HIGGINS CONSTRUCTION

It went very well and I am happy to have my living room ceiling look great again. I also appreciate how they cleaned up everything after they were done with the job.

Mike Higgins is the BEST contractor we have worked with. He's not a flashy, fast talking, white patent leather shoes salesman type guy like so many of the big contractors that advertise a lot but Mike is extremely good at what he does, has reasonable bids, and finishes on schedule. That's what counts!!!! Mike also returns phone calls and kept us in the loop at all times. Some of his workers are a little unconventional but they are all very skilled, courteous and professional. I never once was concerned about having them in my home. We even were gone overseas when they did a lot of the work. I have to give credit to where it's due: Mike Higgins did an exceptional job for a very reasonable price.

Everything was first rate. Mike arrived on time and returned his description of work needed quickly. We had met with a few contractors, but Mike listened more to what we were looking for than trying to sell us on a grand vision that we were not looking for. It was an easy choice to hire Higgins Construction. Drywall was hung, taped, mudded and sanded in a timely fashion. Would definitely work with again if the need arises.

Mike with Higgins Construction came out promptly for a bid and was very thorough with the steps needed. He was responsive and professional and worked with the narrow time frame when the window was going to be removed. We have an older home and he was able to match the siding and paint perfectly. Great job and we would not hesitate to work with him again.

We were very pleased with the painter and the carpenter. The only glitch we had was the carpet layer cancelled the first three appointments. However, the entire job was still completed within three weeks. I would definitely use this contractor again.

The remodel went very smoothly. Mike was always prompt in returning calls and making any adjustments to remodel that we thought about during the process. Everything was done perfectly. We love cooking in our kitchen now and looking out over the backyard through the new opening in the wall. Love it!!!!

A large tree limb fell on my garage during a windstorm and caused damage to the roof, gutter and one of the walls. A small tree branch also punctured the roof of the house. In looking for a contractor to repair the damage, I found Mike Higgins on Angie's list. He returned my call the same day, and came out the next day to inspect the damage and provide an estimate for repair. It was almost a month before the insurance adjustor examined the damage, and Mike kept in touch during that time. He was there to meet with the adjustor the day he arrived, and to discuss the needed repairs. Supplies were ordered and the repairs began within the next 2 weeks. The workers were all courteous and did a great job of cleanup. They were patient with my questions, and the work was done in a timely manner. I would definitely call Higgins Construction again!

The Higgins Brothers did a great job and for the amount they quoted for the job. We would highly recommend them to others.

Mike was truly the most pleasant contractor we have worked with over the 15 years of owning our home. He was incredibly patient with us through our decision making process and was helpful with ideas to make the final product more functional. We ran into an in-wall water problem during the final stages of the project and he found the problem, fixed it, and simply charged us a small fee for materials used. We installed some new cabinetry in our basement during this remodel. The cabinet maker Mike has is a talented and thorough gentleman. He listened to what we wanted, not what they wanted to build, something we didn't find with some of the larger companies. The cabinets turned out amazing. Mike is an honest, Christian, family man that can be trusted to do the job without us having to be at home during the process. His entire crew cleaned up every day and was very respectful of our house and property. It is very difficult to find this kind of a ethical company with all the choices out there. We already have plans to have Mike do more work for us in the future,

I was really disappointed after trying to work with another company- it was clear they didn't want our job. I came to Angie's List and started researching. After comparing a few options (profiles, websites, etc), I started messaging. Higgins was the top of my list. I liked their style of work, craftmanship, and general ethic. My initial gut feeling was right on! I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call within 30 minutes of messaging from here on Angie's List. We arranged a time and MIke Higgins came over for a walk through (he was right on time, no waiting around on my part). I felt instantly at ease and knew he'd get us taken care of. We went down for a walk through. I told him what I liked and what my vision for the space was. He made some measurements and notes. Within a few days, he got back to me with a fair estimate. The excellence continued with every day they were here. The entire Higgins team was flexible and very patient with my children who were very curious about everything going on. They were also careful to protect the kids' rooms from dust and debris (my oldest has asthma). They carefully cleaned up at the end of each day. I appreciated Mike's flexibility as ideas changed. We also found the timeline very reasonable. I will absolutely call them again and would suggest them to any family or friends needing work.

The team was great to work with in every category. I didn't do a ton of price comparisons because I liked Mike and trusted him, and to be honest I wanted to start the project and he would start it in my timeline. We have a small 1950's rambler. The team arrived when they said they would, met deadlines (and were ahead of schedule), were great with my kids and in tight living quarters while performing the work, performed good quality work, and when issues did arrive, my questions and concerns were addressed promptly and with a high degree of customer service. I would definitely work with them again on future projects.

Excellent! I really enjoyed working with Mike. He was very helpful in designing a project that would be with-in my budget, look great and be done in a reasonable amount of time. I was also really happy that he was able to adjust to my schedule and spend the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I would have preferred to choose Mike for this project, but the owners of the duplex I manage chose someone else just to make the tenants happy. I will definitely call Mike again the next time I need help on any projects.

Bottom line; I was very happy working with Mike and I will call him anytime I have another project that I need help with. the Mike was very professional, punctual and helpful. He helped me through the important steps of setting up a project this large so I would understand how each piece of project would affect my budget. He also took the time to explain all of my different options so I could end up with the a quality finished product that gave me all the things i was looking for. I also appreciated that he could flex to my schedule for our meetings but since he was already currently working on another project; I chose another contractor that could start immediately. Mike was able to do everything I asked except drop everything he was working on just for me(which of course is an unreasonable request on my part) As I mentioned at the start, I will definitely call him again.

