This is the second time I have used Bratt Tree Service and they have done above expectation both times. Jon is a professional and knows what he is doing and they have all the equipment to do the job professionally and quickly. The tree was large and in a difficult spot. The tree had to be cut and each piece lifted up over my neighbors yard via a 38 ton crane. Jon arranged for the crane and worked with excel energy to have the power lines temporarily disconnected from my house and the neighbors. Everything was arranged by Bratt, they came when they said they would and got the job done quickly and were $3000.00 less then the highest bid. They were not the cheapest bid either but close. They worked with me through the city so it could go on my taxes to spread out the cost burden since it was a Dutch Elm issue. Since I had a good experience with them before they were easily my choice. My neighbor has a beautiful yard and spends nearly every free moment working in it. This was a big concern for me and her as to any damage. They removed the tree with only misc. tiny branches and saw dust getting in her yard which they cleaned up. She was very happy and we are still good neighbors. Couldn't ask for more. Absolutely consider using Bratt Tree Service for anything you need done, you will not be disappointed. As a professional myself(owner of KL Drywall LLC) and multi year Angies List super service award winner, I know a professional when I see one. Jon, the owner of Bratt is the best at what he does.
Description of Work: Remove a very large diseased Elm Tree from a difficult location. Next to my house, next to my garage and over my neighbors pristine yard. This was a larger Elm tree. Bottom 4 ft just before the stuff weighed in as $2800.00 lbs. Tree approx 80 ft tall. A challenging job. They removed the entire tree.

Bratt Tree Company was the second estimate I received. The bid was quite a bit lower than another company I had inquired about on Angie's List. There work was excellent and I would highly recommend them to any one looking to have tree work completed. I plan to have Bratt Tree Company trim a large silver maple in the back yard this winter.

I reviewed Angie's List for tree services in my area and selected Bratt Tree Company based on the experience of other Angie's List reviewers. I emailed Bratt Tree Company. I received an email reply the next business day and they sent me a bid in the mail within the next week. The bid was well detailed, including tree diameter and all of the charges including taxes. I signed the bid and sent it back, authorizing them to do the work when it fit their schedule. They did the work within the next two weeks and billed me by mail. I am very satisfied with the entire transaction and I will definitely contact them the next time I need tree work done.

Bratt was prompt in providing me a written estimate. I shopped around and another company I called uses Bratt as a subcontractor to do their stump grinding work. They wanted to charge me $75 more for the same work. Because the tree stump to be ground was located in a City of Minneapolis boulevard, the city's forestry division required me to have Bratt call for a free permit (the city faxes them almost immediately). For some reason, Bratt did not want to do this. I cannot verify that they obtained the permit. While I would use Bratt again for tree work, I did not like the way they brushed off my request.

I submitted an estimate request on line on a Friday. By Tuesday I had an estimate in my mailbox. I called with a few questions which they quickly replied to. I expressed my desire to have my work done quickly due to other projects. The squeezed me in within 1 week. We set an appointment, which I received a friendly day before reminder. The appointment was for 1pm and they were on sight exactly on time. The crew of 5-6 guys quickly performed the work and left the area clean. Jon was very personable.

What a great experience hiring Bratt! I e-mailed them requesting an estimate, and the next day my neighbor said he saw them taking measurements. They replied to my request 2 days later saying they could get it down by the city's deadline, but Xcel couldn't drop the lines from the alley to the house that quickly. They coordinated with the city so I wouldn't be fined. My neighbor said he watched for four hrs as John (owner) and his crew orchestrated a "well choreographed aerial ballet". They were very careful to tie ropes around the limbs and gently lower them to the ground. They were also kind enough to put all the wood chips in my neighbors driveway, at his request. Bratt was the lowest bid I received, which surprised me given their promptness in contacting me and getting the job done. I'll definitely hire them again if my Elm tree in the front yard needs to go.

They accommodated us by saving the large branches for us for our fireplace. They cleaned up the debris and removed a large stump out as well. They are very economical and cheaper than other tree services and we chose them because they are more affordable.

I needed to have the trees removed promptly because of a pending construction job on the garage. They came out the next day to give me an estimate and arrange a time to do the work. Two days later they came and removed the trees and ground out the stumps. The team and their equipment were top notch. If you need this kind of work done and live in their service area (restrict your search by distance - 10 miles), call them...

They came out and gave me an estimate. It was a little difficult to set a date to have the work done, as we played phone tag for a few days. However, it was the middle of winter and I don't expect they were in their office everyday. We were extremely satisfied with the work performed and they did an excellent job of cleaning the work site.

I called three companies and they were cheaper then the others by at least 1/2, which was a tremendous savings. They also had a very good reputation on Angie's List so I went with them. I removed the fence, they arrived at 8:00 a.m. as they said they would with several trucks and workers. They had all the equipment needed and went to work promptly. I had to leave for a bit and got tied up a little while. The owner called me at 10:30 a.m. and they were done. I have done tree work myself and I was astounded at the speed they completed the job. They removed from site everything and cleaned up. They did everything I had asked of them, and they trimmed off the remains of a third dead tree for free. Wonderful service, nice workers on site, professional and fast. I would highly recommend them and I am already having them look at other tree work I need done.
Description of Work: Remove two trees. 40ft catalpa and a 25 ft box elder. Both trees were in the back yard, and the catalpa was leaning between my house and the neighbors home. There were also electrical and phone wires in the way. They were also on the property line with a fence, which I temporarily removed for access to the tree.

