By the time I had the time to get the appointment made, I had extra questions. Dan and the office personnel were great about answering questions they had already answered, or investigating new ones I had. The installation went great. I let them in and they worked quietly and diligently in the basement. Moving water heaters I am sure is a big job, they did everything without a scrape or an issue. I am really happy with the way it was installed, vented, and how things are working in my house. Recently, I did call about whether I qualified for an energy rebate. They left a message with me right away, doing all the investigating for me. Next, I received an envelope in the mail, had to sign and put it back. Awesome. This whole process was pretty easy and painless. Great to work with.

He came and looked at the furnace for 20mins or so and then he went out to his car and sat out there for around 20mins. He was writing up bids, he came back with 5 or 6 different levels of fixing it. I didn't want to go with any of them right them so he gave me the bill. I told him about the deal he said he deducted it and it was still 80.

After our yearly boiler inspection, we were told that our flame safety sensor and pilot light delivery system was dirty and needed to be cleaned. The technician gave us a variety of options and prices to resolve the issue. We agreed to the basic option which came with a 1 year warranty. The appointment was scheduled four days later. On the day the work was to be completed, we received a voicemail from Uptown explaining that the technician was having problems with his truck and also had a sick child and could we reschedule for the following business day. About an hour later we received another call from Uptown saying that they would be coming after all. The technician arrived at about 4:00, which was in the time window they had originally given us. After working on the boiler for about 20 minutes the technician explained that he and broken the pilot the safety sensor and he would need to go to North MPLS to get a new one. About an hour later he returned with the new part. The work was completed and the quality was good. My only critisim would be around the price. The quote that we were given did not detail the scope of the work. Parts and labor were all rolled in one price. When it was all said and done, the tech spent about 2 hours repairing the boiler and plugged in a CO detector for $850. The online price for a Bryant CO detector is about $79. If you deduct that amount from the overall bill, the hourly rate comes out to about $375 per hour. Even if you throw in a travel charge -that's a bit steep. Next time, we will ask them to break out the fees before agreeing to have the work performed.

They ordered the part and came back at a scheduled time. The part was installed and the unit cleaned. During the cleaning it was noted that the ignitor was almost done....he replaced it free of charge. I had just had the unit inspected by Home Smart's Metro Heating. OMG I am so happy to have found a good company who does it right. I am willing to pay a bit more for good work. Now I am set for winter. For REAL.

Installers came on time, worked continuously, and made sure everything was working correctly.

Uptown had a plumber, Ken, at our home within hours of my request. Ken assessed the situation, explained what would be necessary to replace the shutoff valves and provided several options to solve our problem. Because the repair would require the Water Department of Minneapolis to shut off the water to the house, a permit was required along with a two day waiting period. Ken made all the calls necessary to coordinate with the Water Department. Two days later, the water was shut off as scheduled and Ken replaced the faulty valves. He was very helpful in explaining what he was doing. He performed all the work in a neat and professional manner. In addition to replacing the shutoff valves, Ken checked and cleaned all faucet aerators throughout the house. We were very pleased with the services provided by Uptown Plumbing & Heating.

I purchase this deal w/Uptown Plumbing through Angie's List but I never needed the service so I never called them. They called me to ask whether we would like to set up an appt. I said "no" that we would call them if need be. The receptionist was polite and friendly. There was nothing negative in the experience.

Uptown came quickly to give us a bid and was thorough in explaining options for a situation such as ours. Our house is over 100 years old and did not have any ductwork. In addition, it has a small addition, formerly a porch, that is built on a slab, further complicating how whole house AC could be installed. They came for the installation on the date and time promised. They do the installation in one day by sending in a team rather than a few people taking many days. They have their own carpenter who cuts all the holes to run the small flexible ducts and he was careful in consultation about where to place the ducts to have the least visibility. They came first thing in the morning and the whole house-two full floors plus the addition- was air-conditioned by six pm. The workers were polite, respectful of property-wearing booties, laying down plastic and cleaning thoroughly at the end of the job- and were very competent. When there was a problem thereafter-a defective part-, they came back the day after the call was received in the evening by their answering service. In fact we got a call that evening assuring us that the problem would be resolved the very next day. They came and replaced the defective part. They also came back again to move a drain line to a better location. Each return made me appreciate them more. They stood by their work and fixed problems promptly without charge. That is the sign of a good company. The office staff is personable and pleasant to deal with as well. All round a pleasant experience.

They were available after hours. The furnace made a loud noise so I shut if off. They diagnosed the problem. They had meters and were very professional. We agreed on the part to repair and the cost and the date. I was very impressed by their knowledge and professionalism.

They were professional, courteous and promised not to leave until the problem was fixed. I like that they specialize in older homes since mine was built in 1924. Great experience from customer service to the service professionals. Will definitely use their services again.

It was pretty shabbily done. They were supposed to get a quote to us and I followed up with 3 phone calls over a 6 week time period. Each time the person would promise to get us a quote and a quote was never received. I ended up asking for my money back and didn't get anything done with them. The people that answered the phone were very polite. They apologized when the ball was dropped and they would promise that someone would get back to me with a quote and the ball would get dropped again.

It went quite well. It was less than an hour all told to have them stop out and I would use them again.

Had to have an inspection of the furnace units in my duplex. Uptown came out and did the inspection. The price was a little more than I thought it would be but I never clarified with the vendor what the final price would be. When the final bill was drafter I was given a price. I then presented my Big Deal voucher which was incorrectly applied. I was given $49.50 as a discount which is the same amount I paid for the voucher. Uptown had a coupon for $49.50 off of service so I think there was some confusion. Once the voucher is refunded the net effect will be the same so it should work out just fine!

Could not correctly diagnose the problem. Refunded my purchase.

The scope of work they were willing to do was not communicated properly. Very simple repairs ended up costing more than necessary and original coupon offer wasn't honored to my satisfaction (bait and switch). Plumber complained about having to do a simple task like going under sink to tighten a nut with a larger crescent wrench, and therefore didn't do it. One toilet is still running and not fixed after parts were replaced.

I contacted Uptown for information on ductless systems for homes with radiators. I was provided information on additional options, along with detailed costs and the advanages and disadvantages of each. I am glad i did not go with ductless and chose the large duct A/C option. It is remarkably quiet and effective and significantly cheaper than the small duct option. My rating of price refelcts an August 20% discount. Various Uptown workers arrived between 7 and 7:30; unloaded and got to work. The carpenter, electrician and others worked as a team to get the entire system installed and running by mid afternoon. They did an excellent job keeping tarps down and cleaning up after their work. I should have covered a few additional items for plaster dust but over all dust was minimal. I especially appreciate the positive teamwork of all the workers.

Fortunately, I called another company who only charged me $200.

I called on a sweltering hot Sunday for AC repair. I don't mind spending the "penalty" for after hours service. However, I was told that company only services its warranty customers on Sunday. What a shame. Many AC repair companies don't work on Sunday. Uptown Plumbing & AC does work on Sunday, but they turned my business away. If I ran their business, I would use Sunday's to grow my base of new customers (not just warranty customers). A good customer is like an annuity stream. I've used them in the past for plumbing issues. However, I don't feel a strong sense of loyalty to them after today's experience.

The check-up seems very thorough. They are always very nice and answer any questions I may have. We used them to replace a broken tub spout too and they were fast plus it looked better than the original when they were done.

The work ended up being under warranty so we had our original company do the work for free. The basic diagnostic we got from them was not going to determine the problem. For us the diagnostic did not meet our needs.
