Description of Work: Spoke to Dave (the owner) to set up a time for a estimate. Dave never showed or called for the scheduled time. I placed a call to him to inquire on the no show thinking stuff happens give him the benefit of the doubt. He never returned my call. Called him a week later to give him one more chance. Again never returned my call. Very poor professional approach. I believe this says a lot about his approach to potential clients.

We didn't go with them but I liked what they talked about. We talked about four different places. They were professional and we were looking for a one-stop shop. They could do multiple things and for us, we wanted one contractor who would do everything like purchasing of cabinets and things like that. They could supply cabinets but we were looking to save costs. We were thinking of the time we were going to do it but we found somebody else that was going to do stuff for us.

all stages of the renovation were completed on time. I was most impressed with Sam's design knowledge and experience. The workers were always pleasant. No matter how messy the work area was, at the end of each work day, the area was left clean. The kitchen and the butler's pantry are beautiful, and the more I use my kitchen the more I love it.
Description of Work: complete kitchen remodel, including electrical, plumbing, flooring. The contractor,Dave, was a one-man wrecking and building crew. Quality of work was excellent. Any problems or obstacles concerning plumbing or electrical were dealt with promptly.

The entire process was fantastic...from the initial consultation to completion. Both Sam and Dave (owners) were very professional and responsive to our wants/needs. All subcontractors were wonderful and we enjoyed meeting/working with them all. Artistic has a great calendar system they use to schedule the entire project and it was amazing how they were able to stick to it. I knew exactly when and what to expect throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Stud Finders is a very professional organization. I appreciate Dave's punctuality, and they provided calendars/deadlines that they stuck to. I am pretty detailed-oriented and fussy about details, and I was never disappointed. They work with very professional subs - both electricians and plumbers. We had a major issue pop up with our heating/cooling unit 5 months after it was installed, and they jumped on it right away and had it fixed almost in 48 hours. We were really appreciative of their responsiveness. Bottom line, they care greatly about "doing the job right" and they are honest, hard working people. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We did a "face lift" on our two bedrooms and stairs, including new dry wall, insulation, carpet, and heat/cooling unit. Sam was very helpful in picking out colors and designing a new handrail and railing. The combinations she suggested are really stunning. She also designed built-in drawers, which are really great for a space constrained house.

Artistic Kitchen Creations & Stud Finders are very professional organizations. They are very punctual and provided calendars/deadlines that they stuck to. I am pretty anal and fussy about details, but I was never disappointed. We were so impressed with the quality of their work and professionalism that we hired them in 2009 for a further project in our home. They work with very professional subs - both electricans and plumbers. We had a few issues pop up, and they got their subs in the very next day to fix the issue, so the project was completed on time. Bottom line, they are very honest, hard working people, who do fantastic quality work, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We had a redesign and build of our basement, work room, laundry room, and basement bathroom. Sam was very innovative in her redesign, taking into account our family's needs. She made several suggestions that have really paid off over the years. She is very experienced, cost conscious, and will give you her honest opinion, if you ask for it. I have come to trust her instincts as a designer implictly. Dave is a very family-friendly and hard working guy. I was very comfortable have them both in my home. Before the end of the day, Dave would meticulously clean the work area. We were very surprised how clean the rest of the house stayed, even though we had a major project going on downstairs.

Stud Finders is a very professional organization. They are very punctual and provided calendars/deadlines that they stuck to. I am pretty detailed-oriented and fussy about details, and I was never disappointed. We were so impressed with their work and professionalism that we hired them in late 2006 and 2009 for further projects in our home. They work with very professional subs - both electricians and plumbers. We had a few issues pop up, and they got their subs in the very next day to fix the issue, so the project was completed on time. Bottom line, they are very honest, hard working people, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Stud Finders did a complete redesign and build of our kitchen. We have an older home (early 1940's) and the kitchen occupied a relatively small space. Sam was very innovative about the redesign, and we absolutely love our new space! They recommended where to buy our new appliances, and because of their relationship, I feel that we got a very good deal on the appliances. Dave was very personable and a very hard worker. Before the end of the day, he would meticulously clean the work area. We were very surprised how clean the rest of the house stayed, even though we had a major project going on.

