Description of Work: I hired Better Yards and Gardens last spring to solve a grading/drainage problem that had produced an excessively wet area in the grass behind a corner of my house. The problem was difficult to solve without major excavation, which would have been very costly. Paul's plan involved placing stones near the foundation, adding gutter downspout extensions, and digging a 50 feet long 4 feet wide trench to run the gutter water and rain away. Please see my earlier favorable review of Paul's efforts regarding that work. Unfortunately, however, and with the wet summer, the trench didn't drain as Paul had hoped and it is constantly filled with muck. I called him last week to express my disappoint, recognizing the difficulty involved and that he had never guaranteed a successful outcome. He came out yesterday and worked his butt off digging a narrow, deeper trench in the muck and installing 50 feet of perforated drain tile and pebbles. He charged me nothing for his materials, time, and considerable effort. This is a man who truly stands behind his work.

Initially we were going to re-sod the entire backyard, but after talking with Paul we decided to only do half. Communication was very good, the turnaround time was quick. They did a wonderful job and we were very pleased with the results. It's been about a month since they did the job and the sod is beautiful and very high quality. The yard looks great.
Description of Work: They re-soded half of our backyard, treated the grass on the other side to help with pet urine marking, put down topsoil/seed. The also put a mulch border around the yard and a rock border around the garage.

 + -1 moreOur experience was easy from the beginning. We were referred to this company by Artistic Fence, who is replacing the fence in our backyard. We'd had previous bids for $10,000+ to do the same job, so we weren't optimistic. When his price came in so low, we couldn't NOT say yes. They gave us a reasonable time frame a few weeks out (3 weeks?) and stuck to it. They tried to coordinate with Artistic Fence and ultimately took down the existing fence themselves and didn't charge us. The walls went in in a day and a half, the yard was left clean and intact. Everyone who worked on the job was polite and friendly, we are very very very happy!!!
Description of Work: Installed terracing in hilly backyard, 240 foot wide retaining walls, with stairs. Price elevated due to impossible access to backyard, materials had to be moved by hand (no machines).
