Excellent work and response time. They were here within 45 minutes of my phone call.
Description of Work: ceiling light instillation shorted out the electricity upstairs. Repeated testing could not find the reason. Brothers came out and very professionally assessed the situation and determine that the new ceiling light was the cause, not the old electricity in my house. My partner who has wired whole houses and is proficiant at home repairs was elated to know he was not at fault for the situation. As an aside, the guys were also able to identify the reason my electric fireplace was not working and fixed that too!

We had issues with the motion detector coming on for no particular reason and not shutting off. After a couple of weeks, I shut the switch off in the garage because I was getting frustrated with the sensitivity of the light even though I made some range adjustments as indicated on the user manual). A few days ago, I flipped the switch on again to see if it would work and I heard a pop.Brothers came out today, determined that a wire inside had shorted out and replaced the fixture. Since it had been exactly 30 days, I asked if that might be covered by a warranty. We both agreed it was working when he installed it 30 days ago. Bob said he'd check with the boss. He called him and the boss offered a $25 discount on a bill of $130. I then asked if I could use the Angies List member coupon for $15 off any service and he said "no", not with the $25 discount. So, in effect, I received a $10 discount. As a loyal Angie's List customer and the fact that I've used Brothers before, I'm not pleased with their response.When we need electrical work again, I'll look for another provider.
Description of Work: I had Brothers out on January 6 to install a motion detector on the backside of our garage (Bob also installed a new light fixture in our pantry and replaced a bad electrical outlet in the bathroom).

On January 6th Brothers Electric installed a motion detector fixture on the back of the garage and replaced a light fixture in the pantry and an outlet in the bathroom.Brothers Electric was called back February 6th regarding the motion detector as not working properly. Brothers went and purchased a new motion detector to replace the one that was not working properly. Brothers Electric's policy on warranty work is usually 30 days on material we purchase, unfortunately in this situation the customer provided his own for the original work done. However we provided the customer with a discount of $25 on the return visit. Because we gave him this discount we did not allow him the additional Angie's List discount for the second visit. Brothers Electric appreciates all of their customers, especially those from Angie's List. We do what we can to provide excellent work at the lowest prices possible. Thanks for the comments!

The work went great. I was pleased with the speed of the work and the end result. I was able to schedule an appointment easily and they showed up right on time. Even though they ran into several complications, all the necessary work was done in a few hours.
Description of Work: Installed three GFI outlets in kitchen, and put in new circuit for stove and fridge and an extra outlet near the stove. This allowd for a microwave to be installed over the stove and safer outlets near the sink. Also installed two light fixtures, and fixed a faulty bathroom fan / light switch.

We had track lighting in our 1922 bedroom. It worked fine, but didn't match the decor of the rest of the house. We purchased a new light fixture which has three light sockets within a dome, removed the track lighting and began the process to install it. We immediately saw that our old wiring was only an inch long in a very shallow box in the ceiling and the new fixture had wiring for each socket. The project was beyond our expertise. I called Brothers Electric after finding them on Angie's list and getting expert advice from them in the recent past. Although they had computer problems and couldn't schedule an appointment at that time they called me back later in the day to do so. And, they scheduled it for the next afternoon. Bob was at my home at the scheduled appointment time. He took a look at the situation and within a half hour had completed the job properly, picked up the debris, and packed up. I used their Angie's list coupon which lowered the original cost by $15. As mentioned, I had also called Brothers Electric in October 2011 to move a dining room ceiling fixture. They promptly scheduled the appointment and arrived as scheduled. The electrician evaluated the situation and advised me that due to the existing wiring configuration, the project would involve quite a lot of work. I chose not to proceed. They did not charge me for coming out and providing that evaluation.
Description of Work: Installed a new light fixture which required adding wiring to the existing to be able to complete the job.

Very well. Called Brothers about 10:00 a.m., they came to our house by 1:00 p.m., completed the job by 3:00 p.m. Service was fast, friendly and professional. Everything was cleaned up nicely.

I live in Washington county which is in their service area according to their page on Angie's list. I told them I had a coupon for $15 off and no trip charge. They said they would have to charge me a trip fee since I live in Washington County. If you don't want to come to Washington County, take it off the list of serviced areas. Very annoying, frustrating, and shady.

