I had a leaking bathroom vent and having used them before I called to see if they would be interested in fixing this issue. Joan sent Jim out right away to look at it. Jim made some suggestions and we took some time to decide but they were very responsive. Best part of working with this group is they treat the customer like family and when working on your home they treat it like you would. From walking in the door to walking out they did everything they could to leave things like they found them. Such a change from some contractors that leave you with a HUGH mess when they leave.

Jim was prompt, professional and answered quite a lot of questions. I have a tough insulation challenge and get terrible ice dams (as do many of us with Cape Cod homes in the metro. After reviewing the space, he provided me with several options and an honest assessment of what each would do for me. Ultimately, he even recommended a company I could contact who might do the work to take another approach entirely. Based on this visit, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Craftsmen to do work for me in the future.

Dealing with Craftsmen is a pleasure. They answer all phone calls and emails within hours. We had to schedule several visits with the insurance adjustor and Craftsmen in August to ensure that all the hail damage was well-documented. It was easy to get both sets of calendars and match them up. Once agreement was reached, Craftsmen scheduled the roof replacement quickly, and then laid out a calendar to complete the siding, gutters, screens, doors and shutter replacement. If there was a need to reschedule on our part or theirs, there was always plenty of communication. If there were questions, emails were answered or phone calls were returned promptly. Craftsmen workers are attentive to detail. The shutters weren't the right color - no problem, let's get them replaced. Some Crane Board siding needs replacement, no problem, let's make sure the colors match up. Shutters not quite the right color - no problem, let's find some that are. Internal patio door needs matching woodwork stain - no problem, let's send someone out to see, and then mix and match stains to get the same color. We appreciated their eye for detail and their willingness to ask questions and make suggestions to ensure each project was completed with our complete satisfaction. All in all, we dealt with 15-20 Craftsmen personnel, and all made us feel they were working on our house as if it was theirs. We have recommended Craftsmen before and will do so again.

These people were wonderful. They were flexible in scheduling, listened to our ideas about the need for various options (additional underlayment, additional vents, etc.). Our roof is pitched at a low, gradual angle and does not shed snow very well They told us they could do whatever we wanted, and made suggestions on vent types, placements, etc. based on what we asked for. I felt that we were in good hands. They did the roof in one day--and came back the next day to finish the soffit, re-hang and adjust the gutters. It looks great, and we highly recommend this company.

I purchased the deal thinking that it was to insulate the whole attic. I got an email saying that it was only for $500 worth of insulation and that it would cost me anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000. Not knowing much about insulation pricing, I thought it was deceiving.

Everything went great and happened just as planned and estimated.

Our house was damaged by hail in August and, several days later, we consulted Angie?s List for a reputable roofer. Craftsmen Home Improvements appeared to be a cut above even the top-rated companies so we gave them a call. From then on, all we received was excellent, professional service, from the office staff (Joan and Kim) to the field estimator (Jim ? he even emailed us his picture so we?d know who he was when he showed up in our yard!) to the roofing Crew (Bill and company). The President of the company (Dan) even called us to make sure we were satisfied with the job. Craftsmen made dealing with our insurance company easy. Because so many homes had been hit by the hail, it took them awhile to get to us, but they kept us apprised of their schedule. (Some of our neighbors, who signed up with roofing companies that seemed to be chasing the storm, are still waiting for their jobs to be completed.) The weather was iffy, but they managed to squeeze us in. They had 14 workers tackle our job and got it done in a day! We could tell these were people who have been with the company for a long time, not just hired off the street to get through a crunch. A separate crew was equally efficient at doing a great job replacing some of our gutters. We had a few ?punch list? items that needed follow-up attention and they took care of them immediately and to our full satisfaction. They were always easy to reach when we had questions. We are very satisfied. On top of everything else, they gave us a $1,000 discount for being Angie?s List members!

They came out and tore my roof off. They put a new roof on along with soffit and facia. I would highly recommend them.

