Have used Harrison before at my home, which is why I called again for some work at my business. One of the guys showed up the next day and was very personable and friendly. They contacted me several times thereafter to say they were going to give me an estimate, but they never followed through. Over the next couple of weeks I called the owner myself twice, and he said it was on his desk and he'd get back to me as soon as he got back to the office the next day. He NEVER called back. I finally gave up trying to get the estimate hired another electrician since Harrison Electric was so unresponsive. The weather was starting to cool off and we had a new furnace that wasn't hooked up yet. I won't use Harrison Electric again. They must not want the business.
Description of Work: Came in to measure and prepare estimate to add lights and outlets in our business.

Chris did a very thorough and complete survey and proposal for the upgrade. I needed to talk it over with my son and we decided we would need to wait till Spring to do job. Chris was punctual, courteous and professional. I feel confident in having Harrison Electric do this job. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: It was a simple fuse repair and Chris charged me for travel time only. While there he asked if he could do a proposal for an electrical upgrade on our service, which I agreed to.

My incident occurred before 7 am, and I was fortunate to get Chris to come out before 9 am. He was very prompt and courteous and walked me through his process as he diagnosed and then fixed the situation. Overall very happy with the service.
Description of Work: Test and then fixed an outlet that broke when my 3 year old daughter managed to slip a dime behind the nightlight prongs. We lost electricity in one bedroom and a bathroom.

Went great! John called before he came to make sure I was home. He arrived within the window we had originally scheduled. He was friendly and efficient. He did end up doing extra work, but did it cheerfully. He also took the extra time to give an estimate on a possible future job.
Description of Work: Originally I needed to find out why some outlets were not working. When the electrician was at my house I had him do an extra job--install a motion activated light switch in my mud room. I also had him give me an estimate on adding some new outlets to the third floor bedrooms. In addition, he recommended and and installed a whole house surge protector.

The electrician was here promptly, and did a professional job. He did exactly what I wanted done. He was friendly and helpful, and obviously knew what he was doing. He did the work in just a few hours. I am very happy with the quality of the work and how he did it.
Description of Work: Did some wiring in my garage, including adding a separate circuit for the garage in my breaker box. Wired for some new lights for the garage including adding switches for motion sensor lights.

This is the second time I have had Harrison Electric do work for me. The 1st time was a couple years ago when I had to rewire electrical work that was done out of code. I picked Harrison Electric based on the fairest price, professionalism and Angie's List reviews. Kevin was the electrician who came out to do the work, and I was very impressed with the quality of work that he did. This time around I didn't even bother with other bids because I knew the work that would be done and how the basic pricing compared to other companies. I requested Kevin to come out and do the work for me again. He was prompt, professional, and had excellent communication throughout the project. I highly recommend Harrison Electric, and I am sure all the electricians are similar, but specifically, I highly recommend Kevin to do your work.
Description of Work: Added kitchen lights, outlets, and added lighting in the work room.

I had Chris from Harrison Electric out to completely replace my electrical panel. The original panel was made by a manufacturer that no longer exists, so I couldn't get new breakers if I needed them. I am also considering putting in a steam shower, and there were not enough spaces in the box to accommodate, nor was there enough amperage to handle the increased load. We chose a day several weeks in advance when I knew I would not be home. He was here before I left for class so we could review what was going to happen, what access to the house he would need (panel is located in the garage). I left for class so he could work in peace. He texted me when he was done, explained that some of the breakers are double pole arc fault breakers. I came home that evening long after Chris was done. The place was neat and clean, everything working well. I chose to have arc fault breakers put in. When I moved into my town home in December, there was a scorched outlet in the basement, which concerned me. Further investigation found the builder had 'backstabbed' the outlets instead of wrapping the posts. Arc fault breakers are relatively new, so we were not sure if there would be any issues with them. The breakers have performed as expected over the last two months.
Description of Work: Replaced the entire electrical panel, move from 150 to 200 amp box, replace the panel grounding wire, added whole house surge protector, arc fault breakers, and a generator plug-in for future outages.

Quick, professional response. Took the time to locate the short and recommend a fix. Also recommended future upgrades for safety without pressuring us to decide on the spot. They arrived a little later than stated but only because they had to switch out trucks for reasons beyond their control.

