What a wonderful job Jon and his crew did on my second bathroom. The bathroom was set in the original, ugly, 1970s style. The faucets were shot and the vanity was leaking water. They fixed all of that and put in Italian tile (that is ceramic but it could very easily fool you for the real deal). They completely gutted this bathroom and re-did it from scratch. The only things I kept were the bathtub and the toilet (only because I purchased that toilet less than 3 years before this remodel). Chad's pricing again was spot on. No-surprise budget and very polite. My mother was participating in the remodel and she didn't know any English. Chad was very patient with us as I translated and at the end of the meeting you couldn't tell that my mother and Chad just met! Chad was, again, very straightforward with his pricing. Although the remodel itself wasn't too complex (nothing as complex as my first bathroom.. or the kitchen) it was a phenomenal job. Jon is an excellent designer and he is always on time and always fulfills his promises. Planning my remodel with him and his crew was a breeze. They always cleaned up after themselves and tried to disrupt as little as possible my daily routine. Very respectful of my input on the project. I am stunned by the quality of the craftsmanship, the amazing deal I got on my granite vanity ( Jon was able to find a much more expensive granite about 40% cheaper!) and the great atmosphere they built giving me confidence of going through a second remodel right after the first. Please, do yourself a favor and hire these guys. Sure, they aren't the cheapest ones on the block. But boy you will be happy you hired them! City inspections were a breeze and always passed on round 1. They took care of everything from sourcing, to debris disposal to final touches. Jon is readily available when you call him or he usually calls you within a couple of hours if you don't reach him. His crew is extremely professional and you can tell by the incredible quality of the labor. You won't suffer "construction fever" with this guys. They are, quite simply, outstanding and very easy to work with. Budget was spot on with reasonable adjustments. I was so happy with them I hired them to re-do the flooring and the kitchen in the rest of my condo. That project is extremely complex and it will be long but Jon and Chad behaved in a way that made me and my mother feel it will be taken care of. Hire this guys and your remodel will give you many years of lasting pleasure and tons of compliments. Hire this guys and you will not be unpleasantly surprised by any gaming or any deception. Hire this guys and you will never hire someone else. Period.

K2 Custom Exteriors /Division of K2 Bath Design & Remodeling Steve H. was our design / sales person and project manager. Steve won our business with his strong knowledge, professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile to be of service to us. Upon demolition the head carpenter Matt found extensive rotten wood within the structure of our house. We live in a stand alone town home association and at this point Steve and Matt worked very hard with our association president and us to show us and communicate exactly what was wrong, what was the cause of the wood rott and what needed to be done in order to fix everything. Our president agreed to absorb some of the costs and K2 was very fair in the pricing of their change order for the repairs. The project is now complete and everything is beautiful and perfect just the way we had imagined it. We would hire K2 again in a heart beat and hold no reservations in recommending them to anyone. Sincerely, Howard & Bea Apple Valley, MN

Hi Guys, Thanks for taking the time to review your experience. They guys really enjoyed working with you. Great project. Our deck division is really taking off and the customers we have encountered have been fabulous to work with. We appreciate your business! Chad
They got off on the right foot during the preliminary sales/design call. It was important that Stephen was able to show us samples of alternative materials that could be used and make suggestions to get the project within our budget limits. We. of course, had looked around prior for ideas and got other bids. But, seeing all the samples together at our home and adjusting for budget and design purposes was invaluable and sealed the deal. Scott did most of the work except for brief visits by the electrician and plumber. He was easy to work with and responsive. He answered all our questions. He also asked a lot of questions and gave suggestions regarding positioning cabinets, alternatives for the baseboard, etc. to make sure everything looked the way we wanted it to. He was efficient in getting a lot done in a given time period. Damon, the production manager, was also very responsive especially when glitches happened He did a good job during the initial walk through in pointing out potential obstacles to be overcome and telling us what to expect during construction. He was also very good at the end in dealing with the little items which needed to be addressed to make the project completely finished to our satisfaction. There were a couple of change orders which increased the cost but these couldn't have been foreseen. The mortar bed in which the old tile was embedded was much much thicker than normal. This necessitated installation of an extra layer of subfloor material to get the finished vinyl floor to the proper level. Also the old ceiling fan was vented just into the attic (as was done in the 70's) and not to the roof. This had to be taken care of to meet present code.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of main bath in our 1970's era house. Demolished most of interior down to the stud walls. Replaced tub, shower head, toilet, vanity, wall storage cabinet, medicine cabinet, tile floor, ceiling fan, and bathroom door. Onyx solid surface was used for the tub/shower enclosure and vanity top. A Bertch wall storage cabinet was used and a Bertch tri-view medicine cabinet replaced the plain mirror. A vinyl floor was installed replacing the outdated tile. Also, a new vanity top and faucet were installed in the master bath.