A canvassing window installer knocked on our door and pointed out some windows that were hail damaged. We started to question the professionalism of this contractor and withdrew from proceeding with them doing the work. Because they had already submitted a bid, we were locked in to an amount that had already been approved by American Family. I was certain that Craftsmen?s quality and outstanding reputation would come with a price far higher than the first installer and more than what AmFam would approve, but the bid was identical to the other company and we happily switched to Craftsmen for our Marvin Integrity windows. I prefer to be able to see what I am buying before committing. However, our existing windows had a beautiful spray lacquer finish with a unique sheen so it was necessary for us to do a custom match paint. Kim was our contact person and after coming out to see what we had told me that she had never worked with this type of finish before. I got a little nervous when I heard that. I am a chronic worrier (and a doubter as well.) Oh, I should also add perfectionist. I was just waiting to hear those disappointing words, ?it?s not matching but it?s as close as we can get.? Instead I heard Kim telling me that she and her crew were consulting other painting professionals, applying different painting techniques, and were committed to making sure the new windows matched the old. She asked for a slight delay in the installation to keep working on the painting because it was good-but it wasn?t perfect. She said she wouldn?t be satisfied until she was sure I would be happy. She noticed a tiny difference in the trim that was ordered and our existing trim and reordered the correct style (we probably would never have noticed.) She was absolutely amazing and she got the new trim to look exactly like the 11 year old existing trim. She is the Picasso of lacquer paint trim and her attention to detail is phenomenal! She is also hands-down one of the nicest people on this earth! Jim and Tom along with their team did the installation. All the guys were professional, polite, cleaned as they went and did a fantastic job with the installation. It was an absolute pleasure having them in our home! They also have a window cleaner come and make sure the windows sparkle after they are installed. What a nice touch! We had the windows installed in October but waited to write our review so we could give the windows the draft test once the weather turned cooler. My mom sits two inches away from one of the new windows and she has declared them 100% draft free! I am relatively new to Angie?s List and had only used it once previously. When I selected Craftsmen based on the stellar reviews, in the back of my mind, I thought are these reviews for real (there?s the doubter in me again). Everyone is happy with their work? You don?t see that too often. If you have read down this far, I can tell you this is a genuine and honest review for one of the best experiences we have ever had with any company. Everyone at Craftsmen is committed to excellence and they went above and beyond for us. I?m confident they will do the same for you! Craftsmen is an outstanding organization to work with. We had three projects completed in the summer of 2013, including a James Hardie siding install, teardown and build a new cedar deck, and install a new sliding patio door. Each crew from Craftsmen was professional, clean and efficient. Everyone communicated really well. Price was on budget, and very competitive compared to most quotes I received. We only had one issue - which Craftsmen resolved with THE BEST customer service I have ever received IN MY LIFE. I wont even say what the issue was, because they fixed it in a day. I would highly recommend them for any project they wish to take on.

Overall, Craftsmen Home Improvements did a good job. The salesman seemed a little annoyed when I asked him to bring an actual sample of the window to my home so I could see and touch the product that was going in since there was no showroom for me to go to view the product, but he did do it as requested. I'm guessing that the annoyance may have been from the dollar amount of my job, 4800.00, which I thought was a lot of money, but was probably on the lower side of what the salesman was used to. The windows were installed within the time frame that was quoted however, I was a bit surprised on how quickly the windows went in. There was an installation crew of two guys ( who were great by the way) however, it took both guys a total of 5 hours of labor to install all 7 windows. So, if we do the math that would be 10 hours of labor ( 2 guys X 5hrs), so this is why I only rated a "C" for price. Seems the price could have been much lower since hardly any labor time was needed. For quality, I did have some service issues after the installation. There were some scratches on the windows, so one of the windows had to be replaced after install to remedy the scratch. Since installing windows is basically installing glass I wish the installers would have included a step in the installation process to check for any scratches, but since the labor installation came off as rushed I assumed there was probably no time for this step since that may have been in a hurry to get to the next job. This scratch issue was handled professionally and was corrected in a timely manner. For responsiveness, I qualified for the MAC noise insulation program and had a form that needed to be completed after the windows were were fully paid however, when I reached out to the company to get the form completed it took about a month to finally get the form. I had to make multiple attempts at contacting the company for the form since I would not get calls back after I would leave messages. I assumed that they were not in a hurry to service my request since they had their money, but I did finally get the form. I work in customer service, so I may have a heightened awareness in the service area. The response back to customers in the field that I work in is 24 to 48hrs, which is not the case here. I do not hire out home improvement projects very often , so I just assumed that the slower response is just standard in this industry.

Erich in sales communicates well as does Joan in the office. The work crew is thorough and well organized. It was a 7 day job and they cleaned up at the end of every day. This is an easy company to work with.

