This is the third time I have hired Indy Painting to paint the exterior of my home. All three times they were professional, efficient and friendly. They painted my house with the absolute minimum of disruption, and the finished product is exceptional. I would recommend Indy Painting to anyone.

I would give the Indy Painting crew of Jorge a 4 star rating for their skill in painting and a 2 in cleaning up paint chips, cigarette butts, loose tape and counting their hours (the hour piece is completely on the owner and not me b/c I paid for a job and not hourly work). He hires subcontractors and they were late everyday, barely pressure washed my stucco home. I went back before I bought an electric pressure washer and got more paint off with a regular hose! Major disappointment. As for the owner Kory, I would give him a 1 star for customer service. He threatens you if you don't complete his survey and says you won't be entitled to the 1 year warranty. In addition, he misleads regarding payment. Also, don't let him charge you more than a 3% transaction fee for a square cc. He thought he was doing me a favor by not charging 4% when all of a sudden I was going to have to pay 3.5% for my transaction because his "card reader" wasn't working like the first time he charged me for the deposit. If he would have read his Square contract, he should have invoiced me and then he wouldn't have had to pay the extra and tried to tell me to call his cc company...so I did and this is what they charge. If you're using Square Point of Sale to process payments, the app is free to download and your account is free to maintain. The rate is 2.75% if you have the card in hand, or it is 3.5% + $0.15 to manually type in the card numbers but you can email an invoice to the customer in which case it would be 2.9% + $0.30. The rates will never fluctuate and there are no hidden fees. Kory lies and is completely unprofessional once a job starts...he's peachy while trying to win your business though!

Response from Indy Painting
Wow, [Member Name Removed], what an utter load of rubbish. This job was done over a YEAR ago. Your stucco was covered in multiple layers of paint and we told you flat-out that it needed to be sandblasted before painting. We even went out of our way and got you a bid from a sandblasting contractor. But, you didn't want to spend the money to do it right, and instead opted to skip the sandblasting. So, we told you that the paint wouldn't hold very long and only gave you a one-year warranty. Moreover, when the job was done, you were a nightmare to deal with and ended up withholding some of the payment. Fast forward to yesterday. You called us to complain of a small peeling spot. We told you that the year had already passed and the warranty was invalid, but STILL offered to give you free labor if you paid for materials. You declined. Then, you went straight to Angie's List to give us a bad review? Unbelievable! Let us return the favor: our review of you is that you're a terrible customer who wants the moon but doesn't want to pay for it. Next time, listen to your contractor's advice and do the job right.

Description of Work: The job was to prep and paint all my trim and a small garage that was in dire need of a new paint job. Cory was responsive from the start and provided a very competitive bid. I felt he was transparent in all aspects of doing business with Indy Painting. He was accurate about timing, work performed, crew and amount to be paid. I could not have imagined a better result nor an easier way to achieve it. I'm very pleased, and impressed.

This is the 2nd time we've used them. The first time was for interior painting and we were well pleased. Even though they did a good job previously, I still got alternative bids to be sure of the pricing of the job. They came in a bit higher than the other bids, but their bid was much more professional and detailed. I went with them because of this, as well as my previous positive experience. On this job, it took a little while to get started. They made initial contact on a Thursday and said they would start Monday. On Monday I noticed they had dropped off equipment but had not started the work. When I called, the team leader, Adam, said he had been there and had taken measurements for the carpentry work. I would have preferred it if they had just started on Thursday. However, I also do not know the details of the prep work they have to do to acquire materials, etc. so I didn't say anything. An over riding circumstance on the whole job was the tremendous amount of rain we've experienced. Once they began they worked hard the entire time they were here and continued to hustle until the last possible moment before the rain started. They never compromised the quality of their work. They cleaned up every day and stored their supplies in our shed, which saved a lot of time of them having to haul equipment, load and unload their truck, etc. Adam and Jeff did the majority of the painting work and Jon did the carpentry work. They were very polite, professional and cognizant of my time and specifications. Jon particularly communicated very well about what he was doing, why and how. Being neurotic I would offer suggestions or question what he was doing. At one time he said "I have a plan" and it all suddenly made sense to me. If I would get out of their way and let them do the job I was paying them to do, everything would be fine. They did indeed have a plan and executed it very well. I said when they finished that I didn't believe I'd have any more projects where I would need them, but if I did, I would certainly call them. I actually sort of missed them when they were finished. They were pleasant to have around and such hard workers. Work ethic is important to me.
Description of Work: Scraped and painted the exterior of our two story house, garage, shed and steps including wooden shakes and all trim. They also performed some carpentry work replacing rotten wood.

