They were fantastic. After not being able to reach an electrician we've used in the past, I called Brothers Electric which is located close to me. They were at my home within hours, found the problem quickly and repaired it, and when I pointed out the fact that we needed a new outlet for our garage door opener and was wondering what it would cost, they were able to do it within the same hour of the repair...so we got if for very little added cost (other than the supplies)! We are thrilled with their service, professionalism, and quick response time and would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: The electricity to our garage went out, so they found the loose wires, repaired it, and spontaneously added a new outlet for our garage door opener at our request...all in the one-hour minimum payment timeframe.

I was able to set up the estimating appointment easily by phone, and Kevin arrived on time. He listened carefully to what I had in mind, asked some good questions, and made some suggestions about how the work might best be accomplished. I felt very comfortable talking with him about the project and appreciated that he took time to listen to my ideas and to explain his thoughts on the project. A detailed estimate arrived by e-mail in less than 24 hours. All the proposals I received for this project were similar in estimated cost. I ended up selecting a different company to do this work, but it was a very tough call and I fully imagine that had I selected Brothers Electric for the work, they would have done a fine job and I would have been happy with the result.

Kevin was very helpful from the beginning. Gave me an honest price and was on time for the estimates, follwed up with me and took care of all of my concerns. The guys installed all of the lights exactly where we wanted them and made us a part of the whole process, asking us for our input and communicated very well with us throughout the whole process. They were on time, and clean. I didn't realize that the sheetrockers would need the lights down to do their job, so Kevin offered to come back out free of charge (saving us hundreds)and take the lights down and put them back up for us. Very satisfied with our experience.

I don't know if their prices were high or not - but I had to spend more than I had expected to in order to bring the electrical wiring up to code.
Description of Work: They installed a new electrical panel to add a circuit for a new microwave, and wired under-cabinet lights for my new cabinets for a kitchen remodeling project. They also reinstalled several outlets that were incorrectly wired by another electrician who was not able to finish the job.

Description of Work: I had such a positive experience with Brother's Electric. A fuse blew in my house and shut my fridge down. I have medication in there that needs to stay cold and it was an emergency. They came out fast and spent a long time tracing the problem. I had to go to work. He fixed it, left me a note, and they sent an invoice.

I was shopping around for providers who could get out to my house to fix my circuit sooner rather than later (not very helpful having a fridge without power). Brothers hours are not the best for whatever reason, but if you reach them when they are on staff (which I did), they seem very reliable, fast and responsive. I called around 3/3:30 (near the end of their business day), and they sent someone over right away. Brothers fixed my circuit when I told them if they did it today I would pay them to do it. On top of it, the matched the price I wanted (100.00), which would have been the price of another company who couldn't come until much later. They adjusted the price down from 150.00, and all-around got the problem fixed fast (within 1 hour of call). Not sure if I got lucky because it was the end of the day and someone was in my area, but my experience with them was definitely a good one. Would recommend.

[member name removed], thank you for your comments. It sounds like it worked out great for us to be able to send an electrician right away, that doesn't always happen but sometimes it works out that way. We try to get people in as soon as possible, especially when they are having trouble. Thank you for the review.

See comments above about Brothers' failure to return calls.
Description of Work: Nothing. On my recommendation, based on past good service from Brothers, my daughter has attempted multiple times (for 2 different jobs) to set up service with Brothers. None of her calls were returned. This is why the rating is an F, despite the fact that prior service was totally good. It is just unacceptable to not return calls. It is totally understandable (and lucky) to have more business than you can handle, but it is not good customer service (nor does it inspire confidence), when calls go unanswered.

[member name removed], I am wondering if your daughter has left voice mails or spoken with somebody in our office? The reason I am asking is because if she spoke with somebody in the office an appointment should have been scheduled at that time, there would not have been a reason for a call back. If she has left voicemails then that concerns me that we may not be getting all of our messages? We pride ourselves on returning all voicemails within 24 business hours and if your daughter did not receive a call back from us that is completely unacceptable. If you would be willing to reach out to me and let me know, then I can make figure out why her needs are not being met and I can do whatever I can to remedy this in the future. I deeply apologize this has happened, and if you are willing, with your help we can make improvements to better ourselves. I truly appreciate your comments, it helps to make us a better company for our customers. Amy

The guys were very professional and very good at what they do. They explained everything they were going to do (again) and they asked a lot of questions while on site. They did an excellent job and I would hire them again. We called 5 of the top electrical companies on Angie's list and this was the best one for the job. They did what other companies either didn't want to do, or didn't know how to do. I'm so happy we were able to have someone come out and do this for us.

[member name removed], I am happy that you were pleased with the service you received. Just wanted to make a note that it is not always so easy to locate a problem and sometimes further investigation is necessary to find it; also it is not always a quick repair. In this instance it was a fairly quick find, and a fairly quick repair and that was awesome! Thanks for the comments, we truly appreciate them!

