Jeff did a great job on upgrading my countertops. And at a good price

We were referred to Jeff earlier this year by another kitchen contractor as part of an overall kitchen remodel at our home. Jeff recently completed backsplash tile work for us that included the demolition and removal of our old backsplash and the installation of new ceramic tile. Jeff is a pleasant and agreeable fellow and worked efficiently to complete the project in a timely manner. The final results looked great and his efforts helped make our kitchen look a little more contemporary. I certainly recommend Jeff to anyone looking for a quality tile contractor.

Things did not go well. After multiple delays, work was unacceptable and unprofessional. First off, Jeff seems like a great guy. This review is purely regarding the work. Jeff is personable and eager to correct the flaws in his work. Even the ones he told me he couldn’t see or understand. Like 90 degree cuts, uneven edges, uneven seams and incorrect measurements resulting in the cabinets having a tight fit on one side of the stove and gap on other. His inability to build a corner sink countertop (took a couple tries). After correcting nearly all the flaws, we thanked him and moved on. If you have straight counters without angles and no intricate cuts needed, this is your man. But if you’re looking for someone who can perform the technical work you might not be able to handle (which is why we hired someone), steer clear. A “C” rating is generous and is based on his attempts to correct his subpar work. I’m amazed he has an “A” rating.

Jeff did an excellent job. It was perfect with no problems. He definitely new his stuff.. He came out right away to give a bid that I thought was reasonable. It came in under what we had estimated in our heads. He had suggestions and also was super easy to ask questions through email and responded right away. I thought he did an excellent job and we are using him again for our laundry room counters. I would recommend him to anyone.

Counters and sink look fabulous. Everything was done as agreed. Jeff was very helpful determining edges and the laminate we decided on (Wilsonart Winter Carnival). If we would have known the counters would look so wonderful we would have had them done sooner.

We are so glad we contacted Jeff at Countertops Plus! He helped us choose countertops that look great with the colors in our home and he created and installed them expertly, including a corner sink, an odd-shaped peninsula and a six-sided island. He also installed a new sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher, which required that he correct the plumbing that was badly installed by the previous owner. Then he removed a glass backsplash, removed and replaced a portion of the drywall that was damaged in the process (those tiles were really stuck!) and prepared the whole wall for paint. Everything looks beautiful and works perfectly! Jeff is also a great communicator and a very nice guy. We highly recommend him!

installed laminate countertop. no surprises

I knew close to nothing about backsplash tile. Jeff was helpful with advice on what kinds of things I could do, and what would look nice in my kitchen. He was courteous, professional, and easy to work with. I love my new kitchen - thanks Jeff!

Earlier in the year, Jeff had installed new kitchen countertops and new backsplash tile. Overall, we were pleased with the results once some touch-up work was done. When a new microwave was installed recently, it was considerably shorter than our old one, and the new tile no longer covered all of the wall below the microwave. Jeff responded to our call for help and came when he had an opening in his schedule. He did the work quickly and professionally, pulling out the stove, chipping off a line of tile, and installing new tile to better match the pattern that an extra row of tile required. The price was reasonable.

Jeff did a fantastic job. Our kitchen looks beautiful. He removed fake brick on our backsplash and tiled it. Also replaced our countertops in the kitchen. We needed a cabinet raised for an over-the-range microwave and he had new cabinet doors made. He matched the stain perfectly and installed them. We couldn't be more pleased with his work. He is a really nice guy and a pleasure to have in the house. I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone!

Jeff did a great job. I have a small kitchen with a white tile and backsplash. Jeff came out within a few days of being contacted to give an estimate. He was very nice and thorough in what he planned to do. He even suggested a new backsplash to match the new laminate counter which I had not thought of.So glad he did cause the kitchen would not looked as classy if I had left the old backsplash. He had me pick out the tile and then he picked it up. It was about 4 weeks between the estimate and the actual work getting done which is exactly how long he said it would be. Jeff showed up when he said he would, worked hard all day and then came back for another 4 hours on a Saturday to grout the tile and finish up. He cleaned up afterwards and even vacuumed the floor. Jeff was very easy to work with, professional and did a great job. I highly recommend him.