We had carpentry, painting and new gutters put on our home. The initial meeting went well, which was why we hired Indy. The project took much longer than we were told, the crew was often hours later than they said they would arrive, and phone called were not returned promptly if at all. We were always on site when the work was being done, and for that reason we aren't sure what would have been followed through with had we not been present. It was more work on our part than we would have anticipated. We are also aware that there were very real weather issues that held up the job, and miscommunication happens at times, this just felt like there were too many issues that could have been avoided with a higher level of professionalism. We do have a project completed that we are satisfied with in the end.

Kory came out to give the estimate. He was very personable and smooth talking. I did appreciate that he gave me some options on how to save money on the project, such as skipping the porch floor and stair treads (which were in terrible condition) and taking down the first floor storm windows myself. The wood trim on my house was in poor condition and there were a lot of cracks and peeling paint. While I understood that the wood could not be made to look like new, the contract did state that they would fill holes and caulk cracks as necessary. I explained to Kory when I accepted his bid that I had a couple of 'hot spots' that I wanted them to be careful of. One was the plants around the house and yard and the other was the pond liner in my rain garden. He said they would do the best they could, but since they had to put down plastic tarps for the lead abatement, there might be damage to the plants. Casey called me around 5:30pm the evening before he wanted to pressure wash the trim. Luckily, I was able to get back to him in time to confirm this, but I think 24hrs notice would have been nice. After this, there was good communication throughout the project. The crew returned my calls in a timely manner and let me know their schedule. The crew was always polite and responded to my suggestions and comments without attitude or hesitation. The painting crew arrived on the first morning and I told Casey that I was concerned about the plants around the house and in the yard. I also explained to him that I was concerned about punctures in the pond liner in the rain garden. I told him that there was a laundry sink in the basement and they would have access to the basement the whole time, even when I wasn't home. He acknowledged this and they started setting up. Within 30 min of the crew arriving, I saw a painter cleaning a brush in the backyard. I asked them not to clean anything in the backyard because I have dogs who could walk through it and lick themselves. Casey made the comment "Oh, I guess we will use the sink in the basement, after all." I don't think they ever set foot in my basement and I saw them cleaning brushes in my driveway on the last day.Unfortunately, I had to be at work for most of the time they were working and was not there when they finished the job. Briefly - here were my main complaints:* When they took down the storm windows, they set several of them right in the middle of my asparagus patch, I had to move them. * They did not mark the storm windows when they took them down, I had to tell them where to replace them correctly. * They damaged several plants in the yard, most of them not even near the foundation - it was clear they were just not looking where they were walking. How to you step on a rhubarb plant? * They did not fill in most of the nail holes and other holes in the woodwork and did not caulk cracks in the woodwork. * Although I was told that they needed to do lead abatement, there were paint chips and glazing chips all around the house and on the roof when they finished. I never once saw a vacuum or hepa filter.* Even after I pointed out spots to Eric that I wanted touched up (there was bare wood still showing after he said they were done with the painting), when they were finished there were still spots missed. * There was one wood storm window that was not glazed at all. They did do this when I reminded them of it. * There was paint all over my hose spray nozzle when they were finished. * They did not replace the house numbers on the front of the house. * There were many rocks in my rain garden that were displaced and no attempt to replace them was made. I even found a couple of them near the backyard, on the other side of the house.* I specifically asked Casey to make sure the windows were not painted shut when he replaced the storm windows. However, there is at least one window on the second floor that is painted shut. The reason I rated the price poorly is because I accepted the bid with the understanding that there was lead paint on my house and there would need to be special measures taken to deal with this. This did not happen at all.

