We were very happy with them. It was a very quick service. We liked how quickly he was able to come. There was a bit of a mix up with him trying to call us and not realizing there was a call on the other line. He was very pleasant when he came. I have no basis of comparison so I think it was reasonable. It works. I wasn't here but my husband seemed impressed.

We've had Appliance Express out before and he does great work. He's very personable. He shows you a lot about the appliance and what he is doing. He also gives you maintenance tips. He's great on education. I tried having Larry/"Appliance Express" come out again August 2014 for a leaking washing machine connection. It was a Friday morning and he said he'd be coming same day by 5p, if not then would come first thing Saturday morning. He didn't come nor call on either day, only followup was a call on Monday saying he could come out on Tuesday (he left message on machine) We had someone else fix it and will never call this person/business again.

I called yesterday for service on our front load washing machine. I was told the technician would come this morning. I waited until 10:30 when he called to inform me that my home (address given yesterday) was too far from any parts department if a part was needed in making the repair. He told me my address on his GPS was located in Andover. I live in Blaine which is not Andover and perhaps he could have looked up this information before I waited all morning for his arrival. On the company's website my zip code is listed as a provided service area. This kind of disregard for my time is unbelievable! VERY poor way to do business!
Description of Work: The repair technician never provided service.

I was unable to get to the house in time to repair my dishwasher so the person at the house called Larry. It shoud have been a $150 part and 5 minutes of work. Instead Larry talked the person at the house into throwing the dishwasher away and buying a new replacement. He said that with the control panel dying and the possibility that another thing might go it made more sense to purchase a new washer. In fairness to Larry the hinges were making a squeaking noise. After Larry left I ordered a new control panel and replaced it. I also pulled the dishwaser out of the wall and replaced the spring assembly. The whole job took about an hour if you do not include the parts ordering. I suspect that Larry make more money driving from appointment to appointment and pronouncing he appliances dead than he does doing repairs. Larry added nothing to the mix. The $69 it took to get larry to the door was money that was wasted.
Description of Work: Had a Kenmore Diswasher model (66516463300) that had an issue/ I was not at the house at the time that it went out. I called and had someone run diagnostics over the phone. I was able to diagnose it as needing a control panel replacement.

Larry was great: fast, thorough, professional. Our refrigerator is especially repair-prone and so this is the 4th time we've called Larry (each time for a different problem). Each time we have appreciated how quick and reasonably-priced his service is.

I called Appliance Express after being stood up by one service provider and ruling out another who could not give a ball park estimate for repair of my washing machine that wouldn't empty. I am so glad I did. Larry called back promptly, offered to come that same evening, but accommodated my need for an appointment the following day. He showed up on time ($70 fee) and figured out the problem. Unfortunately, he did not stock the part on his truck (Kenmore Calypso pump and motor combination.) I was heading out of town, meaning I wouldn't have my washing machine until the following week and would need to use a laundromat before my trip. Larry left my house with the understanding I would call him when I returned, and he said I could wait until the work was completed to pay him the fee for the estimate. About a half an hour later, he called to say he had located the part, would drive to Burnsville to pick it up and come back to make the repair if I wanted him to. Within two hours I had a fully functioning washing machine. His senior discount reduced the price by almost $40, making the decision to repair rather than replace the machine more palatable. Larry asked if I had any more questions, so I asked him about a dehumidifier issue. I had been told by Sears that I would need to bring the heavy, bulky appliance into the store, so I was delighted when Larry quickly analyzed the problem at no additional charge. Later that evening he called back to suggest how I might check my dehumidifier instruction booklet for more specific part information to order directly from the Canadian company. In addition, he gave some advice about how to use my dishwasher more efficiently. I found him extremely helpful. Extrapolating the hourly rate of the other repair people, I feel I got a bargain from Appliance Express, and I couldn't ask for anyone more helpful.
Description of Work: Larry analyzed the reason my washing machine wouldn't empty, found the replacement part, and replaced it. He also analyzed a problem with my dehumidifier.

