Great. They rescheduled to come on the weekend before a very cold stretch of weather. There was an immediate improvement in the comfort inside our home. They were very meticulous in sealing all openings, putting insulated boxes around recessed lights and providing an additional layer of blown-in insulation to bring it up to the code recommended depth. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Let me start with a WOW! I highly recommend Craftsmen Home Improvements. Everyone I dealt with demonstrated outstanding customer-centered service, seriously, every single person. I don't know much about roofing other than you need it and it costs a lot-- those are some plain basic facts. I know our old roof was in VERY bad shape and while it was hard to part with $9k, it had to be done. Because of my lack of knowledge of roofing in general, I don't feel like I give a thorough review of their craftsmanship-- I guess time and few Minnesota winters will tell on that one. However, their attention to detail in terms of customer service-- something I do know a lot about -- makes me feel very confident that the work was done well. I'll start with Jim: Great salesperson. He first came to our house and provided an estimate in 2011, I think, a long time ago anyway. It took us that long to come to terms with the fact that we would need to replace our 12 year old roof. His demeanor was affable, patient, and responsive -- even when I followed-up with him two years later to request an updated estimate. No high-pressure sales tactics, just straight talk and willingness to answer all my questions. And, he stayed with the job all the way through inspection. Now on to Joan: She sent a letter when we made our deposit that said, "my job is to make sure that you receive great customer service." She does her job really well. Outstanding project management skills. I was thrilled with the proactive, detailed communication we received throughout the entire process. She answered all our questions before we even thought to ask them. I can't tell you how refreshing this is in a home project. If she taught a project management for contractors class, we'd see ratings go up all over Angie's List. Matt and crew showed up on time, were super friendly, respectful and down to business. Each crew member I encountered greeted me with a "good morning" and smile as they hurried pass. I was encouraged that this was a sign of workers who are treated fairly and enjoy what they do. While Craftsmen Home Improvements' bid wasn't the highest or the lowest I received, it seemed fair and I hope that trickles down through their organization. There was one little hiccup with the install, which I only bring up to further illustrate their commitment to service. After the install I noticed some discoloration in an area. I asked Joan about it because I didn't know if that would fade with time. Jim was out in short order to take a look. It turned out to be caused by metal filings that fell on the shingles and started to rust. Jim called to have them replaced and within a few days the offending area had vanished. Note: I didn't have to plead my case, ask for someone to take a look, or do anything more than send a note to Joan. The issue was simply addressed with professionalism. To sum it up, they were a dream to work with and I only wish all my home projects went as smoothly.

They did outstanding work and were very responsive to all requests. I was very impressed and have received many compliments on the outcome. The timelines were all met (actually exceeded), they moved very fast and the work was of extremely high quality . I've hired many contractors and this is the first one that made our happiness with the outcome their first priority. There was some confusion with the quote, but I worked with the owner and he resolved it all immediately. I paid just slightly more than other quotes, but the service and outcome were well worth it.

Dan and the Craftsmen team are great! They quickly, courteously and efficiently made the repairs needed at no additional cost. I genuinely appreciate their willingness to stand by their work and make the warranty repairs.

It went beautifully. Their service was outstanding across the board. Every person on their team--Jim the estimator and roof expert, Joan who coordinated the scheduling and communication, Matt and Elmer who headed a great roofing/insulation crew, and Troy the electrician--were all exceedingly professional and attentive. It was evident throughout the process, that customer satisfaction is their top priority. We had a minor snag with our fan, and everyone was on top of it. Without missing a beat, the team exchanged it for us and Jim, himself, personally installed the replacement. My husband and I have had a parade of contractors come through our home over the years, and we'd give Craftsmen highest marks. We felt like they considered us a member of their family.

Excellent experience overall. Worked with me to ensure I received maximum discount as well as rebate from Xcel energy. Work was very well coordinated and quality was excellent. Communication was excellent from quote to scheduling to follow up. Definitely would recommend them to family and friends, without hesitation.

Sales rep was very professional. Inspired service and quality of product that came into reality once the project was complete. Dan was very attentive once the contract was signed keeping us informed on start and completion dates. Crew left the property clean. Very satisfied with entire project and would recommend Craftsmen to anyone looking to replace their siding.

Dan from sales came over to give me a bid. He was very thorough in explaining the entire process and answered all my questions. After I hired Craftsmen, Joan from the office was in constant communication via email and phone explaining what was going on before, during and after the job was completed. The crew did the entire job in one day, and cleaned up absolutely everything. I am entirely satisfied with my new roof, and was extremely impressed by the staff at Craftsmen.

Eric, the salesman, was very good in explaining the options. Dan Bydlon was excellent. When a scheduling conflict arose he went above and beyond in reaching a resolution. He called every other day during the course of the project. The work crew did excellent work, the house looks great and the clean-up was well done. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and use them in the future.

