Had a ceiling fan in my kitchen installed after finding a mess the previous owners left. The box had been hooked up with nails and was a mess. After realizing I needed help, I called Brothers. Got an appointment 2 days later. Showed up right on time. They sent 2 electricians who were very nice and answered all my questions. While at my house I asked if they would changed 2 outlets, they did. They also fixed my switch in my kitchen as it was upside down. They were very fast, on time, and very nice young men. I've used Brothers before and will continue to use them again. I recommend them to anyone who needs electrical work done on their home!
Description of Work: Had a ceiling fan in my kitchen installed, 2 outlets changed.

They were great! They showed up within an hour after I called. I called initially because I thought there was a major electrical problem, but I just didn't know how to use the circuit breaker properly; duh! Rather than charging me $85 just for flipping the switch, they rewired a light fixture for $125 and put in light switches at the top and bottom of the stairs. They even took the fixture down and washed it in the sink before replacing it. I will definitely call them again when I need an electrician.
Description of Work: They rewired a light and put in switches at the top and bottom of the stairs so I can turn it on and off without having to pull the string.

It went great. This is a very reputable company - they did the work when they said, on time, and very professionally.
Description of Work: Put in an exhaust fan in our bathroom and a circuit breaker plug in next to the bathroom sink, which was not up to code before.

We had 2 people come out. The first person was not able to find the problem and had to leave after a couple of hours for a previous appointment. I called back to request a different person. I thought that maybe someone else had an idea that the first guy did not. The problem was quickly found since much of the problem solving was done by the first visit. The fix was easy and should have been found during the first visit. The person that came out for the second visit was great. He gave us a break on the charges since it required 2 visits and it probably should not have. Both electricians were professional and seemed like they knew what they were doing. The second person was very helpful. I would easily recommend this company to others. When I called to make the first appt, the person at Brothers asked me if I had tried a list of things first. He said we could fix it ourselves and save money if it was one of these items. He didn't want to charge us for something like that.
Description of Work: Troubleshooting to find the problem - dead electrical spot in the house. All outlets, circuits and wiring needed to be checked 1 by 1. Problem was found in one outlet - wiring too short - this fixed the problem.

The house was very dusty and a mess afterwards but the electricians had informed us this would happen ahead of time and even got our approval/acknowledgment prior to starting work.

They called to ask if they could come early, which was great. They did a great job and an adequate clean up. A couple of unusual thing were that they asked me if I had a dust pan and then a bucket to carry out the old plaster. I thought they should have had their own clean up stuff. Also, I didn't realize until they were gone that they put in beige face-plates/outlets/phone jacks, even though they placed it directly next to a cable-inlet which was white. I was never asked what color I'd like. This actually seemed pretty silly of them.

They ran into unanticipated difficulties (not their fault), so it took more time than any of us planned. I had to replace some duct work to be up to code and they arranged for that work to be done as well, at a very reasonable cost. Even though it cost more than I anticipated, they were professional and did everything they could to minimize the cost.
Description of Work: I replaced two bathroom exhaust fans, including one that has a light and a heater in it.

Crew worked well, both at rough-in and finish steps. I appreciated that when they took smoke breaks they stood out by their truck and not near my door. Had a code issue with wiring the sauna. They came out and fixed it immediately at no additional charge. They worked without construction drawings. We had an idea drawing from an architect and everything was as we wanted it and to code.
Description of Work: Installed all wiring and fixtures for 700 sq ft basement finish, including bath; relocated wiring and fixtures for kitchen remodel.

Very positive experience! They were right on time and very efficient. Work was done exactly as I hoped it would be. Nice employees. A little bit expensive but definitely worth it - you get what you pay for.

He arrived on time. I told him what I had on my list and asked him to let me know if he saw anything else that needed attention. He did everything on the list and explained his work. He said he looked around and didn't see much else that needed attention. He had a few suggestions of updates I could make, gave me a ballpark price and told me to think about it for the future. Everything was clearly itemized on the bill, which was about what I expected. It was a happily normal service call.
Description of Work: I needed a power box for the dryer secured, some outlets updated to GFI and a disabled fixture replaced.

Bob came on the same day I called. He worked quickly and carefully: wallboard needed to be cut and he worked in small area and cleaned up afterwards. I had waved quote process and I was very happy with the modest amount of the final bill. He advised me how to treat the covered (former) outlet to meet code.
Description of Work: Moved 220 current outlet (to plug in stove) from one wall to adjoining wall in kitchen.

Two men arrived exactly on time. They installed the new fixture within twenty minutes. They made a small adjustment on the flickering light. They were polite, prompt and friendly. They suggested that, if I want to replace any more fixtures, I should do several at a time in order to save money! ($85 is the minimum charge and covers one hour).
Description of Work: They installed a new ceiling fixture in my kitchen. They checked out a different fixture that had been flickering on occasion.

