Description of Work: Was promised attention to detail and lots of prep work was needed and promised. they were to power wash entire house scrape vine remains off of siding. None of it was done. I was up-sold to more expensive paint which still didn't cover due to inexperienced spray painters. I was out of town the week they did it because of a scheduling conflict with them.I expected it to take at least one day to power wash and scrape, but when my daughter stopped by the morning they started, they were already half way around the house with paint.Painted over dirt, cobwebs, and all of the vine feet. They missed spots, didn't mask windows and doors properly. I'm still trying to get overspray off of my new Marvin patio doors without voiding my warranty. I confronted the salesman Cory about the poor quality work and he said they don't always powerwash if it's not needed,(even though it was clearly spelled out in the contract.) I told him I would pay him a reduced amout due to the poor workmanship. He would not accept a lower payment, but did offer to come back and fix some of the bad spots, or do a second coat for a bunch more money. I paid him in full, and re-painted the entire house myself, as I should have done in the first place. Worst home improvement experience of my life.

Description of Work: The representative came to me and asked if she could do a quote. When she measured she used oversized paces which were no where near the actual measurement. When I asked her to use a tape measure she said they were not supposed to. She gave me an estimate for my front porch and back deck then told me it wasn't enough to do. For a program that is suposed to teach about business not professional.

Description of Work: Bid was misleading because after they painted they told us we needed a second coat and they bid for only one coat of paint. We felt that they should be capable of determining the number of coats that would be needed from the start and bid accordingly. They did agree to apply a second coat to some areas and the job is satisfactory.

The service was okay. Two to three guys came out and it took them a couple of weeks to complete the job. There was a part of the house that was difficult to work on and they failed to mention that when they did the estimate. The person I worked with was easy to get hold of, responsive and it seemed like he wanted to do a great job. He did respond to some issues I had on one side of the house.

Everything went very well. These guys are neat and tidy when they work. They are methodical and organized.
Description of Work: Sam Boddicker and his team painted the exterior of our home, and they did a fantastic job. Everything was done according to the contract we agreed to. The most helpful part of the process was Sam actually coming and painting small patches of the color choices we were considering. He did two full coats for the paint sample patches so we could really see how the color would look. This helped us make our choice. We were very pleased with every part of the service Sam provided. He is a young professional who knows the value of having his name associated with service and excellence. We are very glad we chose College Works Minnesota!

What occurred was not what was as stated in the estimate. The estimate included exterior siding power washing, scraping, sanding, caulking as needed, priming and final coat of paint, all included in the estimated total price of $3400.00. The initial price was in the "ballpark" of what a professional contractor would charge in my opinion. A week before the service was to be scheduled, I was informed that they would not be sanding, but the remainder of the work would be completed as planned, for the same price. I was skeptical of the results, but proceeded. The day they were supposed call to schedule the power washing, I received no call. The following day they showed up with a bucket and sponge and proceeded to "wipe down" the siding to clean off cobwebs, etc. There was no power washing, yet the same price. The following morning, a few individuals showed up to start the rest of the job. The house required extensive prep work which, upon receiving the estimate, I was told was their number one priority - prep work. I agreed to use their service precisely because of this statement they made about the importance of prep. After maybe 3 hours into the job, I was informed the prep work on one side was done and that they were ready to proceed with painting the first side. Stunned by how 3-4 days of what would take a normal person to prep the house for paint could possibly be even close to ready for a coat of paint after a mere 3 HOURS, I went out to survey what was done. At this point, paint was still chipping and peeling off the house which could still be chipped off with my fingers, alone. They made additional attempts to, in essence, "glue" the chipping edges of paint back on by applying a coat of "sealer" over the still-chipping paint. I continued to express my significant concerns at this point. They were very willing to try and accomodate me; however, the qualify of workmanship just did not get any better upon numerous further attempts and it was evident they did not know what they were doing. (I should mention no cauking was done either, as the estimate stated.) Then to see primer literally dripping down the side of my house where it was being applied and left like that to dry without any attempt by them to brush the primer smooth nor feather it out, was my last straw and I could not continue to the rest of the house. After all was said and (not) done, I was still charged a third of the cost of the entire job, when not even 10% of the job was completed. And of the 10% of the work they did attempt, none of it was to my satisfaction and needed to be completely redone in its entirety for the job to get done correctly - so in essence, the job was still considered 0% complete. When questioning the invoice as to additional blanket charge of an extra $500 dollars adding up to 1/3 of the cost of the full job that was not even close to 10% complete, I was told it was "overhead" charge and they could not specify or itemize what the "overhead" was for. The additional charge was over and above the already itemized expense for labor and supplies. What other overhead was there then?? No response.... Upon calling the national service center for additional clarification, they would not provide me with a local contact and told me to call back a different day to see if someone was available. That's where that sits, currently. I will give relatively high marks for the courtesy and overall professionalism of the employees on the job site, but not for their knowledge nor anything else. I am 100% disappointed in such lack of knowledge and poor qualify of workmanship. If you have a house that requires any amount of prep work, I would strongly discourage you from electing to use College Works Painting. They clearly do not educate or adequately train their personnel prior to placing them on the job site. They charge what a professional, knowledgable, experienced contractor would charge, but in NO way produce the same quality of work. You can find much better contractors for the same price or less, who actually know what they are doing. If you have a newer house and all you need is a coat of paint and you want to pay premium pricing, then you may or may not end up a satisfied customer. Best of luck to you if you proceed with this company!

