Description of Work: It was simple to get a prompt appointment for our deal- which was diagnostic in nature. The gentleman who came was professional and able to tell me the problem with my furnace promptly. The only problem was the cost of the solution. . . my furnace needed new venting and the quote seemed high- I ultimately found another plumber who did the work promptly and professionally for 50% less- saving us over $225.

Description of Work: Used an Angies list coupon for a 5 point toilet check. Was having some problems with my toilet flap not closing correctly even after a new flapper was installed. Their employee arrived on time and installed another new flapper and this fixed the leaking problem. He was very efficient and professional.

Description of Work: We got the toilet-tune up deal, but I can't exactly remember how much it was. Turned out the toilet was broken and he wanted another $250 to install a new part. When he tried to take it apart it then would not longer work at all. Seems like this was a bit of a bait-and-switch deal. We bought the parts at Home Depot for about $20 and fixed it ourselves.

Description of Work: Very nice and polite technician replaced a faulty part so we could have two separate heating zones in our house instead of the entire house being controlled by the basement thermostat. Was a little pricey, but those kind of repairs usually are. Very efficient and polite. Heating works great now.

Description of Work: Replace Flush Valve in toilet; toilet didn't run properly after a couple days. Called company and they did schedule a return visit promply. Treated drains; flushed out water heater - whole house plumbing inspection - the latter being what you only get for the money paid to Angie's list. Know that it will cost you a significant amount more.

Description of Work: Extremely fast service! I had a boiler that would not shut off. Turns out that it was a seized up gas valve. Uptown was able to locate the part and have it installed by the next day. The technician was very knowledgable. For on-going maintenance, Uptown has an annual program for boiler cleaning whereby you can save $100+ off the normal price.

Description of Work: This was a disappointing experience. First of all, it was very difficult to get something scheduled. Someone called me to make an appointment with a scheduler. So I had to deal with two people just to make an appointment. However, before I was able to confirm the time, I got a pretty strong sales pitch from the person on the phone trying to sell me a warranty, or two-year coverage plan or something. I really just wanted an AC tune up! When the technician finally came out to do the tuneup, he said everything looked great, nothing needed at all. Well, the next day, the A/C stopped working. I am serious. I called the company back to explain what was going on and ask them to come out again and take a look. They took my information and said they'd get back to me. A few hours later, someone called me back and wanted to split hairs about my air conditioning not working and inferring that it was just a coincidence that the A/C stopped working the day after their technician was there. They wouldn't come out that day to simply look at it again, so, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Overall, very frustrating. Would not use them again.

Description of Work: Drained hot water heater, replaced flapper on toilet and cursory inspection of the plumbing. Not much work but a bargain price

Description of Work: In addition to the inspection we needed help with a problem. We had a pipe from the toilet leaking into the ceiling below the toilet. The fellow fixed the leak, replacing some pipe and fittings, and then re-seated the toilet with a double-layer of wax to really seal it. He was sure that contributed to the leaking pipe. Nice guy. Very thorough job. Would hire again.

Description of Work: Replaced a seal under the toilet that was leaking. $235 total (with the $$39 Angie list money included) seems a little high, but then I'm not used to having someone come and do these things. My husband has become disabled and is no longer able to do lift the weight of the toilet to replace this seal.

Description of Work: Radiator on 3rd floor was leaking through 2nd floor ceiling. Technician came out, turned a screw and left. Maybe about a 5 minute job. Charged for trip and a full hour. I would not use them again.

Description of Work: I simply could not have been more satisfied with their work. As a customer service perfectionist myself, I scrutinize every aspect of a provider before hiring them. Ridler is one company that as a customer, I can say that I am proud to have worked with THEM!