This was a classic example of great team work. A typical bathroom project requires that: a carpenter to do the heavy lifting, a plumber, an electrician, an hvac tech, a tile setter, a shower door specialist, a counter top fabricator/installer, an inspector, a designer, a project manager and the homeowner, all stay on the same page for the duration of the production cycle. The choreography of a bathroom project is always complex. There is no such thing as a simple bathroom remodel. Great results come from planning, hustle and execution. Thank you for the business.

Jon was fantastic. His ideas for design not only made things that weren't originally planned possible (I got a walk-in closet!) but also proved to be practical as well as beautiful. The project was very big and complex. The area they had to work in had a trapezoidal shape and an awful design to begin with. Everything, though, went exactly as planned. Jon kept the project within reasonable budget limits and he always conducted himself with the utmost professionalism. The people that worked at my home were very respectful of my belongings and my privacy. The quality of the craftsmanship was superior. The attention to detail, remarkable. Jon really took care of everything. He gave me regular updates and was always patient with my questions and I felt he really cared about what I had to think about the remodel. They aren't the cheapest company. But you get what you pay for! They used superior materials, faucets, paint and the glass door on my shower is superb. Everything, down to the grout used was of superior quality. The minor "mishaps" that happened during the remodel were swiftly addressed and quickly resolved. Also, I really have to compliment the whole crew. Adam: what a great worker. He painted my room and put the curtains back up perfectly. Great talent! Tavo: Amazing work and a keen eye for design and precision and I am not biased based on the fact that him and I share South America as our ancestral home! The subcontractors used were also extremely professional and their work passed city inspections on the first time around. Chad was extremely patient with me and my mother during he design process. He remained focused on us and what we wanted. He displayed great ability to think spaces through and gave us a no-surprise estimate. By that I mean this: many contractors out there give you a low bid only to ask you to sign change orders at every turn effectively nickel-and-diming you. This was not the case with either Chad or Jon. The budget was honest and also realistic. My mother and I were so pleased with the work on my first bathroom that we immediately hired them to do my second bathroom and it looks like they are a very firm candidate for my kitchen a bit later this year. Even though construction in your home is not anyone's favorite thing I tell you that thanks to K2 the experience was as good as construction can be. They aren't cheap but you also won't be disappointed. That I can pretty much guarantee.
Description of Work: K2 was hired by me to do a pretty big remodel. Essentially the project was to completely tear down my current bathroom and closet including the vanity. It was a terrible original 1970s design and also a very awkward shape of the space itself.

