Aura Professional Hardwood Flooring

Gary came out quickly and assessed the project, which included removing a dark coat of stain applied to the maple floor by a previous owner. He provided and honored his estimate of costs. He scheduled the job and he and his crew showed up on time and quickly set to work, masking off the bedroom and ventilation from other parts of the house to minimize any mess. They applied several coats of finish and were careful to match the new finish with the existing finish in the adjacent hallway. The work was done on time, with minimal clean-up and at a cost previously estimated. I couldn't recommend Gary and his crew more highly.

Job went great. everything he said he would do he did and did well. probably going to have him install wood in our dining room this spring. we got lots of compliments on his work.

We hired Aura after interviewing 3 floor installation professionals and reviewing bids. Gary Poole (owner of Aura) made a fair bid and it was clear that he was knowledgeable and easy to work with. Gary and his crew were courteous, conscientious, and skilled. They came exactly when they said they would come and the project (removing carpet, installing hardwood floors and a stairway) went exactly as proposed. We were so delighted about the quality of the work that we hired Gary to remove carpet and build floors for two more rooms. He fit us into his busy schedule (in order to meet our request to do the job sooner rather than later) and he (and the same crew) did another wonderful job for us. Our floors and stairway are beautiful. We have only one big concern: the floors upstairs were not in great shape before Gary started his work (and we mentioned this several times to him). They were clearly uneven and mushy in spots. After he installed the hardwood floors we had some very wide gaps between floorboards. We called Gary and he said it was related to the dry weather (he finished the work in late fall and we had an extremely dry winter). We put humidifiers in the rooms, but the gaps are really quite wide (our socks get a bit stuck in them--I have never seen such wide gaps in any house I have lived in). We think this may be a problem with the subfloor. Almost 9 months of past--and there has been a good deal of humidity in the rooms--and the gaps remain. A smaller problem is the finishing work. We bid for stair and floor installation, and that's what we got. I would suggest when people are getting bids that they ask what kind of trim work will be done so the finished product looks finished! Not the biggest deal in the world, but something we didn't think about asking. In sum: We recommend Aura, but we probably should have been more attentive customers when it came to the subfloor, the gaps, and the trim work. Update May 2015: We have since had other floor people look at the wide gaps in the hardwood floor Aura installed. This does seem like less than ideal work.

I can't say enough about how good the experience was with Gary and Troy. From Gary giving the estimate and talking through options to the final coat, their service was excellent. I had some walls and a built in closet removed- only the subflooring was under each of these. Troy took out some of the existing wood in order to patch properly (and retain the staggered placement of the boards). Once the sanding was complete, it was almost impossible to tell which boards were new and which were original. The seal and protective coatings came out great and the floors like fantastic. Both of these guys were extremely professional, polite, on time each day, and they did a great job cleaning up. I would absolutely use them again. I had to wait about a month from estimate to work, but it was well worth the wait. Now I know why they are so busy! Thanks to both of you- I can't wait to "move in!"

I have used him many times and he is great. My friends were also astounded by the work he did. He was really fairly priced. He was efficient and he did a really fantastic job of refinishing.

Aura was fantastic. From the estimate onward Gary was personable and helpful. They were the only people we spoke with to offer a water-based seal, and we also appreciated that they are environmentally safe. After the first day, we realized that we had not requested the main area to be stained. Gary went out of his way to remove the work he had already done, stain the floor, and then redo the seal, even coming in on a Saturday to finish, and not charging us for the extra time even though it was clearly our fault. As he put it, "You want to get it done right," which is exactly the attitude you want. And our floors look incredible! We would heartily recommend Aura for your refinishing job.

Overall everything went great.....the price and the quality of the work was excellent. I plan on using AURA in the future

Gary provided the most competitive bid, and did an incredible job. The maple floor in our kitchen looks like new! Even the back landing and steps are great, and it makes the entire room look much brighter. He did all the work while we were out of town for a few days, and even moved a cabinet out of the way which we had forgotten to do. We'd definitely use Aura again!

What a great experience! Gary (owner) arrived promptly to complete the estimate and followed up iright away with a written quote. On the day of the work, he arrived right on schedule and completed the work in a day and a half. He was very responsive, answered all my questions, and had great suggestions for floor care, which products are best for hardwood floors, etc. He did a great job of cleaning up after the work was complete. He charged me exactly the quoted price, and best of all, my floors look fabulous! I have no complaints at all; this was a flawless experience and I’ve already recommended this company to two friends.