We knew we were in trouble when we asked if they had a drop cloth to put on our front porch floor to protect it and they both stared at me as if they didn't know what a drop cloth was. After a long minute, they said maybe they could find something. That set the stage for our experience. Yes, Kory, the sales person is a good at what he does. He sold us the concept that our front door was the focal point of our home - the first thing seen and that it needed to be done pristinely - paint removed to bare wood, sanded smooth, primed and two coats of quality paint, along with promises to paint our back door and one side of our garage. Well the garage went ok, the back door painting was fine (paint removal was another story), and the front door was problematic from the beginning when the painter borrowed a screwdriver because he didn't bring one to remove the door. The main problem was that two inexperienced men were sent to do the work. The one who did the back door, asked to have the door opened and didn’t take it off the hinges. He scraped and sanded the entire door while it was open scattering paint chips and dust inside our back hall and stairs, spilling onto our driveway. He was a foot away from our coats and other personal items - never asking us to move them. After it was painted and he left, there was a layer of paint dust over everything all the way down the stairs. Even though he tried to clean the drive, there were paint chips and freshly dried paint spots all over our concrete. As for the beautiful front door Kory promised, we discovered the man had never stripped a door or did this kind of paint job before. He tried to strip the paint off and sand it, but after painting it was obvious he didn't achieve this. There were noticeable rough patches all over the door, the beveled glass had primer all over it, an area didn't receive a second coat, and the hardware (door handle, lock, etc.) wasn’t taken off and was painted around leaving odd brush marks on the door and paint on the hardware. I refused to pay, had Kory come look at it, and watched as he gave a training lesson, after-the-fact ,to the painter on how to strip and paint a door. He was going to have this man come back to fix his work, but I insisted on an experienced painter especially after hearing him telling the young man to just take a sander and go over the framework around the beveled glass windows, but be careful not to sand the windows because they’re expensive. A lot of excuses were given by Kory and he spent more time defending his company than listening to me when we talked about having an experienced painter come out, but another painter did come and did a better job. He spent several hours sanding the door - which now has gouges left in it, and there’s an area that didn’t get a second coat - but, at this point, we just wanted them out of here, so we paid them. Also, instead of taking the door off by the hinge pins, all of the screws on the hinge were uns

Excellent job with close attention to prep work.. They did a very clean job and were very professional in their work and keeping the me informed about the job. These use only the best paint products and primer preparations. They did a very clean job and cleaned up the site to its original state. Kory only hires real professionals and I was very pleased with the job. I also feel that there price was very competitive for the size of my home.

Weather gave us a break to get the trim painted before winter. The job was completed to my satisfaction. The painter let me know when he was coming (reliably), used a quality paint and took care not to splash on a new stucco finish. It was about a 3 day job from start to finish. The finished job was very sharp and no mess was left behind. There was a final walk around/review with the painter before payment was made.

1st step is power washing - company did not alert us that they would be washing and we had our windows open, there was no damage, but I'm still cleaning up the mess Painting went fine - We got good advice on picking colors and that was very useful. A little disappointed at the drips on our brick patio. Repair wasn't done at first - had to track down in order to finish job (that had been included on the bill). Never did touch up after that repair was finally done. As with any company, I guess you really have to be vigilant. I probably wouldn't go with them again, but they were very personable.

Kory, the president of the company, was very friendly and explained things clearly. He came to our home twice to do an estimate, explain the work, and review the proposal with us. The paint crew came when they said they would, and the work went very smoothly and quickly. The only delay was due to rain. They did a great job sanding off the old paint, repairing the wood where it was rotted, and did a perfect job painting all the wood trim. The house looks ten times better than before, and there was not a drop of paint anywhere except on the trim where it was supposed to be.
