American Sewer

Did a great job. Called this morning, they were there this afternoon. On time.

I called him to clear a chronically slow draining laundry tub. It was a marginal situation since the washing machine drained into the tub and was still usable with no overflow of the tub. But it seemed to drain more slowly than other sinks in the house that also had 1-1/2" traps. He ran the snake down the 2" drain pipe in the floor and said he could tell there was some sort of hard obstruction near where the pipe joined the main stack under the basement floor concrete (about 5 ft away). He worked the snake cutter for a couple of minutes and eventually cut through the obstruction--whatever it was. After reconnecting the trap, the drain was free flowing and gurgled like never before. Before the snaking, the laundry tub basin (when filled to the rim) took 3 minutes 26 seconds to drain. After the snaking, it took 1 minute 48 seconds to drain. About half the time. Excellent work.

These guys are great, They arrived when promissed, he knew exactly what to do and did it, and my floor drain is now free and clear of any blockage.

I purchased a Big Deal from American Sewer and redeemed it a few months later. John was very accommodating in setting a time and we decided on a 2-hour block of time during which they could come. On the day of service, I was not home until the beginning of the scheduled block, but arrived home to find two messages from Joe. He was simply reminding me of the appointment at the scheduled time. I called him back, he finished the job he was doing and arrived soon after that. He helped my very nervous dog feel comfortable, which was nice. I had planned to have the inspection done from an outdoor cleanout, but he was afraid he might miss something, so he used the indoor cleanout. He was very pleasant and thorough in all that he was doing. While he was working, John stopped just to see if everything was okay.

Was quoted a time and they actually called an hour early to let me know that the drain cleaning tech was on the way. The tech arrived ten minutes later and had the job complete within 45 minutes. Tech cleaned up after himself and tested work in front of me to make sure everything was OK. Great Job by this tech and company.

It went well. Kind of hairy getting down our narrow steep steps (bungalow) into the basement, but he managed.

Overall, it went well. I did have trouble getting them to come to the house to start with. With a sewer backup we couldn't use the toilets or shower without having more water backup, so it was critical that we had someone come as quickly as possible. We scheduled American to be at our house between 4-6 pm on the scheduled day. They called and said it would be difficult to make it. So we had to wait until the next day...which can seem like an eternity when you can't flush your toilets. The next day, someone came in the afternoon and performed the work. In addition, I ordered an Angie's List Deal to have this done, but the owner said that he couldn't accept the coupon because there are too many people using them and it was cutting into their margins. So now I have a coupon that will expire before I'm going to actually use it. So I spent $99 that I'll never get back. Update 12/13/12 - I talked with the owner and was able to get my money back with respect to the angie's list coupon. I have updated my ratings to reflect the pricing as well as other areas that I had graded poorly. In the end, we had an unfortunate misunderstanding that was quickly resolved. With that, I do recommend this company as they did fine work once they were able to be at the house. However, I still think that the angie's list coupons should clearly state that they cannot be used on same day service. In addition, I think there should be a refund option for the coupons if they do indeed turn out to be not what was wanted. The latter is something I will suggest to Angie's List.

They were very good, I thought they did a very nice job. There was difficulty finding the clean-out and after they found it they took a video of the whole event. The only downside was I was charged an additional $40 for the time it took them to find it. It would be beneficial to know what we need to locate before they come out.

No issues. They employees seemed experienced and knowledgeable.

Contacted the company and they scheduled to come out within five days. Viewed the sewer system-did some trimming. Ran over the hour allotted so we paid an additional $20. Were in and out-cleaned up satisfactorily-very pleasant and efficient.

Sunday night we realized our main drain was backup in our basement. I checked Angie's List and saw that American Sewer was a local company and offered a great discount to members. I called and Jonathan, the owner answered while at a dinner and offered to come out later that night but it would cost more (as it should). We decided to wait till Monday and they said they would be here between 11-1 and they here by 12:45. They called when they were headed over to let us they were on their way. They laid down tarps to protect our carpets and quickly cleared our main drain which had roots about 60 ft out from the house. Both men were very friendly and we will definitely use them again. When I got the coupon, I called to make an appointment. He called back the same day, and made an appointment for about a week out. He came on time and figured out the problem with 1/2 hr. He gave me some options and estimate of cost.

