also. The project manager can't caulk correctly if his life depended on it.
I had pretty solid vision of what I wanted done before we started but decided to work with a general contractor such as K2 to help manage all the scheduling, permit coordination, etc. It was well worth the extra overhead. K2 brought very skilled contractors to the project, and I likely would have not gotten the same quality if I'd tried to find my own resources. The professionalism, workmanship was exceptional. Chad offered some great suggestions during the design & shopping phase, which was helpful. Great communication throughout the implementation. Jon was always available, responsive and often onsite daily throughout project and stayed on top of every detail. I was most pleased at the end with how committed they were to making sure all punch list items were handled to our satisfaction. This wasn't our first remodel or experience with a general contractor and I know that at the end, their interest tends to wane and they often turn punch list items into extra costs. Not at all the case with K2. They seemed to be as excited about the project and a happy completion as we were. Painful as remodeling can be this was overall a very positive experience and we absolutely love the results. Pricing was not cheap, but was very competitive - and very appropriate given the quality.
Description of Work: Master bathroom remodel which included a complete revamp of entire footprint, rough in of new shower/bath area, custom tile, custom cabinets, heated floor, new electrical/lighting, relocation of venting. Also a side project to install custom cabinets and relocate dryer in laundry area.

This project is pretty amazing! We just posted some of the photos of it on our website. Thanks again for your business Customer and thank you for sharing your experience with the Angie's list community. Talk soon
John, Steve and their associates and subcontractors were professional, prompt and treated the projects as if it were their own home. John stopped by on an almost daily basis throughout the course of the projects to ensure all was going well. He also offered occasional suggestions and modifications to the original proposals to make the best use of available space. He was very creative and has an impeccable eye for color and design. He spent many hours and drove many miles to locate sinks, tiles and hardware that met our specifications. All of the contractors involved in our projects were exceptionally polite, careful about the property and cleaned up the work areas at the end of each day. While any remodeling project is disruptive, these folks kept the inconvenience to a minimum. We can recommend K2 without reservations.
Description of Work: We originally discovered K2 at a home improvement show in the spring of 2011. After consulting with them and getting an estimate, we contracted with them for a remodel of the master bath in our 21 year old town home. While our master bath was functional, it was dated and lacked storage space. The project included removing a rarely used bath tub and original shower, adding storage space and enlarging the shower area. It also included a new tile floor and a granite vanity top as well as updated lighting and mirrors. We were so pleased with the finished project, we contracted with them again in the fall of 2012 for a kitchen remodel and updating the guest bath. Again, the project included new sinks, granite countertops and updated lighting. The kitchen remodel also included the installation of slide out cupboards in the pantry. We also had K2 paint the entire interior of our home.

We were interested in redoing the shower in the master bathroom, so we contacted K2 Bath Design. Originally we were just interested in replacing the tile floor of the shower - mostly because it looked bad from the way the previous homeowners tried to patch repair it, not because anything was actually wrong with it. However, Chad from K2 came out and gave us several other remodel options that would be possible if we were interested in taking it a step further (since the shower was already going to be ripped apart). He was very knowledgeable and he was willing to take as much time as necessary to explain the different proposals. He also had many sample tiles on hand to show us, as well as his laptop so he was able to provide us with estimates on the spot. Since we were trying to decide between 3 different options, he gave us an estimate for all three options. Unfortunately, given the other housing issues we had at the time/still currently have, the bathroom remodel took a backseat to the other issues, so we did not hire K2. We would definitely consider resuming where we left off with K2 when the time is right to tackle the project.

