The estimate was not a sales pitch but an honest what are you trying to accomplish and here's what we can do to meet those needs.My wife and I were in the house the whole time they were doing the insulation work and we hardly heard them Craftsmen is also replacing the windows in my home and when it warms up will be replacing the roof also. When you want someone to not only meet your expectations but exceed them this is your company. This is an excellent company and highly recommended by me.

The individuals did a superior job in removing and installing the windows. A small tear in one of the screens was addressed immediately and a replacement screen was expedited from the factory. The overall schedule was adhered to and the work was accomplished in a timely manner. I would (will) have these individuals back!!!!

We originally contacted Craftsmen to repair hail damage to our home's roofing and siding. We subsequently determined that this would be a good time to have old windows replaced on the ground floor of our older home. Craftsmen did an excellent job advising us of our options and installing the premium wood windows ended up with. The also ensured that the color and texture of the windows matched that of our existing woodwork. The fit, finish, and function of the new windows is outstanding. Craftsmen also did a superb job on replacing our existing roofing and siding while coordinating things with the insurance company to ensure that everything went smoothly. The finished product is excellent. The foam insulation they installed above the sloping ceiling of our 2nd floor finished attic has resulted in a major reductions in our heating bill based on before and after comparisons of gas thermos used during periods of comparable average outdoor temperatures. Winter temperatures on our 2nd floor are now virtually identical with those on the 1st floor when it used to be 10 degrees colder up there. In other words, not only did Craftsmen do a great job installing the insulation, but they gave us great advice in selecting the product. Craftsmen clearly places great emphasis on customer service. This was evident in our dealings with personnel on all levels of their organization from the salesman who managed our account, those coordinating the work, foremen on the job, and the individual workers. It was a pleasure dealing with them.

Despite bad weather the crew came as soon as they could and kept us informed of what time they would be able to get here. They were courteous and thoughtful about their work and Matt was super nice. We expected more noise from the crew but they were amazingly quiet. When finished they cleaned up everything and other than tire tracks in the snow no one would know we had any work done. The Craftsmen office people were extremely helpful with energy rebate information.

Great experience from start to finish. We had them out first for a sales visit and we felt like they were reallly educating us on the process rather than just trying to get our money. We then decided on the windows we wanted, and even though we went back and forth a couple of time on the type of window, they were very pateint and just made changes whenever we asked them to do so. The actual appointment was several weeks out, and one of their representatives contacted us weekly to communicate an approximate installation date. The actual installation was the BEST part - they were super nice guys, did exactly what they said they were going to do in the time frame they said they would do it - and I think our house was actually more clean when they left since they vaccuumed each room after installing the window! AWESOME!!! Not sure about all of the services they offer, but we will definitley use them again.

Excellent! Very happy with service. They even re-suited and went back in the attic after cleanup to fix one additional light that we would not have noticed, but they noticed on their final inspection.

I worked with Dan from Craftsman and he couldn't have been more professional. Dan did an excellent job of explaining all of my options and was able to recommend a solution that fit my budget,. The roof is performing well and also looks great. The work was started and completed as scheduled. The workers did an excellent job of cleaning up while the work was in progress so my yard and my neighbors yards were never dirty from old roofing shingles, paper or other roofing debris. All in all I am completely satsisfied and highly recommend Craftsman for roof replacement.

The initial appointment to look at the scope of the job was on 5/19/11. We both dropped the ball on getting the insulation done, but the team was here today and did an excellent job. All team members were polite and very job-focused. They arrived on time (in face a little early) and finished up earlier than expected. Drop cloths were spread over the carpet and stairs to catch any debris and when they finished the job everything was very neatly removed.

Good experience. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and friendly. Work performed as promised. Fortunately access to my attic is in the garage so no one had to come through the house. Cleaned up area nicely and were in and out in about 3 hours.

The installation took approximately 5 to 6 days (windows were 2 days and siding was about 4 days).

