We got the appliances on sale. They delivered and installed them. That's the part that was bad because the installation was crappy. I would use them again, but I know better now what to watch for. They used the wrong hoses for the washer. We ended up going to Home Depot twice. We actually had to install the right hoses for the washer. Some of them were too short, then they were the wrong ones. The refrigerator has an ice dispenser, well the water didn't work. That's part of what you pay for with an expensive refrigerator. For a week it wasn't working and it took that long for them to get someone out there to install it right. They didn't have to run the line, we ran the line for them. A plumber wasn't necessary. All they had to do was hook it up to the refrigerator. What was defective was in the refrigerator itself because we ran the line. They eventually fixed it. If you added all the time together it took about 4 hours altogether. It was over a period of multiple days. We were the ones that ended up fixing the dishwasher and it took them a week to get whatever they needed for the ice maker. When it comes to the delivery of the dryer, all they had to do was plug it in.
Description of Work: We bought a refrigerator, a washer, and a dryer.

The flooring is reasonably priced. We purchased about $4000.00 or $5000.00 worth of flooring from them. We're in the process of installing our flooring ourselves because it's too expensive to have them install it. They have you figure out how much to order based on the measurements of the room and things like that and they got that all screwed up. In one of the types of flooring, we ended up with 18 cases extra. When you talk about cases, they're $40-some dollars a case. If you had to special order something, you have to wait 5 to 6 weeks for it to come in and you have to hold up your project up. They can basically improve on that when they have a service to help the customer, to come out and tell a customer how much they need of a product. They need to be more careful about how much they tell the customer to order. A lot of times you are getting inexperienced people who are left on their own to do this. That's basically what happened. They were inexperienced and didn't quite know how to use the system. It wouldn't have happened had the person who knew what he was doing, who came in half way through the thing, been there through the whole thing. But we're also buying appliances through them. We interacted with probably 10 different people. They did the best they could to help you out. If they didn't know, they would find someone who did know.

Description of Work: Home Depot redid the floors in my bathroom and kitchen with mixed results. The kitchen floor was done well. | |The bathroom not so much. They removed the old tile, which lowered the floor (I knew this going in). Cleaned up the mess very well. They laid the new floor -- nice job. | |However, they did not caulk the tub/floor area. The baseboard Home Depot recommended was too short -- they carry the same product in a wider sizer. | |Bathroom results -- not professional, tacky job, I know need to caulk and paint. Too much money spent on a poor job.

I didn't go with them. The product wasn't as good as others and it was double the price. The guy that came out was fine but he knocked some of their other products, which I thought was kind of tacky. I would contact them for other products.

George was the salesman and he went over the entire kitchen and pointed out many things we had never noticed. One example was that our countertop had numerous overhangs that didn't meet the standard. Our center island had a half inch overhang, other places along the counters had 2+ inches. He suggested the pull out drawers for the pantry and also noted the sagging cabinet and recommended a flat cabinet. George has a wonderful personality and we enjoyed talking to him. One suggestion I would have is not to use such a hard sell to get the so called good deal. There was a real push to sign that day for the presented discounts. But outside of that, we liked that George was so knowledgeable and we really liked the suggestions he made. The actual work was performed by Travis. He put in very long hours in order to complete the job in five days. The kitchen was really transformed and I am convinced that this was a good investment because it has more functionality and is much more polished and updated. Travis is obviously very experienced and very proficient in his job. He also had a good attitude and great laugh. One mishap was that a drawer was ordered 1/2 the height it should have been so we had to wait a few weeks until a new front could be ordered and Travis had to make a new box to fit as well. George came out to take photos of the new looking kitchen and brought us some donuts to share over coffee. I asked him about when the drawer would be in and he said he'd have to find out. What I didn't realize was that once George takes care of the sale, the customer is supposed to contact the people in charge of actually arranging the work. From the customer's point of view, we contact whoever we're most familiar with or comfortable with. At any rate, after a few more days I called another person who's name I had, Gary, and he informed that I needed to talk to Adam. When Adam got on the phone I was already on edge because I had patiently waited 3 weeks and just wanted someone to give me a more concrete time frame on when the last bit of this job would be complete. I tried to explain what was wrong and told him the front and drawer box needed to be replaced. He said this was the first he had heard of the drawer box needing replacement. This got me more frustrated because I wondered how much longer it would take to finish up. Then he said the drawer front had been back-ordered. I asked him why he didn't notify me of that and he said sarcastically, "What do you want me to do, call every day and say it's not in, it's not in ,it's not in." After an almost flawless experience, this really put me off. In the end Travis came back out and put the new drawer and box in and it looked great. I have been showing off the kitchen to friends and have told them that if they go through Home Depot that they should ask for George in sales and Travis to do the work. However, we were just in Home Depot today. We stopped in the kitchen area and when we mentioned that we just had our cabinets re-faced through them, they said they were just starting with a new company for re-facing. Home Depot contracts this work out even though the agreements are under the Home Depot name.
Description of Work: Tear out of old countertop, replace 27 doors,14 drawers and rails, put in 2 tilt outs in front of sink, two of the doors replaced had glass fronts with 6-lite dividers, replaced two door cabinet over the refrigerator because the old one was too close to the top of the frig. Also replaced a cabinet that had an angled door and huge overhang. It was starting to sag so a new flat cabinet was installed there. Crown molding was put on top of the cabinets and 5 pull out drawers were put into the pantries that used to have deep shelves that did not pull out. New hardware was put on cabinets and drawers. The center island was bumped out by 4 inches.

Home Depot didn’t do the actual work. They had another company to do the work. So, I went through Home Depot to get the work done. They did a fabulous job. They refaced some very old cabinets. They were laminated cabinets. They even put on cherry doors for us. They also replaced the old laminated cabinets. They did a beautiful job. They went above and beyond. We had the salesman come out and give us the estimate. We wanted to do the refacing because my mother, who is 88 years old, didn’t want to remove everything from the cabinets. So, when the salesman told us that he’d have to remove everything, my mother wasn’t ready for that. The salesman assured us that once he was completely finished with removing the cabinets, he would come back and put everything back, the way my mother had wanted. He kept his word. So, we went ahead and booked the cabinets and we are happy that we did that. It turned out to be very beautiful. My mother even got some pull out doors that are very helpful to her now. The workmanship was just excellent; we couldn’t have been more pleased.
Description of Work: My mother and I used Home Depot for getting the kitchen cabinets refaced. They completed the work, last month.

Purchased door through Home Depot. Home Depot hired an outside company to install the door that I purchased from them. The installation of the door was fine, but the door had gashes on it so I called the Home Depot and talk to the supervisor over that department and he said that there was no way that he would let it out of his store with the damages like that. Supervisor came to my house and sanded the door down to try to remove the gashes and scratches. There are still scratches that I now have to fix myself or hire another service provider to do so.

I did not use them. The reason I joined Angie's List was that I was so unhappy with the estimate and sales presentation.
Description of Work: Work was not done. I got 2 competing bids, (reason I joined Angie's list), both in the range of $4500. They did a high pressure presentation with so called reductions for immediate signing of the contract. One for $300 at that day and another for $1000 by Dec 31 06. They loaded up the price rather than start with a based price and then add on. When I first questioned the bid, Green promptly dropped the price. We started at over $10,000. Also, he did seem to have a presentation script that he just could not get away from. Given the disparity between bids, we are not going to use Home Depot.