I completely regret hiring them because it cost $85 to cap the light even with the Angie's List coupon which is just asinine and I feel completely scammed. I for sure could've done this work myself for free. Plus, they didn't remove their shoes or put on slip-on boot covers before tromping all over my new carpet. Not to mention one of them didn't bother to put a comb through his hair and literally looked like he just woke up. My recommendation is to choose someone else or absolutely insist on getting a quote before allowing them to start on even the smallest of I jobs and insist on them removing their dirty boots (something that should not be needed, but I suppose if you don't comb your hair you probably don't care about someone else's new carpet. I have serious regrets about using Brothers and I'm irritated for being completely taken advantage of. Don't waste your money!
Description of Work: 2 electricians came to install a 220 volt dryer outlet and cap off a light fixture in my new house. The dryer outlet, I learned when they arrived was going to cost about the price of a new gas dryer so I declined that. The only actual work they did was cap a light fixture.

I appreciate the fact that you posted about your experience, and am apologetic that you didn't have a nice experience. It appears that you called and requested for us to install a dryer outlet, change out a light fixture and cap off a light fixture. When the electricians got there they told you what they thought it would take to install the dryer outlet and you chose not to do the work based on the information they gave you, which was your choice. We do have a 1 hour minimum for any call we go on and it appears that our two man crew only charged you our one man rate, which is $100 instead of $150 and hour. Plus they gave you the Angie's List coupon discount which technically is only good if the bill is over $150. It appears our electricians did everything possible to make you happy with your experience and it was to no avail. My suggestion for the future would to be to request a free estimate (which is a service our company provides) and then it will cost them nothing to find out what a project will cost. In this case the electricians did change out your light fixture and cap off your other fixture per your request and charged you accordingly, plus gave you 2 discounts to help with the billing that you were technically not entitled to. As far as you attacking the appearance of the electricians I can’t understand your complaint as all of our electricians are very professional in their demeanor as well as appearance and I actually saw these electricians prior to coming to your home and I didn't see anything wrong in their appearance. The electricians also have rubber soled boot protectors that they usually wear when entering a home, I can’t speak to the project they did for you so I am unsure why they didn't wear them on that day but I will speak with them to ensure this doesn't happen again. All of our electricians have been with our company for several years, including our apprentices. They do what they can to ensure our customers happiness and confidence in the work they do. I appreciate your comments because it helps us to know where we can improve.

Brothers Electric was professional and responsive. Based on the extensive amount of work we needed during a kitchen remodel project, Brother's was able to accurately give us a very fair estimate. We decided to work with them because they were knowledgeable as well as fair in their pricing. Our home was not wired for current electrical code and Brothers brought our house up to code by installing a new panel, new outlets, and new switches throughout our home, although work was primarily done in the kitchen. Since this was an extensive job, we expected mess and extra holes in the wall--Brothers was careful and precise--we didn't have more holes than we expected. The electricians were polite and personable. They asked questions to make sure everything was being completed the way we intended. They were also knowledgeable about how and where to install the recessed lights, pendant lights, dimmer, and under cabinet lights we purchased through them. We are very happy with our beautiful kitchen, its awesome lighting, and we are also ecstatic that we can now run more than one appliance without blowing the breaker! Thank you Brothers!

They weren't able to detect what the problem was with any certainty, and when I decided we should try replacing the circuit breaker (their recommendation) they didn't have one available and they tried to get one but they couldn't get one from any nearby store. They seemed very nice, professional and knowledgeable but charged me $190.00! They had received a full explanation of the problem ahead of time, so they could have done most of their diagnosis from that history and from questioning me. Instead I was charged for 1+ hours of service and left without much more info than I had prior to their coming. I still don't know if it's my motor triggering the circuit breaker or the circuit breaker itself. They should have known before they came that the circuit breaker may need to be replaced and they should have asked for info on it and they should have looked up where they could get one ahead of time. Now if I replace the circuit breaker I'm going to have to pay for another service visit. They should be aware of trying to give the customer some value for the money they charge.

[member name removed], I do understand your concerns surrounding our visit to your home. You contacted me originally via email, I consulted a couple of the electricians here and allowed them to read the email. From what you wrote in your email we thought the pump was going to be bad. You stated in your email that your irrigation company had an electrician out, you had a second electrician out and then you were contacting us for a professional opinion. Unfortunately sometime with electrical, and things with motors and pumps and things such as your pond has, the fix can only be found through trial and error. It is helpful for a company (the same company) to have the opportunity to come back out if their repair does't work, then they can move to the next item they would try. Repairs can sometime be tricky when it comes to electricity. My recommendation would to be find an electrician (or any contractor that you may be working with) that you trust and stick with them. I am sorry you were unhappy with the visit, but it does sound like the recommendation of the electrician was to change the breaker and possibly at first you didn't want to do that and then you decided later to do this. With the thousands of different panel brands, types of breakers and sizes of breakers it would have almost been impossible for us to anticipate what type/brand/size of breaker you would have needed and have it with us. We generally carry the most common types on our service trucks. We appreciate your comments, and hope you have a better experience in the future.

