Upton's service was excellent in every way. They should better screen the outside contractors they use for removal.

Chris arrived on time, and even wore some house shoes to avoid bringing in and mud or dirt from outside. He was very friendly and explained a lot of things to me and gave me some tips on how to best keep everything in good working order. I wasn't pressured to buy anything and overall the experience was great. I definitely look forward to doing some business with them.

The service was fine, and I will consider them again when in need of plumbing repair.

When I contacted the company to arrange an appointment, they pitched a fit when they found out where I live (SW suburb). They didn't specifically say that they wouldn't serve this area--just complained about how far it was for them--and then they said that the terms of the Big Deal specified a particular service area. It did not. I triple checked every word on the screen and the printed page--absolutely nothing about a service area. In fact, given that they were called "Uptown" Plumbing, I assumed that they were in the uptown area which I go to all the time. Since it is maybe 15 miles, I thought it was a reasonable choice. Apparently not. They continued to complain about the distance and how they really did not want to drive that far. I later checked mapquest with their address and found out it is 21 miles door to door. Since they were so angry about the horrendous distance--even though there was no service area or list of zip codes listed in their promotion--I decided that if they did reluctantly come, the service would be mediocre at best, and they would somehow find a way to overcharge for any service beyond the scope of the Big Deal. Punishment for having them honor the deal. Since we had never needed any plumbing repairs before, I also wanted to find someone that I liked and could rely on for future needs. I knew there was no way I would call them again, so I told them to forget it & I requested a refund from Angie's List for the purchase price. I guess they want to service a small radius right around their shop. That's fine, but it should be spelled out somewhere.

Very quick to respond. He provided a quote that was more than I wanted to pay to replace the sink in the kitchen. I ended up doing the work myself.

My toilet probably needs to be replaced and I felt Uptown's price was too high.

Work was done quickly and well

They were able to come out quickly and explain everything that needed to be done to fix our ac and furnace. They even had an opening in their schedule a couple of days after the estimate was done. Although we decided to wait since summer was half over, we wouldn't hesitate to call them again next summer or whenever we need work done.

.I made my decision to install the new units on 12/12; Uptown came out with two trucks and three guys, all uniformed and polite, early Saturday (12/15) morning. Not bad for an upgrade job. They had all the tools, parts and ability with them from the start to finish the job, and left a very clean job site in their wake. They did have wrong thermostat, but promptly brought out the upgrade a few days later, with no quibble. Before leaving they insured that the work was done to our satisfaction. Their follow-up packet of papers is quite professional, and will make it easy to finalize the permit inspections (Uptown filed all the necessary paperwork, and the costs wee included in the upfront cost), and file for the rebate with Centerpoint.

I contacted Uptown and their staff was friendly and fast at setting up an appointment. On the day of the appointment Uptown called me and kept me updated on when the technician would arrive. Andy, Uptown's boiler specialist, was very knowledgable and diagnosed and corrected the problems quickly. The computer settings were wrong and an automatic filler valve was not installed as it should have been when the system was put in 2009. Andy installed the valve and reset the system. I have had no problems with the heating system since Uptown's service call. I plan on having Uptown Plumbing check my system on an annual basis from now on.

We ordered a plumbing deal through Angies List because our air conditioner was leaking on a Sunday. This is a two part air conditioning unit (we have a boiler system furnace), located outside and in the attic. The attic unit needs to be accessed through a window from the outside. The attic area is well insulated, so the pipes are buried in the insulation. The company sent a technician to our home within a couple of hours and he determined that in fact the unit was leaking. He provided an estimate of $450 on top of the $29 we paid for the service call. Since he was already here and the leak, while slow, was still menacing, we decided to go ahead with the repair. The pipe and coupling were repaired (I assume, since the leak stopped) in a reasonably short time. The serviceman was professional and courteous. I rated this a C on price because I think it was a bit steep for the time involved.

I chose provider due to an offer on Angie's List. Provider could not make home visit for a week. Was punctual and friendly. Gave me options to correct the problem, ie replacing parts or replacing unit. Gave me price list and product choices along with timelines for replacement.

They were professional. They got here a couple minutes before their scheduled time. They did a nice job of connecting everything and we haven't had any problems w/ the pipes.

The technician arrived on time and completed his work completely and efficiently. On completion I was provided with a receipt with the results of the testing and the work done.

He came at 7:30 and had to leave to get parts and finished about 10:15. The workman knew his trade and did good work. The humidifier was leaking and so was the tap on the water line. He replaced (Plumbed in) the hot water tap and fixed the leak in the humidifier with another part. I was shown pictures and prices from a preprinted book and really didn't hsve much choice. I originally put that humidifier in for $250.00 total. I think I could have had a new one installed close to the same price for the repair but since I had already invested in the Angies List Big deal I felt committed.

The estimate for the faucet for very high. Seems like they have a book the plumbers have to go by when estimating jobs and this was way off. I had somebody else install the faucet for $250 less.

I woke up and discovered the furnace fan was blowing but not generating heat. I called around 8:00 to a few places and Uptown was the only one who could be to my house that morning. They quickly determined that a bird had come down the chimney and gummed up the works. They said they could replace the part for $600 or put in a new furnace. As the furnace was about 20 years old I decided to replace it. Uptown was very good about adjusting the components to fit our space - there was no room for a high efficiency filter, so they put in the conventional filter on a high efficiency furnace. They finished the project the same day and my house was plenty warm by late afternoon. They took care of the rebate paperwork, which I received a few weeks later. All in all a great experience. They did everything they said they would, and quickly.

Gave me good advice on what was causing low water pressure flow. Was not authorized to perform work need to correct low flow. Later fixed by city-referred plumber. Toilet also works well.

very courteous, high quality work

The tech (Matt) who came out was very courteous, knew just what to look at, told us the problem and gave us a quote. Since it was just the cartridge that needed to be replaced, we opted to do the work ourselves. There were no qualms, and he was very professional even though we didn't have him do the work. After spending the entire next day looking for the part (not carried by the bigger chain stores, and not under warranty since we are not the original homeowners), we almost wish that we HAD asked them to do the job, just to save us the headache. If we can't get what we need, we will definitely give them a call. And if we need additional plumbing work in the future, they are first on our list.

Dan arrived promptly and gave me detailed estimates for all the job packages available. He arrived on time, and he performed the job quickly and with very little mess.

Called Uptown and explained that I was not getting adequate water from water heater to humidifier. Set up appointment, which was a very easy process. Service Tech arrived on time, assessed situation, made recommendation (which was right on in my opinion) and then I gave him ok to complete the work. Entire process was very hassle free and I would use this vendor again.
