 + -1 moreMUST READ: If I could give 0 stars I would. This was truly one of the worst experiences I've ever had in service. IN SHORT: I brought my phone in for Gophermods to replace a cracked screen, paid them a $316 up front, and THEY BROKE IT. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: When I picked the phone up, it would no longer connect to the mobile network and would not charge without sounding an alarm due to overheating. I addressed this immediately with them and had to bring my phone back. After review, they informed me that it was left on the "heater" too long, which likely severed connections between the two motherboards impacting the antenna (and must have impacted the charging hardware as well). As compensation for THEIR mistake and breaking my Samsung S20 Plus, I lost my phone for 5 days (was provided and inferior loaner phone), given a REFUBISHED replacement ***WITH A SMALL SCRATCH ON THE SCREEN*** and refunded ONLY $30 (about half of their service fee of $59). So, basically I paid them $286 for a refurbished defective phone with a scratch on the screen. NOTE: The new screen part cost them $240 (that I never received). In addition to all of this, they told me they run through a series of functionality tests after they've completed the repairs. Ironically, they just happened to "forget" to check if it connected to the mobile network properly... the most important functionality on a PHONE? Hindsight being 20/20, when I arrived to pick it up, the technician couldn't charge it without sounding the alarm, but told me it was because it was still hot. He also couldn't perform a google search using voice command without failure and had to connected it to the WIFI in order to get it to work. I believe there's some ethics in question here as well. Lastly, they asked me for my broken phone back so that they could reuse/resell the parts!! As if they deserve to make more money on this transaction.

Description of Work: I paid for the repair service of my iPad screen TWICE in past year, and the screen broke twice after their replacements WITHIN their alleged warranty period, but the store refused to honor their warranty. Gophermods offered 1-year "warranty" of their repair service. 1. On July 28, 2015, I paid Gophermods $129 to repair a broken screen of iPad; 2. On June 28, 2016 - the screen broke again and I brought the iPad back to GopherMod. Even it was still within warranty period, GopherMod stated the breakage is not covered, and as a result, I had to pay $104 for another replacement; 3. On July 23, 2016 - ONLY 25 DAYS after the second replacement, the screen cracked again, on the SAME spot of last crack. I brought the iPad back to Woodbury store and Mike, the store manager stated it's not covered by the warranty. During the conversation, Mike admitted that they used screen supply from an after-market supplier. Really it indicated to me lower quality of the material is the cause of the issue. Meanwhile, I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Guess what has happened? the business fought badly with complete lie and below is their response to BBB: ______________________________________ "Both times *** came in, he was demanding and rude that we repair his device for free because the screen cracked. Both times, the damages were significant and not a sign of faulty workmanship or quality. Under many circumstances we will replace a devices cracked screen under warranty if we inspect the device and see no signs of punctures, drops or pressure marks; however, on this device there was a clear impact point on the display.After calling us"Stupid Jerks", we did not want to continue business with Mr. Zhang and asked him to please leave our facility. " ____________________________________ The business is completely lying - as a senior leader at a Fortune 500 company it would be very impossible for me to be perceived as "rude" and spoke dirty words like 'Stupid Jerks' (is this a human language??? I doubt) . This business is very low and dishonest and I would recommend 'NO' to everyone!

 + -1 moreThey were easy to work with and finished the install on time. My issue was that within a month the new screen had scratches all over it, where the original one never got a mark (till it hit a large rock and splintered...). And about 8 months after the new screen was installed it fell off the couch, onto my carpet, and cracked in half! When I called about it they informed me that drops were not covered under the warranty. I totally understand that they have no idea what caused the crack, and they probably get all kinds of people making all kinds of claims and need to have a policy in place to deal with that. My negative review is with the quality of the component they used. This was not remotely close to the quality of the original, and if I had known this to start with I would have just gotten a new phone. If you need a new screen I strongly suggest you look around, ask everyone if they use the same screen as the original and to put that in writing, and then baby your new one. Or just spend the extra $ and get a new phone.

 + -1 moreI looked for places that do tablet repair and as this was close to where I was going to be, I stopped in to have them look at my tablet. I have a tablet that currently won't charge. Due to the nature of the problem, I was pretty sure I needed a new usb charging port. When I said this, the woman said they don't replace those. When I asked why as it seemed a farily simple thing to do, she said the parts are too flimsy. So they only repair parts that are stable, reliable and theoretically don't need replacing? I was pretty irritated as they advertised they repair tablets. I wouldn't go here again for anything.