Thirty minutes past the appointment, I called to ask why they were late. I talk to the scheduler, and she said a left a voice mail the night before to inform me the electrician will be 1 hour late. I never got a voice mail. I asked her what number they have on file and the number they have happens to be one digit off from my number. After I hung up with her, I called the number that she supposedly called and the phone rang forever. No voice mail ever came on. I now highly doubt that a voice mail was left at all. My suspicions were confirmed when I noticed the preprinted invoice had my correct number When the guys finally showed up, after being another thirty minutes late, they do not know that they were only scheduled to do one job (the original estimate had several jobs, but we just wanted to wire the dishwasher for now, I told the scheduler this when I called to make the appointment).

Excellent! The estimator fixed my kitchen light when he was there. The job was done according to the estimate and everything on the list was done (it was a long list of lots of small projects) in two days. Cleanup was generally good, but could use a little improvement there. They broke a bathroom light fixture, but replaced it the next day at no charge and were very forthcoming about it.
Description of Work: Replaced outlets; installed outlets; repaired ceiling fan/light fixtures; installed dedicated circuits for microwave, hairdryer, washer/dryer; installed new light switches; installed chandelier; adjusted second chandelier; installed outdoor motion detector light; moved a light switch.

I didn't find the person who answered the phone to be very courteous or helpful in explaining how they operated. He told me the rate for one man and the rate for two men, however did not explain how I would know how many I would need. He did explain that if it was necessary to fish wires it would take longer with one person. I was displeased with the fact that he didn't ask many clarifying questions about the job or provide any helpful guidance. I didn't feel like my inquiry into their service was very much appreciated.

When I called to make the appointment, they asked me to get my own parts, sending me to an electrical contractor, which I found unusual. In general, it went well. Brian and Zach were on time and called before they came. Originally we wanted to run the yard outlet from the garage, but the ground was too rocky to dig. I appreciated their knowledge in finding an area to run it from the house instead. However, in doing this, they tore up the rhubarb patch (and didn't mention it--we discovered it after they left). They also didn't do a very good job of cleaning up the basement--they moved some items and didn't put them back. They also drilled and left shavings on the floor and didn't clean it up. I chose not to get an estimate first, but the entire thing seemed to take longer than I expected it to. But again, that's my fault for not getting an estimate beforehand. The entire project took them about 4 hours. The work itself was well done and up to code for outdoor electrical work.
Description of Work: Installed an external outlet on the garage. Ran an electrical line from the house about 8 feet and installed an outlet in the yard.

Great! The two guys they sent out were on time, very professional and efficient in the use of their time. They made a thoughtful suggestion about replacing the box with one with more switches. I also appreciated that they explained what they were going to do and why. My only complaint was with my original call, I wish the scheduler would have volunteered some information (on the number of people to be sent out and the rate). As it was, I asked the questions and got answers.

Our kitchen overhead light more or less exploded one day. I thought I could just replace the fixture myself, but when I took down the old fixture I noticed that the wires were melted and charred, hence the call for professional help. Brothers scheduled us for 2 days after my phone call. Brian and Zack arrived at the appointed time. The problem with the fixture was lack of insulation, which destroyed the wires supplying the fixture, the fixture itself, and part of the ceiling. Zack cheerfully climbed up into the attic on a very hot day to get the job done. They worked efficiently together to rewire the box and install a ceiling fan. While they were there, we asked them also to replace our dining room light fixture with a fan/light combo, which they were happy to do. Next time I need electrical work done I will definitely call Brothers.

I'm curious how others get estimates. I don't think my situation of availability is unusual. If its a type of job that they don't typically do or if its not one they want I would rather have them tell me that up front then to not return calls when they say they will.
Description of Work: I emailed Brothers with a request to have someone come to give an estimate on heating our three-season porch and fixing some issues in the kitchen. I received a phone call the next day to set something up which was great. I don't work on Fridays and for Monday through Thursday either the morning or late afternoon work best for making arrangements for either myself or husband to be home. The caller told me the estimator doesn't work on Fridays and that he would have to have the estimator call me directly because they don't like it when they schedule something before 9:30 a.m. and after 3:30 p.m. The estimator never did call my husband, whose cell phone number I gave.

Denny had come out last week to give me a quote on some electrical work that I would like to have done to my home. He said that he would mail it out that week. I called today a week later and said that I still had not received my quote. They had to call me back once they found my quote. I then asked Denny if he could break apart part of the quote for just the cost of what it would be to put up ceiling fans and he was very short with me on the phone and it was like it was a big deal for him to do that. He said that he couldn't do that. He would have to re-figure my cost.
