American Sewer

Cost proposal was given and accepted before work began. Cost quoted was same cost as identified on American Sewer's site on Angie's List. Work was done in about 1/2 hour. Confirmed cleanout via flushing of cold water from house system. Work cleanup was thorough.

Joe came early on Monday morning and proceeded to snake the drain. The sink now drains perfectly. I mentioned to Joe that I would probably have to replace my basement toilet because it had a flushing problem. He offered to look at it and discovered that the ports were filled with calcium deposits. He took a wire coat hanger and cleaned out the ports. It now flushes properly. Not only did he save me the cost of replacing the toilet, he didn't charge me anything extra for this work. Only 80 bucks for all this work - you can bet that I'll call them when I need some more work done.

I was generally satisfied with the service, but was asked for a $20 "love payment" (?cash payment not in the invoice?) because the call went over 1 hour. I checked the coupon and original Big Deal advertisement and no where did it say the cost only purchased 1 hour of service. The service provider ran into some problems, but seemed to be able to do the service I had purchased and pointed out another, larger problem that kept him from being able to fix the problem completely. After some initial confusion, he was able to determine the reason my toilet tank took so long to fill and was able to fix it by installing a new value.

I was immediately both impressed and appreciative of Jonathan corresponding over the weekend, something I didn't expect. We quickly arranged a time for him to come over and assess and fix a toilet issue that has been plaguing me for quite some time. When he got longer on the job before me, he called twice to let me know his ETA. He did an excellent job fixing the issue at an incredibly good price. I really appreciated his flexibility, too, in that I called him in response to one of the Angie's list online deals and the work turned out to be something a bit different. I found him to be fair, honest and someone who conducts business with integrity. I'd definitely use him again in the future.

I called Jon to ask him about details of a coupon offered thru Angie's list. He answered all my questions promptly and set up an appointment for the next day. The men arrived promptly and and worked quickly and efficiently. They explained what they were doing and made recommendations but never tried to sell me anything thing that I did not need. I was impressed by their integrity. The cost of the job was well-worth it. If needed, I would hire them again in a minute.

Jonathan is fabulous to interact with; he is honest, considerate, knowledgeable, timely. I had a concern about my sewer system and he called me back within a half hour like his web site states....set up a date/time...on the day he was to stop over we communicated several times via phone and he provided honest suggestions, etc. It's great to find people in this world who still believe in great customer service and provide reliable/dependable service. Thank you Jonathan for your honesty in my situation...so appreciated.

On the way in and out of the house to bring in his equipment he noticed that my door closer was broken. He took a look at it and said he could fix it with two screws. It has worked great ever since (and this is the 4th door closer I've had since I moved into the house in '08). He also noticed that I had a box of oil sitting outside by my house and asked if my car burned oil (yes!) and said he had a buddy whose car did that and he bought a certain kind of oil that helped stop that. (I've forgotten which brand, and I need to ask), but as a single parent with no clue about things like auto oil, I was so thankful for that extra tidbit and also extremely thankful to have a working door again!

We had 3 drains in our basement that were slow draining and backing up. Our utility room floor drain was completely backed up and we had a pool of water starting to spread towards the carpeted area in our basement. I researched companies that perform drain cleaning services in the area through Angie's List and read a number of great reviews for American Sewer. They had an online service price of $89 for a main line sewer cleaning (which I thought was the problem) so I purchased the coupon online. I called and spoke with them around 9 a.m. and described the problem. They informed me they had a job not far from my residence and could be over immediately following that job. They called when they were wrapping up the previous job to let me know they were on their way and were at my residence within 20 minutes as promised. After listening to my issues and observing the situation they promptly brought in their gear, put on shoe covers to not dirty our floors and got to work. They promptly completed the job, tested out their work and then brought me down to visually prove to me that they had cleared the clogs and that water was draining quickly. Turns out I didn't need a main line sewer cleaning and they were happy to swap out the coupon and give credit for what was already paid. They provided a 50% discount on each subsequent line they cleaned. I didn't have a checkbook or cash on hand and had planned to pay with my debit card. Unfortunately they prefer to not take credit cards (understandable, but slightly inconvenient). They offered to follow me to my bank on their way to their next job so I could withdraw the balance due from the ATM, which was very much appreciated so I didn't have to go to the nearest ATM and incur the fees and surcharges. Overall a GREAT experience, good price, prompt, professional and quality service! I will definitely call out the American Sewer crew again in the future if I need to have additional pipes and lines cleaned and I highly recommend anyone use their services instead of a chain like Roto Rooter or others.

