American Sewer

Service technician came at rescheduled time and was ready to go. He went over the whole process and made sure all my questions where answered. After replacing the main cleanout cap there was a small leak that developed shortly after he left. Technician came back at the end of his work day with a remedy and the leak has not returned.

I turned to Angie's List because I was looking for a professional that I could trust to provide excellent service of my sewer line problem. Jonathan, the owner of American Sewer, exceeded my expectations. American Sewer was prompt, reliable and cost-effective. But my story does not end there. What was most impressive is that Jonathan took the time to figure out how to help me when it became clear that cleaning the sewer line did not entirely solve the problem. Jonathan was one the phone immediately with his a plumber that he knew and trusted, Ben Betz. They worked together to develop a solution to the problem and Jonathan came back to the home to perform additional work that ended up saving me considerable money. Jonathan could have walked away when his portion of the work was completed and left me with an expensive alternative to avoid the risk of the the sewer line backing up but he did not do this. Instead, he came up with a creative and cost-effective way to avoid this risk and allow Ben to complete the plumbing work. Throughout the entire situation, Jonathan stayed in contact with me. I would highly recommend American Sewer for sewer repair/work and I would also highly recommend Ben Betz, of Betz Plumbing, LLC. Like Jonathan, Ben was honest, reliable and cost-effective. I would not hesitate to hire both Jonathan and Ben again for any additional work in the future.

Called on a Friday afternoon and was scheduled for Monday 12:00-2:00. About 11:00they called to say they were on a job that might take longer than anticipated. Asked if this was all right or if I needed to reschedule. Told them to come when other job was done. Delay was only 45 minutes and still within 12:00-2:00 . Very much appreciated their courtesy. Arrived and examined problem. Access was difficult but was able to clear drain through alternate route. Entire procedure took less than 45 minutes. Room was left clean and fresh. Professional, courteous, knowledgeable, pleasant service personnel.

I called the main number and spoke with the owner. I mentioned that we were just interested in getting our sewer cleaned and saw that Angie List members got a special $89 deal. He asked what days would work and whether they could come later that day. I was working from home that day, so said, "sure!" His technician Joe came a couple hours later, as expected. He promptly found the sewer cap in the utility room in our basement and brought his equipment into the house. He laid down sheets to protect our basement floors from any dirt -- a nice touch. Joe asked if we needed our basement drain cleaned as well, something that should be done every 5 years or so. I said I wasn't sure if it needed it, as it hasn't been overflowing and we've only lived in the house a couple years. He filled our basement utility sink with water and then drained it to test it. He showed me how the basement drain was very close to overflowing and probably would start in the next couple months. He said cleaning that drain would be an extra $80, and so I agreed. He used a six-inch blade to clean out our sewer and only encountered one obvious tree root (from the big maple out front) while cleaning the line. And he said he used the blade made it through smoothly, suggesting our sewer line is in good shape. I asked whether we should consider a camera inspection, just to be sure. He said they charge an extra $100 for that but didn?t think we needed it since we haven?t had issues with our sewer and the cleaning was so easy. He said we should get our sewer line cleaned every two years or so -- sooner, obviously, if we encounter any issues. Next he cleaned out our basement drain, which also only took about 10-15 minutes. Joe was very friendly and didn't mind me watching him clean out the sewer and drain and ask questions. He seemed to truly enjoy his work, was honest and had offered some great tips about sewer maintenance. I expect we'll hire American Sewer again next time we need our sewer lines cleaned!

Two months ago, so hard to remember, but they were on time and very professional. My fault I did not read fine print which stated there was additional charge for out of metro which I felt was quite high at the time. We live in Chanhassen.

Both Jonathan -owner - and Joe, technician, came out & both were surprised at the water back up. Found out that there was some issue on the original clean out of my 150' main line, and it was stopped up completely. Some of the issue may have been from my communication, some from the company. We agreed on an hour of warranty work and I would pay for any additional time. Joe put two reels on the machine and did the main all the way out to the street. He heard the backed up water free from the obstruction and drain fully. All is working as expected today. In my mind, the real measure of a relationship is when it hits some rocky patches. Having water backed up in my basement and calling them back was a real rocky patch for me. Jonathan explained his viewpoint, I explained mine, and an agreeable solution was reached between us. Work was performed and it is all working well now. Relationship of making it right, while not taking on undue expenses was tactfully negotiated by Jonathan. Joe was professional, friendly and prompt. I will continue to use this company and recommend them to anyone who asks.

