I hired this company to power wash and reseal my wood deck. The experience has been horrible! A worker arrived at 1pm, not 8 am as scheduled. Their brochure promises “covering and protection using drop cloths in and around the specified staining areas, taping is also done to ensure maximum protection”!!! He power washed the deck without using any tarps or other protection for the surrounding areas. The siding, windows, doors, deck furniture, and surrounding plants were covered with wood pulp and worse. He must have used a solvent to strip the wood. It splattered onto the siding and removed big splotches of paint from my house. And I found a pile of brown goo in the middle of my lawn. I'm pretty sure it was residual stripping compound. It killed the surrounding grass. When asked about it, the company representative said it is common practice to dispose of it on the lawn rather than to collect it in a container. Yes, he really defended that!!! I came home on Friday late afternoon to find this mess. I called the company, but they were closed for the weekend. I left a message asking to discuss my concerns before any more work was done on my property. In a phone call the following Monday, I was assured that everything would be cleaned up. Someone did come to paint the siding, with paint I supplied. He again reassured me that they would clean up the mess. Well, that didn’t happen. They left my house a mess! I have spent many hours trying to clean it up. There is still dried wood pulp on my windows, screens, siding, and back door that will not come off. The deck itself looks very splotchy. I'm so disappointed!!! I was required to pay half before work started. Upon receiving an invoice for the remainder, and unable to reach anyone there by phone, I sent a note offering to pay a lesser amount, and clearly explaining why. I got a call, and was angrily told that I had to pay the full amount. There was no apology or offer to make things right for me. “Just put the check in the mail, lady.” It was a big splurge for me to have my deck professionally cleaned and sealed, instead of doing it myself. Now I just feel betrayed. I’m writing this so you will be forewarned. Don’t hire this company. 


Great experience in both 2015 and 2016! Let me start by saying that this is the first review I have ever written, as my son, who just started his own small business, showed me how to write a review and encouraged me to support other small businesses if deserving. In 2015 I used this company to stain my 2nd story deck and stairs. Overall a great experience, and I love how beautiful and restored my deck still looks this summer. This summer I hired them again to stain a new privacy fence we had installed last fall. This was just completed and same great work on the fence as the deck last year. Happy customer!

We just bought our house and the sad, neglected deck that came with it. We honestly thought we'd need to replace it. After getting a quote and talking in depth with the owner, he assured me it could be saved. They continually kept me updated about when it would be power washed and then stained. They use an extremely high quality stain and left me the can so I could match it in the future if needed. Our dry deck sucked up more stain than predicted but the worker stayed late and finished the job with no complaints. Our cracked/splintered deck is now nice and "smooth" as I can run my had over it with no fear of splinters. A neighbor came by and saw the transformation. He was so impressed that he called and contracted them to do his fence. I will be using them again, no question.

They're not a big company but they provide a big service. They are guys coming to stain so they're not wearing khakis or polo shirts.

We had our deck done a few years ago and I am still upset with the quality and customer service of the Deck Staining Specialists. We are in the market to stain our deck again and are researching on Angie's to find a higher quality company to work with. I saw Deck Staining Specialists on Angies's and felt I should put out a review of our experience. First of all, the workers sent out were a bunch of college kids who were not very friendly. They worked very quickly and were impressed with how fast they completed the job. Unfortunately, their speed was reflective in their attention-to-detail. The stain dried very spotty on the floor and the railings had visible drips and areas were they missed all together. I called to tell the company I was unhappy with the quality and it took 3 times calling before they called me back. They sent someone out to take a look and did some touch up work, but still they left areas uneven. I wrote an evaluation letting them know that I was unhappy with the quality and service and they never followed up to try to offer some kind of reconciliation. Overall, I felt the Deck Staining Specialists were of poor quality and unprofessional.

Very happy with service and price. I also have referred to friends who also expressed a job well done.

I hired this firm because my next door neighbor, who has the same type fence, had engaged the company's services. Deck Staining Specialists was always punctual. They performed an initial estimate and we set a date for the work. They performed the work and I paid them. However, it appeared to me, and I still believe, that they did not allocate enough stain for a thorough job. After a few days, I noticed a blotchy appearance and there were areas on top of the posts that were not stained at all. I called the firm afterwards to discuss this and I never received a response.

They did a very nice job. I am actually planning to call them again this year. The price was fair.

Great job and my fence looks super!
