Al and Nancy were wonderful to work with. I chose Grahn's originally because they gave me the choice of buying fabric through them or purchasing it on my own. Most re-upholsterers require you to purchase fabric through them, at fairly steep prices. One company needed me to make an appt. to accompany them to International Market Square in order to pick out fabric, which seemed inconvenient in terms of time and cost. Grahn's offered three different levels of repair for our pre-1900 platform rocker, allowing us to choose our level of investment in the piece. Since we planned to use the rocker in our baby's room, we went with the option to create a removable cushion for practicality in cleaning. In general, they met our preferences and needs at every turn. Al came out to our house to provide the estimate. They told me how much fabric was needed so I could purchase the fabric I wanted, and allowed me to ship the fabric directly to their store. They offered the option to deliver the chair when it was finished. And they finished the chair two weeks ahead of schedule. The cost to re-glue and reupholster the chair was significant, but totally in line with the quotes I got from other upholsterers I investigated, AND Grahn's gave me the flexibility to bring in fabric, which allowed me to save significantly on that part of the cost. Most importantly, the end result is BEAUTIFUL. They did an excellent job of woking with the large pattern of the fabric we chose. Since the chair is so old I was concerned about working with someone who had experience dealing with antique pieces and Grahn's craftsmanship was exquisite. I would definitely take other upholstery/furniture needs to them.

All work is superb. Anything that was re-glued doesn't seem likely to fall apart anymore. The sewing on upholstery looks like new. If you wonder about the capacity and quality of the work performed, then you should tour the workshop area. He has every kind of hand and power woodworking equipment in existence. You can see may chairs and tables that are in the process of being worked on. Glued items are held in substantial clamps. In the back room is the stripping area where existing finishes are removed when necessary. They have an extremely large collection of fabric samples to pick from for use when new upholstery is needed. The store is very busy. So, don't expect an instant turn-around. But, it's high-quality work and that can't be rushed if it's going to be done right.

They did an excellent job and the seat cushions look wonderful. They also repair furniture and gave me an estimate for having some work done.

When my husband's office chair seat broke we called a number of furniture repair shops. Most were rather far form our home so I took the broken office chair seat to the Grahn shop for repair because it was close to my home. When I arrived and Mr Grahn gave me a price of $110 to repair the seat I accepted that price because I was already there even though the price was twice what my husband had been quoted by another repair company . Mr. Grahn told me that it was a small job and so he would fit it in between other larger jobs and so he could not tell me exactly when it would be done but said sometime within the next week or two. That was Wedesday, August 22. When two weeks past and I had not heard from him I called and was told that the work was not done and would not be done this week. I then said I would come and pick up the seat and have someone else do the work. This is a job that should take less than one hour to complete. He had the piece for 15 days and did nothing more than take the cover off the seat and cut the strapping on the seat base. My husband had been without his office chair for over two weeks and now we need to take it somewhere else.

We looked at a couple other upholsterers before landing with Grahn's. In one case, a small upholsterer did not have the equipment to restore the stitching, or channels, in the padded back. Another emphasized discount over quality. Nancy Grahn was extremely responsive and communicative. She listened to what kind of pattern we wanted and produced a book with the winning pattern within minutes. She checked immediately with the manufacturer to verify it was still in stock. She and Al assured us that they could meet our deadline this summer when we had relatives coming in for a family wedding, and expected to have them ready 6 weeks early. Al Grahn came over and inspected the two pieces and determined how much of the interior supports and padding needed replacement in addition to the covering. He asked questions to make sure we all understood what the process would be. A couple weeks before the fabric was to arrive, Nancy called to report that the fabric was on a boat from Italy and would arrive a few weeks later than expected. She believed they would still meet our deadline but gave us the option of choosing another fabric. We stuck with our first choice and it all worked out as she said. The couches were carted off and return two-three weeks ahead of our big event. They look beautiful and feel great. We got many compliments from our house guests.They did exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. We are delighted with the result and happy that we got to work with such pleasant, knowledgeable people.

I would recommend them. They did a really good job, and the price was good. They were very professional, and they did a very good job. I was totally satisfied.

It went excellent! They knew what they were doing and were nice to work with. The price was fairly high, but it was worth it.

I called late on a Friday afternoon and Al took his time discussing my project with me. It was the first but not last time that I have had a chest painted. Al answered all of my questions. I took the chest over to the shop, picked the color and Al advised me on the finish. I was not in a hurry to get it back. They did a great job in a timely manner as promised. I would recommend Grahn's and I'm sure I'll come up with another project. Be sure to get directions to their shop when you're heading over there.

I would give them the highest grades in pricing, timing, craftsmanship and customer service. The price was fair. The workmanship was outstanding. She had it done within a week. I would definitely go back to them. I would make the drive as they are not so close to us.

They did a very good job. It was very expensive but it was worth it. I would tell people that they do a very good job but they are not cheap. I have not had enough experience looking for other quotes but I do know that they were expensive.

Everything with Grahn's has been perfection. I've heard they cost more than some others, but I have antiques and special items and would entrust any of them to Grahn's care.

It’s a very professional and well-equipped furniture shop. They have sufficient equipments to work, on both furniture and to upholster the same. They also have a large collection of upholstery, to choose from. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

I selected Al and Nancy out of three estimates I gathered for the project. They were not the least expensive but they seemed to have the most confidence in being able to perform the task required. I was able to submit pictures to them electronically of the two chairs I wanted to have reupholstered, however, once they identified that one chair was an antique rocker they requested a house visit to complete the estimate. I was very impressed with their knowledge of what chairs of that age were supposed to look like and how they should be reupholstered. Once I was able to decide on the fabric, and the fabric arrived, the work was completed within three weeks. Al and Nancy did a fantastic job with both chairs; the fabric is tight and the patterns are straight and centered on the chairs. Exactly what you should expect from professionals. I will definitely use them again and would recommend to anyone looking to have furniture reupholstered.

Very good. He said what he could do, discussed alternatives, and provided good estimates on both the cost and time to get the work done. I'd suggest that anyone who is new to Grahn's take a look at the workshop area. It's a fully-equipped workshop that can obviously do any kind of woodwork and repair.

They did a really good job. The workmanship was good. They got the chairs done on time. If I ever had to call they were responsive.

They did a good job on what needed to be repaired. We had to take the sofa and pick the sofa once it was done. The repair job was done on time. The cost was within the estimate that they had provided.

I wanted him to coat it in notoxic cover, but he didn't do that for me. They didn't listen what I wanted. The lady that I talked to didn't write down what I wanted them to use.

It appeared that they did a fabulous job, and generally speaking they did, but only one month after we got the coach, the stitching was coming apart and hanging in many places of the couch. In addition, the cushions they made for the couch don't hold shape. The Grahns became very defensive in dealing with either of the issues and didn't care to resolve either problem.

The company does mostly reupholstering furniture. This is something on the side they would do. They were very nice and knowledgeable. I had a good experience.