The electrician quickly took down both fixtures and got one installed. The 2nd one didn't fit, so he had to take down the installed one to also switch the ceiling mounts (which even I thought would be the same, since the fixtures were made by the same company). Even after doing that, he still had trouble with the 2nd one, because its screw holes wouldn't line up correctly. (Not sure why, since it had just come down and hadn't been dropped or anything.) He finally got it installed. Then he installed a new hard-wired smoke alarm. Total time: 2-1/4 hours. But it seems like close to half of that was trying to get the 2nd fixture in. The estimate had been 2 hours, so this wasn't much beyond what I was expecting. In fact, with my Anglie's List coupon, it was a bit cheaper than estimated. Other notes: A few weeks earlier, I had made a 1 pm appointment. I called the company at 8:10 am to verify that. At 8:50, the electrician called asking if he could come over in 30 minutes, because his schedule was free. That didn't work for me, so he said he'd see me at 1. Instead, he called at 1 to say he was just leaving another appt, which made him arrive here 30 minutes late. I appreciate that the business tries to accommodate people and keep their workers busy, so I'm willing to accept that type of minor delay. (It's why I always keep potential delays in mind whenever I schedule contractors.) I was pleased to see he brought his tools, including his ladder, with him (instead of wasting time arriving at the door without them and going back to truck--which has happened with other companies). Overall, I'm pleased with the service, and I'll use Brothers Electric again if I need more electrical work.

[member name removed], Thank you for the wonderful comments. I know sometimes things take a little longer than we anticipate, and the funny thing is that two exact lights ( or outlets or switches) can be totally differently installed. This may explain why this took so long for the second light fixture. I spoke with the electrician on this and it appears the light fixtures were the same, but the boxes were different and when the second light was installed on the box it was rigged somehow so the holes for the screws didn't exactly line up. He did the best he could to install it correctly. We appreciate you comments because it helps us know where we can improve our business. It sounds like maybe this electrician could have communicated a little better with you throughout the project. Thank you, we truly appreciate your business.

Zach and Jordan arrived on time and walked through everything to ensure they understood what I wanted. They got to work right away, asked questions along the way if they needed to, and were very polite. At one point they had to leave for lunch and to get some additional parts and they let me know where they were going and that they'd be back in a certain amount of time, which they were. Considering all of the work that had to be done, I thought they were very speedy. Once they were done, Zach walked me through all of their work and let me check it out to make sure everything was in order. I was very happy with their service and pricing and will hire Brothers for additional work in the future.

This is my first time using Angie's List. They were prompt, friendly, efficient, and professional. I was unusually lucky to get next-day service because they had a cancellation. I was a little nervous to get the bill at the end because I had no idea what to expect but it was very good. They collected all the debris after the job and took it with them. They also offered to sweep up the sand/dust from the drilling, but I said it wasn't necessary. They did great work fast. I would definitely use them again.

The electricians arrived on time to replace the mast that was bent due to storm damage. When they evaluated it, I was told that they would have to replace the box and tubing in order to comply with code. I understood that and appreciated them being honest. It was also determined I had to have the ground wire re-done in order to be at code as well. The did the job and it looks good, but my issues were this: 1) I was quoted a price and when it came time to pay, the actual was much higher. I know it had to get done, but I would have appreciated a heads up and explanation as to why we were not going to hit that target. 2) They were fairly sloppy - plantings were trampled and none of the work sites were cleaned up. there was debris around my electical box (and on the washer underneath). I have also found cut pieces of copper wire all over the backyard. Not only a hassle if I were to step on it but also dangerous when I mow. 3) The new ground wire that was put in is exposed outside. I don't know if that is an issue or not, but the fact that there is an exposed copper wire in the flower bed in back of the house is disconcerning. Overall, I am very disappointed with the experience especially since they appeared to be so highly rated on Angies List. I understand that they are very busy because of the storm damage, but that should cause a compromise in their professional behavior.

Sometimes we try to give customers approximate pricing over the phone with the explanation if something is different than they have described the pricing will be different. This customer states that originally there wasn't going to be a meter socket change originally but due to code issues it had to be replaced, that is not something we would have been able to know when trying to give pricing over the phone. We tried our best to work with our customers during the storm damage to ease their minds, we worked with over 200 customers in a 2 week span. Our guys worked round the clock to try to get people their power back on, and our office people worked equally as hard to ensure all customers were responded to, permits pulled and to keep the guys going. We appreciate your comments and we know that during times of devastation like our community experienced that things do not always go according to plan. We will try to give out better information to the customers during these times, however, it does appear the discrepancy was not actually the information Brothers Electric provided to you but more that the code issues were necessary to be dealt with at that time.