Before the appointment, they were very clear on what to expect, how long they would need for the appointment, and that we both needed to be present. They sent a confirmation by email. If I recall correctly, Stephen was an hour late to the appointment. (I will double check and update this review if that's not the case) He arrived and spoke with us about what our concerns were. He very carefully went through the spaces and we told him what we wanted done. We needed the upstairs tub and surround replaced and we wanted a tiled surround. The tub had been leaking so we were concerned about damage inside the walls, so remediating that was part of the estimate. We also asked about replacing the laminate flooring with tile. Downstairs we wanted to replace the fiberglass/acrylic shower unit with a tiled shower and to fix the water damage in the ceiling. We also inquired about getting the fans replaced in both bathrooms. In the course of the conversation, he asked us what our budget was and we told him very clearly. Then we looked at samples and selected some that might work. They weren't thrilling and we were only shown a few options. At the time, I assumed this was because of our budget constraints. He then put all of the job requirements into his spreadsheet and showed us an estimate for the job. The estimate was about $14,000, which was thousands of dollars over our budget. (and every other bid we got) I asked for a copy of the estimate to be sent by email. He did not immediately agree to do it and took a while to figure out how to send the spreadsheet without showing us the actual line item costs. (We would have liked to see those costs, but he purposely chose not to include them) The estimate was emailed during the meeting. He wanted us to sign the contract that day, during the appointment. I informed him that we had other appointments for additional bids and could not decide before those were completed. I pointed out that it was feeling like he was pressuring us. He then offered to drop the bid by 3,000 dollars if we signed that day. We chose to not go with this company due to their pricing and signing model, so I can't speak to their quality of work. I have to wonder, however, about a company that can drop a bid by several thousand dollars in just a moment. It raised some red flags for us, so we chose to pass.
Description of Work: Came out for a consultation and estimate for remodeling the upstairs bathtub and surround and the downstairs shower.

Thank you for your review. Even customers whose budget is insufficient to support the work that they require, will get our best effort. When this happens and it happens often, we do everything in our power to put a project they can afford on the table. Stephen runs 12-15 appointments per week. They require a lot of time and energy and everyone that has him out to the house gets the benefit of his significant design experience for free. Had you been willing to give him an order on the first visit instead of asking him to displace a future opportunity, you would have been entitled to a discount. Why should we charge you for two trips if it only requires one? In my experience, a FULL bathroom remodel cannot be effectively executed for less than 12,000 (I've remodeled almost 1000 bathrooms). If you have found a contractor who will make multiple trips for free and charge you thousands less than, us I would ask you to proceed with caution. Not wanting to pay our asking price is perfectly acceptable, but nobody calls K2 because they expect us to be the least expensive. As for the bid package, we are glad to go through the line item pricing with our clients face to face. However, our pricing model is proprietary and not a document I want made public. It has been developed over a 10 year period and I have invested hundreds of hours creating and amending it. Stephen does not have my permission to release operational copies. I wish you luck with your project. Thank you for giving us an opportunity. Chad

From tearing down two walls and reinforcing trusses in my attic to meticulous tile and backsplash work, K2 was professional, thorough and skilled. Chad sat down with me, patiently showing me sample after sample until we decided on a tile, cabinet, granite color scheme I would have never have thought of on my own but I LOVE it! Jon suggested moving my sink under the window and I didn't even know it was possible to do! Bill kept me updated and gave me realistic expectations. They were also considerate of the fact that we needed to live in the house while they were completing the job. With a temporary kitchen and diligent clean up work everyday, the process was surprisingly painless. In a three month job, I was without a sink for a weekend at the front end of the job and a weekend at the end. They turned off our water for an hour total! Not bad. We were without a stove for less than a week. I missed my dishwasher but it was a small price to pay for my beautiful kitchen. Additionally, every person K2 sent to my house was kind, courteous, professional (and even nice to my energetic dog). They respected my request for work to not start until my kids left for school in the morning and gave me solid time frames to plan our busy life around. I recommend K2 without hesitation.

