I was told the converter was shot and needed to be replaced (when another provider told us it was a simple and inexpensive fix). We did not replace converter due to high cost, but at least we know what the issue is.

Mike and his team did a terrific job with the installation. In an old home, we were worried there could be unexpected issues, but since these guys are expects in these installs they figured it all out and we were really happy we went with them. They cleaned everything up nicely, and we are very happy with the final result.

They were kind of pricey, but they did a good job. They really knew their business and explained what they were doing and why they were doing things. For such a big job, it meant a lot to me to understand what was going on.

My only complaint is coupon seemed to indicate that someone from the company would call to schedule the appointment and not that I would have to call to schedule. My one time past experience with these Big Deal coupon's the vendor got in touch with me by phone or email. I mistakenly thought that would be the case hear.

Very professional and reliable team that answered all of our questions along the way. Huge improvement to the functionality of our heat; now we will never have to bleed out our hot water heat ever again. They are returning today to fix/tweak one little thing, demonstrating they'll make sure everything is done perfect. We will probably be using Uptown for mini split air conditioning this summer!

All when to plan. They provided solutions for my frozen pipe situation. Service individuals were quality servicemen that showed a strong set of skills and work ethic. Would use again.

It was just fine. They did all the work requested and had good advice about how the systems were working together. They did what was needed to be done. I was satisfied with the price and quality. They were friendly and helpful.

Water dripping from the basement ceiling was hot, and not from an ice dam as I originally surmised. Turns out it was pinprick hole in boiler pipe to the second floor that had been rubbing a nail for some 30+ years. Required two holes in the sheetrock ceiling to remove the damaged section, pipe replaced with solderless fittings. More complicated since to the second floor, which had to be drained. Furnace was also cleaned since it had been 6+ years since that service performed. Work was done on time, cleanly, and was scheduled the day after I called to accommodate my being home. Things like this always seem more expensive than I expect.

AMAZING. This is a fantastic company. When you live in MN and it is -3 and your furnace isn't working, you want a company you can depend on. The company I usually use wasn't available so after calling several other companies I found Uptown. Every experience I had was top notch!. The representative on the phone (Faith) was very thorough and followed up with me three times letting me know where the technician was. While talking with her I truly felt she was concerned for me and the empathy was clear. . The technician that showed up at my door (Jake) was very prompt in getting to my house. Worked very quickly and was very pleasant. He had me back up and running in 30 minutes, so I am writing this review with a working furnace. Overall I have nothing but extreme compliments for this company. I hadn't used them before but am blown away (no pun intended) by the great service. Their rates for emergency service are very competitive and in facet were cheaper than most companies. If you need service--this is a great company!

Great--quickly determined the issue and fixed the problem.

The salesman was nice and a veteran of the Iraq war, so I decided to use their business. They showed up late which was not a big deal. I left the house to go to work and got a call that they finished early. I thought that was good news, so I came home from work early excited to finally have central air in my house. When I walked in the front door, I noticed that all my furniture was covered in plaster and insulation and the furniture was pushed out of its normal place. The house was trashed. They cracked my ceilings putting in the vents and did a half hearted attempt to fix the cracks. They also must have stepped on a pot light in our back hall, because it was falling out of the ceiling. I got on a ladder and looked into the attic and I noticed that the brand new insulation I put in was destroyed and mixed up with the old vermiculite I was covering up. I called to complain and they came back and cleaned the house and did another half hearted attempt to fix the cracks in my plaster ceiling. Also, when the air conditioning came on the house smelled like the attic and the old insulation smell that comes with an old house. I was worried that my young children, 1 and 3 would be affected by the smell and potentially affected by the dust. I called again and the owner said he would come to my house to personally check out the installation. We set a time and day and I had to take an afternoon off of work to meet him. Well the appointed time came and went and he didn't show up. I called the office, and found out that he hadn't even left the office yet. It was now rush hour, so it took him almost an hour to get to my house. So, I gave up an afternoon of work so this guy could be 3 hours late to inspect his companies crappy work. He finally arrived and looked at his work and said that it was a proper installation and that his company wouldn't do anything to fix the cracks, the smell, the broken light, or the insulation. He wanted to argue with me in front of my 3 year old, so I asked him to leave. I had to pay another company to fix the insulation and my ceilings which cost me an additional 1,500 dollars. The house still smells like the attic whenever the air conditioning runs. So if it were up to me, I wouldn't use this company to do anything in your home.

I called at about 7 pm on a Friday because my heat stopped working. The scheduler was nice and helpful. She asked some initial diagnostic questions and said someone would be over by 8. Then she called back 10 minutes later and said that she was mistaken about who was on call that night and someone different would be coming by 8:30. She was apologetic and courteous and the mistake was no problem. The repairman arrived right at 8:30 and found the pilot light out. He relit it and said that the thermocoupler was the likely culprit of it going out and that it would probably fail again soon. He replaced it. It was probably 30 minutes. I didn't do a price comparison, but it seemed on the expensive side. On the other hand, they were very professional and a pleasure to work with.

There was no real issue but the technician was really helpful walking me through he basics if hot water heater general maintenance which I had no knowledge of.

