I needed to replace an aging water heater with a new one. Chad, one of the plumbers, came out and gave me a quote for a gravity feed and power vent water heater. I went with the power vent model. On the day of the install, I was also having the old flue abated and Chad worked with and around the other crew to keep everything going smoothly. The installation of the venting was a little more complicated because of the layout of my house, but Chad did a great job. The final bill was the same as the bid, so no surprises when the bill arrived. The water heater passed inspection easily and I am happy with the new water heater.

I called Blaylock plumbing because I needed someone to take a look at my shower spigot because water was flowing out of it even when the shower was on. I also had a smaller amount of water leaking from my hot water handle. They were able to send someone out right away due to a cancellation. They replaced the spigot with a replacement I had previously purchased. I opted not to do anything about the hot water handle because the person they sent out said that he could try to repair it but there was a chance that it might not work and that then it would necessitate a far more pricey repair. I really appreciated the transparency and honesty and would not hesitate to go through this company for future needs.

The same afternoon after I contacted them Dan Blaylock went out to look things over and try and verify what needed to be done. The next morning they had two big guys out to did through a foot of frozen turn and locate the cover to the steel tank, break loose the old bolts, verify that the pump was bad, call me about a replacement, get one, get it all put back together and working again, and then throw the dirt back on top to fill in the hole until we can get back at it for a more permanent solution in the spring. We had company coming to stay that weekend and were a little panicked. We couldn't have been any happier that they were able to save us from what could have been a terrible situation. It wasn't cheap, I'm not saying it was overpriced, not at all, I'm just saying it wasn't cheap--but whad'ya do....

It all went just fine, work was completed as requested with the exception that I also asked the person to fix a bathroom sink drain that wouldn't hold water. He looked at it and made a statement that it was missing a part, but made no reference what-so-ever to repairing it which is what I wanted. When I made the appointment, I was not made aware that the fees start the second the repair person leaves their shop, and the meter runs whilst they drive both to and from the worksite. Had I known that, I certainly would have chosen a plumbing service much closer to home.

My leasing agent called to tell me my tenants had a major backup in the basement. She had Roto-Rooter out to clean out the sewer line. Then the Roto-Rooter guy put a camera through and said we needed replace part of the pipe, which he would be happy to do by digging 10 feet down into our yard for an arm and a leg. Feeling more than slightly panicked, I nevertheless decided to call around. When I talked to Dan at Blaylock Plumbing, first he quoted me a price for the service roughly a third of what Roto-Rooter charges. Then, he brought his own camera out to the property and moments later called to inform me that he didn't think the repair was even necessary. I'm so thankful to have learned my lesson the easy way, and for any future plumbing issues, I will call Blaylock Plumbing.

Broken sewer pipe was 14 feet deep and they had to dig in a very tight space between my electricity and gas lines. The break ended up being directly below my gas line and slightly outside of the excavation box. I thought it was totally hopeless but they were calm and professional and improvised a way to make it work. They had put the huge mound of dirt on special boards so everything went back into the hole so all I have in my yard is a relatively small 4x8 section to re-sod. Those guys are the BEST!

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor in over 25 years. Customer Service is awful. Ethics are questionable. The plumber did not put tarps down and there was soot tracked all over my beige carpet on the floor and stairs. When I mentioned this issue, all I got was a response of ?oops?. I will have to clean my carpets. After several exchanges with the owner, I finally received an insincere apology and no offer to pay for the carpet cleaning. The work also failed inspection for two items. I had to take time off of work to have the repairs done. Even after it was done, it was not correct. The pictures sent to the inspector did not match what was requested to solve the issue. I ended up fixing one piece myself, rather than taking time off of work to get it done right. I would never use this contractor again. They do not seem to have any semblance of customer focus, being respectful of my property and time.

Awesome, his recommendation was correct and I had the issue resolved quickly.
Description of Work: I have a rental home that had a wet spot in the middle of a hallway. Dan met me at the property within 30 minutes of my call and spent about 45 minutes with me diagnosing the problem, because there were no plumbing lines near the wet spot. He had 3 others on site to help diagnose, from the city and his guys I think. Anyway, we ended up figuring out that it was a leak from the air conditioner, Dan said I needed and HVAC guy and to call him when I have a plumbing issue, I asked him what I owed him for his time and he said nothing, just call him when I have a "real plumbing leak". He is going to be my go to plumber for any issue going forward, very friendly, helpful, and over the top kindness. Thanks again Dan!