Beautiful, wonderful, meticulous work, was done on this bathroom project, I have no negative comments or complaints. Stephen, Damon, and Brandon are a Fabulous Team to work with. Brandon did all the tear out and the installation, a plumbing permit was pulled from the City and a plumber does the hook ups for the new sink, faucet, and tub/shower. The city also does a final inspection on your home. The communication was great from Stephen the company rep, thru Damon the project manager and directly with Brandon. They have pictures of my finished bathroom - ask them for the pictures for Gail and Don in Inver Grove Hgts. I am very happy and glad we dealt with K 2. You do not need to do tile and grout in a bathroom anymore. I strongly recommend asking about Onyx. You will be impressed with the product - 60 color choices for example, you could just remove your old tub and have a walk in shower installed with a bench with this product line. The panels are 3/8 of an inch thick, they are Not flimsy, they do have a selection of panel designs, including subway tile or 12 by 12 inch squares if you want a tile look. I highly recommend K2. I have been impressed with the entire project starting with the tear out of my old original fiberglass tub and shower walls which had to go.
Description of Work: Complete Bathroom remodel, new floor on Luan underlayment, Onyx shower panels - up to the ceiling PLUS an Onyx complete ceiling panel. New Bertch 5 foot vanity with Onyx vanity top and a white inlay Wave Sink. Oil Rubbed Bronze - on everything. New tub and a new Kohler Cimarron super flush toilet. Walls painted and a new mirror, and the new light - Oil Rubbed Bronze with 4 LED bulbs was also installed. Onyx shower walls include two large corner caddy shelf units, beautiful Onyx crown molding and corner trim. The back panel and each end panel are all one solid piece from the tub up to the ceiling and from wall edge to wall edge. This work was scheduled for way out in late June but they had their Best Onyx installer available now in May and our entire bathroom is all 100 % done.

Overall we were very happy with K2 and will recommend them. The process was not perfect but I doubt that any experience with a contractor would ever be perfect. Most important our project manager was very responsive (especially via phone) and always fixed any issues that we had. Prior to finding K2 we had a terrible experience with a small contractor and were about ready to give up on the project. But from the initial sales call to the final walk-through K2 was very professional. Some of the work performed by the subcontractors was a bit sloppy initially but this was very minor and was always addressed. This mainly was the plumbing but most of the other work including the tiling which made up the bulk of the project was fantastic. We are very detailed people...probably more detailed than most subcontractors. So I'm guessing we would find a few issues with most subcontractors work but again the most important thing is that we always felt that we could talk to our project manager about issues and they were quickly addressed. We are grateful to have found K2 and are enjoying our bathroom!
Description of Work: We hired K2 to do a master bath remodel. This consisted of tearing out a tub and shower and converting the tub area into a tiled shower, the former shower into a closet, replacing the tile floor and replacing the 1-sink counter with a 2-sink counter. They also added some outlets, added a light and a door to a crawl space under our stairs.

After agreeing to a plan with the sales rep, our project started within the ballpark timeframe that we were given. Upon meeting with the project manager, he pointed out a few tweaks we'd have to make with our design to fit the constraints of our bathroom. The demolition, carpentry, and installation work went well - the quality of work was very high. We'd find little notes in our bathroom some nights with questions for us, like "showerhead goes 'here' or 'here'?" A nice way to communicate and make sure our project turned out the way we wanted. Communication with everyone from K2 was excellent, from occasional checkins with the project manager, to calls from the carpenter to make sure he understood our requests. When we'd come home from work early, we'd find tools scattered throughout our bedroom (always on top of plastic sheets though), but at the end of every workday our bedroom was always very clean and all the equipment was arranged in the bathroom - we appreciated the care taken to keep our house as clean as possible amid a remodel job. Final result was great, we were very happy with the work. Price was a a bit higher than competitors we looked at, but having been through the project to the finish - we think the experience and the workmanship of our bathroom remodel made it a price worth paying.

