I called the contractor on Saturday, 1/18, and they came out that afternoon to look at the job. On Sunday, two people came to remove the snow from my roof. They came when they said they would, and got the job done in about an hour. I was very pleased. They also removed the snow from my driveway and deck. Overall, they are very pleasant, professional, and I will use they again when the need arises. Plus I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I am a fool. You can see I gave them a good review for clearing our roof of ice dams in December, 2010. I noted then that a guy slipped off our overhang and pulled the gutter with him. Fortunately he was OK. They assured me they would fix the gutter, and to their credit, they sent someone out twice to do so. However, the gutter is still leaking and water puddles below it. This is a problem in the winter because ice builds up and is very dangerous. Our deck is our pathway between our house and garage. However, this is not why I'm really upset - I haven't mentioned the gutter to them since last year. Because I believed they were trying to fix this and were an honest, local company, I hired them to install heat tape last winter - so I wouldn't have any more ice dams. They put in two pieces - one shorter (80 ft or so) and one longer (250 feet). I also had an electrician come out and install a dedicated circuit - and that cost is not included here. Well, long story short. The long piece of heat tape NEVER worked. After a few days I noticed the circuit breaker was tripped and I couldn't get it back on. They tried to tell me it was the outlet, and I had the electrician back to inspect it twice. It was the longer piece of tape and it kept tripping the breaker, despite being within acceptable amps. Because we hardly had any snow and cold last year, I was extremely patient and accommodating, I had to call several (over 10 I'm sure) times. After they assigned it to the actual workers, one of them totally flaked out kept saying he'd ordered a new piece of tape and would call me. I called back again and found out he'd been fired and the woman who answers the phone, Kathy, was very apologetic because she thought I'd been taken care of. Finally, a new piece was installed. The same problem happened again. I called, and again and had to call several more times. Finally last spring John came out himself. He said the installation was fine, but that the longer pieces of heat tape were trouble and I should split that in two. OK, fine. I'm OK w/ that or even leaving off the heat tape on the overhang - we can rake that snow off. Then, John suggested that I should pay to replace the tape because he could not return it. WHAT? I should pay for your faulty product? I was so flabbergasted I shook my head an came inside. He sat in his truck for a while and came to the door and said he'd replace it and I could just chip in a tip if I wanted to. I said fine. He then asked if he could use it as a and quot;fillerand quot; job during the busy summer months. I said fine - but I would call in the fall if I didn't hear anything. Well, I didn't hear from them. I called AGAIN on Monday, October 8. The person answering the phones is new so I very politely gave her a brief background. I did tell her, however, that I have been very patient and that patience had run out. I told her that by the end of the week I would like a firm date scheduled for the repair. Not completed, just scheduled. She called back that day to tell me the agreement was that I would pay for the new heat tape. I told her that was not the agreement and if they have an issue with their supplier it's their problem, not mine. She called me back 10 minutes later and said they need some time to figure out the scheduling but would call by the end of the week. I said that was fine. Really - I think I've bee more than patient, and way more patient than most people. Well, that was 3 weeks ago. I'm done. I should not have to keep calling and hounding these people to fix this heat tape. They admit it was the materials. I did nothing wrong. I'm not calling them any more. I'm taking other action. This would take them a few hours to fix, and I've wasted way more than that on fruitless phone calls. I suppose I should have gotten more mad last year, but I tried to be understanding, patient and accommodating. And, by the way - my gutter still leave a puddle on the end. UPDATE: After 6 weeks I filed a complaint with the BBB. Turns out they came out the day after I called them and replaced the tape. No call before, during or after. Obviously I wasn't home. The heat tape does seem to be working now - FINALLY! UPDATE: It works for most, but not al of the winter in 2012-2013. Now, none of it is working. Do NOT use them for heat tape install. They don't use a quality product and then tell you they warranty their and quot;workand quot; not the heat tape. I can supply photos of our roof in December if you'd like.