I was told by another company that they could NOT restore the hardwood floors we found beneath some awful composite in the living, dining room, and study. They said it would look awful and it would cost close to $8,000 to complete (just those three rooms). They recommended installing new flooring everywhere. Then I spoke with Gary and he said they could be refinished. He also quoted me a significantly lower price for the work. He was also able to install wood floors in three upstairs bedrooms and closets for less than carpeting would have cost. You can see from the photos that the work was beautifully done.

Gary and his partner did a fantastic job on our project! They were personable, extremely efficient, and frankly they beat two other bids by a large margin. I could not have been happier with their work, and would readily recommend them or use them again myself without hesitation.

Aura did an amazing job. They arrived on time, finished the work on time and did a great job cleaning up after themselves. The floors looked just beautiful. They removed the previous finish, which was very dark and had gotten kind of gummy in places, and revealed gorgeous floors underneath. They even did a great job on the spaces under radiators and in closets. I was thrilled with their performance and I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We contacted Gary Poole because he was more environmentally sound with the chemicals he used for the refinishing of our floors. His prices were very reasonable for the work he did.

We received a couple bids for the work which were all very comparative in price. Aura was however more flexible in allowing us to buy the base shoe to reduce the cost, which ended up working out great. We were told it would take two days to complete for roughly 600 square feet. Gary, the owner has two employees, that actually performed the work. The only advice we would be give to Gary would be more timely communication. We thought after day one that the floors would be done on day two, however, it was taking longer than expected and the work was not actually done until day three, which we were not told of this until day two. This normally wouldn't be a huge deal, however, we were planning on staying back at the house on day two (after the oil poly was applied). Overall, outside of the above, we were very happy with the finished product. The floors look great, like brand new, the team paid attention to detail, and as promised filled some smaller holes with hard fill. In addition, the base shoe and transitions look great. We would definitely use Aura again.

Gary was very responsive, professional, and friendly. He came out to do an estimate right away and we corresponded via email to set up the appointment for a few weeks later. Gary showed up right when he said he would and his crew did an excellent job repairing and refinishing as agreed. His pricing seemed very reasonable and I was very happy with the work done. They sealed off the areas being worked on and cleaned up well to minimize the dust. I would definitely recommend Aura to friends and anyone looking for hardwood flooring work.

Great experience with Aura; very prompt return of phone calls and on-time for estimate; was able to get an appointment for next week; owner was extremely helpful in accomodating my schedule and the unique layout of my home and furniture. My only disappointment was that trash, including supplies used by workers, was left behind in my garden.

Great. The workers arrived on time for the job, listened to our concerns, kept us posted on the progress, and finished on time. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves. We were pleasantly surprised by how little dust (from the floor sanding) was left in the house. The floors looked gorgeous and we are so happy with the work.

Gary never performed the project for me because I went with another company.

Really great experience from start to finish: Gary returned my phone call that day, was able to come over and give us an estimate the next day, explained in detail what he thought would be the best approach for sanding and what our options were as far as protective finishes, and his bid was very reasonable and competitive compared to the two other estimates that we had gotten. He was able to book the job within a few weeks, showed up exactly when he said he would, did a beautiful job with the floor and cleaned up completely after each step. We would definitely use Gary/Aura again!

Gary and his crew did an excellent job from the estimate to the completion of the work. I got several bids and their price was HALF that of several, with only one other coming pretty close. As they were rated highly, I was not afraid they were going to cut corners. They didn't and I don't have a thing to complain about the work they did. I look forward to having them come back out and refinish the rest of the floors when that time comes.

Gary and his crew installed the family room floor (450 sq ft) while weI were out of town as per our arrangement. When we got home, we came in to the house and were amazed at how beautiful the new floor looked. At this point we decided to have them do the additional 450 sq ft. They were right on it, Gary came back after the job was done, and installed special molding which he created to give everything a full finished look.

A couple of spots needed new wood once the carpet was up and fixing that didn't impact our timeline at all and the cost to replace the damaged boards was reasonable. Gary and his crew were on time, knowledgeable, and overall very easy to work with. All that and their pricing was very competitive. I'll definitely call them again if I need floors refinished.