At first, I was impressed by the level of service offered by Appliance Express, but that quickly turned around. I contacted the Minneapolis phone number regarding a refrigerator repair. The man who answered let me know he would be able to come out that same day between 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Although I couldn't be at the house, I made arrangements for a friend to be there to let him in. At about 2:30 PM, I heard from the my friend that the company had still not been there. At that time, I called the phone number and spoke with the man I talked to in the morning. I identified myself and had inquired if he was still able to make it out to my house that day. He responded in a very rude tone that he had been calling me all day and since I didn't answer he wasn't going to stop by. (I later found out that there was an overall issue with the phone company in my neighborhood.) I apologized to him for his inconvenience, not truly understanding why he wouldn't have at least stopped by the house during the specified time since I had only spoken to him a couple hours before the appointment was scheduled. He then told me that he could be there again after 5:00 PM but was obviously extremely irritated. We waited for him to come at 5:00 PM and at about 7:30 PM realized that he wasn't coming. By that time, the phone actually was working (tested about 10 times to make sure) so it was clear that he just decided not to show up and didn't feel he needed to let us know. I recognize that things weren't perfect on my end with our phone not working, but not having the understanding that things happen that we don't sometimes expect. Not willing to get over their frustration created a poor experience for me. The unprofessional approach this company took was disappointing. I would highly recommend NOT using Appliance Express as customer service is not a priority.

Hi, my name is Larry and I am always trying my best, and it is impossible to be perfect in the world of appliance repair. I love to fix appliances after all these years. When a client calls I explain every time that I call first before I drive to that location. Why?. Because emergencies happen like, children, schools, pets, or sometimes clients just plain forget. After 32 years of repairing appliances I know what works. Driving by is risky and unprofessional in my eyes. When she called and wanted a explanation as if I was at fault. It would be disappointment she heard not rudeness in my voice. I try so hard to be perfect, I try to give service in a way I would expect. Making some folks out there happy is a tough task. If you miss the first appointment, unlike all other busy companies, I will TRY to get out there later and maybe fail to fit that client back in again. I would think I am worth a follow up call the next morning and let's start over instead of a poor review here. A NOTE TO ALL ANGIES READERS, I am not perfect even as hard as I try. Did you know that there are 100s of appliance repair companies about 90 registered with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and last count was only 6 are BBB Accredited. Appliance Express is one. A+ if you did not know. 32 years experience, van with too many parts, non smoking, Same day service in most cases. Well that's the best I can do. Thanks

I remember the member and her refrigerator. She had a problem with the door seal and some shelves in the food door. Not an emergency, and the appointment was for after 4.30. I really can't remember why I did not make it to her house, 8 service calls a day, some days is overwhelming. I AM SORRY beverly bryant and wish you could have just called back in the morning and I would of a opologized and made you top priority at any time of the day or night that was convient for you. I believe I was wrong and I am sorry. Hope your next service company pleased you.

Good. He fixed the fridge on the first visit but then we noticed a small leak so he is working on fixing that. I appreciate that he has kept the job "open" to get it right. Nice guy!

As mentioned, I was able to reach Larry at the phone number on his card from two years ago. He arrived when expected, though he did not make a 'heads up' call as he missed a digit in my phone number. His diagnosis suggested two possible part failures - a 90% probable one and a 10% probable one. He gave me an estimate for the more probable cause, noting that if it proved to be the other, the part would cost less. After I accepted the estimate, he went out to his van for the part, which proved to be the same part as the factory original, not a cheap 'equivalent' part. The part was installed and the dryer reassembled in a few minutes, after which Larry started it up and tested it for full functionality. We chatted a bit more while he prepared his invoice, and he provided some suggestions on how best to insure a long life for our large appliances. While he was working, Larry mentioned that he had just returned for a six month visit to the Philippines - a trip that had extended longer than planned. I mention this as another member reported they could not get in touch with Appliance Express a few months ago.
Description of Work: Once again my Maytag gas dryer failed to heat up yesterday afternoon. I still had (and have) Larry's magnetic business card on the refrigerator, so I gave him a call - late on a Friday afternoon! Larry said he would be over between 9 and 10 Saturday morning; he arrived about 9:20, diagnosed the failure, gave me an estimate (which I approved), went out to his van for the necessary part, installed the part (the igniter), and all was good once again. This all took about 15 minutes.