This is a change in my original review.At first I was very impressed with higgins responsivness and understanding of what I wanted.Theses are some of the things that happened. The deck they put in needed a supporting beam when they were done they just left a big hole around the concrete. They did not use a metal detector to find nails and debris left by their work.I stopped counting when I got to 75 nails left in my backyard and I have pets that could have been injured. They removed a vent on the house and just left it on the ground, didnt tell me when they were comming to put in the stove exhaust so nothing was covered nor did they cover anything. I had to rewash every dish and appliance I had in the kitchen, when they left the first day there were huge chuncks of insallation and he was leaving and i asked if he was going to clean up the work area and his response was "Do you mean you want ME to clean it up" The plumber left the old parts he was replacing just laying around and didnt repair the hole he made in the wall. Asked higgins multiple times to correct this and he kept saying he'd send someone over. Several deck slates on the railing were not attached, when his people needed wood if I happen to have what they needed they'd just take it and use it without my permission.These are just a few things but a project I started out being very happy with turned into a sloppy job and costing me even more money when they would use my wood some of which was part of the landscaping. They replaced my garage floor, which they did well and several feet of the apron. Everything is leveled properly except one small spot right next to the house and causes all the water run off to go to that corner and then into the flower bed which led to 20 gallons of water in spring thaw to end up in my basement, never had a problem before and the level showed that one spot was not done correctly not just me checking but had an engineer check it to verify that the slope was incorrect and he did. It comes down to sloppy work and lack of respect for my property.

I was in a rather unique situation in that my insurance company told me that I had to get a new root, at my expense, or they would no longer cover our home. The roof was 25 years old but we had no problems with it. Needless to say, it was an unexpected expense during times with things are financially getting harder. Thus, I asked around, relying on word of mouth, for about a month and found a few so-called contractors who said that they would do the job, but unfortunately, the way they conducted their business destroyed my confidence. I needed someone who I felt I could trust, who had the right credentials, prompt, professional and reasonably priced. I turned to Angie's list and found Higgins Construction. From the beginning Mike was very professional and did everything that he said he would do when he said he would do it. Mike came out to my home for an estimate the first day I called. I told him of the other quotes I had received and he offered a very competitive price. The quote was for 3-tab asphalt shingles, due to the fact that I was trying to get the job done for the least amount of money, without compromising my home. He offered to due lifetime architectural shingles for an extra $100. I signed the contract on that deal because I realized how good a deal it was for the total price being charged. When the workers showed up they arrived before 7:00 am and were done around 5:00 pm. They were fast, focused and personal. They cleaned up well, spared the flowers and shrubs, picked up all the nails and cleaned up as if they were never there. I was really pleased to have such a great job done at such a low price. Everyone I talk , who knows about roofing cost, said I got a great deal. In light of that, I highly recommend Higgins Construction for anyone who is looking for good work, professional, at a reasonable price.

They did a very good work. They even replaced a part of the fence. He even went of the way once to modify windows to fix the air conditioner. Even though he does bigger project he took time to do some small projects for my mother and me. He was very reasonable. He gave me an itemized list of things to be done and explained it to me. He helped me very nicely.

Mike was easy to work and talk with. Together we developed a description of the work and, working from that he provided an estimate. The work proceeded smoothly despite the increased scope due to discovered damage after the gutters were removed by another company. The deck repair was done first and that experience made me entirely comfortable in proceeding to the additional work with a verbal agreement and handshake. This allowed a timely completion and minimal delay for the deck refinishing which was done by another company (Roof to Deck).

I thought the price was too high for the work. He was very responsive and was able to come right away for the quote. He was very thorough. We would consider doing business with him in the future, but this job won't work out.

Overall the experience went well...the cleanup was more than desired, but I think this is always the case. We had a little re-do needed, but overall the work was good.

Overall, the project went very well. Andy was very professional throughout the project and didn't try to sell me things I didn't need. He even arrived a little earlier than promised. He picked up my door for me (it wouldn't fit in my car), replaced my door, threshold, doorbell, and added insulation to the gap beneath the door. I negotiated the price with him and agreed to do the painting myself. I would highly recommend Higgins Construction and plan to use them again.

They were really excellent. Mike organized and worked with us. His employee Jim and his brother Andy also worked with us. We had a few estimates and we picked them. They seemed a lot more competent and they seemed to really take the care to evaluate the problems we had. We were really worried about the foundation issue we had and they took a lot of time to think it through. They talked to us about different options. Things would come up along the way and they would let us know and take care of them. They didn't overlook them because we might not have noticed and we appreciated that. They did a good job and we were happy. Their price was a little more than others.

I contacted Andy regarding the chimney work. He provided a competitive quote and was able to arrange to have the work completed within just a few days. He and Mike were very friendly and professional and I'm very happy with the work.

It went great! We were very please Higgins Construction. They were very professional, payed special attention to detail, had friendly and considerate workers,and their workmanship was fantastic! Our house looks brand new! We would definitely recommend them to all our family and friends.

It went great. We have a very old house with lathe and plaster walls and our back hall has been looking pretty bad for some time. There were holes in the wall where our boys had knocked their bikes against taking them in and out of the basement. Mike and his crew sheet rocked, taped and mudded all of the walls in the back hall and it looks incredible. They also did the same with a wall in our kitchen that had a big hole in it from the previous owners putting in electrical outlets. The brand new walls looks great and we were able to paint exactly how we wanted to. They had to tear out the awful indoor/outdoor carpet that was on the basement steps to get at some of area they were working but that was no problem for us - they saved us the trouble and it was much appreciated. We are very happy with the finished work.