I got them from Angies List. They did a fantastic job. I spent around $500 to $600 on that service. It was exactly what I wanted and they did exactly what they said they would. I asked for extra and they were very fair in charging it and frankly I would use them again.

I recently moved from Texas to Minnesota and I am relying on Angie's List to help me find companies for home improvements. I had ordered two light fixtures online to replace the outdated fixtures in the dining room and entry in my new home. My home has vaulted ceilings and the new fixtures had chains that were too short for my high ceilings. Bob from Brothers retrofitted parts from the old fixtures to the new fixtures and took the time to be sure that the fixtures were the right height for me. He adapted the new fixtures so they work perfectly in my new home. He even called me after he left to say that the new entry fixture could be seen through the entry window from the street. We had worked together to get the entry light properly aligned. His professionalism and thoughtfulness were greatly appreciated. I will be calling Brothers again for more lighting improvements.

Great from start to finish! Making the appoitment was a snap and the electrician came on time. He was very professional, honest, polite and knowledgeable. He was very helpful and didn't mind answering questions. He helped us with our breaker issue and stove issue. Price was great since they had no drive charge and I used the Angie's list coupon on top of it. I highly recommend them for honest professional service at reasonable price.

I have three homes and I use them all the time. I would rate them high overall. They were responsive. First thing why I chose them was because they were from Angie’s List and their prices were reasonable. The people I talked to explained what they were doing. They did their work. They did what they were supposed to do and they were straight forward. Everything is fine.

Motion lights that were present were no longer working. One was not going on at all and one was not going off at all. Ceiling fan light was not working properly. Service was scheduled quickly. We were told the electrician would arrive at 8:30 am; however, he did not arrive until 9:00 am. We did not receive a call to let us know he would be late. Electrician was personable, explained everything and was neat and cleaned up. He identified one electrical box that was not up to code and corrected this problem. He was at ease with our cats and dog.

We got four estimates and Brother's was very reasonably priced compared to the others (some estimates were much higher). Brother's also performed quality work. Brian and Zack who came out and did the work also took the time to stop and let us know about various choices we had. They made suggestions when they thought it would be helpful rather than just plowing through the job to get it done. They were communicative and courteous. All the staff at Brothers from the person who gave us the bid to the scheduler on the phone were responsive, prompt and reliable. I can not think of one thing bad to say! Great experience. Thanks Brothers. We will use you again.

Denny came out to give us an estimate. We talked through each project and I felt comfortable that they could handle the job. Denny emailed me an estimate. A few things that we discussed weren't listed so I called and Denny updated the estimate. We were able to schedule the work within a week of the final estimate. The work took two days. I feel good about the electrical work: wires were replaced when needed, each project was handled well, the guys asked when they weren't sure about receptacle placement or the length of the chandelier chain. On the down side, I wasn't given much warning about the amount of dust and debris installing the recessed lighting would create. When the electricians arrived on the first day, I asked them how much to clear in that room and they said as much as possible. I cleared what I could and covered the furniture with sheets. When the work was performed, the doorways to the room were not covered so our entire house, including the second floor, was covered in dust. After all the work was completed, the house was left really dirty, with bits of wire, pieces of plaster and lots of dust. In addition, our wood floors were damaged in several spots by their ladders, which dug into the floor, as no drop cloth or barrier was laid first. In another area of the house, wood shavings from drilling were left on the floor for us to clean up. We needed a shop vac, lots of dusting stuff , several hours and lots of elbow grease to return our home to it's original condition. I know there is usually some cleaning needed after contractors finish but this seemed excessive. Based on the electrical work alone, I would hire Brothers again but based on the aftermath, I would think twice.
Description of Work: Removed and disconnected wiring for 2 wall sconces. Installed 6 recessed lights with 3-way switch and dimmer. Replaced 4 existing light fixtures. Installed one light switch to control 2 existing chain-pull lights. Installed a receptacle. Rewired an existing receptacle. Removed and disconnected 2 receptacles.