I was looking for a good roof repair person, and I got an estimate from them, but I haven’t used them yet. The estimate was free. The person who came out was very friendly. He explained what he would do, what he wouldn’t do and how the process would work. He told that we could work on it next year as it was too late in the season to do it this year. He looked at the roof. I would probably use him and do the work next summer. They are very good to get a hold of, very responsive and very courteous. They obviously think highly of their Angie’s List connection because I think they have learnt how to work that. They ask people when they sign a contract to make a review on Angie’s List, so I think it is a self-reinforcing thing. They also offer a discount to people who are referred through Angie’s List. That seems to work well for them and seems like a win-win for the consumer as well. Their estimated price was $13,000 because I have a big roof. It is a little bit higher than others, but it is also probably a more reliable company. I am probably willing to pay a little more just because I like the company. I haven’t looked at any of the houses that they have worked on.

I enjoyed the way that they worked with us, in that, they weren't telling us but rather, they were listening to what we had to say and they offered up some suggestions here and there. My wife runs a day care and they were willing to work with us on the times that the day care was not open. They were very flexible and very good at problem solving. It was a delight to work with them. I think they were fair on the pricing, and it was definitely good for the level of quality that we got. It felt like everybody was winning. There were places that were cheaper but I think the quality would have suffered. I would use them again in the future and recommend them too.

From start to finish Jim and his crew were professional, prompt, and friendly. Couldn't ask for a better experince

I solicited estimates from half a dozen sources before deciding on Craftsmen. I decided to use Craftsmen because of several factors. The salesman, Eric, took time to explain the entire process, and gave me several options. He answered my questions, and was patient in dealing with me. Another big factor was that they are contractors first. I felt that they would be able to handle any problems that surfaced without having to involve anyone else. Another factor is that he estimated time to install as 4 days, which is what it took. Some of the other estimates I received indicated one or at most two days, which I knew to be unrealistic, given the experience other people had with this type of project. Once I decided what options I would go with, Eric kept in touch with me on changes or suggestions. The office person, Kim, who also did the staining on the interior of the wood windows, also kept in touch. One of the installers, Tom, took final measurements, and Kim stopped by with sample satins to see which one I liked best. She matched the interior wooodwork as closely as possible. All appointements were on time, and the people are very pleasant. It took some time for my job to be scheduled, which was fine with me as it reinforced my belief that they would not just rush from job to job, but complete them correctly before moving on to the next one. The installation process went very smoothly. Tom and Jim have been with the firm for years, work well together and are very capable. They were friendly, answered my questions, and cleaned up every day. At the end they showed me the proper operation of the windows.There is a latch that is broken and a handle that is missing, and they ordered the missing parts. I also received a follow up call from the owner Dan Bydlon, asking about the services perfomed. A satisfactory experience form my view.

CHI is a top-notch company on all levels. Every person we dealt with was very professional, responsive, and highly customer-service oriented. They did an excellent and timely job replacing our large roof, and the work was completed at a very fair price. We've done many home remodeling projects (large and small) over the years, and CHI is by far the best group we've ever hired. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of home improvement services.

Jim came out promptly to look at the roof and provided a detailed estimate soon thereafter. Once we decided to go with them for the re-roofing of our house, all of the paperwork was handled extremely efficiently by Joan via email/fax. She kept us informed all through the process as to when to expect the dumpster delievery/pick-up, the work crews, etc. The work crews arrived when expected, did the work and picked up well afterwards--so far, no evidence of any stray nails, etc anywhere in the yard or driveway. The house looks great and the neighbors are happy, too!

Called and made appointment for estimate. He arrived at the agreed time and took a look at the roof. Explained the options for the type of shingle and then gave me an estimate based on my choice. Also gave me an approximate date of when the work could be done. Due to weather conditions the date was delayed, but they kept me fully informed. Finally the weather cooperated and the work was done while I was at work. I came home from work and the new roof was on and my yard was clear of all the debris. No complaints on the quality of the work or the cleanup.