The project manager, Stphen Clark, was very thorough and clear during the visit where we did the planning and estimate. He provided a number of options for materials and design features and was very flexible with regard to our specific requests such as faucet type and trim levels. Based on our visits from other vendors we were very happy with the service and price. The work was done in a very timely fashion and the trades people were very competent, pleasant to deal with and responsive to our questions and requests. We ran into a few unanticipated issues due to the way the bath was built originally but K2 had no problem addressing them. Overall a great experience. We are extremely pleased with the workmanship and overall results of the project.
Description of Work: Replaced a fiberglass shower stall with Onyx base and tile surround. Replaced laminate bathroom countertop with marble, new bowl, new fixtures.
K2 Bath Design was amazing to work with. We worked with Stephen (Small Bath Design, Project Manager), on getting an estimate, putting together our contract, and beginning the first phases of our project. We were pleasantly surprised how thorough he was (giving us the history of the company, making sure we were on the same page with our budget, expectations, timeline and scope of project). He was refreshingly open and honest on how to make our project work within our budget. Throughout the entire process, we always felt like he/K2 really wanted our business. It was great to plan out the project with him. He went way above and beyond our expectations. He even called to tell us ways we could save money. Stephen worked hard with our condo association and then the city to move our project forward. We ran into a road block with getting the city permits and meeting the city's requirements. Unfortunately, we canceled the project due to the city requiring us to compromise on elements of our project we weren't willing to do. K2 did everything in their power to make this project work, and would recommend K2 Bath to ANYONE looking for bath design professionals. We truly look forward to another opportunity to work with Stephen and K2 Bath Design.
Description of Work: The scope of the project was to expand our current bathroom. For our space, this meant taking down a wall that separated our shower and toilet from our sink area. Once the space was opened up, the floor would be re-tiled and a wall (with new door entry) would close off the new expanded space. Demolition: Pull-Up Flooring (carpet/tile) Take Down Wall (sheet rock/framing) Walls and Ceiling: Studwork Dry Wall, Tape & Mud Surface Finish (Textured Ceiling) Flooring Tile Electric and Lighting Standard Light Switches (moving location) Move floor heater location Millwork and Carpentry Interior Doors (bi-fold for closet and hallow core for entry) Refurbish and Reinstall existing toilet

Met for an in-home estimate. Pricing was more than I was prepared to spend at the time, so decided against the project and am now seeking refund for the Big Deal that I purchased. Update: Angie's List refunded my money - they were great. Had a good in-home visit-he was professional and seemed knowledgeable at the time we met. However, decided not to pursue due to cost of the project being more than I wanted to spend - which was clear upfront - and receiving a competitive quote from my general contractor (who examined the bathroom and said he could get an onyx shower in the bathroom), despite not having a coupon. Still, I think K2 is likely charging a fair price for their work (these were the only two quotes I received). There are inaccuracies in K2's response to my review (made it clear upfront that the way the Big Deal was written was different than the way they intended it to read - though I believe this could've been an honest mistake on their part - and that would have an impact on my decision to move forward; no mention that I explained I'd be in touch after I thought more on the project and that I said it could be a while due to health issues of family members, etc.), but I believe they want to do a good job and care about their Angie's List grade (maybe a bit too much - gave them a B (in all walks of life a good grade) based on the reasons above - but leave that up to your determination).
Description of Work: Decided not to do business with them - pricing discrepancy from the Big Deal purchase

The member purchased a coupon for "$2000 off a standard Onyx system shower replacement." With the coupon, the net cost of this Onyx system is $4395 installed. The member let me know that the house he needed the work done on was currently under construction, that there were crews working there and that he would be pulling up shortly after our appointment time. When I arrived at the house (on-time) I pulled up to the front curb, called to let him know I'd arrived, left a voicemail, asked one of the workers if the member was around and decided to wait as requested. 15 minutes later he emerged from the house looking for me. Once in the house, we went back to the bathroom and I immediately saw that the shower he intended to replace was anything but standard. It was a 4 wall shower with a tiled ceiling panel and a pan of irregular dimension. I offered to honor the coupon on a tile shower system (which is more readily customizable). The final price I offered for this custom shower was $4913 ($519 more than the standard option and $2000 off the typical price). The member told me that he felt it was a good price and that he'd let me know. In the days to follow our appointment, I sent a follow up email as well as a follow up voicemail and never heard back from him. About 4 weeks later, Angie's List sent us the proceeds from the member's coupon purchase less their fees ($382). I then left the member another voicemail asking if he was ready to redeem his coupon. No response. I still have this money available for refund and am willing to work with Angie's List to get the entire amount ($400) refunded. But I can't do it for him. This is the first time I've heard from the member since our meeting! It is a shame to tarnish a nearly perfect record on Angie's List over this situation (we feel a B grade is equivalent to an F). We provided an exceptional consultative service for the member, lived up to our end of the bargin by demonstrating the flexibility to work with him despite the inapplicablility of his project to the coupon he purchased and we followed up with the member to make sure that his needs were addressed. Please disregard this review in your evaluation of K2 as a potential partner for your project.

