Craftsmen Home Improvement was very responsive and went above and beyond.

They were respectful of us, polite, punctual, responsible, and good communicators.

Jim K. arrived right on time to perform the assessment. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional from start to finish. He took the time to listen to all of my background information and patiently answered my long list of questions. After climbing up and examining the roof, he said that he felt that we did not need a new roof. He explained that though the shingles were curling due to the fact that they are organic, we still could get 5 years or so of use out of them. He did write up an estimate in case we were interested in replacing the roof. He also explained the procedure regarding contacting the shingle manufacturer to see whether they would provide some warranty coverage, even though we are one year removed from the warranty period. And he even gave me an option that no other roofers have given - to replace the failing organic shingles with fiberglass shingles of the same make and model. Jim also confirmed that the step flashing had been improperly done in places when the roof was re-done six years ago, but said that we could wait to fix it when we re-did the roof. In trying to figure out what to do about this roof, we have had to have several roofing companies provide assessments. As a result, I feel confident in saying that Jim's/Craftsmen's knowledge, honesty, and professionalism are a bright light in what can be a very shady industry.

They did an excellent job. They were on time with everything and they did a great job cleaning up after the job was done. The garbage company they used backed into out apple tree and we called them and they took the damage off of our bill. I have nothing but good to say about them.

It went very well. They were very responsive and professional. Everything went smoothly. Insurance paid for the roof.

The company was very good about keeping us informed about when we could select the shingles and then when they would be at our house, about how long it would take. The job took a few days to complete and one day could not work due to weather. We were told about the delay as it occurred. The workers cleaned up as they went. Because the job was done in the winter they were concerned that they may have missed some of the roof debris. They stressed that we should call if we saw debris once the snow melted. We did not need to call. Everyone was very service oriented and professional. I would definitely use this service again.

They did everything they knew to make sure we were satisfied. They were very prompt and followed up well. They communicated beautifully. They are smart business people. We definitely got our money's worth.

They were on time and did the job in the time frame promised. When I left messages for Dan, they were always returned in a timely manner. I was warned that there may be additional cost for rotting wood. They kept me informed on how much they were finding. Once the job was done, they had pictures of what boards had to be replaced.

The vinyl siding was replaced under a warranty claim to the siding manufacturer for fading. Because I was pleased with the original installation job in 2003, I had the same company do the replacement install for me. I took this opportunity to make a few extra siding adjustments (like raise up the siding in a few places to adjust for some landscaping work, and to change to a lighter color); and to change out a double door for a single door and a wall where one of the double doors used to be. (The door replacement was to make room for a future new room going into the walk-out basement, and I provided the new door.) Everyone I dealt with at this company was very accommodating with my extra changes, especially the Owner, Dan Bydlon, who was also very helpful with the siding manufacturer warranty process. I was very pleased with how they made the new wall, from the door replacement, blend in well with the rest of the house. I also liked how they kept me up to date on the estimated schedule, and when the dumpster & materials were to arrive, and leftovers picked up. I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to others.

From start to finish, Dan and Jim were great to work with. Jim came out to give me the estimate and he was very knowledgeable and professional. He came up with a solution for the rotting overhangs on my garage that another company had looked at and said I would need extensive work done to fix, which I didn't believe was necessary. Jim looked at it and very quickly understood that it was more of a cosmetic issue than a structural one, thus saving me unnecessary repair work. I received the estimate in November but due to the early onset of winter, they weren't able to start the job until February, but Dan kept me informed about when they would be able to start the work and made sure I was okay with the timing. Due to our unpredictable weather, the materials were delivered but then the weather turned cold for the next several days and they were unable to start the work until about a week later. Unfortunately during that time, the skylights that were delivered were stolen from my front yard the day before they were going to start work, but Dan ensured me that this was their responsibility and I would not be charged for new skylights to replace the stolen ones. Replacement skylights were ordered and installed but they were not venting skylights as quoted on the estimate. I informed Dan of this and he took full responsibility that this was their error and he would have the skylights replaced at no charge to me. The work was done timely and I'm happy with the results. The garage repairs look great and were completed to my satisfaction. I never actually met Matt as I was at work while the job was being done, but Dan kept me informed of the progress. Dan was always very professional and pleasant to work with. He made sure I was happy with the job they did. I would use Craftsmen Home Improvements again and would recommend them to my friends.

I was very happy with the windows we had installed. There was some confusion as to what type of wood to install for window sills. I contacted Dan Bydlon and told him I wanted Oak since the window molding was Oak. This request was met without any additional issues or cost to me and the end product turned out really beautiful. One of the windows cracked when the winter weather turned cold and the entire window was ordered and replaced in about 3 weeks at no cost due tot he excellent Gorell warranty. Craftsmen was also able to send a crew to Mankato to replace 10 windows in my Mom's home. I was really happy with the work and did not see the finished product until after the work was done. I was confident in the end result, so I did not have to monitor the work being done.

