we had scheduled counter to installation with sink and faucet in early june. however, the installation was not carried until about three weeks later, because the sales person at home depot in richfield ,mn had forgotten to order the sink.the installers arrived for installation on the new installation date. and in removing the old counter top and backsplash, tore off parts of the adjacent plaster and did not repair . i had recently had the kitchen walls replastered. i complainded to the sales person and she gave me an email for the person in charge. i sent an email with the above information including the fact that the ends of the granite backsplashes and the the contact edges of granite backsplash to wall were uneven. i never received a reply.

The kitchen bath designer in the Home Depot store was friendly, knowledgeable and gave us suggestions for how and what to order so that we could get every discount that the store was offering. The person who came to do the final measurements before the order was placed with Silestone was early, but very courteous in making sure that we would be available. We received the final measurements and order confirmation the same day that the measurements were finalized. At this point the process did break down a bit. We never did receive a phone call to schedule the installation, so after four weeks (the time we were told to expect before installation occurred) I emailed the person who had done the final measurement, later that day we received a phone call to schedule the installation. The first install date had to be rescheduled, but after that it went very well. The installers were courteous and did the job as expected.

more to come on that. If they do a good job, we'll use them again, if not NO never.
Description of Work: They've estimated for us a big project (~$26K)- nearly a remodeling effort. Big selling point is that they do all the coordination of work. Only we found that they don't do some of the coordination such as plumbing install for the new sink we want - that is extra, plus moving appliances out of the way for counter top was a dissatisfier. We asked them to reattach/install the dual fuel stove/oven if they needed it out of the way and include in the price. Jeez! This was supposed to be a one stop shopping experience. We also have to get our own electrician and tiler for the walls. So it is not one -stop project work. We eliminated the need for the electrician and are okay with the separate tiler for now. We'll see how it goes - they plan to install cabinet refacing and silestone countertops 2/6/12 - 2/10/12. George is nice, but we have to follow up for the tougher issues.

General appearance at the end of the project was good. The materials used were very thin and not very durable looking. Very thin laminants on the cabinets sides and faces. The doors looked good and the counter tops looked good. Measurements were off in some areas. I couldn't reuse my garbage can holder because there wasn't enough room for it. There were two serious gouges taken out of the tile on each side of the kitchen walls where the counter tops had to be installed. The pieces of tile were not retained so no repairs were offered or easily possible. Floor was scuffed slightly during the work. What caught my attention was how adamant they were about how we would be completely satisfied or they would fix any problem we had. But when they were going to come over to take pictures and my wife put them off for a couple days there was no second call. All in all, for the money, the job went fairly well and looks generally good but I wouldn't have them work on my dream home. For the money they were adequate and the posturing by the salesman referring to quality was just that.

I think the work was done well. We are pleased with the work the installer did, and the door seems to be of good quality. I think the installation cost was high (about 500) the sign on their door displays says "Doors installed for $247" but of course there's an asterisk, and all kinds of added costs, that of course would be added to any door installation.
Description of Work: Purchased a special order fiberglass door at Home Depot and had their installation services (Crew 2) install this front entry door.

We began our kitchen rebuilding project by getting a free estimate from "George" through Woodbury Home Depot. George was fun and thorough. All the carpentry work was done by Travis Cunningham. He was very responsible. He came when he said he would, explained situations when necessary, and did an outstanding job overall. We would use him again. The Silestone counter top was installed by Luis and Agustin. They had to do some on site cutting and shaping, with very nice results. The new granite composite under mount sink is beautiful. The new garbage disposal is so quite it is barely audible. We are glad we chose Home Depot of Woodbury to do this project. We will be redoing our kitchen floor next and they will be asked to give us a bid.
Description of Work: Home Depot contracted with 3 different service groups to replace all 24 cabinet doors and 22 shelves or drawers and reface and reside all cabinet surfaces. They also replaced our formica counter top with a Silestone counter top. Finally our sink, garbage disposal and faucet were replaced.

The first appointment was a "no show". We were told that there was a mix-up between the office and the representative. The rep was about 1 hour late on the second appointment. She was very talkative (personal info, anecdotes, non-stop chatter) and didn't stick to business. Much criticism of competitors and their products. Obviously looked for opportunities to sell us additonal windows. We literally had to call a halt to the sales process after over two hours and tell her we couldn't spend any more time with her. Her bid for one casement and one picture Simonton window was $3300, the highest bid we received. The windows were excellent but the bid was just too high. When we called to tell her we would not be using her company, suddenly we were eligible for an additonal 10% discount, which still did not make the bid competitive.
Description of Work: We had Pamela Swenson come to the house to give us a bid on replacing two windows. This was a straightforward tear-out and replacement in an 8 year-old house, nothing comlicated.

They sent their people out to do measurements. We were able to pick out our own granite from the quarry and everything went great.

Originally contracted to completely remodel our kitchen. I then subcontracted out the floor to someone else as Home Depot flooring department made me anxious when two supposedly "floor" people could not tell me if they could get standard oak flooring. We then subcontracted the granite for the only reason Home Depot won't let you pick out your slab and they have a limited selection. The demo went OK, except for the fact that they threw the old cupboards a story below onto my driveway which resulted in me getting two flat tires, one that went through the sidewall at a cost of over 300 dollars. Next, when they moved my stove to the new island location, they hadn't thought of the fact the stove went right over the heat register. This was plainly obvious when they designed the kitchen. They told me it was my problem, so I subcontracted the diversion of the register for another bill of over $300. Much more, running out of space here.

It went fine. Initially, we had trouble finding outfits that would only replace one window and while we could have had a discount on replacing at least three at the same time, it just didn't need to be done. Home depot came out for an evaluation and an estimate. We opted for getting just the one window done and the installation went smoothly.

I went to price carpet and check on installation. My current basement has a vinyl tile of unknown composition from the 1960's. It may have asbestos in it. Home Depot will not install carpet over vinyl tile of unknown composition. I contacted the State of Minnesota Asbestos office, and they recommended installing carpet/pergo or whatever over the tile instead of removing it, and that there is little to no risk of asbestos exposure by installing carpet over vinyl tile. I was disappointed in Home Depot's unresponsiveness to this situation.
