Excellent. After the job was completed we discovered a problem with the labeling of the circuit breakers. We called and they came out the next morning and sorted it out and updated some minor items in our system in the process. They were very responsive and helpful.

Drew showed up on time and completed the job faster than we anticipated. He also took the time to clean up the wiring from the old box and put the ground line in a position that'd allow us to easily finish our basement ceiling when the time comes. A great first time experience.

JZ Electric did all the electrical work for our main floor remodel this year. It's been a project in the desire and planning stage for over 10 years, so we had a lot riding on it. JZ Electric was professional and the work results were outstanding. They are higher priced than some other electrician's I've worked with, but with the end results being fantastic, it's value and the finished product we wanted. I will add that they did work with us on price when we we added some work by change order and discounted some of the work to meet our expanded (unplanned) budget and still deliver the remodel we wanted. Electrical is such a big part of the overall effect and they delivered. They were easy to work with and the electricians on site were friendly and hardworking. With a project like ours, they were on site for days and you want a good experience with the pros in your home. We did have some problems with some of our LED lighting and dimmers that resulted in blown circuits. JZ Electric sent a technician out on two several occasions to solve the problems. There was no complaint or grief and they solved the problems.
Description of Work: Complete main floor remodeling with all new lighting and electrical throughout kitchen and living areas and some exterior patio lighting. Also upstairs master bath remodel.

. Jz did work for us during our remodel last year, so when we needed our new hot tub wired (should have thought of prewiring when we remodeled) we called them because of previous experience using them . They were prompt, professional, and did good workmanship. I'm not sure if the value is comparable to other companies , as we didn't seek out other bids. The price seems high, but that is just a baseless opinion . We chose them because of the quality work they performed during our remodel.
Description of Work: jZ electric came to our house trenched and installed under grounnd wiring for our new hot tub . They returned after the tub was delivered and put in a new curcit in our electric panel and hooked up our hot tub . They also added another GFIC outlet to our patio area next to the tub.

