It’s so bad I will need to find someone to come in and redo most of it. It’s ending up to be a very expensive project. Don’t even consider giving this company any money. Just RUN!!!!

If I could rate DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen with a negative number of stars, I would. Interpreter of dreams, they are not. If you're looking to have cheap fixtures installed in your home, employ these frauds. Otherwise, hang on to your hard earned money and hire a contractor who values your business and understands your needs. The word remodel evokes significant visual change. DreamMaker charged us the price of a new vehicle to incorrectly install a couple sinks, toilets and uneven shower doors. They gave no regard to simple cosmetic upgrades and provided shoddy workmanship on the changes they did make. I gave them a second attempt to fix their errors to no avail. When I voiced my displeasure the owner was flippant and unsympathetic. The project did not come in on time, within budget (there were hidden costs), or within scope. I will no longer be a passive consumer. DreamMaker, has become my worst nightmare. I DO NOT recommend this company.

I am sorry [Member Name Removed] is so upset. To clarify: 1. Both bathrooms were substantially complete and functional by the date we promised. 2. Delays in getting to total completion were due to the inability to gain access to the house on scheduled work days and the inability to reach our client by phone and our messages not returned. 3. Hidden plumbing problems in the wall (which were necessary to rectify in order to pass plumbing inspections) required additional time and $2267.22 worth of plumbing repairs as well as extra wall repair, all of which I agreed to absorb in attempt to appease [Member Name Removed]. 4. At our design meeting, we offered our client choices from a wide range of quality in materials and he selected those that fit in his preferred budget. At our contract meeting, we reviewed the plans, materials, pricing, and the contract. [Member Name Removed] did not attend either of these meetings and she did not visit the jobsite until we were substantially completed. 5. We were not over budget; our client paid no more than the amount originally in our contract. We completed everything on our contract to the standards called out in our contract, and all inspections passed. [Member Name Removed] signed our completion checklist and our client gave us the final payment. Our dealings with our client himself have always been cordial and respectful on both sides, and I am grateful for his business. We pride ourselves on our customer service, follow through and attention to detail. Our goal is always to find solutions and products to our clients' needs and budget. I regret that [Member Name Removed]'s experience with DreamMaker regarding her father's bathroom remodel project did not meet her expectations.
Selecting products went very well. Initial work began on time but there were delays due to scheduling later on. Nate, the project manager, was great to work with. We were unhappy with one of the products so we had it replaced with one we purchased. Overall, we are very happy with the final remodel.

I paid for a kitchen design with intention to have them do the remodel. However, I could not accept their payment terms for the actual remodel. I wish I had thought to ask about the payment terms before ever starting the design process for then I would not have bothered to have them do the design. If you choose not to have them do the remodeling work, you pay for a design that you actually don't get to keep -- which I knew up front but, of course, is pretty pointless. Their payment plan for remodeling is: 50% upfront when you sign the contract 40% when they START demolition 10% when they are "substantially finished" I now know to ask contractors up front about the payment plan.

I would use them again and will use them again when I remodel my kitchen. I wanted to make it universally accessible and they did a very nice job but it doesn't look like a hospital bathroom. They added a barrier free shower and grab bars.

I worked with Kari B, designer, who was wonderful! Had great ideas, gave me many options, and was very professional. The project went well overall but there were various issues that had to be addressed. There was a problem with the toilet plumbing during the project. There is a plastic piece that the new toilet sits on with a piece to be punched out by the plumber. The piece punched out didn't break up as usual which wasn't noticed by the plumber, causing a significant plug in the main line. Dreammaker brought in a company to scope the line, found the plug, and pushed it out to the main street line. There was no additional cost for this service. There were some various spots in the bath surround that had to be recaulked and the undermount sink caulking was messy. This was corrected. There is a crack that developed in the stone in the bath surround which they put a sealant on though it bothers me to see the crack there. It hasn't grown any since they put the sealer on it. I have had continual problems with the new toilet in my master bath. They came out and glued in a tube that kept coming out. Now the toilet still has a tendency to keep running after a flush as a mechanical piece sticks in place. My one year warranty is just about up but hoping that this will be fixed and stays fixed after that.