Uptown installed a new boiler/hot water combination in our home in December 2012. During the recent (January 2014) cold snap (-20 air temps), the boiler was working steadily to keep our whole home warm. The constant flow of high temperature water caused the appearance of a very small leak (less than one gallon per day) where Uptown had joined the new pipes to the existing system. Uptown, on what must have been one of the busiest days of the year for them (what with the very cold temperatures straining heating systems across the metro), engaged an outside firm so that a human took down my message - not a voicemail. Uptown called me back in less than an hour, and scheduled the repair to be done at my convenience (since it was not urgent). The tech who came out was a member of the original crew that installed the new unit, so he was known to us and familiar with the installation. When the soldered joint proved tougher to fix than expected, he took the time and tools to do it right. Now: no leak - and since it was under warranty, no charge (and no argument). I remain quite happy with Uptown: its products, service, and staff are all professional and top-notch.

Initial bid for the minisplit system was slightly better than the bids I had received from other companies, and they were able to get to the installation very quickly once I decided to go with them. The bathroom fan installation was quite overpriced, but I decided to go with it just to get everything done at once. Installation went great and the crew was tidy and professional. However two thing went wrong, which independently took almost exactly two additional months to get straightened out. First issue was with the bathroom fan. This issue mailny had to do with the subcontracted electrician, but coordinating the fix with uptown required several calls and e-mails over the course of the next two months, escalating to mild threats on my part. The second issue was with one of the A/C head not working properly. I contacted Uptown again several times regarding the issue, and twice in a row I was told "I'll get back to you in a few days" only to NOT hear from anyone for TWO weeks, at which point I called them again to find out what was going on. Finally, the problem seems to be fixed, but only after considerable effort on my part to press the issue. All in all, the people I worked with were friendly, courteous and did good work. The women answering phones in the office provided excellent customer service. I could tell that everyone in the company really wanted to provide good service, however, the overall organization and follow up on the part of a few had some serious lacking. My experience with Uptown was overall not great, but I could see where I might have been a "worst case" scenario of different things going wrong with my project.

They were cordial on the phone and could come soon, when other shops were fully booked for boiler inspections. The main issue was a 1930's era leaking bleeder valve which had to be replaced. Since they were already here, a boiler inspection could be done also. The serviceman arrived as scheduled and was pleasant. He looked at the leaking valve and thot it would be simple to replace but couldn't proceed with that repair and the boiler inspection unless I bought one of a set of three selections of grouped services - starting at $600! I did not need more than a replacement part and an inspection. I paid the $40 truck charge for coming to the house. The next day I bought a new valve at the parts store for under $8 and installed it and then cleaned the boiler myself as best I could since I'd already spent $40 for nothing. I guess they were available because they aren't in the business of providing ONLY the service needed, which at that time of year is mainly boiler inspections, settings and cleanings. This seems like a strange business plan, but evidently if they can't sell you a "service plan" covering all contingencies on a heating system, they can't help you.

They were in and out in no time and left no mess. They were courteous and professional.

Dave was extremely helpful. After assessing the problem, he put together a variety of packages based on what needed to be done (renovate water circulation system and seals), what should be done because it was headed towards a breakdown (renovate flame safety system), and what he would recommend for general maintenance of the boiler. They all had different price points depending on what I could afford and what I wanted done. This is my first house with a boiler and radiators so I had a lot of general questions. Dave very patiently answered all of them and demonstrated exactly what I needed to do to bleed my radiators. Dave fixed everything I wanted. While in my home he wore shoe protectors and left the boiler area in my basement cleaner than when he arrived. It's been more than a week and everything is working well; my house heats more evenly than it ever has before. This is the second time I've used Uptown Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling and I plan to use them in the future. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

He explained what he was doing the entire time so that I might make similar adjustments in the future. The price was well worth both the fix and the education so that I might properly adjust the system in the future. I have already recommended Uptown to others and they have used them for similar problems.

From my first encounter I was impressed with the knowledge, experience, and professionalism of the team at Uptown. I live in an arts & crafts style bungalow and Chris understood my desire to improve the comfort of my home without compromising its character and charm. He was able to suggest options that met my needs and had good solutions for the idiosyncrasies of the project. The work was done on time and exactly as described. My questions were answered clearly and there were no surprises. All of the workman were friendly, careful and competent. My home was left clean and their workmanship is excellent. I also appreciated that they worked around my schedule as much as possible. I am delighted with Uptown and grateful for the outstanding job that they did. It was an expensive project, but I am confident the work was well-done by a trustworthy company and I really appreciate that.

We moved into a very old home last year (built in the late 1800s), and it had a boiler from the 1930s that we knew needed to be replaced. We started the search for a company to replace it in the fall. Chris from Uptown come out in October and walked us through the process of replacement, and was very professional. They had a competitive price compared to the other companies I checked out and ultimately decided to go with them. On the day of the installation, a team arrived at 7:30am sharp and began the process of removing the old system and installing the new one. It was well-orchestrated event as at one point there were about 10 workers running around the house doing different tasks. By 6pm, the whole thing was done and I had a new boiler. The house basement was cleaned up perfectly and I couldn't even tell they were there. The workers, including the lead installer, were all friendly and professional, keeping me updated on their progress and any issues they encountered. I've had the new boiler for over a month now and it's been working flawlessly. Even the inspector commented on what a good job they did! I plan on using them for my annual maintenance and calling them in the future for any issues. Thank you, Chris, and everyone at Uptown Heating!