I found AKC on Angie's list after having three other design firms draw up plans for our project and not being happy with any of them, AKC was our last call (we planned to move if we couldn't get the design we wanted). Sam was the only designer who immediately "got it" she took my list of non-negotiable and beautifully incorporated them into the design. We have a busy family of four with limited space so we needed our kitchen to perform multiple functions while still feeling open and inviting. The design was spot on. Dave is amazing. Hard working doesn't even begin to cover it, he is precise, has a plan, is a true craftsman and fun to have around. He gets so much accomplished in a day it's incredible, but more importantly the quality of the work is top notch. This was a big project, we remodeled the kitchen and finished the basement simultaneously so there were a lot of moving parts, we were given a schedule at the beginning of the project and it was followed very closely. People still cannot believe that they finished on the exact day the schedule said they would be.
Description of Work: AKC designed a full kitchen remodel and a basement remodel. Sam does the design work and Dave does the installation (except for electrical, plumbing, flooring and countertops). Dave gutted our existing kitchen, removed two windows, knocked out the wall between our kitchen and dining room, and removed an existing closet. He then re framed the opening between the kitchen and dining room, put in a new window in the kitchen, re-framed and drywalled the kitchen (including the ceiling). He hung the cabinets, installed the hardware and put in the backsplash. The basement was not finished so Dave did all of the framing and insulation down there, he installed an egress window, he installed all the cabinets (wet bar, new bathroom, laundry room) brought the stairs up to code, and installed pocket and regular doors.

The subs are all scheduled at the beginning of the project and are kept to a tight schedule. From tear-out to finish, the project took only 2 months, which I think is amazing. Dave is incredibly easy to work with.....always willing to listen and make necessary adjustments, and his workmanship is top-notch. The hood over the cook-top was initially too low (hit me at eye level and my husband even lower), but Dave raised it and reworked the upper cabinets and no one would ever know. He also installed 2 steel support beams to replace 2 hollow columns that should never have been allowed by a previous re modeler...that was an unexpected surprise, but he dealt with it quickly and efficiently and we're confident it's right now. We enclosed them in the side of a display case that was made to look like a piece of furniture and matches the rest of our cabinetry.
Description of Work: Sam worked with us to design an entirely new kitchen and laundry/pantry area. We didn't like the initial design, but she kept working on it with us until we came up with just the right thing. It was a complete tear-out and re-do, down to the bare floors and walls. Mechanical work included plumbing and electrical, widening an entry-way, and adding structural support. New Brazilian cherry floors were installed in the kitchen, tile in the laundry/pantry, as well as all new appliances, cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, lighting. This was a large project and we are VERY pleased with the end results. There were some features that we had to kind of fight for, though (corner Lazy-Susan in the laundry area, spice pullouts next to the cook-top, cast iron sink as opposed to stainless steel that was suggested), so it helps if you know what you want.....the decision-making happens all throughout the process. Selection of the design elements (tile, backsplash, granite, sink, lighting, cabinet hardware) was all done by me personally, although Sam was willing to give recommendations and feedback.

Sam listened carefully to the outline of the project and asked many good design questions. She visited the house with several tile selections to ensure that the look was tasteful and in keeping with the rest of the house. Her design taste is impeccable. Throughout the entire demolition and installation phases of the project, David was exceedingly careful to keep construction "mess" to an absolute minimum. He cleaned the area up thoroughly at the end of every day - he was so very neat, people coming to the house never knew that a construction project was going on! David is a true craftsman. He was very picky about the smallest aspects of the job, and if he had any questions at all on how we wanted something, he made sure we were consulted. The final project turned out just perfect and we love our new master bath!
Description of Work: Remodel of master bathroom / shower area. Included selection of overall design & materials, demolition of existing bath and installation of new bath. We needed a quick timetable as we were getting ready to put the house on the market.