He called before arriving within time specified and performed a thorough cleanout of the drain and trap. There was no muss of fuss and he was done in a very short time. We'd definitely use him again if need be and recommend him enthusiastically.

Late Friday night my sewer line backed up somewhere between my house and the street. I called Jonathon around 8:30am on Saturday hoping for the best, but knowing that it was a weekend. I left a message and he called back within 10 minutes. He informed me there would be a reasonable extra charge for a weekend call out. We agreed on a price and a time and he arrived exactly as planned. 60 minutes after arrival he was completed and on his way. Courteous and professional all the way.

Jonathon and Joe were very friendly. They were on time and did a great job. We found them through Angie's list and used their coupon.They came to inspect our line to the street. Once I saw that was clear, I asked them for a price to clean the 3 drains in our laundry room. They gave me a good price, and cleaned up any mess that was made. I would use their services again.

It turned out to be a messy and smelly job in a cramped space, but they were highly professional and competent, not only clearing the drain quickly and thoroughly but cleaning up the mess afterwards. No trouble with that drain since then--we're very pleased.

I purchased a Big Deal for drain cleaning plus toilet tune up and called on a Friday to schedule an appointment. Jonathan answered the phone and was very polite. He asked if it was an emergency, and I said no, it was not a critical issue, so we scheduled something for Wednesday of the next week. I work during the day, and he was able to accommodate my schedule and meet me at 5 pm. On the day of the appointment, he called in the morning to confirm that we were still on for meeting at 5:00. He and his helper arrived promptly, put covers over their shoes before entering the house, and got started right away. Jonathan said the drain had a soft blockage and he used an auger to clear the drain. He also performed a toilet tune up as part of the big deal. He noticed the water was filling the tank very quickly, and this could be an issue if the drain is ever clogged completely because the overflow would be significant. He therefore adjusted the water flow. He also checked the internal parts of the toilet and said everything was in good shape. The appointment was finished in about 20 minutes. It is great to have the toilet working again! Jonathan was great to work with and i will definitely call on him again for this type of issue.

Jonathan did a great job cleaning out the bathroom sink drain. The water went down at about 5 times the rate that it was going down before the cleaning. Jonathan is also quite jovial and lively!

Jon and his partner were very easy to work with. They scheduled me the day after I called, arrived on time, and did exactly as I requested. They were able to clear out my very stuck sink drain and were very friendly and respectful. One additional part was needed beyond the quote and was very reasonably priced. They even caulked my sink to wall for no extra charge. Great experience - will call them if/when I need work again in the future.

They did a great job and were very knowledgeable. They explained everything they were doing and why. They even did a follow up call to make sure everything was working ok and when I told them I had a dripping knob, they came back out right away the next day and fix it.

I paid for the $99 main sewer/video inspection coupon deal and he found that our main line was not the issue with our basement drain backflowing. Jonathan was so kind to swap the main sewer line cleaning for the true problem - a block in the pipes just below the concrete where the junction was with the kitchen sink pipe and other pipes meeting. I mentioned a slow drainage in the bathroom sink and they found about an 18" cord of sludge and hair and checked to make sure it was all cleaned out also from the sink drain all the way down to the problem area (they found still more sludge that many drain cleaners might have missed).He checked the shower we mentioned, and he suggested we don't get that cleaned out since it didn't seem to be posing a problem that he could see - he's careful not to clean out anything that doesn't need it. He also cleaned out the tub drain and replaced an old, broken trap. We noticed much faster drainage in all these areas after he snaked them out! For services beyond the coupon deal he does charge for extra services, of course, but he was reasonably priced and VERY thorough, making sure you do not get ripped off. The icing on the cake was his and his partner, Joe's, fabulous attitudes and honesty! They greeted us with bright smiles and with very cool handmade crocks in hand that go over their boots in order to save your flooring.

I took advantage of an Angie,s list coupon and scheduled an appt with Jon. He arrived on time znd was professional. At my request he replaced some parts and I paid only for the parts and no additional labor. Great job.
