Carpet King does not have direct-hire employees for installation. They use between 14-20 subcontractors according to their manager. The installers I was assigned to did not do a job that met industry standards. I purchased a geometric carpet pattern. The installers I had did not have enough experience to know to center the pattern. They also folded my carpeting in transit. This left my carpeting with fold lines that occur all over the material. When trying to work with Carpet King to have the installation fixed, I ran into a subcontractor that called me at 7:20am and said in the phone- " Ya up?". Not, hello I am calling from Carpet King.... Very unprofessional. I was unable to communicate with the installer as he spoke very limited English. This lead to calls with the home office and the determination to send another installer to see to the matter that also spoke little english. The saga continues. I still have carpeting that was very expensive, installed incorrect.

It didn't. We tried to purchase flooring there after being a quoted a price a week ago. We went in this AM and confirmed the pricing. There were issues with the computer and so were told we could leave and they could call later to confirm everything and get our CC#. Mark Gibson called back and hour later and left a message saying everything was all set and he was ready for my cc#. I called back almost immediately and had to leave a message. Three plus hours later I'd still not heard back, you'd think since they work on commission and this was a $1600/sale he'd follow up. I called again and got Mark who again asked for my cc#. When I told him I was not giving him that information until I saw the pricing he seemed surprised and said he'd email it to me. I still hadn't gotten it 40 minutes later (hello, follow up?) and so called again. He sent it and I did finally receive it. The price for the install was more than 30% what we'd been quoted. It was only when I called to question it that I was told of charges I'd not been informed of before. I feel like this was a scam and that they were ready to take complete and total advantage of me. I'm so glad I never gave them my credit card and will not be doing business with them. Funny, Mark said that his CEO would probably be willing to knock of 15%. When I spoke to someone at corporate he said they weren't willing to do a thing. What a racket.

I spent $4400 on carpet and other flooring in October of 2013 and I have nothing but Excellent Comments about the sales staff and manager at the store and their Excellent help with my purchase. My complaint and "F" rating above is for the Customer Service Department. The original installer had improperly installed metal threshold strips in two doorways but I had not complained right away due to much more pressing health issues & I didn't realize the carpet problem was going to get worse over time. I covered the problem with a throw rug to minimize the hazard. I finally stopped in at the store in February of 2015 with photo evidence of the improper installation. In one doorway the carpet was cut too short only in the middle of the doorway which loosened over time and metal sharp points stuck out and the other doorway had a metal strip with nails that were not even secured to the floor and kept popping up. I realized that I finally had to get this fixed because we were stepping on the nails. I was told by a representative at the store to call the Carpet King customer service person, named Guliano and explain to him what was wrong. Guliano told me that since I had not called within a year it would cost me something over $150. I told him that the Carpet King website declares a "LIFETIME WARRANTY" as follows: Quote:"Should further installation service attributable to the original installation of your flooring be required during the life of your floors, Carpet King will return and provide that service at no cost to you for the life of the floor". Guliano's response to me was that it would not be fixed at no cost because I did not call them within one year. He also told me I would have had to pay for the Lifetime Warranty at the time I ordered the carpet which came as a surprise to me. I was not told at the time of purchase that a Lifetime Warranty was available for a fee. Why would anyone have to pay more money to pay for a warranty to cure a defective installation? Guliano then offered to do the work for $125 and needed payment in advance or they would not repair the defects. Since I needed to get it fixed I agreed to pay, but am not happy about it. It is not about the money. It is about my inability to trust the Company and their Customer Service Department to stand behind their own stated Warranty. I would not purchase from this Company again for that reason.
Description of Work: I want to first be clear that my complaint is not with the sales or management staff at the Carpet King location. The Carpet King service professional that came in Feb. of 2015 properly re-installed new metal threshold strips of the carpet in two doorways after the Carpet King installer failed to do so at the time of the original carpet installation. The installer who was to repair the threshold called me first and brought along wider metal strips when I told him that the carpet had been cut too short in the middle of the door and it could probably be easily fixed with a different strip. The excellent ratings above were for the person who came to my house to fix the problem. on 2/25/15. My "F" rating above pertains to GULIANO (SPELLING) WHO FAILED TO LIVE UP TO THE WARRANT TERMS AS CITED ON THE COMPANY'S WEBSITE.

Overall, it went well. The installer was awesome. He was on time, efficient, clean and did an amazing job. The sales side of it was okay. They were informative about their products but forgot to call me when the carpet was in stock and ready to be installed. I called to follow up and the guy answering said he was surprised we didn?t get a call because it had been there for about a week. The lady that sold us the carpet immediately called back and apologized. However, I would use them again because the installer was that good.