We worked with Kari and she was great at finding tile, paint colors and design options for us. The workmen did a great job. We had a few extra problems that came up along the way such as moldy studs that needed to be replaced and upgrading our electrical panel. The crew was excellent at making sure they did the work exactly as we wanted it to be done. They were good at letting us know the schedule and progress of the project.
Description of Work: Remodeled 2 bathrooms in our home. We removed everything down to the studs and they replaced wallboard, moved plumbing, replaced electrical.

Definitely cannot recommend this company. From start to finish we were continually disappointed. The 4-5 week timeline stretched into over 4 months. The wall paint shows every water splatter/streak and we had to have rework done on multiple occasions either because of designer miscommunications or quality of work. The designer had the worst communication skills we have experienced. We never knew where we were in the project.

The kitchen and dining room project took a total of 5-6 months which was 2-3 month longer than originally estimated. However, delays can happen. The real issue was that the new dining room floor slants noticably downward as you walk from the kitchen to the dining room. We are not sure how the initial engineering structural inspectIon was passed since the flooring is clearly not level. The rooms were sealed off to us during construction and we became aware of this upon completion of the entire project. Lyn acted as if everything was just fine and that nothing was out of the ordinary. We were quite shocked about this lack of fundamental quality since we had obtained very postive reference checks about DreamMaker's prior work. We also had DreamMaker re-tile a master bathroom shower floor. Before commencing this floor project, we asked about the wall next to the shower that looked a bit mottled. We asked if there might be a leak or some other issue creating this odd look. Lyn assured us it was a non-issue so we did not address it. The mottling grew worse over time. This week we had a contractor in who took out all of the shower tile and opened up the mottled wall. Water had seeped back between some tiles, which was making the wood behind the wall wet and leaking towards the wall creating the mottling. In addition, water had come up from the shower floor 5-6 inches on the water proof liner. When we saw the wet liner, we decided we had better check the floor as well to ensure there were no other leaks. Below the concrete, the wood sub floor had also been wet. At the time the floor was re-tiled, we asked for a certain angle for shower drainage. What was installed was at a lesser angle, though we were assured that it was completely sufficient to ensure proper drainage. Clearly that was not the case based on the water lines on the liner and sub floor.
Description of Work: We had DreamMaker engage in 2 remodeling projects for us: 1) A major kitchen and dining room remodel (our kitchen, dining room and screened porch were gutted, old appliances and cupboard were donated, etc). 2) Master bathroom shower floor re-tiled.

$180,000
Response from Dreammaker Bath & Kitchen
$140,000 of this $180,000 kitchen/dining room remodel was contracted with my company. The remaining $40,000 was signed by the homeowner with another independent contractor for structural framing and exterior work, including enclosing the existing porch to become the new dining room. The independent framing contractor explained that the existing porch floor was slanted away from the house for water drainage reasons. With a door to the deck at the far end, he could not level the existing floor completely without doing extensive and expensive reframing, since as often happens in remodeling, one change can have a domino effect. He proposed to level the floor as much as he could within the existing framing, which was accepted before his contract was signed by the homeowner. After he rebuilt the floor, my company was responsible for setting the tile over it. (As for the sealed off rooms, the doors to the remodeled rooms were draped in plastic for dust control but were traversable until we laid the tile, since the tile cannot be walked upon until the mortar and grout are set and dry.) At the completion walk-through I was unable to address the issue of the levelness of the rebuilt dining room (former porch) floor, since my company had not done that work. I did say I thought the framing contractor had done what he said he would and had signed to do, and it passed all inspections. I heard no more about this until I am reading this item on Angie’s List over seven years later. At the time my company was in the planning stages of the kitchen/dining room remodel, we were also asked about remodeling possibilities for the master bath. The homeowners expressed wishes to possibly change the small shower to a 2-person shower, replace the tub with a larger whirlpool, and open up the bath to the bedroom. A light mottling of the wall paint color was a concern, but it was dry with no evidence of leakage and I could not know if it was a problem without opening up the wall. I thought it more likely a sign of previous condensation on the walls (the homeowners had just bought this house and had no history). As the budget for the kitchen progressed, the master bath project was shelved for a later date. Two years later (2006) the homeowners called my company back to replace the old master bath shower floor tile, which had come loose. The subject of the mottled wall paint came up again and the homeowners said it had not become worse, and they did not want to remodel the bath at that time, so I saw no need to tear up the bath until they were ready to remodel it. My company removed the old shower floor tiles and installed new tiles in the existing floor pan (and noted no water damage was evident at that time, with the existing pan appearing to be intact and not leaking). I heard no more about it until this item on Angie’s List almost six years later, that the old original 1984 shower is now leaking. In hindsight I should have torn into the wall to be sure six years ago, whether the homeowners were ready to remodel the bathroom or not, even though I could see no current evidence of leaking water. I understand that memories can falter many years after the fact—I myself had to review all the project notes and files to make sure of the details. But I am disappointed that I was not contacted directly to discuss this and have the opportunity to exchange points of view and make it right, before reading this online. I am also concerned that the homeowner’s entry is dated November of 2011 and I was just contacted by Angie’s List now in August 2012 that the entry was made. I can do nothing if I don’t know about it. At this point I still would welcome an opportunity to discuss this directly with the homeowners to clear the air if nothing else, as they are fine people and I valued our working relationship.