Every detail, including paint color scheme was reviewed before work began to establish mutually agreed upon expectations. The team then went to work to achieve the desired results. They were thorough, obviously took pride in their workmanship, and provided positive feedback when they were queried about details of the job. Their team leader demonstrated a positve leadership style which I sensed inspired the team as a whole to a high level of excellence. I appreciate a job well done and would strongly recommend College Painters Works to anyone who wishes to upgrade their home.

We were fully satisfied with the professionalism and quality of work given by College Works painting. We had our house painted by Ashley Perlock and her crew and could not be happier. From the beginning of the project to the end, Ashley kept us informed on every step of the process, from the paint selection to the scheduling. The whole job was completed according to plan and we would highly recommend Ashley and her team with College Works painting. We contracted with College works painting this summer to paint our house. They did a beautiful job, meticulously washing, scraping, and painting the home. They worked diligently with conscientious attention to detail. We couldn't be more pleased with the final result. We were so impressed with all the workers from the branch managers, the crew manager, and the members of the crew. They are all outstanding people and workers and it was a priviladge for us to observe these college workers and the high quality of their work ethics and excellent workmanship. We are thankful we made the decision to have them paint our house.

I was introduced to this company by a knock on the door. Thinking he was soliciting donations, I was prepared to send the young man away until he mentioned painting and it occurred to me I had a job I'd been putting off for some time. Dylan did a good job of explaining their business and business processes to me. He come back a week or so later by appointment to provide an estimate. After we selected College Works to do the job, he came back again for a consultation, to review paint quality and color selections with us and to take a down payment. We scheduled a time frame for the the work and they were here within the time frame they promised, despite rainy weather that had them running behind on other jobs. In preparation for painting the next day, they staged some materials at our home the day before. The crew showed up early and stayed late to get the job done in one day. They did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves. The dormers were quite high on a fairly steep roof and they were fearless in getting up on the roof, tying off for fall protection and getting the work done. It looks great from the ground and there's no way i'm getting up there to get a closer look. Actually, they even took pictures for me to get a "closer look" without leaving the ground. Overall we are very satisfied in our dealings with College Works Painting - Minnesota.
Description of Work: Exterior painting. They prepped and painted 4 roof dormers including siding, and 2 trim colors. They also painted 2 stair handrails, one metal and one wood.

Contact and planning prior to job was excellent. Job was sloppy and smeary with brush hairs and paint gobs visible on door. Hardware was painted which it wasn't prior to job. When we called, the results were viewed and then we were told the job would be redone. The redo was acceptable but not professional. The redo job was never checked by the boss. There is still paint on the hardware and rubber seal around the door. Clean up was mediocre.

They came and sold the project and followed up with a design appointment to pick the stain color. Dylan followed up with phone calls and information to set-up the date and any prep work we needed. He went over our expectations before they came out to stain. They arrived when they said they would and looked professional. They worked hard and kept everything very neat and clean. Dylan came back after the job was completed to look at the work and repair any spots that were in question. Great Job!!!

It went very well. Dylan called ahead to let me know when he planned to do the work. He and his crew showed up when they said they would and did the work they promised. When Dylan could not find a replacement board for my deck because none of the local home improvement stores carried redwood, we came up with an alternative to satisfy our initial agreement.

Dylan Jones the contractor for College Works Painting offered to provide us with a free estimate for painting our home. It surely was in need so we took him up on this offer. He spent time developing his estimate and came back to our home to explain his business and what he would do and how he would go about the job of completing the work in painting our house. It seemed to be a reasonable estimate based on what we had paid to paint our house in the past. We asked when he could do the work and he gave us a range of dates as an estimate. We agreed to go ahead with the painting and he kept us apprised of his schedule and arrived when he said he would and competed the job within the time frame he projected. This was in spite of some inclement weather during the period he was at our home painting. The colors we had selected were matched perfectly and he and his crew went about their business in a very professional manner and were always courteous and polite in dealing with us. The crew worked diligently while they were here and cleaned up immaculately after their shift was done each day. I was especially impressed with the detail work they did to prepare the house properly for painting. We have had the house painted before and I have never seen such attention to detail in the past. I would highly recommend this business to anyone who needs exterior painting work and would happily choose them again if our house needs painting.