Description of Work: Gopherods replaced the smashed screen of an old Samsung phone. Even though they were busy with post Christmas phone issues, and I was under a time crunch, they gave me a quote. The price was a little high, but I had over a hundred pictures I could not recover until the screen was replaced, so I would have paid double if I had to.  + 0 moreI dropped my iPhone 4 onto some ice salt, picked it up and immediately dropped it again. Result was two large and quot;spiderweb appsand quot; on my phone screen, leaving the phone fine operationally but obviously very difficult to read. Took the phone to Gophermods' Cottage Grove, MN, location where Luke, the store manager, was very friendly and helpful. He said he could fix it in about an hour for $79.00 plus tax, which was better than any of the others I had checked. I left, came back in an hour, and the phone was ready to go. Looks as good as when it was brand new. Gophermods has other Twin Cities locations, some of which do repairs on games and tablets, too. Best to call ahead to make sure you're going to a location that can work on your product. They also do out-of-town business. Very highly recommended. Hope I don't have to do this again if but I do, Gophermods is where I'll go.

 + -1 moreI looked at a few places to fix our YLOD PS3. We had tried a few things to get the unit working, including opening it and cleaning the dust out, and trying an alternate hard drive to see it that would turn on. Nothing worked, so we decided to have it fixed. I liked Gophermods' website, and the convenience of their UPS services. They also had great Google reviews! I chose them, entered my information (including an extra fan-installation service), paid, and printed the shipping label. I shipped my PS3 out the next day. The next day, I realized we had left our extra hard drive in it instead of the original hard drive! I emailed Gophermods support right away to let them know that our unit was on it's way and it had a non-PS3 HD in it. It took a day or so for them to answer, but they said it was fine and would not effect their ability to repair it. I received an automated email a few days later, telling me my unit had arrived and it was being worked on. I wasn't sure how long it would take, so I waited. And waited. 10-12 days after they received the unit, I started wondering where the heck my PS3 was! It had to be on it's way back by now. I called and spoke to someone who told me he would track it down and call me back. He called back and said he had found it on the in-store-pickup shelf for some unknown reason. He also said that it was diagnosed as un-fixable right after it came in and it had been sitting there. We were very disappointed!! I do not fault them for not being able to fix our unit, but they should have contacted us right away. I mean, when you shell out $120+, you anxiously await the return of your device, right?! They gave us the reasonable option of a refund minus shipping to ship our unit back to us, OR the choice for a full refund and our console would be recycled (and the hard drive sent back free). We chose the latter and ended up buying a used PS3 slim. Overall, I definitely would use these guys again, mostly because of the UPS shipping option. That's great for 9-5 people like me who don't have time to run the unit in during the business day.

 + -1 moreEverything was great. All employees were very knowledgeable, helpful, and polite. Price was $50-60 less than anyone else quoted me. They even dropped the phone off at my house in the morning when the repair went a little longer than they'd hoped! Overall I'm very pleased and will definitely use Gophermods again and recommend them to friends for any similar service.

 + 0 moreJust a quick note about my experience getting information regarding a potential repair from the company. I was looking for a local company to do a replacement on an iPhone screen that was cracked. Based on my online research I know that the quality of this part can vary based on the supplier/manufacturer. Specifically some replacements have lower resolution and don't have the same coating on the screen that Apple uses to prevent fingerprints, dust, etc. from sticking to the screen. Because of these concerns I sent an email to support to inquire about the part they would be using to see if it was materially similar to the original. The first response I received simply stated gophermods has a 1 year warrantee against defects in labor or materials; not addressing the question regarding specifications of the replacement part or quality level. I followed up with another email clarifying that I just wanted some reassurance regarding the replacement part. the response I received in reply stated simply that gophermods and quot;cannot speak to the specific specificationsand quot; of their parts. My rating for gophermods is based on them being unable or willing to state the quality of replacement parts. My expectation when paying for a repair is that I am paying for and receiving 'same or similar' parts or if not that should be clearly stated. I don't feel this is too much too ask. My expectation of a business of this nature also would be that they use quality suppliers and as such order parts that at least meet a minimum standard, and can state what that standard is if asked. So, potential customers of gophermods should be aware that they cannot or will not speak to the quality of parts to be used in repairs.

 + 0 moreI walked in and their offices were easy to find in the building. However, I would not hesitate to use their services via UPS in the future.
Description of Work: I had dropped my HTC cell phone and the screen cracked. I found Gophermods online. Very easy to deal with. They are located close to the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. I originally walked in on a Firday afternoon but they were too busy and asked me to set up a time and come back (I could have left my phone but did not want to be without a phone over the weekend). Came back on Monday at 11:00. They replaced the screen but the new screen had "dead spots" when they tested it so they told me they would have to replace it again when their shipment of additional screens came in that afternoon. They had it done 30 miniutes after they got their shipment. They accept credit cards. Their website is easy to use and navigate. I went to their offices because it is not that far from my home but they were clearly handling a lot of phones and xboxes by mail. While I was there (2 different times) there were plenty of other people using their services (a lot of students) but also a lot of other people bringing in phones and gaming consoles. They greeted everyone within minutes of arrival and quickly got you checked in, explained your options and got you moving. Very easy. I'd go here before I would bother with your provider.