In June, we contacted CHI to come to our home and give us their recommendation and estimate on replacing all windows, siding and gutters/downspouts. Eric was the salesman who visited us and was very helpful with suggestions for what we might want to do. He was very knowledgeable and we felt no pressure to make decisions quickly. After talking it all over and getting another estimate from a different company, we decided to go with CHI. Everyone we came in contact with was very helpful, courteous, and professional. Dan, the owner, bent over backwards to be sure we were happy every step of the way. Kim was great in helping us select colors, came to our home several times, was very patient, and truly wanted us to be sure about our choices. She was very helpful! Work started mid -to-late August. Tom and Jim were the main window replacement guys and were so easy to have in the house during all the tear out and install. Their work was meticulous as was their cleanup. They kept us informed all along of issues that came up while doing the work. Steve, Pat, Beto and their crew came to do the siding replacement and were also polite and professional. They answered any concerns that came up and were very patient with us trying to make sure that everything was as we wanted it. Each day before they left, they cleaned up the work area, especially looking for nails, etc in the lawn. They all had some hot days doing some heavy work, but were always pleasant and accommodating. Once the siding was up, the gutter and downspout guys were here, soon had everything replaced and had given us a time they would return to put the gutter covers on. They also were very professional and courteous and friendly. When all the work was complete, there were a couple of concerns we had with the aesthetics by our front door and, once again, Dan was there to do whatever he needed to do to be sure we were happy. He sent out his "guy with an eye for detail", Rob, who did some minor repair and touch up in order to take care of the area that concerned us. From start to finish, working with CHI was a pleasure. The company has one thing in mind.........to be sure the customer is happy all along the way and with the end product. We are very happy and want to thank everyone at Craftsmen Home Improvement!

They were knowledgeable and easy to work with, but the job I had was too big for the deal.

Jim, from Craftsmen Home Improvement, showed up, right on time. This was the 3rd roofing company that I was going to get an estimate from. The first company said I needed a new roof. The 2nd company said that I didn't. So-- the tie breaker! Jim was very professional. He measured the roof, and told me, for the first time, that when the house was built, in 2004, they used a mix of shingles--some from the ones that have been discontinued, and others from another batch. The bad batch are raised up and curling. Jim said we did not need a new roof at this time. Guess we will have to wait for a good hail storm. I am going to call the first company and have them send a more experienced individual out, once more. Will let you know the outcome. Two out of three say--a new roof is not needed.

Representative promptly responded to a request for an interview and proposal. Representative presented proposal on computer tablet at home which made it very easy to understand the proposed work. Representative promptly sent proposal via internet and made corrections to proposal that were requested. Representative bought a small subset of shingles to residence to choose shingle color. Crew mobilized on scheduled date. Crew completed work in one day. Staff were available to answer questions throughout project. During installation, crew quickly tarped roof because of a rain shower and promptly uncovered roof and continued installation. Crew worked quietly and seamlessly. Once work began, crew: Tore off existing shingles. Protected siding bushes and yard with tarps. Removed all roofing material, stacks, vents, valley and flashing. Replaced re-nailed loose boards and plywood. Installed ice and water shield. Installed shingles, heavy duty steel vents, with matching color; installed heavy duty ridge venting; install new plumbing stacks; new chimney flashing; and new drip edge. Cleaned up site completely. Landscaping not damaged. The quality of the installation was far superior than the installation of the previous installation.

Very well . . . did an excellent job. Cleaned us all the mess after install.

