Very good experience. Called them to check on why the A/C was not cooling sufficiently. They arrived on time and checked the freon level which was marginal but not where it should have affected the cooling ability. They they continued to check the thermostat and other system settings. They then looked at the ductwork and determined that some ares of the house probably had insufficient airflow. They opened all the dampers in the ductwork, which remedied the cooling problem.

Scheduling was a bit tricky -- it took them over a week to come by. However, once they were here, everything was done quickly and professionally.

I met him in my driveway and accompanied him as he did a thorough check on the performance of my whole-house AC system. He started in the utility room and checked the temperature drop across the evaporator (or coil or something--I don't recall the exact technical language) and said it was good. He inspected the condenser unit outside and said it was running hot but still good and showed me how to do a simple cleaning myself to keep it running efficiently for as many years as possible. (He could have done this for me, for an additional fee, but said it's easy enough that I should just learn to do it myself.) He took the time to educate me about how the whole system works, talked about how we can run it more efficiently to squeeze better performance and life out of it, and, of course, said that when it wears out, which could be sometime in the next five years or so, he hopes we'll call them again to talk about a new condenser unit. He also gave me a rough estimate of what I'll be able to expect to spend at that time. Very professional, no up-selling pressure at all, a good experience.

Did a great job, start to finish.

I purchased this "big deal" just as my a/c was acting up. Uptown came out, inspected the system, found out capacitor was blown, replaced capacitor for $299 and found out whole system was shot and needed replacement. They would have applied the $299 if I had gone with them for the replacement. I went with Centerpoint Energy instead because of the financing options and I had worked with them before on a big job, i.e. furnace replacement in prior home. It was a big job, $4300 so it was hard to feel good about the $330 I spent with Uptown. They did the job they were hired to do, however. They were punctual, professional and explained the issues to me sufficiently.

I liked the way he inspected everything. He went over what he did with us afterwards. The technician did seem a little rushed, though, which is my only criticism.

One of the other bathrooms upstairs, he simply turned off and did not tell us not to use it. He gave us a quote of what it would cost to replace our 4 toilets and it was ridiculous. I would never use them again.

They were prompt, did a good job and cleaned up when done. They listened to what we wanted done and were pleasant to work with.

He offered me 4 different options, from $600-$1600 with different levels of service calls and warranties. I felt that the prices were a bit high for the work I needed done. He called me 20 minutes after the time he was supposed to be there to tell me that he would be here in 20 more minutes.

Service technician showed up in the time window allowed, however he showed up towards the end of the window and only called ~20mins before he got there. Not a big deal for me, but for those at work it probably matters. They were very professional and knowledgable but expensive. The system was recharged, he answered any and all questions I had, and also fixed a wiring issue for the same cost. Overall a good experience but the cost was substantially more than other places quoted.

Our AC had broken-down last summer, so we knew that at the start of this season we would need to make a major repair. We called in Josh from Uptown HC because of our previous good experiences with him and his company. As usual, Josh took plenty of time explaining our options and giving us the needed info to make a decision. Within 2 days, his serviceman was at our home and replaced what was needed. Time, price, experience were all as expected.

The service was great all the way from setting the appointment to the work in our home. Everyone was helpful and the contractor was on time and did a great job. I would recommend using them.

Robert arrived promptly and was fantastic. He was very personable and very professional. He spent hours working on my furnace and central air, but unfortunately they were irreparable. He explained everything as he worked to keep me abreast of the situation. I will need both replaced so he gave me quote, but did not charge me anything extra for all the time and effort he spent on attempting to fix the issue. I will definitely have them do the work to replace my furnace and air unit.

Dan, the plumber, arrived almost half an hour early and went right to work. Inspected both toilets (at my request) and replaced flushing valves in both. Also checked three sink faucets and we discussed possible replacement cost and what needed to be done. Dan was very helpful, answered my questions carefully, and suggested what to use to clean some stains on the sink, and told me what I thought was mildew was actually lime stains from the water. As I live in a condo, there was not much else to check and he was on his way in about half an hour.

When informed of the cost for an estimate, I canceled the appointment.