Hi guys, thank you very much for your review. Your experience is exactly what I was hoping to give you. Thank you for your business we appreciate the opportunity to work with you enjoy the bathroom.
the design meetings were great, lots of good ideas and ways to make the best use of the space we had to work with. very long gap from signing contract until work started - probably 6 weeks delay from initial project start date, and not until we bugged them did we get some progress. We had a project meeting/walk-through mid March with project manager Jon and crew leader Cy and felt excited and confident that we were going to have a great project. Then another few weeks went by and a whole new team was put in place with a new crew and project manager Rob. So project finally started about April 7th with an initial flurry of activity, requests to work saturdays which we were ok with. Initial projection was for an 8 week project so we were looking for an early June completion. So for 3 weeks or so, demo, framing, utilities etc were going strong. By mid-May, Rob was having wrap up discussions with us about having a functional bathroom by Memorial Day, dumpster gone etc. then another two weeks passed with not much activity. June came and mostly went and still not close to being complete - closet built-ins were not done. Fourth of July came and went, and still not done... but dumpster was replaced with a tote bag. Finally by mid august we were down to punch list items. Now this may sound like we were frustrated and disappointed, but the frustration is mostly with the execution and communication. Over promise and under-deliver on time lines. This was a huge project and the quality of work, functionality, and overall finished project is very good. Many/most aspects of the project are great. If there is one complaint is the wood floors are NOISY. I don't know the right way to install wood flooring but seems like there is too much floating and consequently you can't make a stealth move anywhere upstairs without risk of waking up your kids or spouse when going to bed or getting up in the morning. their demo/framing crew ended up doing the wood floors (and tiles) because of lack of available crews, so we wonder if we got an inexperienced crew for the wood flooring? Personally, we think K2 took on too much at once and could not keep up. Seems Rob and Jon, both project managers, were not on the same page at times and this lack of communication caused gaps in the project flow. Would we recommend K2 to friends? I would say yes based on the finished work, but if I were to do over (or another project in the future) I would include financial penalties for missed deadlines.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of master bedroom suite - combined two bedrooms into one; former walk in closet made part of bathroom. Projected included tile and heated tile, changing ceilings to knock-down finish, moving utilities and attic access, custom cabinetry, custom closets, hardwood floors and painting in the main project. Also two peripheral projects like replacing doors, updating railings/banisters.

Big project. Multiple stages. Lots of materials that could not be ordered in advance due to space prep and mid-stream measurements. We all would have liked to see this job get completed more expeditiously, but in the end the job looks amazing. Really cool custom dual head shower. Thank you for the business and the review.
The finished product is beautifully done. All work is excellent quality. Tile and paint, in particular, are as good as anything we have seen and far superior to the original bathroom. Workers were punctual, extremely polite, responsive, respectful of our home, and worked to a very high quality standard, even if it required running over their allotted time. Every instance of a requirement for access to another part of the house (laundry tub, exterior water, other bathroom) was cleared with us in advance. Rough spots: Late start--work did not begin for nearly 3 months after we signed the contract and paid a down payment, although progress was steady once work began. (Part of the delay was our choice of special tile and unique Onyx shower floor.) Work completed in 6 weeks. Plastic draping of adjacent rooms could have been more thorough--was not sufficient to keep out all demo and construction dust. Floor-to-ceiling plastic sheeting would have worked better, in our judgment. All in all, we're very happy with our bright, new bathroom!
Description of Work: K-2 inspected and measured our 30 year-old, brown-tiled master bathroom. Discussed our preferences in detail, suggested numerous design improvements that we had not considered, and gave us an estimate of cost and time for completing the project. It involved gutting the whole room, installing tub, toilet, tiled stall shower with new plumbing, tiled floor, 2-sink vanity cabinet with quartz counter, mirror, additional lighting and fan, and painting ceiling and untiled walls.

We had a fabulous experience from the quick response for an estimate to the finished project! Stephen came with great samples, measured everything, helped us decide on all the necessary products and worked with our budget. Damon, project manager, was extremely helpful with any questions, concerns, or changes. All the staff we worked with were so friendly and courteous! Then Dave came on the scene and put all our ideas and plans into action. He is quite a craftsman and gave us 2 beautiful bathrooms! Can not say enough about this company, we are so pleased we had the work done by them.

