We were immensely disappointed with the service provided by Intersource. Our initial consult should have alerted us to red flags, but they were the first carpet vendor we met with, so we didn't recognize the red flags when they were presented to us. We told the Intersource sales rep we met with were open to different carpet colors and design, but said our only limitation was that it had be durable because we have a toddler and small dog and that we needed something in stock that could be installed quickly because of the date of our move in. After finally settling on a certain carpet swatch for one level of our house, we were told the rep had grabbed samples from the wrong pile and that the swatch we selected was not durable and she would not recommend it. After going back to the drawing board, we settled on two different carpet options for two different levels of our house. Weeks later, we received an email confirmation with a price estimate (more than $20K for carpet that looked fine, but certainly not anything that looked like it costed as much as it did) and a note saying that the carpet was on backorder and wouldn't be delivered for more than 2 months after the initial installation date estimate. To make matters worse, the Intersource rep never called us to inform us of this change, even though she knew that we had other vendor scheduled to do work on those floors after the carpet was installed (requiring coordination on timing). Throughout the process, Intersource was non-responsive, unapologetic (in fact, at various points they appeared to try to shift the blame to us for selecting a carpet that was on backorder, despite the fact that we were only notified of that weeks after placing the order). When the carpet was finally installed (after we had to call regularly to even get the carpet scheduled for installation - something we expected they would do as the vendor), we were underwhelmed by the product given the tens of thousands of dollars we spent on the carpet. We've worked with many vendors on our house and Intersource was by far the worst. Overpriced, mediocore selection, and non-responsive. We would not recommend to anyone. Save yourself the time, effort, and money and look elsewhere.

Response from INTERSOURCE INC
[Member Name Removed], we first learned of your dissatisfaction with the service we provided when you were contacted on 8/6 regarding payment status. After your conversation with our CFO, the ownership team reviewed the details of your project with our account director and production manager as well as a full review of all written communication. After our review, your husband, Nate, and I discussed the concerns over two phone calls. It was acknowledged we completed the installation of your lower level carpet on your desired date without concern. The dissatisfaction with our service stemmed from the back-order for the material to be installed at your upper level. Nate confirmed the quality of material and installation for both lower and upper level were as expected and commented that our "installers were great!" I appreciated Nate'[Member Information Removed] feedback, both the negative and positive. Through our review of the project, we found when we were first contacted on 3/20, you shared the details of your project and that the timeline would be tight as you had purchased a new home and wished to replace the carpet as soon as possible after closing. You scheduled us to visit your home with samples and to complete a measure during your pre-closing inspection on Friday 3/29. Prior to our visit, you provided images representing the style of material you desired. You also shared approximate room sizes and floors plans which you cautioned did not depict the current layout of the spaces. Based on the information provided, we confirmed sufficient stock on a variety of options and added for margin of error on quantity. On Saturday 3/30 you sent an e-mail opening with, "It was so great meeting you on Friday!" On Monday 4/1, we drafted floor plans and completed our estimate. We found the upper level of your home required more material than anticipated. We re-checked stock on your preferred selection and found there was not sufficient quantity available. The back-order date for your preferred selection was 5/17. Our account director immediately brought this to your attention and offered options with sufficient stock for your consideration. Understandably, you were disappointed the material was not available and informed us you would wait for your preferred selection. Our proposal was submitted to you on 4/2. You approved the proposal and submitted your deposit on 4/3. We completed the installation of your lower level carpet as scheduled on 4/12. On 4/30, the mill informed us the 5/17 back-order date had been updated to 6/7 due to a shipping delay in the Netherlands. Our account director immediately informed you of the change and again offered in stock options for consideration. We also offered to cancel the order and refund your deposit if desired. You confirmed you would wait for your preferred selection. The material was received and scheduled for completion on 6/26. Due to the frustrations caused by the back-order delays, client accommodation was offered, accepted, and the balance of the invoice was paid on 8/22. Shipping delays are a source of frustration for all parties involved. On both occasions, our account director immediately informed you, apologized for the delays, and offered alternatives for your consideration. Once materials were available, we promptly and professionally completed installation to your satisfaction. In hindsight, a better solution would have been for us to recommend for you to move into your new home "as-is" and allow time for all materials to be received in our warehouse. We have implemented this change to our process.

I had specific, trade-related technical questions about cork flooring, and I was very satisfied with Eric's willingness to get me pointed in the right direction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Intersource to professional contractors who have flooring supply and planning needs.
Description of Work: I had questions about cork flooring installation, which is a relatively uncommon trade application; Eric was extremely helpful and thorough throughout the conversation.