I called StudFinders on a Wednesday (New Year's Eve to be exact) as our previous company had canceled last minute. I spoke to Dave, co-owner, and explained that we were having a new refrigerator delivered on Saturday and needed to have a cabinet shortened to accommodate the height. I asked if he could come on Friday to perform the work. He asked if he could come same day to review the project to see if he could meet our needs and time frame. Dave arrived promptly and quickly assessed the situation. He took the cabinet doors with him that day and asked if he could come the following day (Thursday/New Year's Day) to complete the job. I was extremely pleased that he would be able to exceed our requested time frame. He arrived on time again on Thursday. The cabinet doors had been shortened perfectly. You could not tell that they had been altered at all. He then spent a few hours shortening the rest of the cabinet. He was very courteous and cleaned up everything before leaving. The price was extremely reasonable, especially considering the last minute nature of the job. Overall I was more than satisfied with the work that Dave performed. The work was flawless and no one will ever be able to tell that the cabinets were altered. I would recommend Dave and StudFinders to anyone seeking quality work at a reasonable price. My husband and I plan to contact StudFinders again should future projects arise.

I cannot say enough good things about this husband/wife team. Sonfra (Sam) designed the layout of our new kitchen and was the only one of 3 different kitchen designers that was able to find a way to fit an island into the room. She put together a calendar for the construction work, which was followed precisely. Her husband, Dave did the demolition, sheet rock install and taping, cabinet installation, trim work, etc. Electrical, plumbing, wood floor, Cambrian counter installation, and painting were done by subs Dave and Sam have worked with for a long time. We were very happy with the work of the subs too. Dave stopped by frequently to see the work of the subs was being done according to plan. Dave and Sam take great pride in their work, are extremely knowledgeable, conscientious, and have many years of experience in their respective areas. Both Sam s and Dave s attention to detail was above and beyond what we expected.
Description of Work: Designed new kitchen and first floor powder room. Totally gutted the kitchen and powder room, including kitchen soffits. Installed new cabinetry, Cambrian counters, all new plumbing fixtures in kitchen and powder room. Installed oak floors in the kitchen, powder room, hallway, and front foyer. Replaced much of the sheet rock in kitchen. Removed wallpaper in powder room and kitchen. Sprayed kitchen and family room ceilings. Painted kitchen, powder room, and family room. Added under-cabinet xenon lighting, recessed, and pendant lights in kitchen. Installed new fan in powder room. Installed lights over fireplace, moved light switch in living room. Installed new baseboard trim and 2 new doors.

Studfinders cares about doing a good job and has the skills to accomplish it. They are basically a husband/wife team that has regular subs for electrical and plumbing work. Sonfra (Sam) gives the client a calendar that shows when different parts of the job were to be done and they stick to that schedule. That was very helpful since I work full time and have to schedule time off ahead of time. Work was done well, communication was good, and they did a good job of keeping the job site clean.
Description of Work: Carpentry, electrical, and plumbing to put a kitchen/mudroom/dining area in what used to be a family room, also tear-out of both the family room and the old kitchen. Included re-framing a window, moving a dog door, and installation of a new exterior door. Also included appliance installation. Did not include installation of cabinets- which was done with the same crew but under a different contract with the cabinet supplier. Did not include flooring or window installation.

THIS COMPANY DID OUR KITCHEN A FEW YEARS AGO AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY IT WAS THE BEST AND MOST HONEST COMPANY WE HAVE EVER WORKED WITH. WE WERE SO HAPPY THAT EVEN IF THEIR BID FOR THE BASEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN DOUBLE, WE WOULD HAVE STILL HIRED THEM BECAUSE OF HOW EVERYTHING WAS DONE AND HANDLED ON THE FIRST JOB. NOW THAT THE BASEMENT IS COMPLETE AND WE WERE JUST AS PLEASED, IT SEEMS LIKE WE REALLY LUCKED OUT IN FINDING THIS COMPANY! ESPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE HAD AND HEARD SO MANY HORROR STORIES HOW CONTRACTORS "LOW BALL" BIDS AND THEN UPCHARGE, DON'T SHOW UP OR DO BAD WORK. THIS COMPANY WAS TRUE TO EVERYTHING THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO AND THEN SOME. WE WILL CONTINUE TO RECOMMEND THEM TO OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
Description of Work: THEY FINISHED OUR ROUGHED-IN BASEMENT WITH TWO BEDROOMS, ONE BATHROOM AND A LIVING ROOM. COMPLETELY FRAMED, SHEET ROCKED, TILED, CABINET DESIGN AND INSTALL, FINISH TRIM FOR ENTIRE AREA INCLUDING DOORS, CLOSET DOORS, WINDOW AND BASE TRIM.