JZ ELECTRIC'S WORK WAS CARELESS. Ten sets of can lights in the ceiling were placed haphazardly. They are not in alignment or equally spaced with one another. They look like a double row of zig zag lines. JZ Electric even placed a fan between a pair of lights, so that when the lights and fan are on, a strobe light effect will be the result. The majority of ceiling joists were open. There was no excuse. We had to argue with JZ Electric and Knight, but they refused to correct their work. Other electricians and contractors have seen the work done in my home and laugh at the idea that it was considered acceptable by either JZ Electric or Knight Construction Design Inc./Knight Remodeling. In another area of the ceiling, JZ Electric mixed deep and shallow can lights together when we told them we wanted them all to match. We told the electrician and Knight employees to their faces, but they still mixed the sizes. JZ promised to correct their work, but they did not. We then left notes and even wrote on the joists in black marker - and they still blatantly disregarded our requests. Again, the contractor was useless. We had to pay someone else to change the lights. JZ Electric put wiring expressly where we told them not to, and, by doing so, a patio door could not be installed per the contract. Months earlier, Knight tried to persuade me to drop the door work - it required building support walls, a job that Knight said was too extensive. Enlarging the view was a major part of the remodel & Knight said nothing of this before we signed the contract & the work & cost for installing the larger door was written into the contract. I firmly believe that the placement of the switch was intentional, because it prevented the 9 ft. wide door from being installed. Knight said they could not install the door because of the wiring, so we would HAVE to except the smaller door, yet Knight did not issue a credit back for the more expensive door or the cost to install it. While we continued to fight over this, JZ claims they were clueless about the battle over the door. However, when Knight tried to get me to cancel our signed & legal contract for another one, nearly a year into the remodel nightmare, the work for the 9 ft. door was again included. The bogus contract was never signed nor dated, but was emailed to me 10 months into the project which should have been completed 7 months earlier. The project dragged on & on & on. I believe that the view that we wanted so badly was being used as leverage to make me sign the second contract that dropped MOST of the overall remodel work, yet cost nearly the same. The thought of such underhanded collusion sickens me. Estimates to correct their malicious act were over $4,000.00. We won compensation for expanding the view in the arbitrated judgement against Knight Construction. Wiring for a second TV and phone connection, under cabinet lighting, and all the sconce lighting listed in the contract was not provided. Their INVOICE LISTS WORK FOR WIRING THAT WAS NOT PROVIDED. NO CREDIT WAS GIVEN. No Change Order was written up & signed allowing omission of electrical work. JZ / Knight billed for work that was not provided. JZ Electric did not place some of the outlets and switches where I had marked them to go. They did the same with the sconce light at the top of the stairs. It was installed so high that it was a significant hazard to change the bulb. This is another bit of work that others in the trade found inexcusable. I paid hundreds of dollars for another contractor to move the light fixture down to a sensible height & have the drywall repaired. JZ told me that the wiring for the remote to our fireplace was hooked up, but it did not work. Not until we had another contractor on the job did we get the fireplace problems corrected & functioning properly. Neither JZ nor Knight would give us an electrical diagram of the work performed in our basement. Each said that it was the responsibility of the other. Neither of them could even walk through and verbally explain what was hooked up to where. In mediations & binding arbitration, neither JZ or Knight could produce a signed & dated electrical plan that they claimed existed. It was to their benefit to have produced such documentation. They had years to do so. Why, didn't it materialize? Because no such paperwork ever existed in the first place. Instead, Knight presented an unsigned, undated diagram which differed from the unsigned, undated version that JZ presented, which differed from the legal contract scope of work that was dated & signed, which differed from the work that they provided. Another point of interest was that Knight emailed a Change Order to my spouse, who had little to do with the project, to sign & mail back with a check for over $ 3,000.00 for changes that they claimed I made during the electrical walk-through. This would have made the electrical bill for basic wiring for a space under 600sf nearly $10,000.00!!!!! The very big problem with that that put egg on Knight's face was that it was dated & sent before the electrical walk-through had even taken place!!!!!! I had yet to meet with anyone from JZ Electric. The Change Order was never signed & money was not sent for these imaginary changes. During the Discovery Phase of the law suit against Knight, I saw other paperwork between JZ & Knight that was enlightening. Work that they had wanted to charge me for in the Change Order as "additional" work was already part of JZ's bid completed earlier & already part of the contract price. So, that Change Order was actually charging me twice. The vast majority of JZ"s & Knight's work had to be demolished in order to correct all that was wrong with the overall remodel by Knight, including the electrical work. The other contractor I later hired to do the remodel charged under $3,500.00 for the electrical work that was done quickly, to code, & without hassle. "Good job" Castle Gate Construction. "Very bad job" JZ Electric & Knight. IN ARBITRATION, WORKMANSHIP FOR THE OVERALL PROJECT WAS JUDGED TO BE SHODDY, COMMUNICATION VERY POOR, and SUPERVISION GROSSLY LACKING. JZ Electric claimed that they would work with me directly to correct and finish the work they started, but refused to put their promises in writing. In this case, verbal promises were useless. Over four years passed & JZ Electric did nothing.
Description of Work: JZ ELECTRIC is the ELECTRICAL SUBCONTRACTOR used by KNIGHT CONSTRUCTION DESIGN, INC., 2989 Water Tower PL, in Chanhassen, MN. JZ Electric was to do standard wiring for a 525 sf basement finishing project under my contract with Gary Knight.

They were excellent. They were on time and did the job exactly the way they had quoted. They finished the work and cleaned up after themselves. They were good.
Description of Work: I used JZ Electric Inc in August. They ran an entirely new electrical line from the power pole into my house. They also did my garage. We were mainly trying to get the garage done and after that they did the house too.

John was helpful during on site project scoping. Price was comparable to other quotes obtained. John was also receptive to a variety of questions and contract alterations. They were able to schedule work within a reasonable time frame. The on site crew was friendly, helpful and efficient; they finished within a partial day. The trench dug between the house and garage was filled nicely. After the completed house projects there was a problem with another room's light switch. John walked me through things to try in the house. Someone was able to arrive and fix very early the following morning.