He arrived at the time we set up and cleaned the basement floor drain. After that was finished he had me fill the first floor kitchen sink and first floor laundry tube and let them drain to see if the problem was solved. We found out the kitchen drain was partially blocked. I had him unclog that while he was there. We filled both sinks and when we drained them everything worked like new. He was very professional and pleasant to work with. He also explained what he was doing and told me the price up front before the work was done. He cleaned up after the job was done, although there really wasn't that much to clean. I Would will recommend American Sewer to anyone I know that are in need of drain cleaning.

I utilized a Angies LIst coupon for a main line inspection and cleaning. The technician was very thorough and showed me everything he was seeing. My lines were very clean so no additional work was need, but he did take the time to look at a couple of drains that lead into the main line to make sure nothing upstream was an issue. While he was there I had him look at a couple of slow moving drains. He explained my options and gave me an estimate on the spot and did the work. He was very conscientious of leaving the bathroom very clean after the work. i would use them again.g.

Cleaning went well. Courteous, efficient.

Water from the floor drain would back up slightly when the waching machine drained. My own equipment could not clean out the drain entirely. Quick response to our call and he quickly cleaned out the drain

We found out on Tuesday that our main line was very clogged with tree roots and that if we had a big gathering of people over for Thanksgiving, we'd probably be in big trouble. We called Jonathan and arranged to have him come over the following day, the day before Thanksgiving. On Wednesday he called and asked if he could come a little earlier - which turned out to be a good move as the line was very blocked and it took him longer than usual to clear it out. We appreciated how quickly Jonathan was able to respond. The price was good and we feel he did a good and thorough job.

Contact to set up service date, completed promptly. Date of service, Joe come in promptly, explained service we paid for. We added a floor drain inspection as well, due to worker in home, and suspecting possible issues. Turned out the inspection confirmed we had no issues here. Money well spent, as we did not want to have issues going into winter with our drains/ sewer. Video inspection was very enlightening.

The service provider called to tell me his arrival time and arrived on time. He was very knowledgeable and answered my questions. He replaced a broken cover with the appropriate type of cap instead of what was previously used. He was efficient and helpful. He was polite. I will be using this service again. American Sewer was great. I asked for a card to keep in my call back file. I like to have the sewer cleaned out every 2-3 years for preventive care. I will be calling American Sewer.

Did a great and quick job of cleaning out our clogged branch line and then did a thorough inspection of our main sewer line for blockages.

I received an immediate reply to my call and Jonathan was able to come out the next day to accommodate our tight schedule. He was professional and courteous and his price was very reasonable for the amount of time he spent working with us. This is the second time I have used him and will call upon him again in the future.

Service was good. Used an Angie's List Super Deal, so I think the price was o.k. The toilet flushes well now and the floor drain is once again draining, so we got what we hoped for.

Called Friday morning and spoke to the owner Jonathon. He said he would try to fit me in that day. I told him it was not an emergency so that it could wait until next week, if necessary. Jonathon reconfirmed that he thought he could do it and would call 30-45 minutes before arrival to be sure I was home. He was very pleasant and professional on the phone. At about 2:00 PM Jonathon's partner Joe called and said he would be here within the hour. Joe arrive as stated and went right to work. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it with minimum mess and thorough cleanup. Joe was very pleasant and professional. He strongly recommended a lint trap for the discharge hose from the washing machine to reduce drain clogging. In fact he had one with him and installed it free of charge. I will definitely use American Sewer next time I need this type of service.

Smoothly! Jonathan was on time and got right to work. He answered all of my questions and even gave me advice on how to fix a problem on my own. We wouldn't use anyone else.