The project went very well. Jeff is really easy to talk to and answered all of our questions. The new countertops look great. He was also able to remove the old and install the new countertops without damaging our existing tile backsplash. I would definitely use Jeff again in the future.

I contacted Jeff based on Angie's list reviews. I called him and he was in the area and came out the same day. What was so impressive about Jeff is that he measured everything, came up with solutions to problems, was willing and able to perform work in a number of disciplines, gave me an exact dollar estimate and created a job list for himself and me in his first visit. I hired him on the spot and did not get any other bids. He built the custom microwave cabinet and the counter tops off site. (By the way, I had two kitchen cabinets custom made to match exactly the existing cabinets by a professional cabinet maker. Jeff's microwave cabinet is beautiful and of the same quality as the cabinets that I had made.) He worked steadily and is a perfectionist. He works alone and is very strong and able to manhandle the tear out without destroying my house. He used a shop vac frequently to keep the mess at bay. His work is perfect. He does not take the easy way out. What is so great about this guy is that he does it all. You don't have to hire the tile installer, the plumber, the counter top guy, the cabinet maker, the hauler, the handy man to remove old appliances or the kitchen designer. The work was done in 2 days and I never lost the use of my kitchen or plumbing overnight. The guy is brilliant! Plus, he has a great personality and is a pleasure to work with. Jeff was fantastic in every regard and I would highly, highly recommend him!!! As a single woman, doing any kind of renovation makes me nervous and the whole thing is a little overwhelming but Jeff was easy to talk to, professional, easy to get in touch with and really professional. He also coordinated with a silestone provider/installer who also did a great job. My kitchen looks fantastic and I could not be happier!

Jeff did a fabulous job. He provided a quote and was very patient as I looked through laminate samples. We discussed a schedule and found a mutually convenient time. He was very accommodating when there was a change in plans after discussing cabinet refacing with a different vendor. The countertop was installed in a day. Jeff also installed a tile backsplash a couple weeks later. We talked about how I wanted it to look, made recommendations, and brought samples over for me to review. The work was done beautifully, and he also helped me with some drywall patching and installing a light fixture in the kitchen. The countertops and back splash are absolutely gorgeous!

We were going to put in new title in our kitchen and I asked my husband how hard would it be to tear out a wall between the kitchen and livingroom. I came home from work and the wall was gone and the electrical was hanging in mid air. We needed help because we had gotten over our heads. I knew I wanted new countertops to go with the new tile but we faced a much bigger problem. We were into a full remodel of the kitchen, livingroom and diningroom that we had not planned for. I contacted Jeff to see if he give us an idea of what new countertops would be. He came over the next day with his samples. We were at a loss on what kind of remodel to due. With his vast experience Jeff gave us some ideas. Over the next 3 months we gutted the kitchen down to the stud walls. When we were ready for the cabinets and countertops to go in we gave Jeff a call and he was there within a couple of days. He exceeded expectations and did a beautiful job. I had used Jeff before to install countertops and knew he takes great pride in his work .

The first time I used Jeff (July of 2011) was to replace the old (70's) countertops in a house built in 1941 in South Minneapolis that we planned to sell. Jeff accomodated our schedules and came over with many samples of all different colors, and was very familiar with how they would look as entire countertops as opposed to just the samples. He has a wonderful eye for color and was able to help us choose what would look best in our particular kitchen. He is also very patient and made sure we were comfortable with our choice. At our request he also picked out and replaced our outdated sink. The installation went very well, he cleaned up everything before he left, and when he was done the kitchen looked better than it ever had. The second time (Fall of 2011) was to replace the kitchen countertops in a townhouse in Shoreview built in 1979. Again, he came out with samples and had very good opinions for what would look good with both the floor and also the cabinets. He certainly didn't force his opinions on us but ultimately we went with one of his suggestions, and I'm glad we did. I was a little worried that it might be too dark since that kitchen has no windows, but it's just the opposite. He also tiled the entire wall and not just the backsplash and now we have an entirely new kitchen that we absolutely love. I just wish I had another house for him to do. Installation was wonderful and he really took the time to make sure everything was perfectly aligned. I would use him again in a heartbeat!

