Oversold and under delivered. Great ideas but when JLM felt like they were losing money on our job. It all changed. Be VERY careful. Get everything in writing. Be specific. Size of plants/shrubs, warranty, timelines, follow up process ... Have your friend that is a lawyer review the agreement. We spent over $70K and cannot get a phone call, text or email returned. Now we have to hire another landscaping company to correct the issues.

They did a good job.

There were a couple sharply curved areas on my front walkway where they didn't cut the bricks to follow the curve, they just left them rectangular and filled them in with sand so it looked sloppy. A few bricks cracked in the first winter. They came out in spring, said it was within their tolerance but said they would correct all of it and never did. I made numerous phone calls and emails. When the snow came again I knew they for sure weren't coming back. I wound up selling the house this winter and bought another house that needs another $20k patio. I would have used them again had they spent an hour fixing the work on the last house.

It looks GREAT! E mails and phone calls were returned promptly. They were on time and the work was completed when they said it would be. We have used them in the past and will not hesitate to use them in the future if we have a need.

They are excellent. The guys work very hard and are very punctual. This is the third project they have done for us. They have created order in my yard. I would recommend to anyone.

The work crew were professional and curtious. They cleaned up after each days work. The estimater/designer created a nice paving stone designed that helped tie in the drive with an existing paver sidewalk. JLM did some little extra touch ups and additions that enhanced the entire job without charging me extra. So far I am very satisfied with the outcome of the work.

I met JLM at the Home and Garden Show and they were fairly responsive contacting me regarding my request for more information. I was pleased to be able to communicate via email as that works for me for this type of project. The designer was prompt to set an appointment to come and view my project. Although I'm a fair designer myself and I had some pretty solid ideas of what I felt I wanted, I liked that he provided some value-added advice about my project and collaborative problem-solving. I was happy that he did not object to my providing the pavers I could buy myself on sale. He pointed out to me the prospect of the ground not being ready for the work during the April time-frame that I would prefer to have the patio installed. He provided a very professional hard copy proposal and estimate for the work, including the terms and conditions of their contract so that I had everything I needed to make an informed decision. When I emailed I had changed my design somewhat, he was prompt to respond with an adjusted estimate. My experience with JLM was positive and their bid was lower than some others I received, however I ultimately chose to hire a different landscaping company for my small patio tear out and installation.

We were replacing a deck at the back of the house and they came in and suggested a patio instead of a deck to replace the existing deck. We had them do the work. They did a beautiful job. We love it. They were absolutely excellent in everyway. They are great. They were very easy to work with. Their designs are beautiful. The execution is flawless. It looks very good. It is excellent. It has been a year and a half, and it still looks great. We would not change a thing. They were not the cheapest. We would use them again in the future if needed.

Everything was excellent with them and I would highly recommend them.

Wonderfullly! they are true artists...from the plan to the finished project, Tom and the crew were friendly, hard-working, efficient, and professional. Despite a few rain delays, they got the project done in plenty of time before the first hard freeze. We can't wait to see what a few years of growth will do, it's going to be stunning! We got exactly what we wanted...and could not be more pleased!

When the JLM crew came, they did just what Tom said they would and did it in the amount of time he said it would take. They were very neat (even swept up the street in front of the driveway). My drive has a curve on either side - they cut stone to keep the curve and did a beautiful job. When the drive was in they replaced the sod on either side (which I was very impressed by). I was somewhat concerned about blowing snow on the paver drive, but Tom assured me that it was not a problem and he was right!! We have blown snow numerous times this winter. The comment from my neighbor was "they sure seem to know what they are doing!" The job was so beautiful. The paver company asked if they could use a picture of my driveway for their literature!. I feel confident that should I need anything in the future that I can call on JLM.

Sod was installed adequately except for the front yard where there was a small hill. The sod on the hill was not staked down and the next day when it rained it separated from the rest of the sod. I had to go back and stake it down. It appeared after the first rain that no or little grading was done in the back yard as I had to lift the sod in two areas and add dirt to lessen the depression. Today there are still obvious signs of small potholes. Initially, I called to complain about that and the fact that I thought there were gaps between the rolls of sod that would prevent them from growing together. That part turned out OK however, when I called the company to have them take a look at my concerns it took them a week to show up. To their credit, I made some last minute changes in the design of the front yard which required a bit more sod and they were able to accommodate the changes without increasing the price.

Without getting to details I booked an appointment with Jerry to view our project and understood that he would be back to me with preliminary plan and associated costs and ideas. After a full 10 days of waiting I called the office and was told he was "out of the office" and not available until the next week. I left voice mail and sent an e-mail indicating that I would be making a decision (I had another firm bid) and would like to hear what he has to offer. Even the office person admitted that 10 days was too long without even a check in to say "thanks for meeting with me and I am working on your project" or any update. No response to email or voice mail at all. I did follow up (even after obviously deciding not to consider JLM) and sent e-mail to contact listed in profile here on Angie's List. She did immediately reply and apologized for Jerry however did not have any explanation for his lack of response. She did offer to send someone new but I was not interested.

We received several bids for our new driveway. JLM was chosen because they arrived on time, explained everything in detail, and offered what we considered a complete service. Regarding the latter, they said they d make sure that when they leave, wed be ready to party. Sure enough, sprinkler heads were reinstalled and adjusted, and sod was laid. The cleanup was immaculate. Also, weighing heavily on our decision was the fact that our street was about to be repaved. Brett from JLM said that we should really try to get this done BEFORE the repaving was completed, because they would make a mess of the street. He said that if we go with JLM, hed contact the city and work his schedule so that the job would be completed before the repaving started. They finished on Monday; the street repaving started Tuesday. Were very pleased with JLM. Their crew knew their stuff, always arrived on time, and did a great job. Wed definitely hire them again.

Jerry was prompt to the initial appointment, even though it was the morning after a holiday weekend. His proposal was faxed to me the next day. He answered my questions during a follow-up phone call. I dropped the signed bid and a down payment (50%) at their office, and work was completed the following week. JLMs workers did an excellent job laying out the dirt and sod in one day. It was a complex project because of a tight hairpin curve in the sidewalk and rather severe contours in the yard for drainage. The workers stopped out the following morning to complete the areas where they had run short of sod. They were polite and receptive to my suggestions on finishing the job. They left the yard very neat and clean.

The service was excellent. I like the way they designed the yard and the designer was extremely cooperative. I felt their price was high, but I would hire them again in the future.

THEY WERE A GOOD VALUE, VERY RESPONSIVE, VERY NEAT AND GOT THE WORK DONE QUICKLY. THE PROJECT MANAGER WAS OUT DAILY TO OVERSEE THE PROJECT. THE CREW WORKED GREAT.