All employees were friendly and careful. We asked them to be careful of the wallpaper, and it made the job more difficult, but the job was perfect. There were several unexpectant problems, but the solutions were very good. The project manager kept us informed, and asked for our opinion.

Hi Guys, Thank you for sharing your experience with Angie's list. This project really came together nicely. Note to the DIY crowd. This job was a great example of what can happen when a home owner decides NOT to DIY. This was a small, but very intricate job. There were custom elements at every turn. We encountered some very challenging pre-existing conditions and in this case, were able to overcome them to the satisfaction of the client. Had they tackled this project themselves, they would have had to call us in the middle of the job. Honored to have been awarded this business. Thanks again. Chad

We recently completed 2 projects - a high-end master bath(heated floors, steam shower, etc.,) and a redo in our powder room and guest bath. The redo projects were offered at a deeply discounted price when we requested some compensation for the project management problems and time overrun (13 weeks rather than the 7 we had been told) on the master bath. K2 wanted an opportunity to make amends and show us how they could manage a project better, and since our other baths need a facelift and we had been pleased with their workmanship it seemed like a way for us to repair the strained relationship and have a win-win. We are pleased with their workmanship, and K2 craftsmen Eli and Gustavo were a bright spot on both projects, not only because of their skill, but because of their personalities and customer orientation. The 2nd project was managed better than the first, and communication was much improved with us always being told when workers where scheduled, something that almost never happened on the first project where subcontractors would show up unexpected, hours late, or not al all. With a pet that needed confinement for safety, communication was critical to us, and we appreciated the improvement on the second project. Unfortunately, I would still be reluctant to recommend K2 to those for whom timely completion is a priority since the 2nd project ran over schedule too. The problem on both projects seemed to be with subcontractors, and since the 2nd project involved fewer subcontractors we only experienced about a weeks delay with everything else going smoothly. I fully expected everything to run like clockwork on the second project since it was positioned as a way to show what they could do, and was surprised when we again experienced delays because of subcontractor scheduling. We were without a needed toilet and the project took more than a week longer than necessary had K2 been willing to do the granite installation as initially scheduled rather than waiting for K2 employees to be ready for tiling, or been willing to pay an extra trip charge for the plumber to come an extra time. As a customer who spent $40,000 on both projects, that seems shortsighted, especially when K2 was trying to make a good impression with the second project to make up for delays on the first. So when a friend asked for the name of our contractor this past week I realized that I could only give it out with the additional information that we were happy with the workmanship but would have reservations about recommending without a caution about completion time and possibly a need to stay on top of communication. I felt that I owed this same information to Angie's List customers since I got K2's name from Angie's List and had different expectations based on recommendations I had seen on this site.

This bathroom is gorgeous! This customer owns a slab on grade town home that came with some significant and difficult pre-existing conditions that required substantial work-arounds as we endeavored to install a custom steam shower that fully integrated with a build on site tub deck. There were undoubtedly opportunities for our management team to avoid some of the delays this customer experienced (committed to 40 business days delivered in 75). We remodel 100-120 bathrooms per year and missing a deadline by this much is unacceptable regardless of the degree of difficulty. Our mis-steps and there were a few, were compounded by the degree of difficulty on this project for sure and the customer was not happy with the delays and voiced concern about communication. They were not irrate by any means, on the contrary even though there were some difficulties, our interaction with this customer was always professional and courteous. We appreciate that a ton. In the end, our commitment is to exceptional quality AND efficient workmanship. I wish there were photos of this job on the website. It might be top 10 from a design and execution standpoint, but in the end it took too long. We wanted to do something for this customer given the delays and they gave us a chance to make it up to them by face-lifting their guest bathroom. They would have liked that job to move more quickly too, but it was positioned as a "win-win" in that it gave us an opportunity to fill a few gaps in our transition schedule. We normally post a crew on a job like this until it is done, in this case we took a two phase approach to coordinate with our existing job schedule. This project was destined to be slower than usual. One of the customer concerns was poor communication. This is evidently an example of what they meant. Sorry for the communication issues. But, thank you for the business and what a great example of our work. Your bathroom is a show piece.

