This was a $1,000.00 project, with no written contract -- my mistake! This one-and-a-half week project started on Tuesday, March 19: tile, cement backer board, and thin-set all provided by me. As of April 16, the $1,000.00 labor charge and $150 material cost had been paid in full. Edward Cooper (contractor) purchased needed plumbing supplies for my dishwasher installation. He also identified the problem with (2) valve stems to the sink's faucets, and corrected the problem by replaycing (2) washers [thank you.] He also found appropriate grout at Tile Town. His custom dishwasher cabinent and dishwasher installation went very well. Problems developed with the construction and tiling of the dishwasher cabinent top and pass-through window construction and installation. Dishwasher top was warped, and after being advised of that, he chose to use it anyway, saying, the tile would be evened out with Thin Set. The dishwasher top tiling and pass-through window countertop tiling are both uneven. The pass-through window wall-tiling extends beyond the wall surface, which will make it much more difficult to complete the yet unaddressed casing trim for the window. The trimming of the molding around the pass-through window countertop has not been completed: that casing has not been purchased, stained, finished or sealed. None of the grout on the backsplash, dishwater cover, pass-through window countertop, are pass-through window tiling are sealed. The casing for the pass-through window still remains absent. He failed to clean up any of his scraps -- both inside and outside. As of May 24, after not hearing from Mr. Cooper, I contacted him by phone at about 8:30 p.m., asking when I could expect him to return and finish the project? He said, "you have your cabinent and I am done." When asked what about the trim around the pass-through window, and finishing the moulding, he hung on me. As of June 18, three months after starting this 1& 1/2 week project, Mr. Cooper has chosen to break off all contact even after being reminded that the project remains incomplete. Mr. Cooper was advised via phone message that a new carpenteur would need to be found by me to complete his project, and that I would forward the cost of that carpenteur to him for payment.