The service started badly and went downhill from their. They were very friendly on the phone when I called about getting my microwave installed, and when I called to confirm they'd be there when arranged. The electrician, Bob, was rude when he called in the morning, and told me some of the materials I had were probably wrong and told me what he needed to have when he came. I told him to come at 1, because that was when I'd have the microwave there ready to be installed. Only when he arrived did he tell me that he did not install microwaves, and that noone at Brothers did that. When I asked how it might get done, he had no suggestions, and instead became irritated with my question and called his office, which offered no help. The electrician's attitude was poor and lacked communication even in explaining what he was doing. Since he was already onsite and already beginning work, I had him install electrical for the microwave and update 2 circuits on the kitchen counter that he said needed to be changed to be brought up to code, but I cut the assignment after that. The work that was done was adequate, but nowhere near what I needed, and a service orientation was non-existent. I will never use Brothers Electric again.
Description of Work: I have used Angie's List often for household services, and this is the first complaint I have registered. I called Brothers Electric to install a microwave oven above my range, which had a rangehood before, and make the electrical changes needed. I asked specifically when I called whether they installed microwaves, and they said Yes. I also decided to have the electrician replace some switches and plugs while they were here, since I need a new color as I update my kitchen. The electrician was rude on the phone before he came, and when he arrived he informed me that he did not install microwaves, would only do the electrical work and did not offer any recommendations or ideas on how I might get that work done. The final work done was to change the electric for the microwave and change two plugs, since he had already started work and I would be charged anyway, but I will not use them again.

We were very disappointed by the quality of work and the response. We had to talk to another electrician to have some stuff cleared up. I think their pricing was reasonable but the quality of work was subpar. They workman sat in the truck and smoked cigarettes a lot. I had a lot of other contractors here that day and they did not communicate with me or anybody else. They left some damage that I had to go back and repair. There is an outlet on the side of the house that was done incorrectly and I had to have it rewired. I initially had them come back to try to fix it and they repaired it wrong. I will not use them again in the future

I am sorry that you were unhappy with the work completed. I went back through our records and show this work was done for you in May of 2006, and that you called us back to fix the exterior gfi in Oct of 2006 which we did. We do warranty our work so it is unfortunate that you did not call us to let us know that the gfi was still not working, could have been a bad part from the manufacturer. If that was the case we would have come and replaced it at no cost to you based on our warranty. It is important when you are working with a company to make sure of what the warranty is in order to take advantage. Based on the fact that this report was filed 5 years after the work was done our warranty time is up. Thanks for the report, not sure what we could have done in this case except to maybe have followed up with the customer after the second visit.

Very satisfied customer! I have used Brothers Electric multiple times and they have always been prompt, professional, reasonably-priced, and I have been very satisfied with their quality work every time. For this job, I called on Wednesday for an appointment, they got me in on Friday morning. Brian (of Brothers Electric) was a bit late for the appointment (I've never had that happen with them before), but when he did arrive he was friendly, courteous, professional and thorough. He inspected desired outlet placement and existing electrical box, and explained details of the job to me. I was concerned about damage caused by drilling through my vintage brick exterior walls and I mentioned this to Brian - he was very careful and I was very happy to see that there ended-up being no unnecessary damage to the exterior bricks at all (other than the hole for the wire to come out). Ultimately, the outlets were placed in the locations I desired, the wiring was artfully hidden, the job was done cleanly, and (from what I can tell) is of high quality. Brian even had to battle an evil rose bush in one of the outlet locations and never complained - ha! I highly recommend this company to anyone seeking electrical work. --------------- Update on October 19, 2012 (One year later...) Recently discovered that one of the outlets installed last year had quit working. I called Brothers, scheduled an appointment, they fixed it in less than 10 minutes, and DIDN'T CHARGE ME FOR THE VISIT! (Even though I was slightly beyond the 1 year warranty period. ) Gotta love these guys! Thanks so much for the excellent service - again! (Oh, and I'm updating the Punctuality score from a B (last visit) to an A (today's visit) because B.E. called and asked if they could come early because they had an unexpected opening in the day...

It went great-- they were on-time and very efficient. The pricing was also very reasonable-- we are very happy with all the work and the wonderful service.
Description of Work: The electricians installed a new lighting fixture in the kitchen, repaired a stove overhead fixture and cabinet lights, and changed outdoor fixtures. They were on-time, friendly, worked hard, and did a great job! We are so happy to have all of these things changed/repaired, and what a great company (we've used them before and had the same great experience).
