Worst experience ever! Things seemed to be going fine all the way through the measure process. After that was the biggest show of complete and utter unprofessionalism I have ever seen displayed!!!! We ripped up the carpet because our renters had a cat and I am allergic to cats. We were painting the entire home to prep it for sale and I couldn't work in there with the cat dander that was in the carpets. My husband called to verify they would still haul away the carpet even though we ripped it up. All of a sudden they won't pick it up because a horribly rude woman said it was a biohazzard because of pet urine. The cat never urinated on the carpet. The townhome had absolutely no smell of cat urine anywhere!!! I called and spoke to the woman and she said my husband said the cat urinated EVERYWHERE. I called her on that and told he I knew for a fact my husband never said that because I was sitting next to him when he called and talked to her. That is when the story changed to..... The man who did the measure noted in the measuring documentation a strong smell of cat urine and pet staining throughout. I told her that wasn't in the measure paperwork I received. She said it was a note that he pit in the system. I asked her to provide that documentation. She refused. After that I spoke to her manager, then the manager of the entire scheduling office. Nobody would provide the proof that this person put anything in some super secret system that only they can see. Our contract included haul away. Even after the measure, where they had the opportunity to state the carpet would not be hauled away, they didn't note anything. Nobody could tell me where any exclusion was noted.... Except their computer system, that they wouldn't show anyone. We decided we would just have to get rid of it on our own. The install was scheduled, we received a call verifying the appointment and nobody showed up. My husband took vacation to be there. He called when they were late and was told they were on their way.... This went on all day...they never showed up. We then rescheduled and the same thing happened-no show. Another day of vacation burned. It wasn't until I went back to home depot and demanded my money back - which they would not refund-so I threatened them with the Law office we use for our business, that they finally scheduled the install for a third time and actually showed up. The inasallers were polite and did a great job. When my husband went out to the garage, he found that they took the carpet. We adked him if the carpet smelled bad and he said no...it smells like carpet. He noted no smell of animal urine. The garage, where the old carpet was sitting did not smell (and this job was done in July when it was really hot and humid). I have just had the carpeting done in the basement of my home and already used another company. They were professional and punctual and less expensive for a higher quality carpet. I will never step foot into a home depot ever again for anything.

There were several steps and all went smoothly. A salesman came to the house to see what we needed. Then someone came to measure. When door arrived 2 men came to install. We had reminders for all steps via email. All were courteous, knowledgeable and professional.

Be warned: Home Depot contracts with a company called Crew2 to take installation orders and send them to local contractors. They do not handle this themselves. I didn't know this, and I assumed that if I went to Home Depot things would go well, because they are a large, national company with a reputation to protect. Apparently, they are unconcerned with their reputation. When I called 1-800-HOMEDEPOT on Sunday because my water heater died, I ended up talking to Crew2 and not Home Depot. Crew2 is HORRIBLE. I will never go to Home Depot to install anything ever again. The guy who took my order kept wandering into long winded personal stories. I had to keep prodding him to get back to the business at hand. Worse, he got every single piece of my contact information wrong. Email, phone, address. I had to go over it with him multiple times at each step, and speak even more slowly than I usually do. It turned out that he wasn't entering my contact information into the system, either. He was writing it on paper. So after spending what must have been a good half hour trying to get my info straight with him, I then had to wait for him to enter it. And then he wanted to go over it all with me...again. And he had it all wrong...again. An hour later, I finally am set up. Or so I think. The installer failed to call on Monday morning. So I call Crew2 to ask what was up. They tell me they need to verify my address, that there is a problem, and the installer will call me in half an hour. I correct my address with them and we hang up. Ten minutes later, Crew2 calls AGAIN, asking to verify my address. Thank goodness these people don't work for 911, is all I can say. Anyway, after verifying my address with 3 different people ten different times, I finally get a call from the installer. He was equally fed up with Crew2. He'd contacted them at 7:30 the next morning, because Crew2 had sent my order to him incorrectly, and he had no way to contact me. Crew2 never responded to him. None of it got straightened out until I called to find out what was going on. By which point, the installer didn't have any slots left for the day, and I had to wait yet another day for the installation. I told the installer I had told the third Crew2 employee I talked to about the problems with the first, and asked that he pass it along to a manager. The installer said it wasn't likely to get anywhere. That they have constant problems with Crew2, and he'd already talked directly with a manager about it all. I've entered a complaint through Home Depot's website on Wednesday, and I haven't heard from them. So I can only conclude that they are completely unconcerned about all of this. Fortunately, the installer was excellent. I will review them separately. Next time I need plumbing, I'll call them directly, and cut Crew2 and Home Depot out of the picture. I did get a very good price on my water heater and installation...so that's the one piece about Home Depot I'm happy with. But it wasn't worth the aggravation, hassle, and additional lost day. Next water heater, I'm going directly to the installer.