The experience was fantastic! They first stopped by to help with design and what changes were needed. All their suggestions were made with our taste and style in mind. They even consulted behind the scenes and came back with new suggestions that we hadn't thought of in the initial consultation, showing that they were thinking about our project long after we came up with the design. The door was the first step in the process. It's the first part anyone sees as they enter our home and it was such a dramatic change from before. All the walls and ceiling had to be redone and the drywall job is phenomenal! They challenged us on our paint colors, lending their experience and it turned out better than we had hoped. The project ended up with floors we hadn't thought of that really make the room what it is. Even the doors work better than all the doors in our house. I guess I didn't realize how doors are really supposed to operate! All the work was top-notch. Overall, we loved the experience and would absolutely use K2 again for our house projects and recommend them to anyone. Our bathrooms are next!!!
Description of Work: K2 did a complete makeover of our entryway. From the ceilings to the floors, K2 remodeled our entryway into a fun and fresh atmosphere as the first aspect or our house people see.

Styles!!! This member is also our life insurance agent (Northwestern Mutual). He put a buy/sell policy in place for my partner and I. It adds some long term financial stability to an already sound business model. I appreciate the review bud. Super small job for us, but it was a good opportunity to do something for a friend and valued business partner.

The first item I was very impressed with was the sales process. We have done a lot of remodel projects and normally the pricing component is ambiguous and hard to understand. K2 had all the pricing available in a spread sheet. If I wanted something added or taken out it was very easy to understand how it impacted the final price. We looked at the product and agreed to the price in one visit. I enjoyed the process as one of my goals was to minimize the number of interactions. The only improvement area was the length of time the project took compared to the estimate - just took a little longer than expected and we as home owners a little of that process as well. In other words - because we asked for some un-expected changes it did lengthen the timeline. Overall and simply put - the bathroom turned out perfect - simply perfect. They did everything they said they were going to do and the price of the finished product was exactly what we planned it to be in the original contract. I would and will use them again.

Thanks for the review! [member name removed] were great to work with. This bathroom turned out great. We hit a few speed bumps (which is a part of remodeling after all) along the way with the cabinet finish and a pre-existing condition in the bathing area, but my team responded and pulled this job together beautifully. Thank you for the business and congrats on your new bathroom! Call us when you're ready for the kitchen remodel. We already have some great ideas.
K2 Bathroom did such a wonderful job on my master bathroom remodel that I had them back the following summer to do my daughters' bathroom and a main floor 1/2 bath. The master bath was a total gut and redo. We removed the spa tub, installed a gorgeous tile shower (with rain fixture and another fixture). We also put in glass block windows - which were an absolutely fabulous addition. The natural daylight that fills the shower is in amazing. We turned the old shower area into a linen closet with beautiful shelves and more space that I ever imagined. The vanity was totally replaced with beautiful cabinets and a granite top. From the initial contact with K2 Jon was great at listening to my ideas and providing us with a design that fit our vision. They were patient, responsive and understanding of our wishes (some changes along the way) throughout the entire process. The installers, plumber, and electrician were also excellent - and very pleasant to have in the house. K2 kept the project on task (and on time) and communicated almost daily. I had them back the following summer to redo another couple of bathrooms. The first one was also a total redo where we replaced the tub, retiled the shower and the floor and installed a new vanity with a granite top. The second bathroom (1/2 bath) we replaced the vanity top and added a vessel sink and new mirror. I loved the fact that they took care of everything from demo to the installation of the last cabinet knob. Having worked with K2 on two major projects over the last two years, I can tell you they are a company that goes above and beyond for their customers. They have great innovative ideas to help you decide what can be done in designing your space. Jon understood my personality, needs and taste and worked with me to accomplish wonderful results. They were realistic about the time it would take to complete the projects and the initial cost estimate only varied because of changes I made. Every day the work space was cleaned up (loved that part!!) We were extremely pleased with the professionalism, attention to detail and quality of the work. I would definately use them again and recommend them highly for your next project!!!