I called to set up an appointment shortly after 7 am and Jon was able to give me an approximate time of 12-2 pm for arriving to do the work. He called shortly after 12, arrived just before 1 pm and finished the job at 2 pm. He put down drop cloths where the heavy machine would have to travel over our carpet and did an excellent job of cleaning up after the work was finished. I was able to pay by credit card which was convenient since my wife had the checkbook and was at work. I've had the same work performed by other companies over the past decade (this is an ongoing problem) and Jon was the quickest and most professional of all the plumbers so far. In addition, the price was lower than all other estimates.

After calling one of his competitors (a highly rated Angie's List company whom we've used many times before) and not getting a call back after 3 days of waiting, I called found American Sewer on Angie's List, bought the $89 main sewer Big Deal, and dialed the phone. John (owner) picked up immediately and was out in less than 24 hours. It did cost me $80 more (a 2nd hour of work) as he decided to also clean the mainline from back of house to front which apparently needed work as well. Will use American again in the future.

Very good experience - Jonathan arrived within a couple of hours of our call, paid a lot of attention to keeping things neat and clean, and fixed the clog promptly. I thought the charges for his service were fair and reasonable - I would definitely call him again whenever we have that next clogged line!

Excellent from start to finish. Excellent communication. Extremely responsive, professional, informative. Completely prompt. Work was done in a highly professional manner with very good communication regarding results of work. Jonathan communicated with me about expectations of service and to advise me that Joe would be the service provider to show up at our house. Both were great. Joe performed the work in a very timely manner, was professional, did a nice job of explaining exactly what he did and what the results were, and did a good job of cleaning up after himself. He then asked whether I had any questions and spent another 5 - 10 minutes offering me advice on two different issues in the house - including taking the (free of charge) to change the water fill level of a toilet in our upstairs). I rate these guys highly and would definitely use them again.

Service technician called prior to arriving and was great about explaining process and was very personable. Sewer pipe was inspected, while I watched video monitor, and cleaning was not needed in the end. Technician also inquired about drain cleaning but tested laundry sink drain to see if cleaning was needed, and was upfront and honest about lack of need for cleaning right now.

.Joe arrived on time, did a TV of my sewer, cleaned it, did another TV and was off. Just like that. My cleanout is about 150' +/- from the City Sewer line. Joe avoided using second reel of auger by using the cleanout in my neighbor's yard which connects to my line. TV'd both lines both before and after cleaning. Cleaned his equipment and my garage really well. Highly recommend them

The appointment went well. They arrived on time and did their work efficiently. Solved the drain problem, corrected it and left with everything clean and functional.

They came when they said they would but the problem was a broken pipe. They tried several bits to get through but they could not due to the broken pipe.

They were prompt, very professional, and told us the main floor drain did not need to be cleaned. We appreciated their honesty since we would have went to the expense of cleaning the main drain. The pair of workers arrived on time. Quickly assessed what needed to be completed. Gave me a quote on the work to be done. Started work immediately after I authorized it. The whole process took only an hour to complete . I watched the before and after videos of the sewer line inspection as it was performed. Very professional start to finish. Couldn't be happier.

My laundry + basement floor drains were majorly backed up. Called American Sewer first thing on a Monday and they were able to squeeze me in the very same day. Gave me an approximate time range and also called when they were within 30 minutes. Jon was very friendly and professional, and was in and out in no time. Great experience!

Was good and relieved my concerns that there may be a blockage in the sewer drain.

I purchased the Angies List deal for $99 which included a video inspection and up to 1 hour of main line sewer cleaning. I have owned my home for 3 years and I totally overlooked having the main sewer line inspected when I purchased the home... which I now know is a smart thing to do! My floor drain in the basement had been draining slowly, so for an additional cost, I had this cleaned out. The floor drain was insanely gross and desperately needed a good cleaning. I'm very glad I got it cleaned out before there was a larger problem. Jonathan was incredibly responsive; he answered my phone call late yesterday afternoon, and scheduled an appointment at my home for this morning at 8... there was no time wasted! I am a realtor and plan on suggesting American Sewers and their video inspections to my Buyers and Sellers. The gentleman that came to my home this morning was on time and professional. I felt like I learned more about how my sewer works and I felt very comfortable with the way the video inspection was presented; I was confident that he was telling me the truth and I now feel at ease with the condition of my sewer line & floor drain and I know what to expect down the road. Oh, and he cleaned up after himself... even though I told him I'm planning on having my basement floors and walls painted in the next couple of days. Now my basement smells like Mr. Clean, much better than it did before he got there. Definitely a nice finishing touch! Thank you!
