After much time spent reviewing other tree trimming businesses on Angie's List, we chose Central Minnesota Tree Service for the work needing to be done in our backyard. After calling them to set up an estimate, due to our close proximity, Jim was able to stop by to complete the estimate within an hour of first contacting him. He arrived promptly on-time and walked the property with us as we explained what we would like to have done. We agreed to the estimate and scheduled a date of service a few weeks later. The entire crew arrived right on schedule and got to work early around 8:00 a.m. For the next four to five hours all hands worked hard, quickly and professionally trimming back dead branches and shaping trees in the backyard; from 40 year old large oaks, to smaller apple trees and lilacs. All work was completed professionally and in a timely manner. As they were finishing up and getting ready to leave we realized that we had forgot to mention wanting a quick trim to a small tree and bush in the front yard as well. They quickly and efficiently did these two items, with no extra charge over and above the original estimate. All tree limbs and miscellaneous tree debris were removed and both the backyard and the front lawn were left looking better than either had looked in years. We feel fortunate to have found such a great company and greatly appreciated the work ethic of all of their employees. Jim came out in September to give an estimate to trim the trees in my yard. He gave the estimate on the spot before he left. He said he would call to schedule it in October. He called back when we talked about and we scheduled a day and time. He showed up exactly on time, and we reviewed again what would be trimmed. He trimmed all the trees that we talked about, cleaned up all the branches and leaves, and they even swept the leaves off our deck. The amount due on the invoice that I received was exactly what the estimate was for.

I needed an oak tree removed for some driveway work. Even though they were fully booked, they managed to squeeze me in. They were out early on Monday and had the work finished quickly. The location of the oak caused me concern because it was close to my garage and my neighbor's fence. They took it down with no problems. This is the second time I have had them out within a two and half week period. I am very satisfied with their demeanor and performance.

Jim and his crew did an excellent job of trimming up a honey locust, maple, and several pine trees. They also took down a dead stub on a pine and ground-down a small stump that was right next to my house. They cleaned everything up and hauled away all the trimmings and chips.

They contacted me promptly to arrange and estimate. They came out for the scheduled time for the estimate. On the day of service, about five workers came and performed the work quickly and well. The cost of the work did not exceed the estimate.

At age 70, I haven't seen people work this hard since I worked on the N.P Railroad when I was a kid. Jim and his crew were unbelievably first class in every category. THEY GET A SIX STAR RATING ON A FIVE STAR SYSTEM

Arrived on time for estimate and for work. A crew of 4 people worked hard for 7 hours (minus a lunch break) to get the job done. Our trees were trimmed and the waste was hauled away. We also had one tree removed. It was an old oak tree that had 4 trunks. It was removed and the stumps were ground down. Care was used to avoid a nearby buried electical line and our buried lawn sprinkler line. All area were cleaned up very well. After they left I found that some of the remaining trunk/roots on the removed tree were too high resulting in not being able to grade that area so it would slope away from our garage. I called again and Jim came back and ground down all the trunk/root remains so now the grade slopes away from the garage. The return visit was done promptly and in a very professional manner. I am extremely happy with the quality of the work and their professionalism. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs trees trimmed or removed.

The experience was amazing. The appointment was for 8AM and the team showed up at 7:20. They were extremely organized - review the work that needed to be done, and then began the job prior to 8AM. They we extremely careful and took extra time when cutting large branches; instead of just dropping them anywhere, they made sure that they did not land in the garden or other areas where they could possibly do damage. When the actual trimming/pruning was done, I was amazed at the amount they cut off. The cleanup was outstanding. By the time the crew left, the backyard was spotless.

Had a great experience with this company. Was able to get an appointment right away and the initial consultation was very informative; we felt no pressure to use their service or to get more done then we needed to (in fact, we found out that we had to do less than we though we did). Service was performed quickly and efficiently, for a great price.

We had an A+ experience with Central Minnesota Tree Service. I left a message for Jim Friday morning asking if he happened to have an opening in his schedule to cut down our tree that same day. He called me back and said he was booked, but he could come out and give us an estimate that evening and then if we wanted to proceed he could do it Monday or Tuesday. When he came for the estimate, he was very professional and his prices were very reasonable. After he gave us the quote for taking care of the two trees, he offered to do some additonal items at no charge for other trees and even trim our hedges(!) We really felt like he was going the extra mile. Jim and his crew arrived right on time Monday morning and took care of everything very professionally and efficiently. I really appreciated the high quality equipment they used -- it made things go quickly and safely. I also appreciated that he is a certified arborist. We have a crab apple tree and he recommended waiting until after fall to trim it in order to protect it from disease. The total came to $750 + sales tax, which seemed very reasonable for all the work done and equipment used.

