The reason I'm giving Harrison an "F" however, is because of their outrageous pricing, and refusal to talk to me in order to resolve my concerns. Harrison charged me $333 for what was less than one hour's worth of work, and I was NEVER given an estimate before the work was done, which is promised on their website. I have contacted Harrison several times, and even wrote/called to Jon Harrison directly, but to date they have never even once returned my calls or emails and absolutely refuse to address the concern. All I asked is that they explain to me how they arrived at $333 for the work performed, and if I was over-charged, then refund me. I have been polite about the whole thing. No more. Please, please, please, if you are considering Harrison, then GET IT IN WRITING before they do any work, and hope that they do it right , because once they have your money, they don't care about you any more. I will NEVER use them again, and I do not recommend them.
Description of Work: Get the cost in writing first! My experience with Harrison was twofold. I called them in order to have two switches replaced. I had installed a subfloor heating system, and just needed someone to help me wire it up. I had already installed the floor unit, run the wiring through the wall, and tested it with an ohm-meter. There was a light switch nearby configured as a 3-way, so I asked Harrison to replace that switch with the heating control which I supplied, and replace the other switch with a standard light switch. It was a very small job. I also asked for estimates on future work. Harrison arrived on time. The technician wasted a lot of time looking around for ways to run new wiring to the socket because he didn't see a common wire. *I* had to explain to him that the common wire was coming from the other 3-way switch already. After the head-slap, he finished the job. The work was done adequately enough, and everything works. He showed up on time. He was professional, but not as knowledgeable as I would have expected from a technician. I was NEVER given an estimate prior to the work being performed.

Very disappointing. It has been 3 weeks and now I start over. We actually had 4 schedules and I had to cancel one due to a funeral I needed to attend but I did call them 2 days in advance to notifiy them. They advertised that they worked on weekends and that was when I scheduled the time. I have a hunch they don't want to work on weekends or don't have staff that will.
Description of Work: I was initially impressed with their responsiveness over the phone but we have had appts scheduled 3 different times and 2 were no shows and one was a reschedule. I was disappointed. I realize mistakes happen but in neither of the no show cases did they bother to call me back to explain or express concern. Obviously after this last no show I did not bother to call them either.

Great work. Friendly & knowledgeable. Worked while I left the house. Ran into complication yet still completed it (I apparently have 2 layers of drywall). Only issue was their speed of ordering the door to the electrical panel that matched my cabinets (it's in my kitchen). Slow to return call. Absolutely terrible office staff/support, but the actual electricians are good.
Description of Work: Replaced entire electrical box/panel/breakers setup. Fixed a handful of dead receptacles. Fixed a handful of loose sockets. Installed GFI sockets in kitchen/bathroom/outside. Ran new connection to garage door opener. Fixed street-address light's sensor.

Matt was the ecectrician who gave the bid. He was extremely professional, and alerted us that we would need substantial upgrade out our breaker panel to do all that we were looking to do. The box was 35 years old, packed, and out of code. He did spend quality time going through the entire process of what he would recommend doing, how he would do it, and how long it would take. He used a 'straight-forward' pricing manual to help him price the bid. Unfortunately, the bid was excessively high, especially given that we weren't expecting a 75% increase to bring the house up to code with improvements! So what we thought would cost between $1500 and $1800 ended up bidding out for $2200 just for the stuff above plus another $2500 for updating the panel box and some wiring! Ouch! The other three bids for the work stated above came in between $1300 and $1800, much closer to what we expected. In the end, I was VERY impressed with Matt and how he represented Harrison Electric. It was his open honesty and professional recommendations that I would refer someone to Harrision for consideration.

This is the second time I have used Harrison and have had a great experience both times. I contacted them about an issue I was having with one of my outlets and the receptionist was great. They had me scheduled for an appointment within 24 hours. I received a call from the electrician 15 minutes before their arrival and they were well within the appointment window. He listened intently to the issue and spent time looking through the basement to diagnose the problem. Once he recognized that the work that had been done before was poor quality and posed a significant fire hazard, he offered to replace all nine outlets in the basement and worked with me on pricing. He was done within an hour and even took the time to open up the fuse box to ensure there were not any additional issues. He was pleasant to deal with and I appreciate the fact that he went the extra mile to give me peace of mind. Since this was the third employee from this company that treated me well, I have to believe they are doing something right.

Description of Work: can light light fixtures overheating, thought I'd need new ones but the tech. advised me on the proper specific bulbs for these fixtures, (and used ones I had already so that he'd only have to sell me the minimum amount) . turned out this did the trick plus i'm happier with the lighting- functionally and aesthetically in three rooms now

Our electrician spent a lot of time digging a trench and certainly spent a good 5-6 hours getting the job done. Overall it went well.. Jon's voice mail promises returning calls in 15 minutes and that's just not realistic - it would be easier / better to be a bit more reality based with time frames and following up on promises.

Barry came out to see what was wrong. He acted like he didn't know what was going on. My husband showed him what was wrong and what was needed. He took the component back to the company to find another one. He found a substitute part, but it wasn't set up for the criteria and didn't work. Harrison Electric again looked for this part. We had to call several times to see if they were working on finding it. Once they found one and put it in everything has worked perfectly.

It went great. Harrison has great employees who are pleasant to be around, courteous and helpful. They clean up and communicate about what's going on. They are very trustworthy. They had to work at the house for over three days and it was very easy going -- no issues at all. They also help find trim pieces and other miscellaneous projects. Also they are creative and helpful with ideas.
Description of Work: Harrison replaced entire electrical service panel, added circuit, added light fixture junction box, added junction box and light fixture, added light fixture and installed light over shower, replaced all old outlets (6) and swapped out GFCI outlets in laundry room. Ensured all locations were properly grounded, labeled new circuit panel.

The man came, looked at the wiring and saw it was fried. He checked the breaker. Then went into the attic to find the fixture under 18 inches of cellulose insulation. He replaced about 12 inches of uninsulated wire with new wiring and fixtures. Cleaned up after himself.

The owner answers the phone at night when you call the office. Quotes are prepared in writing and based on a published price list. Staff are very educated and qualified. They are extremely conscientious and reliable. They make suggestions for other projects, which is good for those who need good advice. They came out to install the flood lights, on time. They performed the work perfectly and the experience was positive. We did not comparison shop so I don't know where they come in price-wise.

The folks at Harrison were extremely friendly and professional. I had done a lot of the rough in work, so I thought they were a bit on the expensive side. Also, they put a couple of junction boxes in the basement in an area I had asked them to avoid because of future remodeling plans. However, I'm pleased with the finished project. And, I'd consider hiring them when we refinish the basement (if they move those junction boxes for free).

Joel Keefe was the electrician who came. This is a marketing concept. He pointed out the areas that needed work and gave us his pricing to do the work. We found out things about our electrical system that needed some attention. There was no obligation and we could certainly take that information to a different electrician to have the work done. I was very impressed. We did use that company for misc. things are we were very pleased with that.