K2 was professional in coming out and consulting how to renovate an old shower, and they put together a detailed proposal and budget. The budget was put together immediately on the spot after we discussed what we wanted to renovate and type of materials we wanted to use. They were competitive in their pricing and one of the main reasons we chose them. As with any job, there were things that we expected that did not turn out quite exactly as we thought, but K2 was able to resolve these issues amicably.

Absolutely great experience. My deck is an amazing outdoor living area. Just had the entire family over, and the deck was the main topic of conversation. Cy is an amazing carpenter, and his experience helps him to design really unique custom decks. I will be using these guys for jobs again next summer.

Replaced bathtub and shower fixtures, installed tile shower surround and floors, installed new exhaust fan, and replaced the vanity top and faucet. Our new bathroom looks beautiful. Stephen did a great job showing us the choices and putting together a good combination of tile, accents and countertop. The project started about 8 weeks later as promised in the estimate. Jared was our project manager/general contractor and he was great to work with. He was very knowledgeable about the entire remodeling process and did a great job coordinating all of the workers. There were a few hiccups along the way due to previous work on our house but K2 was easy to work with to discuss options and they have a very high standard for quality.

Nice project. This was a great customer to work with.
What went well: Flooring was done nicely, the brick pattern was well thought out; the grout is clean and even (however there is a 2" chunk of grout on the tile under the vanity that I will need to remove somehow). The knockdown ceiling looks very nice. What did not go well: There was a lot of miscommunication about replacing the subfloor even though I sent 3 emails about it. The salesperson told me a reasonable amount of subfloor replacement was built into the price. I was willing to pay additional to have larger sections of the subfloor replaced. Instead they installed a cement tile backer without discussing it with me. The paint job is atrocious. I could've done better. There was a mix of roller and paint brushes so the look isn't uniform. This is the reason it took 2 months to finish my job. The salesperson told me they have professional painters on staff, apparently none were available for my job. Communication issues between the project manager and the Carpenter was an issue.

This customer insisted that we use her vendor for counter tops and shower surround. This vendor delayed the project significantly, showed up unprepared and were very difficult to coordinate with. The success and failure of any K2 project is predicated on the customer submitting to our process and allowing us to manage our crews, our vendors and our material deliveries. This project was a small job. We love small jobs too, but small projects do not have the same provision for management that larger jobs have. As a consequence there is a premium placed on efficiency from a PM perspective. When our process is not interfered with, a project like this will take no more than 6 or 7 days and each phase will run smoothly. However, when there is an "unknown" quantity in the mix, some of the simplest operations become extraordinarily difficult. Our experience has been that when a project like this installs quickly there is never a complaint, but when it drags on, regardless of the reason, we are typically subjected to a fair amount of criticism. This experience was not what we intended for this customer and in hindsight, none of the issues we asked her to deal with would have been necessary had our process been adhered to from the beginning. We learned something here. Thank you for the opportunity.

The project overall went very well. Stephen came out to our house to discuss what we were looking for. He suggested a location other than what we were thinking. It was great to have his input on the project. He laid out the whole project, we picked out most of the supplies, and signed a contract all in one visit. Because of the age of our home (built in 1927) there were a couple of issues that came up. Our project manager Damon did as much as possible to keep things moving. There were a couple of delays that could not be avoided because they were outside of the control of K2. Brandon who did about 90% of the work could not have done a better job. There were a few things, again due to the age of our home, that Brandon had to find creative solutions to make the plan work. Brandon made suggestions along the way that were invaluable to the success of the project. We were very comfortable with the team of contractors that were working in our home. Our bathroom and laundry area turned out wonderful and we could not be happier!
Description of Work: We hired K2 to install a bathroom in our basement. Part of the project was also to relocate the laundry room.