I had to take some personal time off ,,I worked hard to change as many lives as I could in the mountains of the philippines,,4 hours from the nearest Mcdonalds Restaurant,,You can give a man a fish or teach him how to fish,,I started many businesses so in the very near future,,,these families won't starve anymore,or eat the same food the pigs eat...Less rice and more vegetables I tought them...I slept on bamboo beds and was eaten by bugs and I would do it again...The threat of being kidnapped on a bridge was in the idle talk I heard from neighbors...BUT on the homefront I left a message to please remember me for next time and to call my friend another appliance repairman if you need service,,He is a very honest man also...My web site is applianceexpress.net,,,visit us soon,,Good luck to all

Contacted Larry at Appliance Express for repair of our Wolf gas oven. He quickly ordered part for oven repair. Once part arrived, he scheduled visit for repair. He arrived at the house and requested that my partner move our 40 lb dog to a separate room. My partner did as requested. My partner went to sit with the dog while the repair was underway. Ten minutes later, my partner returned to kitchen to inspect and Larry had left without notifiying him and without completing the service. When contacted Larry stated, "I don't have to tell you why I left other than that I felt unsafe." When asked for the name of the owner he stated, "That's none of your business." When asked why he felt "unsafe" he responded he did not have to give out that information. Factors that may have contributed to him feeling unsafe: House in bad repair? No. Our house is in exellent condition. Dog? The dog was removed to a secure and separate room on another floor. All six numbers listed on the applianceexpress.net website were called and Larry is the only person who answers the phone.

The member did contact me after the attempt to repair a wolf gas oven and I did not tell him the truth about what happened at his home,,But I will today,,It was 2 or 3 days before the big party at there house I was told and when the pressure is on and the appliance has to be fixed before an important event I know after 30 years I am the best man for the job,,,even if I did not care for his house husbands or partner I SHOULD SAY additude,,he was pushy, demanding and telling me what to do..I sent the part directly to his house and when I arrived on time this is what I went through,,a very scarry dog starring at me growling and showing his teeth while being held by his man partner,,I said I have been bitten 7 times by dogs and Iam affraid of dogs,,please put the dog away so I can come in,,that seemed to bother him but he put the dog up stairs,,I came in to find the oven apart and the box with my part opened and he tryed to put the part on himself,,,I TOLD HIM HOW MUCH TO REPAIR THE OVEN BEFORE I ORDERED THE PART,,I reminded him how much the repair was and he complained for a few minutes and agreed,,,I started to look at the oven and the man said I AM GOING UP TO GET MY DOG OUT OF THE BEDROOM AND BRING HIM DOWN HERE AND SET ON THE COUCH WICH IS ABOUT 10 FEET FROM THE OVEN,,,I said please dont get the dog I am affraid of that dog and he went up stairs quickley,,,,I got affraid and packed up my tools and took my part with the opened box and left as fast as I could,,I was shaking all the way to the van,,knowing I could never return the $100 part now but nothing was worth the risk,,,the member called me later that night angry at me and wanted to know why I left,,,I did not tell him for 2 reasons,,,1 They had a big party coming up in 2 or 3 days,,I did not want them to fight and most important,,,CHRISTMAS is 2 weeks away and I know how it feels to be alone because I am alone at christmas most every time and I could not tell him his man is a L<*%#@& and jeopardize there holiday.. so when the member called me I said I dont have to give you an explanation,,,and I left it that way...I did my best as allways,,,now for my troubles I am stuck with a part I will never use again and a bad review on angies list,,,now 10 months later I dought they are still together and I will not hurt anyones feelings,,,good luck to all and smile at your wave at your neighbor....

Recently, our Maytag clothes dryer failed to heat up. I called the place where we purchased it, only to find they no longer sold nor serviced the Maytag line. They gave me a referral to the local Maytag Service Center, which was closed by the time I called. I decided to check them out on Angie's list and the Better Business Bureau... and did not like what I found. I searched Angie's List for an alternative, and found Appliance Express. The next morning I called and happily found that Larry McClure could come by early that same afternoon. Larry called when he headed for my home, giving me his "GPS estimated time of arrival". Larry arrived precisely on time, took a few minutes to listen to my description of the problem, and then gave the dryer a try... and, of course, it fired right up! Noting that it is a bit harder to figure out the problem when it is working, he walked through his logic for identifying the probable fault. He gave me an estimate to correct same, which I approved. He had the requisite part in his truck, and the whole process (disassembly, part exchange, reassembly) was done very quickly, and all seemed right with the dryer, but Larry did say to call him right away if the problem had not been fixed. Unfortunately, that evening the dryer once again failed to heat up. This time, based on my conversations with Larry, I did a little more rigorous data collection, listening to the various sounds the dryer made and timing the sequences. The next morning I called Appliance Express and left a message with my findings, and Larry quickly called me back to arrange another visit. Again, Larry called when about 15 minutes away. When he arrived he noted that the better data on the failure characteristics caused him to revise his understanding of the problem, and in less than 5 minutes he replaced two small solenoid coils that controlled the gas valve at no additional cost to me and was on his way. Ever since, the dryer has functioned perfectly.