We sat down with a representative and in one session we completely assessed the scope of the job, came up with a design, selected all materials and fixtures to be installed and agreed on a price for the project. All aspects of how the work would be completed was explained and a time line was established. The project proceeded as planned and was completed within 3 weeks. The crews were professional and very considerate of my daily routine throughout the project. Considering the limited space that the crews had to work in, I would have to say they did an excellent job of cooperating among themselves to accomplish this project. They had to tear down an existing room, dig up the concrete floor, install new plumbing lines, a custom ceramic tile walk-in shower, new walls and ceiling, all new fixtures, ceramic tile floor, and a ceiling with ventilation all to meet building code requirements. I now have a very nice affordable modern bathroom in my basement that meets the needs of my family.
Description of Work: We needed to completely redo a small bare necessities bathroom in a small area of the basement of a house built in 1951.
Chad and John did a fantastic job for us. Chad was professional and helpful during the quoting and planning stage. His eye for detail and suggestions while picking out the tile, granite and fixtures was invaluable. During the construction phase, John was here at least once a day to check on the progress with the contractors, and to check with us to make sure everything was satisfactory. He made suggestions that improved the end results, and made sure that we were informed and happy during the whole process. Even though there was a delay on the tile that we ordered (our choice), the project started actually ahead of schedule, and finished in 2 weeks, which is exactly the timeline that was provided during the quote. We had some adders, like extra decorative tile, and some expenses that we paid for ourselves. In the end, the total was within $10.00 of the original estimate. All the workers were professional, courteous and clean. They put down tarps on any areas they would walk through during the day, and everything was cleaned up at the end of the day. The work was done, and the final results were beyond expectations. The overall experience with K2, from quoting to the finalization of the product, was better than we could have expected. If we ever have need for similar work, K2 will be the first company we will call.
Description of Work: K2 did a bathroom remodel for us. From design suggestions, to helping us pick out the tile, vanity top,and fixtures. They gutted and completely renovated the bathroom. New tile on the floor and tub surround, a new tub, new vanity and granite top, new ceiling and paint throughout.

The work done by K2 Design was top notch, high quality work and completed in an incredibly short period of time. Others are amazed when I tell them we signed the paperwork a couple of weeks before the holidays in Dec. and they were done, including the carpet laid by Jan. 20. I've had friends tell me their bathroom remodel took months, let alone a whole basement in just over a month. The things I found most impressive was the direct and honest approach, making clear the costs of every choice we made. They exhibited great flexibility as we moved through the project, but again, being clear about what it meant for costs or time over-runs. We heard from Jon almost every day to let us know what was done, what was going to be completed in the coming days and who would be there. If they weren't there one day, we knew why and when they would be back. They demonstrated great concern about the timeline, but not at the expense of doing good work. We threw a few different things at them such as doors we wanted to use that wasn't in the plan. Despite some difficulties for them, they worked with our request. Cabinetry materials were outstanding quality and we love the look. We know what we like and don't like, but design is not my or my husband's strong point (though he thinks it is....it isn't). Jon and his team have done this so many times and have seen all kinds of designs that they were able to give us excellent recommendations for style, color and layout. They were very creative in meeting our tastes and adding in the elements it needs to get a good return, such as beautiful new granite counter tops in the bath and kitchenette bar. And we love, love, love the shower with the Onyx collection surround. Just beautiful but not overkill for the small space we have. The K2 Design crew and their contractors are great people. Very customer focused, friendly and respectful. Anyone that has gone through a remodel knows that your house is not your own for a few weeks. They took good care of our home and kept their commitments on when they would be there and when they would leave. We chose not to finish the entire basement, so it was a relatively small remodel. For the price, quality of work, timeliness and great communication, this remodel was an incredible value. We love our lower level now and spend most of our time there. Sometimes when you have work done, you don't use it because it reminds you of the painful process. That was not the case for our experience with K2. I can't speak highly enough and recommend K2 to anyone looking to do baths or any other remodel!
Description of Work: In January, 2012 K2 Design completed a lower level basement finish which included bedroom with large walk in closet, 3/4 bath, kitchenette bar and gas fireplace with stone surround. This was an unfinished lower level of our ranch style home. The entire space is about 1000 sf but we chose to build out only 700 sf and leave the rest an unfinished "man-cave"/workshop area.