We had used Craftsmen Home Improvements previously for siding replacement and porch construction projects. This job, just as the previous projects, went exactly as proposed and planned. Craftsmen Home Improvements provided a detailed and precise bid for the job. Once accepted the work was scheduled and project managed out of their office by Joan. She, acting as project manager, made arrangements for the permit, inspection, dumpster and keeping us notified about start time. She kept us informed as things changed and included us in the project implementation decisions. She was professional and personally pleasant to work with. The work crew, led by Matt, showed up when scheduled and went right to work. They worked hard and late the first day to make up for a rain delay. They did the tear off in sections to minimize risk for problems if the rain had started up again. They had finished the bulk of the shingling by quitting time on day one. Day two the finished the shingling, installed the rubber roof, did a high-end job of flashing and sealing all potential problem areas, cleaned up the area and went off to their next job. The entire crew was courteous, professional and focused on getting the job done right. They used all high-end materials; galvinized low-profile roofing vents, black flashing for the valleys to match the roof color, and replaced the vent pipe tops to match the roof as well. The roof looks terrific! The city inspector was very complimentary about both the job and Craftsmen Home Improvements' reputation for doing excellent work. He went as far as specifically pointing out and explaining to me the things they had done that were examples of their first-class workmanship and use of quality materials. It certainly meant a lot to have his affirmation that we have a great roof on our house.

Everyone involved from Jim Kosloski through Joan to Matt and the crew were professional, thoughtful, considerate and accommodating. They came when they said and kept me informed all through the process. After they left, I did a very thorough job of looking for nails since there are many children around. I am impressed with the cleanup. I only found one nail that had fallen in a crack in the sidewalk. Most importantly, the roof and details were perfect. They took special care to work with the guy doing a new chimney and the flashing detail is excellent. The dormer was a fussy job that they could have done something easy and probably gotten away with it but they kept with the original house detail, even replacing some crown molding (that had been replaced once before) with new and appropriately matching molding. Matt also fixed some damage in one of the eaves and now I can't even see where he did the repair it was so well-done. I doubt my house has looked this good in seventy years. They were not my low bid but I was betting that they had priced the job correctly for what needed to be done. I am now confident that I did the right thing.

It went great! Our bow window was fairly tricky - so extra precaution was taken - which did end up taking a little more time waiting for the install. But, to their credit, they did go the extra mile in getting the original window specs from the manufacturer (Pella) and then working with Lindsay. Install was clean (mats on floor, outside cleanup, etc.). The installers were courteous, easy going, and very knowledgeable. They took the time to do it right (even though it meant a day longer for the install. Liked the fact that they taped so I was ready to stain the inside right away.

We solicited bids from a couple of A-rated siding companies on Angie's List. We liked the Craftsman estimator best, owing to his care with the estimate. We chose Craftsman because their price was competitive (not the lowest, but best overall value), they paid careful attention to detail, they showed us pictures of the crew leaders who would work on our home, and they use the same crew on every Hardie Board/Plank installation (so we knew all Angie's List reviews for Craftsman installs of Hardie siding were for the very crew that would work on our home). We have high quality standards for the work done on our home by contractors. Craftsman exceeded our expectations on every level. They completed all work on time, on budget, without surprise or hassle, and we were most impressed by the quality of their work. To top it off, they took care to clean-up the work area every day. We will enthusiastically recommend Craftsman to anyone who wants a great contractor to install Hardie siding.

Very well. We are very pleased with the service, attentiveness, professionalism and genuine care the crew showed every day. We were impressed by how hard all worked, on a steep roof in the hot sun. Elmer the crew chief was friendly and checked in at the beginning and end of every day. Matt, the supervisor was superb. We really felt that we had gotten a top-notch job. It looks great, and the flashings they installed on the brickwork were not offered by any of the competing bids. And as for cleanup, as my wife said, "Impeccable. It was far better than I expected."

We hired Craftsmen to fix our back deck which had sunk noticably due to the dry ground from the previous winter. This deck is quite long - across the entire back of the house and supported (or supposedly supported at the time!) by 7 or so posts which were original so about 30 years old. We weren't even sure if the posts had proper footings because they had either sunk too low to see even with some exploratory digging or didn't exist in the first place. Erik Dahlin basically counted three posts that definitely needed proper footings once the deck was jacked up and restored to proper level. He devised a quote consisting of the initial work to jack up the relevant part of the deck, then the installation of footings for the three posts. He also factored in the possibility of having to dig out any existing footings that they might encounter, and the possible replacement of the posts should they prove unusable. The goal was to preserve as many of the original posts as possible to keep costs down. Craftsmen kept me informed about the expected start date and called to let me know their arrival time, etc. The work was done swiftly and professionally. As they began to dig they found out that indeed there were footings that had been poured using an outdated and flawed method - and they had sunk pretty deep! They needed to be dug out before new footings could be poured. So they dug out all that concrete and re-poured proper footings. We also found that the three posts were basically unusable due to rot so we agreed to replace those too. All these possibilities were part of the quote that Erik provided so no surprises there. It did increase the cost of the project significantly from the base quote but Erik had prepared us for that possibility. What WAS a surprise was that the install guy basically found that a FOURTH post proved unusable as well. What happened is that some concrete poured around the post to look like a footing completely crumbled away when they jacked up the deck - and the post was completely loose and rotted as well. It would have been over our budget to dig out and replace the extra footing and post so Erik very nicely gave us a bit of a discount - essentially a free footing - which was greatly appreciated. Overall they did a great job. Their work is guaranteed for the life of the deck so that's very comforting. These four posts were installed with proper footings and they look great! Our deck is nice and level again. The only glitch was the sticker shock over that fourth post - I think Erik was as genuinely surprised as we were to find that it needed replacing which is why he offered us a discount on that footing. He told me he didn't want us to feel that the project was going south. At the end of the day we were satisfied with the result from a financial perspective.