I made a mistake putting Harrison Electric on this review as I was doing a review for another company and somehow put it for Harrison.
Description of Work: Maintenance of Heat Pump & Price included a two year maintenance program for the furnace and the heat pump. Update 3/13/2015: I made a mistake putting Harrison Electric on this review as I was doing another review for another company and somehow confused it with one I was going to do for Harrison Electric from September of 2013, although the rating for Harrison was an A rating also for the electrical work done on September 4, 2013.

My experience has been wonderful. I just picked them out of the phone book. They were very, very accommodating. I told them what I wanted and they said, "Okay. Do you want us to check anything else?" I told them, "If you see something that looks old and outdated, please come and let me know." They noticed that we had an outdoor plugin. I said, "Boy, that came with the house and that was a lot of years ago." He asked, "Should I check that for you?" I said, "Please." We do use the outdoor plugin now because it's been updated.

I had a guy putting in a new garage door opener and he kept getting shocked. I thought I turned the power off on the fuse box in the basement. It turned out that the fuse box switch did not turn off all the power in the garage. That is why he got shocked. An electrician came out, did some rewiring, hooked up to a circuit breaker and main box which switches it off entirely, and some rewiring in the garage. I thought he did a really good work and was prompt. I have used him a number of years ago in the past and he did good work for me then. That is why I called him this time. I needed somebody quick to avoid holding up the installation of the garage opener. So, he came out that afternoon. He was very good about it. I plan to use him again this spring to do some additional electrical work for me here. He seemed reasonable to me for what he did and the time he spent. I would rate them very high enough for the quality of work.

I had a really good experience with Harrison Electric. They came promptly. We had an issue and we needed someone to come right away and they came very quickly. They were very friendly. He tried to educate me on what he was doing and gave me ways to try to prevent things like that from happening in the future. It was really good all around. Their pricing was definitely reasonable.

Installed a new dedicated 20 amp circuit in our kitchen, to accommodate the planned purchase of a new gas stove with electronic igniters. Used 12 gauge wire, Romex. Used an existing blank breaker on our breaker box. Had to do some drilling in very old wood, and other work near very old, fragile octopus furnace ducts in the basement. The electrician, Kevin, was very tidy and careful, and explained everything he was doing.

Fourteen months after Harrison completed the work at our house they sent me a letter explaining that they had never called the Bloomington inspectors to close the permit. When the inspector came and asked what Harrison had done I explained that they scared my wife into replacing the breakers. He then asked what was wrong with the breakers (since apparently they are to last for decades), and we stated that there had been nothing wrong to our knowledge. He then told us that they have run into this kind of fear-selling out of Harrison. In short, we wasted $1200 on a service that we did not need. Also, I had Harrison quote a price to move a chandelier from one room to another. The electrician from Harrison quoted a price of $1400. We declined! BTW we had Tommy Electric, our regular electrician, move the chandelier for $250. In short, I will sit in the dark before I ever call on Harrison ever again. I will now be filing a complaint with the BBB.

John came out in early August to provide me with a quote on installing a new ceiling fan with lights in our living room with a 20ft ceiling. He was on time and very helpful with ideas on installing recessed lighting to better illuminate the room. John gave me a quote and after some additional research, went ahead with Harrison Electric. Job was scheduled to start and complete on August 27, 2013. Due to the extreme heat, John called on Monday August, 26 and stated it was too dangerous for his crew to be crawling around in the attic at the high temps we were experiencing and I agreed completely. John stated in his message he would be calling me within a day to reschedule the work. Needless to say, I never received a call that week. I finally called John on September 3rd to see where my job stood in line with the rest of their work. John answered and stated they were still trying to catch up on the work that was delayed by weather, but could have guys out by Thursday or Friday (September 5-6) of that week to complete the work. John again stated he would call back with verification on date and time. At this point, I'm still understanding of the delay, but really want to make sure the work is completed before my daughter's first birthday on September 15th. Here we are a day after my daughters birthday party (no lights!) and I've heard nothing from John since September 3rd. I've called him numerous times, and left him a message trying to figure out why things haven't started moving. Absolutely the worst company with high feedback I've encountered on Angie's List. Would not recommend this company to anyone. No apologies, no communication whatsoever in two weeks.

I tried THREE times to work with Harrison Electric only to be blown off. The first time I called, my request and info was lost somehow. The second time I called, and electrician did come to my house to discuss having a standby generator installed. He was supposed to follow up and give me a recommended plan and estimate of costs for what we needed. I never heard back from him. I called a few weeks later to find out why and was just told that someone would get back to me. Now several weeks later, I have still not heard from them. I would not recommend working with this company based solely on their non-responsiveness.