I had 5 bids on this job. They were the most reasonable and they did a fantastic job. They did the entire job in just 2 days. The price might seem high but the job was on an enormous roof and it was all done with cedar shake shigles; the next best bid was $55,000. They cleaned up everything after the job was completed.

Back in December (2010) I had, for the first time, terrible ice dams on my roof, along with the rest of Minneapolis. As a recent widow, I was unprepared to deal with the situation and basically I freaked out. I consulted Angie's list for a good company to help me and decided on Pederson Construction. When I called, this company was swamped with all the work, yet the dispatcher was kind enough to respond to the panic in my voice and rearranged the schedule so that someone could come at the earliest possible opportunity. The workman came, steamed away my ice, and I was SO relieved. He mentioned that I should have my roof looked at as there were some areas that might need repair. I called Pederson Construction again this May to come check over the roof and look at the possible damage. The owner came out himself and gave my roof a thorough inspection. His conclusion: no work needed! So, basically, I am writing this review because I DID NOT have to get any work done! This is significant because many businesses will tell you (especially if you are someone who may seem vulnerable or ignorant) that you need to purchase their product. But John Pederson was honest enough to tell me the truth and not just try to sell me something I did not need. We discussed what my future options may be if work is needed, and you can be sure I will have his company do the work for me. My experience was very good, I found Mr. Pederson to be forthright, friendly, and honest.

Overall things went well. I called during an extremely busy time. Due to the extreme weather conditions, all the roofing companies were booking out at leaast 3-4 days and many companies had raised their rates (and were simply price gouging) during this time. They quoted me around $237/hour for a few days out. They called the night before I expected them to and arrived promptly the next morning. Their steam machine did not work immediately and they had to call in help to fix it. They did not charge me for this time, however, so other than having to wait longer it was not an inconvenience. They did a fine job steaming off the ice. The only problem was the ladder slipped on our deck while the guy was climbing down from the soffet and the gutter broke off. He called his boss and assured me they'd fix it. It ended up snapping back in place so unless we have problems in the spring we should be OK. I noted this on my receipt. Overall I was satisfied and glad no one was hurt. There were two workers and they are both very friendly and professional.

They are great to work with and they are very willing to work with the homeowner. With these people, they are very much involved with the homeowner and they are fair.

Called on a Wednesday during a snowstorm, knowing I would need the ice removed soon. The earliest they could get out was for Monday. Monday morning, got a call to reschedule. I couldnt have them on Tuesday, so they said Wednesday. Wednesday AM they showed up on time, then had to leave the site because they were lacking a plumbing fitting. On returning TWO HOURS later, they asked to borrow pliers, then a hacksaw. Then they came to the door and said the machine was frozen, they couldnt do the job. The nearest replacement machine was in Forest Lake, and they left to fetch it. then called, and said they couldnt make it back that day. I found another contractor.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB, FOLLOWED THROUGH, AND WERE CONCERNED WITH MY SATISFACTION. I HIRED A GARAGE DOOR SERVICE COMPANY TO FIX THE GARAGE DOOR THEY DIDN'T INSTALL PROPERLY. THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT. I STILL THINK THEY WERE HONEST AND HAD GOOD INTENTIONS. DEPENDING ON THE JOB, ID CONSIDER HIRING THEM AGAIN.

THEY GAVE A BREAK ON PRICE BECAUSE BOTH A NEIGHBOR AND I HAD THE WORK DONE AT SAME TIME.

I WOULD GIVE AN A+ IN RESPONSIVENESS. THE SALESMAN NAME WAS SAM BARNES. HE WAS EXCELLENT. HE WENT BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY. I HAD A LEAK IN THE BATHROOM VENT AND HE WENT TO THE HARDWARE STORE HIMSELF AND BOUGHT SOME CAULKING AND FIXED THE LEAK FOR ME EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT HIS JOB.