Sometimes they it’s perfect and sometimes it’s not so perfect. Sometimes they have what you want and sometimes they don’t have it. Sometimes the people you talk to know where the stuff and many times they don’t. I never get upset about and I just accept it. Their price is competitive with other companies. There’s not much difference in their product lines and materials. The pricing is fairly close because they have to be competitive. 10 years ago, in general, I find the staff very informative. In the last 7 years, it has deteriorated somewhat. When I drive in, they are open and that’s all it matter. Sometimes, there’s nobody around to talk to.

Horrible. Will never use them again. Ever. While the people we worked with were nice individually (when you could actually get a hold of a real person), their process was so frustrating as they subcontract everything to different groups and everyone tells you a different story. The measurer who came to our house and chatted at length with our contractor/carpenter and myself never mentioned on site that he was noting a gap in the flooring that would hold everything up and could have been addressed by the carpenter right then and there. Then the store wouldn't actually order the carpet until we came back to the store in person and convinced them (for over an hour) that we'd take care of the gap. (Which we did but they tried to bill us for materials for fixing it themselves!) It took longer to get our carpet installed (5 weeks total) than it did for our contractor to remodel the whole room.

Home Depot was having a great sale on Jeldwen windows, so we went in to see what it might cost to replace our unattractive aluminum ones. The man who helped us (identified on our receipt as salesperson LA43ZU) was very efficient at getting our design on the computer and calculating how to best fit the windows into our old structure. He also had the foresight to consider the weight and ease of handling of banks of windows. Our contractor (who was building an addition on our home & consented to install these windows) was VERY impressed with how well they fit into our openings, and how easily they trimmed out. The windows added great curb appeal, and are very nice overall.
Description of Work: We did some restoration to our 1923 4-square home. Our 3 season porch is an area we enjoy so much. It has 10 windows, which used to be the kind found in very old trailer homes. Corroded aluminum, hard to open. We replaced them with Jeldwen windows, which we got though Home Depot.

I assumed that the Home Depot would be a good place to start with estimating the price of a new kitchen. You can do a lot of it yourself in the store but it was difficult to get much information out of the sales people unless you set up an appointment and paid $100 to meet with the designer. We did that, but still didn't get a lot out of it. Our designer was very nice, but I found it rather annoying to sit with her for an hour while she made changes to the floor plan. It might not have been so bad if the computer program worked better. Once the initial floor plan was created, I brought the plan home to be sure I had everything I needed. But when I found something I wanted to change, I had to call and make an appointment to come in and talk about the change. Unfortunately, none of the HD designers have their own phones or emails and they don't seem to work regular schedules so I had to keep calling to see if they were in to get the updates made. I gave up.
Description of Work: We paid $100 to have the Home Depot rep do the kitchen redesign with us so that we could get an accurate estimate and compare their products.

Sounds simple, right? When I bought it, they gave me a delivery date for the following week. Nobody showed. I called and they said it hadn't left the warehouse. They apologized and offered to give me the dryer kit for free. The next three delivery dates came and went without anybody showing up and without anyone calling me. So, if you want to get a good price on a dryer with friendly salespeople but wait for a month to have it delivered, use Home Depot. And, don't have them install it. I was on the phone for weeks about that, too.

WE WENT TO HOME DEPOT BECAUSE THEY HAD THE MACHINE WE WERE LOOKING FOR, AND THEY HAD A PROMOTION ON PURCHASES OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT. THE SALESMAN WAS VERY NICE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE SHOWED US THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE MODEL WE COULD AFFORD AND THE NEXT ONE UP. FELT NO PRESSURE TO UPGRADE FROM OUR SALESMAN, WHO WAS NOT WORKING ON A COMMISSION. WE BOUGHT THE WASHER AND IT WAS DELIVERED WITH NO PROBLEMS. OUR SALESMAN EVEN STAYED PAST CLOSING TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WENT WELL WITH OUR PURCHASE.

