Requested a bid for basement plumbing work on remodel job. Plumber came out, was very nice and professional. We decided to go with another plumber for the work.

Came to the house the same day I called, spent six hours here to finish the work, came back the second day without an additional service charge because I forgot to tell them about another drain. Quick action, excellent service, great people to do the work.

From the time Jeff Barnes provided an estimate to the end of the project, all went great. Jeff was very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Once we agreed to terms and a start date, they got started. Chris, the plumber who did the work at my house, was also very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. He asked a few questions to get started and get things done ASAP. Since I didn't have the garbage disposal when Chris was on site, he left me the material needed to finish the installation myself.

We were upset with their final quote because it was 20% higher than what they had quoted us in the first place. After speaking with the owner who was very apologetic we did negotiate a price that was somewhat fair. However it was unprofessional that they charged us that much in the first place.

Well done. Took entire sink apart to get at line. Went above an beyond call by caulking sink and pedestal where needed.

I called Barnes this morning because I noticed the cracked, leaking pipe last night. They were one of only two companies that could help me today and in fact I found out the plumber, Joe, had actually called one of his clients and asked if he could make a quick urgent repair first. (Thank you!) Joe did a great, quick job and was considerate as well. He removed his shoes and wiped up the kitchen floor was he was done. There was no clean-up left for me to do.

I had what appeared to be leaking pipes in basement as well as under kitchen sink. I had noticed occasional slow leak over several weeks, and called for help on a Saturday morning when it worsened. I called three companies, all on Angie's List, and Barnes was the only one to call back, all had voice mail only. Joe called back within 45 minutes, assessed the situation not to be an emergency and scheduled me for first thing Monday morning. He called me Monday morning to let me know what time he would arrive, arrived when he said he would and took care of the job. He informed me that my garbage disposal hookup was shoddy, cause of leak, and said I might want to consider getting rid of it, or upgrading to a better one and described how the newer ones are constructed. He took care not to make too much of a mess and cleaned up before leaving. He also looked at my laundry tub in basement at my request and gave me a rough estimate for replacement.

This is a very easy company to work with. The office staff is very pleasant and helpful. Mike, who did all the work at our house, was very pleasant and terrific at talking things through, as well as answering questions. He was prompt, efficient, and an extremely hard worker, and he also did a good job. However, Jeff, the owner, recommended radiant heat floor to replace the radiator in our rather small bathroom, but never gave us a quote or any comparison price information for a smaller flat radiator. I did call once to remind him. We ended up having the radiant heat installed and were surprised at the price in the thousands and then an additional $600 or so for the separate thermostat for the bathroom. We are having trouble getting the bathroom warm enough without heating up the rest of the house.

I had been looking for a good plumber for a really long time. I think I had about 7 guys over to give me an estimate. Mike, the plumber who gave me the estimate and completed the work, was a clear favorite. His price was competitive but most importantly he wasn't dismissive and made sure he knew exactly what I wanted. I was worried because the water had to be shut off in my house- but he planned everything out so it was only off for an hour or two. He was always at the job on time and even finished the project sooner than I expected. His work is neat and professional. He will be my plumber for every upcoming project.

Barnes plumbing was consistently helpful and honest. They gave us good information and lent us tools with no gain for themselves- not many plumbers would answer questions over the phone for plumbing that they didn't get hired for. They definitely have my future business.

Warren, the plumber assigned to us, worked on schedule, did very good work, explained things well when we asked, did some good problem solving, and was quite friendly. We had an difficult problem with an existing radiator, which involved step by step decisions on cost. Although the radiator now works somewhat better, it is not great. However, we were part of the decision, as we decided not to go for the ultimate fix that would require possible tear-out of plumbing and ceiling in an existing room. As part of this fix, we felt that the boss of Barnes oversold us a new pump for our furnace. This furnace and fixtures were only one year old. We probably did not need the pump, which he claimed was far superior than the installed one.

Update as of 01/04/06 - I came home to find 2 major leaks under the sink. The plumber came back out to add more glue to stop the leaking. I'm not real confident that this is the best fix for the problem. I think they should have done a better job on the repair the first time.

I CAME UPON BARNES BECAUSE I DECIDED I WANTED A RHEEM WATER HEATER, AND THEY WERE ONE OF THE LOCAL INSTALLERS. I HAD AN 80 GAL ELECTRIC TANK INSTALLED ($800). BARNES DID A GREAT JOB, HOWEVER THEY MADE A MISTAKE THAT REQUIRED THEM TO HAVE TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY. AS IT WAS UNSCHEDULED, I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THERE WAS TIME AFTER A SCHEDULED APPT. OTHERWISE, I HAD A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE. BARNES ARRANGED FOR TWO DIFFERENT SIZED WATER HEATERS TO BE DELIVERED, AS I WASN'T SURE IF THE 80 GAL WOULD FIT IN THE SPACE. VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY CHARGE $120/H FOR SMALL JOBS, BUT I FELT THEY REALLY WERE EXPERIENCED AND CARED ABOUT THE JOB. THEY MADE A SMALL MISTAKE, BUT MISTAKES HAPPEN. THEY SEEMED CONCERNED AND THEY FIXED IT AT NO CHARGE.

WE HAVE USED THEM BEFORE. THEY ARE ALWAYS THOROUGH AND CAPABLE. A LITTLE PRICEY BUT WE KNOW THE JOB WILL BE DONE WELL. THEY ARE USUALLY ABLE TO COME OUT FAIRLY QUICKLY. NO LONG WAITS. PERSON ANSWERING THE PHONES IS ALWAYS COURTEOUS AND RESPONSIVE.

THEY DID MANAGE TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEIR DESCRIPTION OF THE PART WAS INCORRECT. THEY DID A POOR JOB OF RETURNING PHONE CALLS, BUT DID ARRIVE ON TIME WHEN FINALLY CONTRACTED. THEIR PRICES ARE EXTREMLY HIGH, 90 PER HR...ALL IN ALL A FAIR TO POOR EXPERIENCE.