Jim and his crew did such an outstanding job that I felt inspired to write this review. His proposal for this work was a cost of $500 to both remove the storm-damaged poplar and raise the canopy of the river birch, and an additional $300 to remove the other poplar. We got two other bids--both from companies rated very highly on Angie's List--and this was the lowest. We shared our plans to have Central MN Tree Service do this work for us with our next-door neighbors, who had a dead poplar tree that needed to be removed, and they decided to have them remove their tree as well. The bid that they had gotten from another company to take down their one tree was higher than what it was going to cost us to have both of our poplars removed in addition to raising the canopy of the birch. They arrived promptly at the time they said they would. Jim clearly knew what he was doing and had both of our trees and our neighbor's tree down, hauled away, stumps ground, the lawn cleaned up, and their equipment packed up within a matter of a few hours. During that time they also raised the canopy of the birch. They had control of the tree limbs as they came down and were careful not to damage the perennials that were planted below the trees. They weren't aware that we had a drip irrigation system set up to water the perennials under the trees, and when their equipment damaged a small section of it, they told us about it right away and were ready to go buy a section of hose and adaptors to repair it until we told them it wasn't a big deal and we could do it easily ourselves since we already had the hose and knew the adaptors were only available at a store that wasn't close-by. He ended up taking $50 off of the price "for the trouble it would take" for us to repair it. When he gave me the bill, I noticed that he had only charged me $450 for the work instead of the agreed-upon $800, and when I pointed this out to him, he said that raising the canopy of the birch was free, plus he knew we would be having him come back in the fall to remove another two poplars and trim an oak. (He had made a proposal of $900 to do that work.) He is right about us hiring them for that work and any other tree work we need done in the future!!

Excellent. I had others quote the work both times. Jim was the least expensive. However, the service, professionlism and clean-up was second to none! He carefully dropped and removed everything. I highly recommend Jim and his team.

We called and requested their service. They came out promptly and surveyed the problem. Recommended what should be done and guided us away from some things that were not necessary to work on. The came promptly and finished the work in a morning. The team of 4 did very good work and cleaned up.

It went great! Jim came out on a monday to give me an estimate and they were here working hard the next morning. They did a great job and clean up was exceptional! I will use them again for sure. Thanks Jim!

Easy experience, estimate was within my expectations.

ll We had three large old swamp or black willow trees that were constantly shedding branches and providing no shaded whatsoever. Jim gave us a bid for $1200 in late March, suggested we wait a few weeks to allow the lawn to dry out. He and his crew came out in late April and removed the trees, ground up the stumps, and leveled the area, all in about three hours. Very professional and with great equipment. They cleaned up so well that you couldn't even tell they were here, except that the trees were gone, of course. A fine company.

It was very easy to schedule an appointment with Jim. He agreed to come over to evaluate the work in the late afternoon which was very convenient for us. He immediately impressed us with his professionalism and knowledge of the trees. Thus, he immediately told us that red oaks should be trimmed only after cold weather sets in, which many other companies didn't tell us. We showed to Jim what we would like to accomplish. After that he spent significant amount of time looking things over on his own, and finished when it was already dark outside. The presented estimate was fair considering the amount of work to be done. Jim provided us with a copy of the information sheet regarding his liability insurance and license. The work itself was done while we were away at work. When we came home, we found beatifully trimmed mature oak trees on our front yard. Both, front and back yard were free from debris. We enjoy the looks of our trees, and planning to contact Jim in the future for all our tree service needs.

They were prompt and professional. They sold their services without criticizing other tree service companies. They gave us a free estimate on the elm tree and some suggestions for other tree work as well.

The experience was good and I will use them again in the future.

This is the second time we've used Central Minnesota Tree. They always give us a very reasonable estimate compared to similar companies, and Jim is very easy to work with (and I especially appreciate that he himself shows up at all jobs with his crew). It's true that we spent a lot the last time we used this company, but as indicated above, they did a lot of work for us. They also pruned a very large box elder tree that was not part of the original estimate and did not charge us for that pruning. We feel we definitely get our money's worth from this company and will call them again in the future!

Their promptness really stands out to me. He came out on Sunday to give me an estimate then removed the tree the next day. I will use them again in the future.

The crew was on time, very polite and well organized, did exactly what had discussed when estimate was given, I wanted the trees trimmed back a little further then what we talked about, because I don't plan on having them trimmed again, which they did do. They cleaned up the brush and limbs, took it all with them in a very timely manner. I was very pleased

They did a good job with the trimming and clean-up. Jim answered all of my questions regarding potential tree diseases. There was a little bit of a delay in performing the work after the initial estimate due to storms that were occurring at the time. It seems that their work is in demand.