In store experience was excellent. Problem was with installer who did a hurried installation resulting in the runner being installed crookedly up the stairs. When it was pointed out to him during the install, he pulled up the final two steps and reinstalled and left. The problem remained so I called Carpet King asking for someone else to come out and do it right. They insisted on using the same person. "We use sub contractors and we always have to give them a chance to make the repair first." Person came out and pulled the entire runner and reinstalled and left. Now it was nice and straight, but there was a gap right at the top of the stairs because it had been cut to fit when it was installed crookedly before. Called them back a third time and we fortunately had enough extra material that they could cut and splice in the last piece. In the end, it is great, but we three trips to make it that way is inexcusable.

The price listed includes the carpet purchased plus the installation costs. The work was done well and professionally. No problems in any way, except for a scheduling issue with the subcontractor who arranges the delivery and installation crews. We had to wait an extra day due to their over-booking the workers. The was only a problem because I had taken the day off to stay home, when they ended up coming the next day instead.

Excellent. We received good advice and assistance from personnel at Carpet King regarding their products. Excellent, prompt service. I needed carpet installed the next day, and sure enough they did it! The sales rep, Michael, drew up a detailed price chart of carpet based on the quality and price and I chose what I wanted. He then immediately followed me over to the property and measured the room. The installers arrived promptly the next morning and installed the carpet within a little over an hour. All were polite and professional. I was very pleased.

Ordering carpet at the store was easy. Installation crew was terrible!! When they arrived, they dropped my new pad and carpet on the street. When I told them that they shouldn't put it on the street, then they brought in the house along with leaves and dirt. After installation I asked if they were going to vacuum and told me their vacuum was broken. I spent hours vacuuming. After telling the salesperson and customer rep about my experience they just offered to send someone out to vacuum a week later. No discounts, no money back. Do not use this company.

After 3 months and 3 different install attempts, the hardwood flooring was finally installed properly. Countless phone calls, emails. Had to bring in an independent wood flooring inspector who determined that they installed the floor improperly. I had to take it upon myself to contact the manufacturer to determine how to properly install. After all the months and hours of hassle, the floor was eventually installed properly....but Carpet King offered no discount or anything (gift card or something) for all the mess. Bottom line.....DON'T BUY HARDWOOD FLOORING FROM A STORE WITH CARPET IN ITS NAME.

The sales process was very good. I had a budget and they were very mindful of staying within my budget. They made good suggestions about what would be best for me based on my budget. They negotiated with me about tearing out the carpet for free and they reduced the cost of the installation. The installation process went great; they were professional and clean. They worked pretty quickly and they were able to work with my schedule which was good. I haven't seen any problems with the carpet or the laminate; they both were installed properly. When I ordered my carpet, I walked into the showroom in St. Paul and the salesperson was very nice. They had a good sale going on for carpet so I decided to order the carpet then. When I came back in I mentioned to the salesman I was thinking about laminate in another room and they had a sale on oak laminate as well. I liked the price so I decided to go for it. They came out to measure and it turned out my measurements were extremely off. I was guessing it was going to be 700 square feet for the carpet and it was 900 square feet. It was a significant increase in price. I had wanted to put laminate in my living room instead of carpet but I thought I'd never be able to afford it. It turns out they sold me the laminate below cost and it actually cost me less to put laminate in than it would have cost to put carpet in. It would have been a $4000 job, but we configured it with laminate and it turned out to be $3000. They helped me save money which was great. The carpet comes with a one year warranty and the laminate comes with a five year warranty.

We were not the ideal customers, we didn't know what we wanted and then took a long time to make up our minds! Carpet King had a wide selection of carpeting and other flooring options, and everyone we talked to there was able to provide detailed information about the differences without making us feel pushed to "buy today." The real story here is the outstanding service provided by Michael throughout, especially when we uncovered a difficult hardwood/subfloor combination and we had to decide whether/how that could be salvaged. We got second opinions from several flooring sources, and Michael's initial recommendation was proven right. As an experienced carpet installer himself, his knowledge was invaluable. He was patient, never pushy, and was willing to follow up even on his days off. Once we decided on carpet, he worked through the measurements twice and was able to save us $300 by changing where the seams/cuts were. Then Murphy's law occurred--we had company coming into town and we asked if they could expedite the installation. They did. Their installers were on-time, very efficient and cheerful despite record-breaking heat, and did a great job with the install and cleanup. We would not hesitate to recommend this place and will definitely make it our first stop when we have other flooring needs..

Marty told me she could give me the binding for free, but might need to charge me to cut the two pieces, but she'd have to check with her boss. I told her I wasn't interested in the carpet if I had to pay to cut it. She said well, you do have to pay to cut it. I asked her if she needed to check on that charge or not. She then said she did. She got back to me later and told me that they didn't charge to cut, but they would need to charge me to bind both pieces. Since she had earlier told me that binding for both pieces was free, I thought this was just another way to make up the charge since she knew I wasn't going to pay to cut the pieces. By that point I didn't care any longer and just wanted to get the carpet. They seem to be a bit sleazy.
Description of Work: Bought a carpet remnant and had it cut and bound.