This was an Angie's List 'groupon' special -- total cost for repairing an outside leaky faucet was $150. The repair person was on time, friendly and professional. I would definitely use this company again.

It went really well. They were prompt, courteous and I would highly recommend this company to other members.

The company contacted me to set up an appointment and was very professional. The plumber arrived right on time and asked to see what jobs I wanted done. After looking at the two main requests, he had a notebook with laminated pricing pages, there were 5 levels of price/service options for each job, with the lowest being more than $250 each. He did not press me to take any particular category, and I took the lowest in each. Apparently I am naive, because when I saw the price, I thought fixing those items must be more complicated than I thought, so I agreed. I didn't watch him work, but I was surprised when he had both completed in less than 45 minutes. While both items were repaired successfully, I think that $500+ for 45 minutes and (I would guess) minimal parts seems excessive. Replacing the kitchen faucet would have been $500+ so I decided not to do that.

The technician arrived on time and quickly inspected our attic AC unit that wasn't cooling well. He wore booties on his shoes to protect our carpet. He brought all his own equipment including a ladder to get into the attic. He gave me several options to choose from after he isolated the issue. He answered all of my questions and seemed thoroughly knowledgable. I thought the price was a bit high for a recharge, especially when comparing prices to other Angies List members, but it was offset by their low service fee.

He told us immediately how much it would be to fix the toilet and then told us how to maintain a clean drain in the bathtub.

Good. I was getting quotes and my neighbor suggested I contact Uptown as they had installed their heating system. I also passed a house with a sign in the yard as the owner walked by and asked him about his experience. He had great things to say, so I called. Their quote was higher than others I'd received, so I called Josh and talked through the quote. after talking, he quoted me a slightly smaller system and was much more in line. The really great thing about Uptown is their install strategy - they bring a big crew and get it all done in one day. We scheduled, I paid a deposit about a week before. They showed up when they said they would (7:30 am), we did a walk-thru to talk and they were off & running. They were actually done by about 2:30 or 3. The crew was nice & made friends with my dogs first thing so they weren't barking or stressed out. I scheduled my inspection, and the inspector was very impressed with the work...so, overall really good.

They did a good job and were professional.

I was extremely happy with the services received and will definitely hire Uptown again in the future. Uptown was excellent for a lot of basic reasons: They were punctual for their 7 a.m. appointment with me, they were efficient and professional with their work, and my air conditioner works perfectly now. These are all things Uptown did great at, but there are several less tangible items that make them really stand out in my mind: 1. They seemed to treat my house as if it were their own. They put covers on their shoes every time they came inside and cleaned up after themselves nicely.2. We have a fairly large dog that they were very friendly with which I appreciated.3. My wife (who has a history of kicking repair people out of our house if she's uncomfortable with them) was home alone when they came - she felt extremely safe, comfortable, and well respected by them. 4. They were very honest and didn't try to sell us more than we needed. I have an older air conditioner and asked if it was worth repairing or if it should just be replaced. They could have easily convinced me to buy a whole new air conditioner from them but were very honest in their assessment of it and suggested a repair was more cost efficient at this time. My only not perfect part of this experience was scheduling the appointment. I first attempted to contact the company via email and didn't hear back for over a week before I gave up on that and called them instead. When I contacted them via phone, they were very friendly and responsive and we got an appointment quickly set up. Based on my experience, this company should be called rather than emailed if you're trying to get an appointment. Next time I need a repair or a when the time comes to buy a new air conditioner I will be very comfortable calling the crew at Uptown Cooling.

Based on my experience, you don't need to waste your time shopping for other service providers, you can hire Uptown with confidence. From the first call, I got caring and professional service. The folks in the office were very friendly and listened well. Too many places you call and the person who answers makes you feel like you interrupting something much more important. That's not the case at Uptown. Then the technician, Robert, was nice, friendly, and very competent. He communicated very well and helped me understand exactly what the problem was, what the possible causes were, and what my options were. He gave me choices and did not push to sell me a new unit like a lot of other places have done with me. Also, as a curious person, I wanted to watch everything Robert was doing and he was more than willing to show me everything he was doing. I ended up getting a refresher course in Thermodynamics in addition to an AC unit that is working again.