INITIAL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY POSITIVE WITH OUR DESIGNER, ETC., COMPARED TO OTHER BIDS WE WERE GETTING. REMODEL INCLUDED A STEAM SHOWER, WHICH WE'D HAD TROUBLE FINDING CONTRACTORS WITH EXPERIENCE (THEY SAID THEY DID). ALL TEAR OUT AND FRAMING WENT GREAT. PLUMBER AND TILE INSTALLERS WERE A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH, EXCELLENT FINISHED PRODUCT. WE RAN INTO SEVERAL PROBLEMS ALONG THE WAY, SOME SMALL, SOME NOT. THEY RESPONDED PROMPTLY, BUT THE PROBLEMS WERE NOT RESOLVED PROMPTLY AT ALL. HAD TO CALL OR EMAIL SEVERAL TIMES TO GET RESOLUTION ON EACH PROBLEM. MAY HAVE BEEN INTERNAL COMPANY COMMUNICATIONS ISSUES. STEAM SHOWER CEILING WAS IMPROPERLY DESIGNED AND ELECTRICAL WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY (DUE TO LACK OF EXPERIENCE, I BELIEVE). TOOK MANY ROUNDS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, WHICH MAY NOT BE ACTUALLY RESOLVED. TIME WILL TELL. FINISHED PRODUCT IS GREAT, BUT 8 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FINISHED WE WERE STILL DEALING WITH SOME MAJOR ISSUES. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING CONSIDERING THE MONEY SPENT.

WORKMANSHIP VARIED BY INDIVIDUAL, BUT OVERALL WAS VERY GOOD. PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS WERE AT BEST FAIR. THE WORKERS DID NOT ALWAYS SHOW UP WHEN PLANNED AND AT TIMES HAD NOT HAD APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTIONS COMMUNICATED TO THEM. SEMI-CUSTOM CABINETRY HAD A NUMBER OF FLAWS, BUT DREAMMAKER WAS VERY RESPONSIVE AND TIMELY IN REPLACING IT. VERY PLEASED WITH THE DESIGNER, ANDREA DIXON. PROJECT TOOK A WEEK LONGER THAN EXPECTED, BUT OUTCOME WAS EXCELLENT. DREAMMAKER WAS ALWAYS VERY RESPONSIVE TO ANY ISSUES WE HAD. WE USED OUR BATHROOM REMODEL AS A ''TRIAL'' PROJECT BEFORE WE MOVED ON TO A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE TOTAL KITCHEN REMODEL. BASED ON OUR LEVEL OF SATISFACTION, WE ARE WORKING AGAIN WITH DREAMMAKER FOR THE KITCHEN REMODEL.
Description of Work: TOTAL BATHROOM REMODEL: GUTTED EXISTING BATH ROOM, INSTALLED NEW SUB-FLOOR, TILE FLOOR, VANITY, SINK, FIXTURES, TOILET, SEMI-CUSTOM CABINETRY, SURROUND, TUB, AND GLASS TUB AND SHOWER DOOR. PREPARED WALLS FOR PAINTING.

THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE EVER RECEIVED. THIS WAS A HUGE JOB WITH MANY UNKNOWN PROBLEMS AND IT WAS STILL DONE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. THE DESIGNER, MICHELLE DRENCKHAHN, WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXTREMELY WELL ORGANIZED. PRODUCTS OFFERED INCLUDING CABINETRY WERE HIGH QUALITY. WORKERS, INCLUDING SUB-CONTRACTORS, SHOWED UP ON SCHEDULE AND DID GOOD CAREFUL WORK. AFTER IT WAS DONE AND PAID FOR, THEY CAME OUT IMMEDIATELY TO FIX A MINOR PROBLEM. COST LISTED INCLUDES GRANITE COUNTERTOP, SOME APPLIANCES AND HVAC.
Description of Work: GUTTED 2 ROOMS INCLUDING FLOOR & CEILING, REMOVED WALL, MOVED BACK DOOR, BUILT BRAND NEW KITCHEN AND HALF BATH. ALL NEW: APPLIANCES, FLOOR, HEAT DUCTS, PLUMBING, LIGHTING AND WINDOWS. SOLVED MANY SURPRISE PROBLEMS DUE TO AGE OF HOUSE.

I SIGNED ON WITH DREAMMAKER KITCHEN & BATH ON ADVICE OF MY DECORATOR. AFTER I DID, I WAS TOLD THAT THE DECORATOR I WAS WORKING WITH WAS QUITTING, AND THEN MY CUSTOMER SERVICE WENT FROM GOOD TO NONE AT ALL. THE VANITY WAS DELIVERED, BUT HAD DEFECTS ON THE KNOBS AND DOOR. INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE DOOR THEY TRIED TO FIX IT FROM A REPAIR KIT, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. IT TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS TO GET THIS FIXED. A DECORATIVE MIRROR ALSO HAD A DEFECT AND IT TOOK A MONTH TO GET THAT REPLACED. THEY HUNG THE LIGHTING INCORRECTLY WHICH HAD TO BE REDONE. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A 3 DAY JOB, THE CONTRACTOR HAD NOT EVEN COMPLETED THE RESANDING IN THAT AMOUNT OF TIME. I WAS TOLD A WORKER WOULD BE AT MY HOME ON WEDNESDAY AND DID NOT SHOW UP UNTIL THURSDAY, WHICH HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, THIS IS INCONVENIENT WHEN YOU HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM. I CALLED THE OFFICE WITH CONCERNS AND WOULD NOT GET A CALL BACK ON THE SAME OR NEXT DAY. I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY A NEW COMPANY SINCE THIS WAS A SMALL PROJECT.

THE WORK WAS GENERALLY GOOD. THEY WERE VERY CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT KEEPING THINGS CLEAN, AND WERE ALWAYS POLITE AND HELPFUL BOTH AT THE OFFICE AND AT MY HOUSE. PROBLEMS: THE FIRST DAY, THEY SHOWED UP AT 9:00AM WHEN I WAS TOLD TO BE READY BETWEEN 7:30AM AND 8:00AM. ALSO, THEY TOLD ME THE WORK WOULD BE DONE IN ONE DAY, BUT BECAUSE OF SOME SCHEDULING THING WHICH SOMEONE FORGOT TO TELL ME ABOUT AHEAD OF TIME, THEY REALLY WORKED A HALF DAY ON TWO DIFFERENT DAYS (THAT'S NOT THE SAME THING). ORIGINALLY, THE SCREWS ON GRAB BAR THEY PUT IN RUSTED AND STAINED THE WALL, AND THE SHOWER DOOR LEAKED. I HAD THEM BACK TO FIX THESE; THE SHOWER DOOR STILL LEAKS AND I'M NOT YET SURE WHAT I'M GOING TO DO ABOUT IT. COST WAS STEEP, BUT (PROBABLY) WORTH IT TO US, IN ORDER TO HAVE ONE COMPANY DO ALL OF THE WORK, SINCE WE DIDN'T HAVE TO COORDINATE WORK FROM THREE DIFFERENT COMPANIES.