The salesman that provided our quote was very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped us to prepare for the re-siding of our home by going through the process steps and giving us details on the crew that would be working at our home. Prior to when the work was to begin, Craftsmen Home Improvement staff called us to keep us informed on when the crew would arrive and kept in touch with us throughout the process to ensure our questions were answered. The siding crew was very professional and cleaned up debris at the end of each day. The entire process took about 4 days and during that time the crew foreman was always available to us to answer our questions. We were very impressed with the workmanship and also that the foreman noticed we were missing one vent that had most likely blown away by a storm occurring about a week before the siding job began. The foreman took care of installing the missing roof vent and we were very grateful that he pointed that out to us. Craftsmen Home Improvement exceeded our expectations, have excellent customer service, and would be the first company we call for any home improvements.

Dealing with Craftsmen was a pleasure at all levels. They were very professional and responsive. We actually contracted the work in December of 2012 with snow on the roof so we could be on top of the list for Spring. We had some leak problems, so wanted to get the work done as early as possible. Just before the weather broke, I contacted the m about adding insulation work to the job. They responded quickly with a quote and contract change. They were able to start work within a couple weeks of the snow finally melting. The job took three days instead of the two they had hoped for as they had to work around rainy weather. They were very careful to plan around the weather to avoid possible problems and kept me informed every step of the way. Given the weather, it couldn't have gone any smoother. Excellent final product and thorough clean-up made the whole effort excelle

Jim was about 30 minutes late for our meeting. The meeting was fine, but his price was higher than other companies. I did not select Craftsmen.

From the first Craftsmen Home Improvement was extremely professional. Jim Koslowsi came out to my house shortly after I called the company. He explained the entire process and gave me choices for shingles, explaining the pros and cons of each. He let me know step by step how everything would go. Later Joan kept in contact with me by email as to when my project would begin. She let me know when the dumpster would arrive and asked me on which side of the drive I would like it placed. As I have a paver driveway, Craftsmen Home Improvement let me know they would put down plywood boards to protect the pavers. The work was completed in a day and a half. Matt, the foreman, kept me informed during the process. Everything was cleaned up before they let. Nothing was left behind, not even a nail. Joan again emailed me to let me know when the inspector and Jim would be back for my inspection. I would definitely recommend Craftsmen Home Improvement.

It worked out fine. I did not have to pay anything extra outside of the big deal amount. I was very pleased with them.

They added insulation and put in vents which has reduced the risk of ice dams. They treated the house with respect and fixed a bathroom fan which they didn't have to do. Very professional company!

This company is top notch -- I'd hire them again in a minute. I got estimates and there was only one company that came in for less than the Craftsmen estimate of $5,000 (ended up total $6,000 because of hourly and supplies for redecking the back half of the roof -- no way of knowing that was needed until old shingles were off). All the other companies I got estimates from warned me of that cost variable too -- they don't know if there will be rotted wood or decking to do until they get the old shingles off. What I would do different is be there the whole time they are working. There are alot of details, I would have liked to be there, weather had delayed the original date so I could not. After 10 years of fighting ice dams I would have preferred photos of what it looked with just roof boards, then after the decking, and then after the water/ice barrier was installed. Thought I had requested that from the foreman the morning they began work. I did get photos from the foreman of what it looked like after decking and water/ice barrier were done. Also, I had requested no roof vents on the front half. Sounded like that had not been written into the original work order written by the estimator. Luckily my partner happened to stop by as work was being done and called me so we could communicate no vents on front half of roof. Joan in their office is wonderful, always there, always knows what's going on. I should have had my cashier's check for roof payment tracked through the mail system. FIrst check for huge amount got lost in the mail. Joan was great about it -- I was stressed by it!

We hired Craftsmen Home Improvements because we knew by the company's numerous A reviews on Angie's List that we would be very happy with their work, and we were. They maintained communication, were timely, cared about meeting special requests, and--most important--did an excellent job. Our biggest special request was our need to use mineral wool insulation for our attic vs. other more traditional insulation. They seamlessly did the necessary research to accommodate this request, and did an excellent job. This construction project was very enjoyable--even relaxing--as they did all the work, and handled all the details. It was great!