Jon Bratt and his crew were fantastic! They arrived on time and were fast and efficient. We had an Elm tree in a somewhat difficult location--a dead end alley, next to our neighbor's garage, next to our shed and behind a row of tall shrubs we use for screening our house. It was surrounded. Jon and the guys got right to work using ropes and bucket lifts and saws, wood chippers...everything. They had the tree down, chipped, loaded and the stump ground out in less than 3 hours. We couldn't be happier.

I noticed this problem on a Sunday morning and watched during the day as the crack grew larger. I contacted Bratt Tree on Monday morning and met with John that evening to discuss options. We decided the best option was to take the tree down. John returned on Tuesday and trimmed most of the weight off of the limb to reduce the chance of it falling. The crew returned on Thursday to finish the job and did a great job cleaning up.
Description of Work: We had an old elm tree removed from our back yard. One of the 2 main limbs of the tree started to break away from the trunk taking a large portion of the trunk with it. The limb was about 20" in diameter and if it fell it would take out the electric and phone service.

I called and asked them to come over to look at a tree that needed some emergency surgery. I specifically mentioned that we had a couple of broken branches that looked ready to come down and that I didn't want them to fall on our heads so time was an important factor. Tom (I think it was Tom) said he'd try to get over for an estimate, asap. After a week, I called again and they said he hadn't done the estimate yet. I called again after another three days or so and they still hadn't been by to look. I finally hired another company that was very responsive and returned my call the same day.

The Bratt Tree Company did a great job from start to finish. The Silver Maple was a well established tree in our lawn but had been placed directly over our sewer pipe! After getting the pipe repaired numerous times, it was time to take this huge tree down. The Bratt tree company issued a bid that came in much lower than the other tree removal companies. We liked their thorough bid. They called to schedule a removal time. On the scheduled day, they arrived promptly. They took much effort to be as safe as possible. They were efficient and clean. We are very pleased with their work and will highly recommend them to others. John Bratt and crew are great!

They promptly returned my call and provided an estimate within 3 days. The bid was the lowest by a significant margin. Bratt scheduled the job about 3 weeks out, and the date was firmed up with a letter and phone call. They did the job when promised and did a good job of removing a large elm along my property line near my neighbor's and my garage without damage to either. They did a good job of removing two large stumps next to a concrete retaining wall along my property line and cleaning up most of the wood chips. The only note I make with regard to their service is that they chipped the retaining wall (the top is at ground level). I did not care about the chip (it's not large, merely cosmetic and will be obscured by a fence), but they did not raise the issue with me, and it presumably caused them to not grind out a large root running near the wall. In their defense, I did not timely discover the issues and did not ask them to address them.

These guys are awesome. Though the price seemed high, the bid was very competitive with others I received quotes from (I guess tree trimming just costs a lot). I wasn't home when the tree was trimmed, but when I returned, I couldn't even tell someone had been here. The only indication was my beautifully trimmed tree. No mess, no debris left in my (or neighbors) yard. Absolutely wonderful.

Bratt was straightforward, responsive and offered a great value. They were amazing to watch and took down our tree with great care and finesse and with minimal damage to our property. They warned us accurately about some garden damage risk, so that we could move a few plants on our boulevard out of harm's way. They performed a very reasonable clean up of the area upon completion. They were also respectful, knowledgeable and sympathetic (my husband and I were still a bit traumatized at the loss of our tree). The only quibble was that we had asked for a deep grind (18''), but they didn't warn us that they needed the gas line marked, so they were only able to do a shallow grind (4'')at the time.
Description of Work: Bratt removed our dutch elm diseased tree and stump in our front yard, including removing all the portions of the tree and the extra matter, produced during the stump grind. The tree was not within the city easement, and so we had to pay for it ourselves. Bratt also looked at one of our shrubs, to advise on some concerns I had, as well as providing advice to our neighbor on saving their own tree from the dread disease.

The work was done to my satisfaction. There were a few problems, mostly out of the company's control. Because, of road work in front of my house, the removal had to be delayed over the weekend. The company said they left me a message telling me this, but I did not get it. The tree was cut down on Monday, but most of the wood was left in my yard. There was no explanation given. When I called, I was told that they were unable to get the equipment to my yard to haul away the wood. I would have liked it if they had left me a message about this. When I called, they came out and removed the rest of the wood and left some in nice firewood lengths. Although I was frustrated by not getting messages about the status of the project, John was very nice when I talked to him, and the work was done well. I also found out that John had climbed the tree to remove it, since the truck couldn't get to my yard. I appreciated that, because I was concerned about the safety of the tree.

They were prompt, professional, and removed a huge tree safely and with no damage to the house, shed, garage or fence that were in very close proximity. The tree was growing out of the center of the backyard deck, and was removed with no damage to the deck. After the trees were down, all debris was removed and the area was left clean. They also cut back some branches of a tree that were growing into the shed roof, at no additional charge.

We had trees that had fallen during the last heavy snow. I had heard of the good reputation of Bratt. They lived up to my expectations. They are prompt and thorough. They returned my inquiry within 3 days and performed the work within 1 week. They are honest, knowledgeable, and good at diagnosing what needs to be done. Cleanup is complete. That is, when we go into the yard, we can't even tell where the old fallen trees were. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Price was reasonable for this type of work, and they are most thorough.