Jeff got back to me right away and was prompt for our appointments. Measurements were accurate and installation went smoothly. Jeff paid attention to details and took great care in the installation. Unlike others, Jeff didn't sub-out the plumbing and sink installations, but did it himself. Was a little concerned as he's a "countertop guy" not a plumber, but the results are great! He even added shutoff valves that didn't exist previously. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Countertops Plus again. His does his work with quality and professionalism and it shows in the results. [Had a 4-5 others quote the job over the past year and a half and Jeff's pricing was very competitive].

We recently had our kitchen cabinets refaced by Custom Refacing(Lonn). Of course we wanted to replace the old counter tops with new. Lonn works closely with Jeff at Counter Tops Plus and suggested we talk to him. Jeff was on time, explained what he would do in detail, gave us a very fair estimate & was easy to work with. There was a small problem with the trim on the countertop, it didn't come in as scheduled. Not Jeff's fault but he sure felt bad about it. As soon as it came in Jeff called to schedule the job. He showed up as promised, removed the sink, removed & disposed of the old counter, installed the new counter tops & reinstalled the sink---that alone saved me a headache! Both Jeff & Lonn cleaned up after themselves so we could use the kitchen anytime. The counters look fantastic & we know will last & be enjoyed as long as we live here. His measurements and installation were perfect. It really helps to pull our new kitchen together! The backsplash runs up the wall to meet the cabinets and compliments the whole thing--very nice! Need new countertops? You can't go wrong with Jeff! Thanks Jeff, it's good to know that there are still honest people out there who take pride in what they do!

The pricing was fair and good. It went well. It looks nice. He did it in a timely fashion and cleaned up after himself. I might possibly use them again.

They came and took the measurements and then custom built the counters. They took off the old ones and put in the custom built new ones. They did not do the plumbing work. They cleaned up after themselves. Overall it was good. They seemed to work in conjunction. They did a good job.

Jeff gave us a very competitive bid, ordered the materials and arranged to install them. He was very professional and easy to work with. He recommended a place where we could see the different laminates on larger sheets, which helped us in making our decision of which countertop to select. He did an excellent job and we are very happy with our new countertops and sink (which he hooked up). We highly recommend his work.

Interestingly we had originally planned to order countertops from a home improvement store and then have someone install them. When I called countertop installers, none of the ones I called install countertops purchased from a retailer. They make them themselves (meaning they construct the substrate onto which they adhere the laminate). The benefit is that they can make on site and cut the laminate anyway they like so that you have the smallest seam in the most inconspicuous place, usually at the sink. Countertops from a retailer will come in straight pieces only and will meet at the corners of your countertop with a big 45 degree seam that is unsightly and over time catches a bit of grime and water. The countertops also are made with a single layer of fairly flimsy particle board whereas custom installed countertops might have two layers and may use plywood. The installers I called slammed the retail countertops. Jeff explained this same information in a pretty pc way and I chose to go with the custom approach (as I felt it was higher quality) and with Jeff. I feel that Jeff did an excellent job. Our countertops look awesome. The seams between pieces of laminate are almost invisible. Jeff did our job in between other, larger jobs. He came one day and took the measurements. Built the countertops back in his shop that night and installed them the next day. He also removed the old countertops and uninstalled and reinstalled the sink and cook top. He took away the old countertops. It was nice to have it all done so quickly. I do feel that perhaps, at the corners, the beveled edges could have been a bit more perfect as they do show a bit of the underside of the laminate and I wondered a bit whether Jeff had rushed the job. I say perhaps, because I have not had the chance to look at any other similar made countertops to compare. These actually may be the best it can be. And certainly, I would never have noticed if I weren't looking very closely studying them and I am a bit of a perfectionist. Along the straight edges things do look perfect. Can't see a single bit of the underside of the laminate and I think it will lead some to think the countertops are stone. Jeff was very courteous and professional. I didn't get other specific quotes but he was in the range, albeit towards the high end, of the rough estimates I got over the phone.
