DESIGN Q & A

We purchased a two-hour design consult. Paul was really great. As others have noted, two hours go by fast, but for us we found that it was because there was A LOT for us to learn. We prepared extensively by drawing floorplans and coming up with our ideas. * Paul gave helpful advice on those ideas, practical advice regarding cost, gave educated guesses as to what walls were load bearing (would be expensive to remove), etc. * We went through the master bath and kitchen, and learned what would be easy to do piecemeal or would need a more comprehensive approach. * We learned a lot about how our house was constructed, what changes have been made, what changes would be bad, etc. * He seemed to have a sixth sense for how the structure and plumbing of the house worked. He even pointed out we might find water damage in the room below the bathroom, which we found but the appraiser and inspector missed! This was handy as we tried to figure out how to make our designs meet our remodeling budget. Anyway, it was very helpful as a first step to a remodeling project. Once we have a better idea of what we want to do, we would be happy to work with Paul to come up with floorplans.

Paul was absolutely great. I wish we had found him years ago! He learned about us and our tastes first and then walked us through his process to answer our color questions. He also gave a lot of advice we didn't even know to ask for in terms of other design elements. This was money well spent and we would highly recommend Paul to family, friends, or strangers.

We were trying to get the work done pretty quickly and we’ve had a hard time connecting with them. I finally got an email stating he didn’t have any flexibility to meet with us based on our free hour.

It was difficult scheduling our appt. as he wants to do this work M-F days if possible. As stated above he gave honest and helpful verbal feedback but ...he provides no written report or summary. We took some notes for our reference. 2 hrs goes by very fast. Not good for a "whole house" review....perhaps a floor or a couple of rooms as I feel he does have good design skills and when coming in cold needs to spend a little time understanding the client's goals/needs before engaging in the 'staging" review. I respect Paul as a business man as he responded by phone directly to my concerns re: the deliverables that I had expected and has offered to refund my $109. I also feel his more accurately described as an interior/exterior designer as the term "staging" has a different focus and set of expectations. I would recommend Paul for Design work....he is a very personable/approachable man and seeks to do the best for his clients.

We had been searching for a bit of design help and found Paul (Q & A) on Angie's List with a Big Deal. He was easy to get scheduled with, even responded to email while out of town on vacation! We easily filled two hours with him, but he gave us reasonable practical advice for making both minor and major modifications to our home. We plan on using Paul again soon to help us finalize paint colors and window treatments!

Got good assistance with priorities for funds available to get house ready for spring sale. Everything from colors, to layout to new bathroom rebuild finishes. Will be contacting again for additional assistance once I have some selections narrowed down.

I wasn't happy with it. We were looking for small ideas because we were going to do remodelling and then he came in and chat a little bit. My expectation of the designer is that maybe before they come they asked what you want to do and basically organized thoughts; I didn't see that. We talked about many issues and the feeling I had was that he never got into the specifics. Basically, this was the marketing; the two hours that I didn't sell you my products. If you buy our services, I will open up and give you ideas. At the end of the day we decided to work on the eight-hundred dollar but a couple of days later, in a timeline it wouldn't work for us. He's confident. I think that the professionalism was as good as I expected.

Paul was a breath of fresh air.Moved furniture and rugs.Gave us ideas on additional furniture and accessories. We are incorporating several of his ideas and we will definitely use his services again. Couldn't be happier.

Loved meeting with Paul, very easy to talk with; his ideas were fresh and so interesting that I hired him to do our actual designs. The 3D program he uses is absolutely amazing and really helps to visualize the space. Enjoyed working with him so much referred a friend and my sister, too.

We had Paul over a couple of times last year (sorry it took so long to review) and we got some really good idea on how to proceed in updating our house, inside and out. My husband and I have no design sense and weren?t seeing eye to eye on so many things and Paul got us on the same page. We?re still whittling away at the list of changes and will most likely have him out soon since we can?t decide on wall color yet again.

Outstanding service. The Angie's List deal was a great value and good way to meet Paul to see if we would connect, which we did. Paul gave me some great ideas and advice, and afterwards was available by email for followup. He left me with ideas and action items, which we're doing now, and I plan to call him again when we're ready with some furniture ideas and fabric samples.

The experience was once again very good and very helpful. I had met with Paul after taking advantage of the Angie's List Deal a month ago and at that time he got me started on ideas for refurnishing the living room, paint colors, and other decorating needs. Once I had gathered some samples and made some other decisions, I wanted Paul to return and help me put it all together. During this second visit he helped me decide on stain color for refinishing the floors, styles and colors of kitchen cabinets that we are having refaced, and also helped narrow down counter top choices. Again, Paul was very patient and helpful in assisting me discover what my style and tastes are. I really appreciated his opinion from a decorator's viewpoint, but was also appreciative that he takes into consideration your likes and dislikes. I would definitely hire Paul if decorating needs rise again. When our project is done, I will post some after pictures to show off his advice!

It went very well. He dealt with us to the goals we had in mind. He was very focused for the full two hours with us with no distractions.

I had been going in circles trying to decide what to do with the open living room, dining room, and kitchen areas in our home. I just didn't know where to start. One day I saw the Angie's List Deal that Design Q & A was offering. You would get a 2 hour consultation with Paul for 50% off the regular price. I ordered the deal and very quickly got an email from Paul to set up a time for him to come. He gave me so many ideas and I felt like I now had a place to start. He was very careful to find out what my particular style was and didn't just want to tell me what he would do, but helped me come up with ideas that worked around my tastes. He gave me valuable information on choosing wall colors and good places to accent walls, furniture placement in our living room, how to update our dining room table and chairs, and different options for cabinet and counter top colors in our kitchen. I would highly recommend Paul to anyone, but especially someone floundering around like I was for ideas that would work together. He was very kind, professional, and knowledgeable, and it was money well spent.

Assist with identifying exterior color schemes to paint the house. While Paul is a nice guy and responsive, the service was not what we thought it would be or needed. The focus seemed to be on selling the more expensive 3D rendering of the house and landscape rather than our immediate need. The consultation did not help at all.

We were happy with the advice that he gave, and hope to start implementing some of the idea's soon.

When they arrived we explained that we were wanting to do some additional renovations. We did end up having to pay for some additional time and designs. In the end, it did not end up working out and he refunded the full amount.

Paul had a lot of good ideas but wanted to focus on the rooms that I wanted to start with. he drew the rug design and showed me how to view the sample floor covers at a local store. He was very knowledgeable about design and has other ideas when I am at the next stage of designing.

Paul was prompt, friendly, totally open to any and all questions regarding trends, decorating tips, faux pas, etc. We talked and talked for the entire two hour session which says a lot about his talents. We did not come up with instant fixes or answers, but he gave me a lot of different ideas and thoughts on my own ideas in regards to what was good and bad, what would work or not work and how it would affect resale of the house. I totally enjoyed his company and the disucssions we had.

Paul came to my house to help in picking paint colors, and he was very helpful in looking at color choices. Paul provided me insights on what to keep in mind when looking at color, such as contrast and looking at the color choice with each component of the room. Money well spent, as we have painters scheduled to come paint many rooms of our house next month. I have confidence that the colors will be the right ones!

We have scheduled a consultation after the holidays and will begin making design changes in the spring.