Dan Bydlon was really great to work with through the entire process. They had roofers available and willing to drive to Mankato to replace the roof. This was really great since I had to have the work done in a short time period. I would definitely work with them again. Their end price was exactly the amount that was estimated, so there were no extra costs.

An excellent experience from start to finish. An estimate was provided within a couple of days of my initial request; the price was reasonable, the work was scheduled promptly and completed on schedule. Communication was clear and reliable throughout.

We were really happy with them. They were very professional. They got to work on time and cleaned up after themselves. It was a great experience.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Craftsmen Home Improvement. Initially, Eric came out to give us a bid and even walked over to the neighbors with me so I could show him what I did/didn't like for my own house. He has a passion for arts & crafts homes so he helped me to keep the authenticity of the period when making changes. Incredibly knowledgeable about pros/cons of choices that need to be made when doing all the work we had done. He never pressured us to choose Craftsmen to do the work. It was like having a conversation with the neighbor! Throughout the project(s) Dan Bydlon, the owner, repeatedly called to confirm all was going well or to answer any questions. From Eric, to Dan Bydlon, to Jim who did the windows, to Dan Daehlin and crew that worked on the aluminum wrap, this group of men were professional, highly skilled, and above all just really good people. I am already talking with them about the next project we want them to work on. Highly recommended!

We had a lot of hail damage to our roof and windows. Our neighborhood was being swamped with sales people trying to get on our roof to get an estimate. When we checked into their companies we found that many were independent salespeople working on contract, and that the crews were also subcontracted. We didn't feel comfortable with their approach, who we might actually have to try to find if anything went wrong, or their level of knowledge so we looked into Angie's List for roofing and window companies with high marks. We placed a call to Craftsmen and Jim came out to our house within a day or two. We were impressed by his overall professionalism, how knowledgeable he was and how easy he was to work with. Jim worked with us through the process with the insurance company and made extra trips out to our house when the adjuster had questions. Craftsmen's crew was very professional, punctual and great to work with. They did a great job all the way around.

They were a little pricier but they did a good job. They do a thorough job. They understand what it is that you are looking for. It was a good fit all the way around.

Dan, the owner, took our initial call and told us "Jim" would be the person doing the estimate. Jim showed up right on time and from the beginning made it clear by words and deed that our satisfaction was "job one." It helped a lot that he was not only doing the estimate but would also be overseeing the job on-site, a definite comfort. Both he and Dan could not have been more pleasant and professional. Jim was an active on-site supervisor attending to the details of everything, as was the crew chief Matt. At one point a crow bar was dropped on our linoleum floor and it was abundantly clear that they'd simple replace the floor. "Just get us an estimate from whomever you want and let us know." No hassle whatsoever; a clear message of "We want you to be satisfied, period," and they really mean it. So very unusual in these times. Clean up was terrific and minor glitches were attended to immediately with the same cheery, professional, customer oriented attitude.

Very well - got estimate - they came very quickly to do the work and went smoothly.

They are just professional all the way around. They always keep you informed every step of the way on what's going to happen. They are really focused on customer service and the quality of their work. They even cleaned up after everything, every day they were on the job. The approximate cost listed is for the windows. I think the roofing was about $17,000 which included tear down and replacement.

We hired Craftsman based on their Angie's List reputation and we were not disappointed. They quickly gave us an estimate, were willing to work with our insurance company (although this was not required as we'd handled that already) and were always polite, professional, and willing to answer questions. Originally they said work would have to be done in a month, but they worked us in sooner (we'll take their word on that). Once begun the time from the arrival of the dumpster to the roofing to the removal of the dumpster was 3 days. And they were willing to stop early one day to allow us to have a family gathering without the noise of footsteps and nail guns on the roof. And when done things were cleaned and put back as though they'd never been there. The roof looks great, though we've had it only for a few weeks and it hasn't seen any serious weather so I can't say how it will respond. All in all our experience was excellent.

I used Angie's List to bid our roof project to two companies. Craftsmen Home Improvement, Inc., and Walker roofing. Both were responsive, knowledgeable and professional. Although I chose Walker, I wanted to comment that I recommend both companies. In regards to the estimate provide by Craftsmen, Jim K. and Dan B. were responsive and courteous. I appreciated their willingness to work with my schedule to provide an estimate, and their availability to answer questions. I felt very comfortable choosing either company for our roofing job.

They used materials on the desk that are maintenance free.

Within 1 week of estimate, work was done by very efficient and professional workmen. They were on time, responded, cleaned up after work and explained what they were doing. A very good jib.

Great -- I placed the call and they were here within a day. They even checked out the rest of the house to make sure that we didn't have other wind damage.