This was a major job to essentially repair the exterior of my house. All of the work was done through Craftsmen Home Improvements, Inc. The first thing done was an assessment of the work that needed to be done and an estimate. My wife and I were given recommendations for what work needed to be done and the options for materials. The estimate came in at about what I had expected for the amount of work we needed done. After the estimate another inspection was done to make ensure the proper approach was taken to complete the work on our house. The house is old and was in need of a lot of repair. Again options were discussed and a plan was made. The first thing done was the roof. The roofing crew worked very fast in extreme heat. I was impressed with how they constantly checked the weather forecast and, at the hint of rain, covered everything quickly and securely. If not for the threat of rain they would have been able to complete the job in one day. The crew returned the next day early and finished by noon. They were very responsive to my questions and concerns. They also did an excellent job cleaning the worksite when they were finished. The next portion of the work to be completed was window installation. I had eight old windows removed and replaced with new double hung models. The window crew was excellent. They answered my questions, were very careful with removal of the old windows and installation of the new windows. The process was complete in half a day. There was a small issue with one window and manufacturer was called and they sent a repairman within two days. If you use this company for window installation I would suggest washing them yourself with water and newspaper. This works very well. They will offer to wash the windows after installation but I ended up rewashing them after the crew left. The window crew did an excellent job cleaning the worksite. I am very happy with the quality of the windows that were installed. I find them to be superior the Andersen windows I have had in the past. The next thing done was the siding. I requested steel siding and I think this made the installation take a little longer than usual. The job took about four days but one day was cut short by a rain storm. The old siding was removed, new siding installed and all soffits, facia and window trim was wrapped in aluminum. In addition, pieces of the facia that had water damaged were removed and replaced. I had some trouble communicating the plan that had been made for my house to the foremen of the siding crew. They were less responsive to questions and concerns I had than the other work crews that had been at the house. Overall, the siding went very smoothly and the crew work quickly. I was very happy with the finished product. The city inspector said that it was the best siding work that he had seen for a long time and he was impressed. I had to rate the worksite clean-up for the siding crew as average as compared to other workers that had been at the house. I understand that it is difficult to find all the material that drops during a siding job but I think with a little more attention to the clean up process much of what I had to pick up could have been caught by the crew using their magnet. The last thing done was the gutter installation. An inspection of the house was done and the foreman made plan he then discussed with me. He gave me the best options for my house and his suggestions. My house had some tricky angles to work with and he wanted to keep my informed about what they were doing and why. The installation did not take long and crew cleaned up the worksite very well. I had one issue after the installation with a small leak in a corner and that was addressed within hours me call Craftsmen. I also had gutter covers installed. I went with the recommendation of Craftsmen for the gutter covers. Although they work pretty well I don't think they are superior to less expensive covers I had used in the past. Overall, I am very happy with the work that Craftsmen did on my home. I would definitely recommend them to someone who was looking for a contractor. They are very responsive to questions and concerns and will always answer your phone calls. They provide a lifetime guarantee and they do high quality work. The city inspector that came to the house when the work was completed was very impressed and asked me who had done it. Many of my neighbors have also inquired about the work that was done and who I hired. Although the cost of the work I had done might seem expensive to some, I believe that it was well worth the price for the quality of the work and responsiveness of the Craftsmen team.

We first dealt with Jim, who went over everything, cost, materials, etc. He was very clear in his descriptions of costs, materials needed, and work that would be done, and possible "glitches" that might come up, i.e., if they found rotted planks, the cost for repairing each, etc. (They didn't find any.) The crew started on a VERY HOT afternoon and with our permission worked a bit late, showed up early the next a.m. as promised, and were finished with the whole roof job before early afternoon. They were all very pleasant to deal with! They cleaned up all materials, everything.....and left the yard looking almost better than when they started. The roof looks great. We dealt with Joan in the office, who organized schedules, etc. via phone and email and she was very pleasant, organized, and always called or emailed us promptly in response to any questions we had. The gutter crew came last week, and did a good job. They too were very pleasant and professional.

They were totally punctual and they cleaned up very well. They were on time with every aspect of the job. Everything looked perfect when they left the job site.

Working with the estimator Jim was great as he was very professional, provided great service with the estimate, answered all my questions & checked in when work was started and finished. All of my billing and scheduling was handled by Joan who did a great job and kept me informed of when the work would start and how the inspection would be handled along with follow up when it was completed. The crew who installed the shingle roof, applied the coating on the existing rubber roof did a great job and left the yard clean with no debris. The crew who installed the gutters did a great and also left everything clean. Now I just need it to rain so I can see the new gutters in action.

There were not any glitches in things at all. The estimate held true to the outcome, materials were ordered and delivered as planned and ready to go. The roofing crew was great - had everything done as planned. They answered my questions and followed up on things; cleaned up well. The gutters were placed on a latter date, but that was planned and not a problem. They missed one section that I had a question about. But I called and they had someone out right away to look at it - no problem. I have worked with this company before and have found them to be top notch.

We had purchaseda big deal for the service, and it was fabulous. When I bought the big deal, I knew that I would have to pay more, and their price was probably 3 or 4 times more than the value of the big deal but that was okay. Their communication was extremely effective. They talked me through everything that needed to be talked through. They showed up when they said they would show up, and they did excellent work. They got back promptly and fixed what they hadn't done properly. They made a mistake, but they came right out to fix it. I couldn't have been more pleased. Their price seemed realistic to me.

Went well, we went with a different roofer because the other guy did actually get up on the roof to inspect it.