Initial visit and estimate was very easy, plumber was super friendly and professional and told me all my options for several different jobs I wanted to have priced. Scheduling with the office staff was also easy. They responded to phone calls and to emails promptly and kept everything organized even when we had to do a last minute reschedule. On installation day, the plumber showed up early/on time and did a great job. My bathroom has vintage tile that would not be easy to replace. He removed the old sink and installed the new sink without damaging any of the tile. Everything looked really nice and clean and squared away when he was done, and he didn't leave behind any mess. Invoice was right on the estimate, and I received it promptly in the mail just a few days later.

It's a pretty long story, but in the end Blaylock Plumbing - and Dan Blaylock in particular - saved us thousands of dollars on our sewer repair. Some necessary background: In February of this year we had some water back up in our basement, to which we had a different company come out and clear the roots. The next day, that company ran a camera and saw that about 80 feet out a PVC pipe had moved, leaving only an inch and a half of opening which caused the backup. They quoted us $7,000 for the repair. They said I could call the city but ultimately the repair of your drain-out is your responsibility. I said I would wait and see how often it backs up, to which they were not amused. Two months later we had another backup. I immediately hopped on Angie's List and found Blaylock Plumbing on here and sent a lengthy email. Dan called I believe on Monday and planned on coming out early that week. Dan pulled the permits on the pipe and found that there was no record of work being done. He thought this was a sign that someone who did bigger work on the street had cracked the pipe and dropped one in without notifying the city and pulling a permit. Because of a winter snow storm that day and his location not being that close to our home, he called and we talked over things and he recommended another company to come root it and cam it again since he didn't trust the company that quoted me $7,000. I had that company come out which performed services for half the price of the first company. Dan talked to that contractor and because of the relative location of the PVC pipe. He came out a couple days later and ran his camera and marked the street. He gave me a quote of $2,200 - $2,800 (this is WITH digging in the street), which included running a sleeve on the six feet of clay pipe that was at the end of the drain-out as well as adding a clean-out in our yard so that future plumbers did not have to go into our basement bathroom to get access to the drain-out. He then went to city hall and talked to the city engineer who immediately said that there had been a burst water main and our drain out likely had been damaged in the repair. Even though Dan could have stopped here, he stayed in contact with me all the way through. The city did not have him do the repair because the company that had originally dropped the PVC pipe in did it at their cost. He talked to me the day before the repair and the day of the repair. I ultimately was able to get the receipts from all the plumbing bills covered by the city as well, so besides the stress and time loss my story ended well. I can't say enough good things about Blaylock Plumbing. Whether you're a new homeowner like me or have had a house for decades, this is the guy to go to for any problems with your sewer drain-out. Even if I did need a repair, Dan would have done it for far less than what others would have charged and I have no doubt that it would have been the highest quality repair.
Description of Work: The actual service that was performed was running a camera down our sewer drain-out, locating and marking the street where a pipe needed replacement, and finally a consultation with city public works officials.

As promised, Chad called when he was on his way to my house. He arrived promptly. He listened to the issues I was having and offered a couple of solutions with estimates for each. He also told me the pros and cons for each of the proposed solutions. Once I made my decision he performed the work in a timely and professional manner. On Sunday we discovered that our main sewer pipe had been damaged by some excavation and was leaking sewage into our back yard. I spent most of Monday trying to get a plumber to come look at the situation. After several failed attempts a Nationally known company finally came out and gave me a repair estimate which I initially accepted for work to be performed the following day. Not satisfied with the estimate but feeling stuck we made one more call to Blaylock. Even though it was late in the day Dan came right over and assessed the situation. He told us he could do the exact same job as quoted by the other company for about half the cost and get it done the next morning. His initial quote was $1500. Dan and his assistant showed up exactly at the time promised, completed the repair quickly and professionally and at a cost of $1000. We could not be happier with their service and would use them again as a first choice for any plumbing needs

Our sewer line from the house to the street has had annual root blockages, and this year the person who does the clean-out told us we had a collapsing concrete drainpipe. He suggested Blaylock Plumbing, and we had used them before for plumbing problems around the house. They came out with a video scope and assessed the pipe, told us we needed to replace it, gave us a verbal estimate, and then offered to come out the next day and blow the line out to make is usable until the repair could be completed. The 'fix' they offered was to drive a new pipe under our house that would connect the old line with the street. I had not heard of this method, so I told them I had some concerns. Dan offered to meet me at one of his current repair sites in Bloomington to walk me through the process. All looked good, so we decided to have the work done. Blaylock came out a few days later (waiting for non-freezing weather) and finished the entire job in one day. They were very careful with their machinery and took the time they needed to work around our landscaping. Dan's original estimate was for $3500, but also said that, if the ground had issues like rocks or clay, it might be a higher. When the job was completed, he told me the ground was just the right consistency for the job, and that the cost would be around $2900.00. You don't often get a contractor who comes in under the estimate without any prompting. We appreciated the work and the honesty. As for the sewer line, it looks good so far.
