furnace tune up for fall
Description of Work: We have been loyal customers of GV for many years. The tech came out and was in a big hurry and unplugged our condensation pump to our furnace to use for his vacuum. He did not plug it back in. We have a camera facing our furnace and caught him using this outlet. We did not realize this about a week later, until we had water seeping in through our new vinyl planking floor. The drywall and baseboard all have water damage as well. We called GV and they came back out and said the plug was unplugged causing the water to seep. We were in contact with Dennis who is a manager with GV and very rude and condescending. He basically said it is a he said versus he said. They also don’t want to use their liability insurance because it’s a strike against them. This is what he told us. So we now filed a BBB claim against this company. We have to go though our insurance to fix the damages. The damages are really expensive! Everything in that area is ruined and needs to be ripped out. Do not use these guys. They may be long timers in the metro area but they do not stand behind their work. This is all so frustrating and sad. You work hard for your home and in matter of seconds incompetency can lead to destruction. Use caution.

THE TECHNICIAN GAVE ME A COUPLE OF ALTERNATIVES AND TOLD ME THE APPROXIMATE COST OF EACH. I CHOSE THE CHEAPEST, WHICH WAS TO RAISE IT OFF THE FLOOR TO AN AREA THAT WOULD BE BETWEEN THE UPPER AND LOWER CABINETS. HE WAS VERY QUICK AND I THOUGHT THE COST VERY REASONABLE.
Description of Work: I NEEDED TO HAVE A COLD AIR RETURN RELOCATED BECAUSE IT WAS IN THE WAY OF BUILT-IN CABINETS THAT ARE TO BE INSTALLED.

THE WORKER CHAD DID A VERY THOROUGH JOB. HE WAS THERE THE BETTER PART OF A DAY DOING IT. HE USED A ROTOR-BRUSH SYSTEM. VERY PLEASANT AND FOR THE AMOUNT CHARGED AND THE QUALITY OF THE WORK IT WAS A VERY GOOD VALUE.

A SERVICE VISIT THAT BEGINS WITH INSULTS IS OFF TO A BAD START. THE COMPANY'S REPAIRMAN, UPON ENTERING THE BASEMENT, ASKED WHO HAD PUT THE FURNACE IN. HE MADE IT CLEAR THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS A SUBSTANDARD INSTALLATION. I WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARD BY HIS EXTREMELY NEGATIVE ATTITUDE. NO ONE ELSE WHO EVER CAME TO SERVICE THE FURNACE SINCE IT WAS INSTALLED IN 1996 HAS BEEN SO DISCOURTEOUS. I ASKED HIM IF THE FURNACE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR PART OF IT REPLACED AND HE SAID ALL THAT IT NEEDED WAS TO HAVE THE FILTER CHAMBER TAPED SHUT. HE INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD TO CHARGE THE MINIMUM FOR A SERVICE CALL--$89.00. MY REASON FOR REQUESTING THE SERVICE WAS TO FEEL COMFORTABLE ABOUT BEGINNING THE HEATING SEASON. THE VISIT WAS ANYTHING BY REASSURING. I WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PARTICULAR REPAIRMAN BACK.
Description of Work: SERVICE CALL WAS REQUESTED TO 1) CORRECT AIR FLOW PROBLEM IN MY FURNACE IN THE FILTER SPACE AFTER AN XCEL ENERGY AUDITOR HAD EARLIER SAID THAT IT NEEDED TO BE CORRECTED AND 2) POSSIBLY TO VACUUM OUT THE BLOWER CHAMBER. I HAD EXPLAINED WHY I WAS CALLING TO THE DISPATCHER. THEY HAD SERVICED MY AIR CONDITIONER TWO YEARS AGO BECAUSE MY NEIGHBORS RECOMMENDED THEM AND ANGIE'S LIST DID LIKEWISE.

GOOD EXPERIENCE. LOTS OF AGGRESSIVE SALESMEN IN THE HEATING & A/C BUSINESS. SCOTT OF GV WAS VERY GOOD AND HELPFUL. OUR AC FAILED PRIOR TO THE INSTALL DATE AND GV HEATING CAME AND REPLACED THE FREON TO GET US THROUGH UNTIL THE NEW AC COULD BE INSTALLED. HEPA FILTER WAS LARGER THAN I EXPECTED AND DIDN'T REALLY FIT INTO THE SPACE THAT WAS PROPOSED. GV HEATING FOUND A SECONDARY LOCATION THAT INVOLVED MORE WORK THAN THEY PLANNED FOR. VERY HELPFUL AND HONEST IN GENERAL AND VERY MUCH SO IN RELATION TO THE OTHER COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES.

SCOTT, THE PERSON WHO I SPOKE WITH, WAS NOT VERY HELPFUL. WHEN I EXPLAINED WHAT I WANTED, HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT EVEN DO THE WORK UNTIL JAN/FEB, IT IS NOW AUG. WHEN I TOLD HIM WE NEEDED THE WORK DONE BY NOV AT THE LATEST, HE SAID IT COULD NOT BE DONE AND ''GOOD LUCK FINDING ANY OTHER COMPANY THAT WILL DO IT''. WELL, WE HAVE FOUND 3 OTHERS WHO WILL DO IT IN SEPT., SO THEY JUST GAVE AWAY OUR BUSINESS FOR WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE A $12,000 JOB.

THEY WERE ABLE TO INSTALL THE FURNACE AND A/C SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE WE THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE. WE WERE A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT GOING WITH THE LOWEST BID, BUT THEY TURNED OUT TO BE EXCELLENT. THEY WERE ON TIME AND WORKED HARD BOTH DAYS. THEY INSTALLED THE PRODUCTS THAT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO INSTALL. AFTER THEY INSTALLED THE FURNACE AND A/C THEY PROMPTLY SENT US INFORMATION TO CONTACT THE CITY INSPECTORS (WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR INFORMATION FROM THE COMPANY WHO PERFORMED THE ELECTRICAL WORK TWO MONTHS AGO), AND THEY SUBMITTED THE REBATE INFORMATION FOR THE A/C TO XCEL ENERGY RIGHT AWAY. WE RECEIVED OUR REBATE WITHIN TWO WEEKS.

PHIL, THE SERVICE REP, WAS AT MY HOUSE BEFORE I ARRIVED HOME, HAD THE CENTRAL AIR UNIT OPENED UP, AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THAT I HAD ANOTHER COMPANY OUT. THEY TOOK ONE LOOK AT MY UNIT AND SAID IT WAS TOO OLD, WASN'T WORTH FIXING, AND TRIED TO SELL ME A WHOLE NEW UNIT. I AM SO GLAD THAT I WAITED AND GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM GOLDEN VALLEY HTG. & AIR. I WILL USE ONLY THEM FROM NOW ON.

I WORKED WITH BRIAN AND HIS CREW. THEY WERE ALL VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CLEANED UP ALL DEBRIS FROM INSTALLATION. THEY LAID TARPS DOWN TO CATCH ANY STRAY DEBRIS. I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THEY HAD BEEN HERE. THEY WERE ONE OF THE BEST COMPANIES I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH.