Had hail damage on our aluminum siding in 2010. I received quotes from two contractors - Craftsmen and Twin Cities Siding. Twin Cities only did Hardie Board and my wife and I weren't sure we were willing to spend the money as it would cost significantly more than we would get from the insurance claim. Eric from Craftsmen quoted both Crane Vinyl and Hardie Board. The Hardie Board quote was about $8K less than Twin Cities Siding so we took the opportunity to upgrade to the Hardie. Prior to the siding project, we worked with a different contractor on a new wrap-around front porch. Craftsman worked around the porch work very well and was extremely professional. We did some unique design elements with belly bands and front shakes and two primary home colors - Craftsmen had no issues accommodating any of these requests and executed flawlessly. The communication through Jane is top notch. Pat's team on site were incredibly knowledgeable and professional and didn't miss any details. The home is 1920s and had some surprises - ie 3 layers of old siding instead of just 2 layers. Removing the unexpected 3rd layer (original wood siding) was only an additional $320. Some of the windows had mismatched trim and Craftsmen did an excellent job accommodating our request to match the trim to the rest of the windows. We also asked Craftsmen to core drill and pump in insulation prior to the new siding going on. This ended up being a lot of additional work since the house was virtually uninsulated -- but they were able to do it affordably and coordinate with a subcontractor. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the results.

We are considering lining them up for work next spring.

It's October 6th, and they are apparently done taking clients for the year. This is the email message that I got from "Kim:" >>Because of the high volume of calls for roofing damages from recent storms, and to keep our quality up we do not hire on crews of new people when storms come through. We cannot honestly guarantee we could get to your roofing needs this season. However, if this is a Roofing project that can wait till early Spring 2012 we may be able to set something up for you now and get your project started with an estimate. I explained to her that I didn't have a full roof replacement, only a few feet of damage, and she said: >> We specialize in full roof replacements and do not have a repair team for smaller jobs, like yours. So, it was disappointing to find one of the highest rated roofers on Angie's List basically shut down for the year in October, and also that they don't take "smaller" jobs. It would be nice if they'd indicate that somewhere on their AL profile page.

The crew was superb! Replacing the normal windows was a piece of cake, very straighforward. Replacing the shop windows was an extraordinary job that involved making large, square windows fit properly and look right in a non-square building. After 90 years of settling and warping, the windows required expert problem solving and carpentry skills. Job well done!

Excellent. Punctual, clean, made sure we do not p*** of the neighbors, etc I would highly recommend them

They were on time and on budget. They emailed me their bid and followed up with a phone call.

This was a somewhat tricky job, because we asked Craftsmen to coordinate with a mold abatement company we wanted to have remove some mold in the attic. Craftsmen had to re-schedule a number of times due to weather, and each time that meant re-coordination with the mold abatement team. But they did it and the two teams finally were able to find a stretch of good days to get their respective jobs done. In the end, Craftsmen did a great job on the roof and insulation. They also abided by the recommendations of the mold abatement team and did some extra work, like additional venting and replacing a lot of planking, to insure we don't have any further mold problems. I had another bid by another big national roofing company that was a bit lower than Craftsmen, but I could tell that the other company was going to cut corners. For example, the other company didn't want to coordinate with the mold abatement team and said they would just do it themselves, but they described how they would treat the mold and I knew it wasn't adequate. Craftsmen was willing to work with the outside mold abatement team right from the start and stuck to their word. My neighbor is a difficult guy to satisfy when it comes to home care, and even he has told me he thinks Craftsmen did a great job. I would definitely use them again for other big home improvement jobs.

Overall appearance after completion was excellent. At final inspection the city building inspector made the comment that he looked it over very carefully because the design of our house is such that there were a couple of tricky areas that builders often mishandle. In this case, he said everything was done correctly and the contractor had done an excellent job. Communication with office staff was good throughout the project. The cost was perhaps a bit above average but the quality of the work was well worth the price.
