+ -1 moreI called this company because of their high ratings on Angies list; however, when I called them the first gentleman I talked with put me on hold half way through my explanation of what work I wanted done. 2 1/2 minutes later another man got on the phone (and said the other man was on the phone with another customer) and I had to start all over explaining what work I wanted done. When I got done explaining what I wanted done I ask the question (to confirm what I already knew) do you work on Saturdays. The man I was talking with became very irate stating "I never work Saturdays and never will". At that point in time I thanked him for his time and hung up. This person seemed to have an attitude. I don't want to do business with people like that.

+ -1 moreThis electrician was also professional, but did not provide much detail or explanation for our specific questions. He looked at our wiring briefly, and said we shouldn't worry about it. He stated that as long as the insulation around the light was good, we shouldn't worry about the safety of the older wiring. He did not bring up any concerns regarding our circuit box. He did provide us an estimate for work in the kitchen, fixing the light, and fixing an ungrounded circuit. I did ask about the possibility of completely replacing the older wiring upstairs and he said we didn't want to do that and did not offer us a cost estimate for this work. I suspect if I would have known more about electrical matters and knew the right questions to ask, this gentleman could have answered our questions, but he did not volunteer much information, nor probe to find out if there was more to our concerns.
Description of Work: We recently had three electrical estimates done to gauge the safety of some of our wiring as well as the cost of replacing some of the wiring. A light above our kitchen sink came loose and fell. We noticed the wiring connected to this light was old and cracked and we were concerned. We called three companies to get estimates and opinions. These companies were: Sprinter Electrical Services, Brothers Electric Co. and Anderson Electric Co.

+ -1 morePrompt, on time. Pulling cable is never a sure thing in an old house, but they managed to get the job done. The quality of the work was very acceptable. Two electricians to pull cable made it expensive, but a necessary expense. My only suggestion to them is that they left a bit of a mess for me to clean up--mostly handprints on the ceiling. However, the job was finished as promised, and I am very pleased with it.

+ -1 moreThe electrician was prompt and respected my wanting the project to be as neat as possible. He worked out a solution in a tight space. He used tools I supplied when removing old plaster from my lathe and plaster wall, made a clean cut. He did some clean up, but did leave some things behind. I do not know how to judge price, because I got just a phone estimate and went with Brothers. With the coupon($15 off), it was a bit over the initial estimate($200). My dryer will be delivered next week. I expect no problems.

When the work was completed he offered to clean up, but said since he was "on the clock" I had the option of tidying up myself (which I appreciated). He offered to answer any questions I might have, including any about the materials used. He deducted the Angie's List coupon that I submitted, (although I couldn't see from the bill just where it was applied).
Description of Work: Replaced light fixture in bathroom, replaced outdoor outlet, replaced switch for outdoor light, attempted to get old floodlight fixture to operate on auto setting (unsuccessful, needed new fixture. I opted to get a new one at another time), added a rheostat for dining room chandelier, installed fluorescent fixture in basement, converted a wall switch to an outlet in basement, wired and installed a new outlet in basement and added a breaker for computer.

Description of Work: I lost power on my main floor due to accidently getting water in an outlet. The Bros Electric sent someone over on my timeframe which was over my lunch hour. It was finished and I was back at work within 90 minutes. The price seemed fair and I got an Angie Discount of$15.00. Great experience and I even got an estimate on 2 ceiling fans I'm thinking of installing.

+ -1 moreI'm very pleased. Estimator showed up exactly on time. He told me I didn't need some of the rewire work I thought I did, showed me how to do some things myself which saved me some $$. He was very thorough in clarifying the work, made recommendations as we discussed the job and explained why he was recommending certain things. Actual workmen (2)showed up 30 minutes late but not a huge deal. Work was done quickly and professionally. They cleaned up after themselves. I've got no complaints and would certainly use Brothers again.
Description of Work: I wanted an estimate on updating some 1927 wiring for 2 ceiling light fixtures, installing 2 new outlets, adding some circuits for a sump pump and my furnace with an auxiliary panel, and wire an upstairs addition. Ended up not doing the upstairs work due to other circumstances not related to the bid.

+ -1 moreTheir responsiveness was great and the estimator showed up right on time. The estimate seemed very high, but the biggest problem was that it wasn't itemized. We have about 10 things that need to be done, and I told the estimator we were only thinking about some of the work, and one of the things was definitely something associated with a larger project to be done later. Without an itemized estimate, I have no way of knowing the price of the things we actually need to have done now.

+ -1 moreThe job was labor intensive and involved.I would not have known about the problems if Brothers had not checked it all out so thoroughly.
Description of Work: I purchased an older home this year that had some maintenance issues to be addressed, I also had an inspection and information the sellers disclosure that factored in when I made my decision. Several major issues have come up in a very short period of time. I planned a landscaping project to fix grading,flooding and dead sod issues and wanted a stake with a gfi outlet removed from the yard where the work was planned. When Brothers came to do the work they found indoor wire was used , it was laid under the sod and deck and not buried.gfi's between house and garage were also not wired correctly,work had not been done to code as requested in my purchase agreement. Brothers trenched and buried a new line and corrected the problems the same day with a great crew. I was disappointed and upset at my inspector and having been deceived by the previous owner due to the additional cost of this seemingly small project. Thank you Brothers for fixing the problem and making it 'correct''!

+ -1 moreVery polite, but in the end, after the cost of the first visit, and the need for a drywall person, not such a great experience. I should add though that I live in an old house and the ceiling is made of plaster. However, the plumber did not do as much damage to the ceiling as the electrician.
Description of Work: I called Brothers to install two ceiling lights. Upon removing the existing fixtures, it was discovered that I had a gas pipe in each of the areas. I was told I would need to call a plumber to deal with the gas lights. For less than ten minutes of work, I was charged $85. After the plumber came and dealt with the gas lines in the ceiling, I called Brother Electric to install the lights. One of the two electricians that were there (one was an apprentice) left a huge hole in my ceiling where the fixture now was. Now, I have to call a drywall person to fix it.

+ -1 moreI had to replace 2 outlets with GFI's before I sold my condo (inspection). I had 2 sets of friends (all of them very knowledgeable about electrical wiring) come & wire them. None of them could get the job done, due to the screwy wiring set-up. The 2 guys from Brothers Electric were able to complete the job in less than half an hour & knew exactly all of the changes to make. They were a great help.

Description of Work: Fixed a wire that was missing a "neutral" setting. Half of the electricity was out in my house. Claimed whoever did electrical work prior, did not tighten the wire enough.

Not only were they able to schedule me within 24 hrs. of my call, they arrived on time, consulted with me throughout the process, made excellent suggestions and worked efficiently and courteously. They saved every circle of my ceiling that was drilled out, so that they could be put back into place when the ceiling was re-plastered. Upon completion, their clean-up was excellent. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I contracted the company to move a ceiling fan to a new location and also to add an additional ceiling light fixture in my bedroom. The job involved drilling through my ceiling and running the electrical wires through several floor joists above in order to connect to the wall switch. This was done for both fixtures. Upon their recommendation, rather than attempt to get wiring through a header, a new light switch for the new ceiling fixture was also added.