WINDOWS WERE ALL VINYL AND DID NOT APPEAR TO BE OF VERY HIGH QUALITY. THE WOOD GRAIN DESIGN IS HIDEOUS! THEY WERE THE LEAST EXPENSIVE WHEN COMPARED TO PELLA AND ANDERSEN. THE SALESMAN WAS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE, WAS FILTHY AND SMELLED LIKE CIGARETTE SMOKE AND BODY ODOR. DECLINED THE BID OF $1900.
Description of Work: REPLACE TWO KITCHEN WINDOWS. EXISTING WINDOWS WERE SET IN INADEQUATE SILLS, SO ALL FRAMING AND SILLS WERE TO BE REPLACED INSTEAD OF INSTALLING AN INSERT. CHARGED A FEE FOR NOT DOING THEIR MINIMUM OF THREE WINDOWS. HOME DEPOT DOES NOT ACTUALLY DO THE FABRICATION OR INSTALLATION; IT IS A SUBCONTRACTOR.

I WAS QUOTED A PRICE FOR LABOR & EQUIPMENT WHEN I ORDERED. I LATER HAD TO CHANGE THE ORDER TO A POWERVENT TO AVOID INSTALLING A CHIMNEY LINER. THEY QUOTED A NEW PRICE WITHOUT TELLING ME THE EXTRA LABOR WASN'T INCLUDED. I WAS FURIOUS WHEN THE INSTALLER EXPECTED ME TO PAY $613 TO HIM DIRECTLY FOR THE LABOR ON TOP OF WHAT I ALREADY PAID HOME DEPOT. IT WAS DECEPTIVE TO QUOTE THE REGULAR UNIT DIFFERENTLY (W/LABOR) THAN THE POWERVENT (W/O LABOR). THEY ALSO NEVER MENTIONED THE POWERVENT WAS A 6-YR WARRANTY RATHER THAN 9-YR WHICH I BOUGHT ORIGINALLY. IT TOOK SIX APPOINTMENTS. ONCE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT. ANOTHER TIME THEY WERE A NO-SHOW. THEY HAD TO COME BACK TO FIX A HOLE LEFT IN THE CHIMNEY AND RETURN AGAIN TO FIX THE UNIT WHEN IT QUIT WORKING LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER INSTALL. PLUS THEY WERE 2 HOURS LATE THE DAY OF THE INSTALL. IT TOOK AS MANY ATTEMPTS TO GET THEM TO SEND AN ITEMIZED INVOICE. THEIR RESPONSE TO COMPLAINTS, EVEN FROM CORPORATE HQ, WERE VERY UNSATISFACTORY.

HAD THE SALESMAN OUT FOR A ESTIMATE ON A 44 FOOT REDWOOD FENCE AND 4 FOOT GATE. I PICKED A STYLE AND SIGNED AGREEMENT WITH HOME DEPOT FOR THE WORK. I LIKED HIS REDWOOD PRODUCTS VERY MUCH. HOWEVER AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE SALESMAN CALLED BACK AND SAID WE HAD TO RETHINK THE HEIGHT OF THE FENCE BECAUSE THE CITY MIGHT NOT APPROVE OF IT. AFTER A THIRD TRIP TO MY HOUSE, HE CAME UP WITH A NEW STYLE AND HEIGHT WITH A HIGHER PRICE. THIS OF COURSE I TURNED DOWN. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE SALESMAN NOT KNOWING THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

WE ORDERED THE SILESTONE COUNTERS THROUGH HOME DEPOT. AFTER THE INITIAL ORDER YOU WORK DIRECT WITH THE COMPANY. THE COUNTERS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND EVERYONE WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH. THEY EVEN DELIVERED A PIECE THAT WASNT RIGHT IN THE EVENING! I WOULD RECOMMEND DOING A DETAILED PRICE CHECK ON ALL TYPES OF COUNTERS AND DONT ASSUME LAMINATE IS ALWAYS THE LEAST EXPENSIVE, AS IT WAS NOT IN OUR CASE. THEY WOULD HAVE CHARGED A TON FOR THE INSTALL, BUT WITH SILESTONE, INSTALL FEES WERE INCLUDED IN ONE PRICE. NO HIDDEN COSTS OR SURPRISES...
