College Works Painting - Minnesota

Description of Work: I don't have a lot to compare their work to, because I used to do it myself, and haven't hired another company to do my house-staining job. I averaged my ratings, because there was one very poor prep-worker, one very good supervisor, and two good painters applying the stain. They were good at staining, but not so good at caulking. They took a shortcut of spraying on the stain without the use of a spray shield. But otherwise they did what they said they would do, with only a few reminders, only a bit of damage to the peak shingles, and only a few spots missed. I guess that's about what you get these days from a modern contractor, and it's surely more economical than paying someone by the hour to complete all of the details.

Description of Work: Painted house exterior. Charged extra for lead paint containment but there were paint chips left. Had to asked for a heppa vac to clean up decks. Painters were very punctual and hard working. Do not like the discount offered if the contract was signed the first day.

Description of Work: Did not do what was promised. Contract cancelled for failure to schedule work.

Description of Work: I contracted with College Works to provide two coats of stain [an extra $400 charged] to the cedar siding front on our house. They said they did the two coats at the same time (i.e. within minutes of each other) though the manufacturer's instructions on the can were it takes at least 24 hours to dry. So I ended up with heavy, heavy coats that took more than 5 days to dry and were not uniform in nature. They also completely skipped one area on the far right-hand side of the house which I will have to do myself. The two individuals seemed much more intent on just getting done then with doing a good job. |

Description of Work: We hired College Works to paint our house the 1st week in June. We were assured they would be able to paint the house sometime in mid to late June. The date was important because we needed to coordinate with a landscaping project. I checked in several times on the status and started getting the run around on the dates. I spoke to Cory on July 17th and he was going to get right back to me and has not. My husband called him and he returned his call to tell him MAYBE he can get it done by the end of August, which is 2 1/2 months later than promised!! Of course they cashed our down deposit check right away.

Description of Work: Very good job, would recommend.