This must be a case of mistaken identity. I am always thrilled to take a customer's order, whenever they are prepared to give it to me and DO NOT EVER use high pressure tactics to close a sale. I lead with credibility, professionalism, craftsmanship and competitive value. Furthermore, I have no record of having taken an appointment for this member neither on my calendar nor in my appointment log. Additionally, I draw up proposals electronically so that they can be saved on my CPU and do not have a record of a proposal for this member. Homeowners that trust me with their project are always 100% satisfied. This is evidenced by my other ratings. Please disregard this review as it is attributable to someone else.

Everyone we dealt with from K2Bath Design was knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to have around. I especially appreciated the cleanliness and care taken to protect my hardwood floors. Definitely a first class group of people.
Description of Work: Our master bath appeared dated and worn so Chad came out and made simple recommendations to maximize the look of the bath without adding unnecessary expense. We decided on adding granite, a new shower stall, new plumbing fixtures and new mirrors over the vanity. The end result was so pleasing that people thought we had remodeled the entire bathroom! I was extremely pleased and enjoyed working with Chad, Jon and even the installers. Good guys. Good workmanship.

The project went smoothly from start to finish. Both Chad and John were professional and very easy to work with. Chad helped us make the original choices by showing us samples and guiding us on color selection. When the construction was about to begin, John was there to help refine some choices and then supervised the entire process. We had a couple tricky spots that required some creative thinking, but it turned out great. The vanity and cupboards needed to be custom built to accommodate the dimensions in our bathroom. They are beautiful. We ended up with more storage without increasing the footprint of the bathroom. All the workmen were professional and cleaned up after they were finished. John kept us in the loop for each phase of the project so there were no surprises. It was an amazing transformation!
Description of Work: Our main bathroom was completely remodeled. The old tile (wall and floor), bathtub enclosure, bathtub, sink, toilet, and vanity were removed. They were replaced with all new tile, tub, sink, toilet, vanity and cupboards. The walls were painted. The project ended with finishing touches.

Given all the special order needs and difficulties with the limited space we were very pleased with the final outcome. Chad and Jon experienced some hair-pulling frustrations when some orders were back-ordered or no longer available at all. Jon persevered, however, and creatively managed to make everything right -- taking lots of time to reassure us when we worried, double checking specifications and talking to inspectors before work was done to make sure all codes would be met. For such a small room, it was an enormous undertaking. Should anyone want to see pictures of the before or after, please contact K2 Bath Design and ask to see the pictures. I've sent them on with permission to share them.
Description of Work: Chad, Jon and their crew converted our "furnace/laundry room" into a wonderful small half-bath with laundry facilities and hiding the furnace, water heater and water softener behind a set of sliding doors. The room looks like a small bathroom/laundry room with a large closet but we have easy access to the furnace, etc. And THAT was a very good thing as our furnace died just weeks after the remodeling was complete! The remodeling job was not an easy one as there was very limited space, but they were able to creatively do exactly as we wanted. The work included adding plumbing for a sink and toilet, constructing the "furnace closet" by building a new wall, and framing in the closet doors, adding an upper and lower cabinet of unusual dimensions in order to make the best use of the space between the sliding doors and my stackable washer/dryer set, and plumbing in a sink and toilet all within the codes. K2 managed to complete the work under budget (and may I add that the cost included all the new plumbing and fixtures). We definitely feel that the work done was well worth the money spent!

The job went very well, right from the start when they arrived on time as promised. Before Eli and Gustavo even went upstairs to look at the job, they put their drop clothes on the stairs and through the house to the Master bath. They were always very friendly, courteous, and genuinely happy to see us. They cleaned up after themselves very well and each evening they left the house as clean as it was when they came. Jon stopped by at least once a day to coordinate the schedule with the plumber and the electrician. He always made it a point to keep us informed as to what would be happening next. I have a construction background and so was always peeking in to see what was happening and never once did I get the feeling that they would rather not have me in their way! Eli and Gustavo each have their own skill sets and worked extremely well together. The end result was excellent workmanship and outstanding attention to detail. In summary, it was a very good experience, from the first meeting with Chad to the last meeting with Jon after the final building inspection (which went flawlessly) and final punchlist completion.
Description of Work: Complete Master Bath Renovation with new tile floor and walls. New whirpool tub and shower, new vanities, mirrors, light fixtures. With Chad's design help, we opened up the room to give it a more spacious feeling by removing the solid shower walls and replacing them with a glass enclosure, reconfiguring the tub and removing soffits in the ceiling. As the work progressed, Jon also added a few design touches which added more appeal, especially the new mirrors!
