American Sewer

I used the coupon from Angie's list for the main line sewer cleaning. After paying for the coupon, I called to set up an appt and was pleasantly surprised when I told that there was a guy in the neighborhood that day and he would be around in an hour or two and that the service man would call as he was leaving his previous job. I told John( I think- anyway, the appt taker) that I had 1 hour parking in front of my house and to tell the service man to park in the back(I have alley access). An hour and half passes and I hear someone coming in the downstairs back door( I was one flight up). I came down to find the service man coming in my house. I said, " I was told you would call when you were on your way". He said, "That would have been a good idea." Before attempting to remove the rubber cap to access the drain, he said he'd have to replace the cap as he didn't know if he could remove it without destroying it(previous drain cleaner had successfully removed and re-installed the same cap at least one time). He proceeded to run the snake to clean the drain and was completed in about half the time as previous drain cleaners ( I have no idea if he was quick or others were slow - others cost twice as much). The drain remains clean as I write this (1/2/13), so it worked. He replace the drain cap at a cost of $20 with a really crappy cap that left 3" of threaded bolt exposed for someone to cut themselves on. After finishing the drain cleaning. He asked if I paper towels to clean up all the muck in the bathroom(I expected him to supply this) and when finished, he dumped the wet towels in bathroom waste basket. It had to be tossed because of the smell.

Jonathan was all I had hoped for from an Angie's List professional. He was on time, tidy, good value, very professional--and he even offered to repair a small plumbing problem he noticed for no additional cost. (Unfortunately, I couldn't take him up on the offer at the time because I had to get to work, but he said he would stop by another time to complete the repair.)

Couldn't believe our good fortune when Jonathan was able to come out on 12/31. He cleaned our main sewer line from house to street (100 ft.) with very little mess or problems. He went WAY above the call of duty by helping me to remove and then reinstall our electric chair in the stairwell in able to get his machine downstairs. I highly recommend American Sewer! Thanks, Jonathan for a job done well!!

Very impressed with the customer service and the professionalism. Jonathan was on time (even a bit early) and was very helpful - whole process took about a half an hour. Would highly recommend this company to anyone needing this service. I will be calling them back in the next couple of months to clean the sewer lines.

We had a sewer backup and searched Angie's list for a highly rated sewer company and they were near the top and had a special. They sent out a very professional worker and fixed the issue fast with little mess. They were running a $89 special and they exceeded our expectations. We will defiantly use them in the future.

The technician arrived within the time window given. He was very polite and professional. He explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. The service went very smoothly and much faster than I had anticipated. I would recommend this company to anyone needing drain cleaning services. I felt their service was superior to other companies I have used and their price was half of what other companies charge. I will definitely use this company again in the future.

We bought a Big Deal for cleaning and inspection. 2 guys came out and they did a great job. The video was perfect, because you could really see what was going on with your sewer. They worked hard at getting the roots out and suggested I get it cleaned every 2-3 years. I will use them again.

Jonathan arrived on time and performed the service as expected. He was a very nice individual and very professional. Turned out our main line was in perfect shape but he still performed the service and inspection as promised. We would happily use their services again.

The process went very smoothly. I am very happy with the service! Jonathon returned my phone call right a way and I was able to schedule service that worked best for me (he would have even come out right away if I needed). He arrived when he said he was going to be there. I was very happy that there was only a one hour window to wait. Jonathon was very courteous and professional. He completed the job within 45 minutes and let me know what the problem was. I will definitely call him for future drain/sewer cleaning!

Jonathan has done work for us a few times and always does a great job. He makes sure it gets done right and is very courteous and professional. Cleaned up the water from the floor before leaving too.

We had sewer water backing up into the basement through the floor drain while washing a large load of clothes. I thought we needed the line cleaned to the street. American Sewer came out and discussed with me what the possibilities were and why this was happening. We ended up needing a cleanout from our basement bathroom (less expensive) to the laundry room (where the backup was occuring). The guy was pretty quick doing his job and very thorough explaining what was happening and why.

I called on Wednesday to see when they could come out and snake our main drain. I work afternoons and my wife works days so we were limited when we could be here for the service. They came the next day right after my wife got off work. Our drain would drain but was too slow. I figured it would be a quick job... so did they. What they found could have only existed in a movie, so it would seem. There was sludge all through the line and roots 3/4 of the way out. Joe was here 6 hours for what we all figured would be less than an hour. Now our drain is clear! All the way to the city sewer, it was verified that it is intact, as well as the drains that were plugged by the previous owner. I figured we would have to get a second mortgage to pay for all that went on, but was pleasantly surprised at what we were charged for all the trouble they (and we) endured. I managed to get home just before Joe left. Joe handled the task with expertize and professionalism. Cleaned up on his way out and gave me a quick summary before he left. Would I use them again? Absolutely. Will I recommend them? To every one I know.

The guys showed up on time and were very professional. They knew a lot about what they were doing and answered all of my questions. They did a good job as far as I can tell. I recommended them to a coworker and they did a nice job for him too!

Excellent. Very personable and friendly.

It went very well. They checked my sewer and found some roots in the sewer which they were able to remove. They scheduled another check up two years out. They also cleared a clog in my upstairs bathroom sink. The best part is not having to worry when the sewer is going to back up and flood the basement.

Punctual, professional, and didn't do work that didn't need doing. I would definitely call him again.

Caqme on time, cleaned the drain and drain overflow, fixed toilet. Did not charge any extras over coupon value.

Company was unable to do drain inspection with the camera due to peculiar construction of the sewer pipe, but they did flush the drain. I was disatisfied with what was done but not because of the company, because of the way the pipe was constructed. I think the price should have been lowered since they were unable to do everything promised.

With the ground now frozen and not being able to dig to the pipe and get it fixed, Jonathan said that over the course of the winter, should I have a backup, to call him and he would be happy to help keep the drain cleared until I can rectify the problem in the spring. He has always been very kind and very helpful, and a pleasure to work with, and I encourage anyone who is having drain issues to consider using him first before anyone else. Kitchen sink plugged up in the late afternoon. We needed the sink fixed ASAP even though it was after normal working hours. Jon came out within 30 minutes, and did an outstanding job snaking out the drain to about 50 feet. Highly recommend this company for drain cleaning, A++++++++

They called to tell us when they were coming, arrived on time, and worked quickly. They even fixed a minor issue with the sink's stopper at no extra charge. We will definitely use them again!

The service arrived on time and scheduling was done by phone. I knew we were overdue to have the sewer cleaned & as a result, it appeared to take some doing on the worker's part to get through the tree roots. We had the floor drain cleaned as well, which seemed expensive, but rather than contract with another service at a later date, we decided to have it done right then. Other services were offered to and it wasn't long before I felt "upsold." It felt like the $99 was to get in the door & then sell as many other services as possible. I didn't have a good feeling b/c the two workers were commenting to each other about how bad the sewer was, so it might indicate that the floor drain ALSO really needed cleaning. It also seemed very important to ALSO clean the drain in the washtub. While it may well have been, i felt the object was to sell as many other services as possible. I did not perceive that all the suggested cleanings were truly needed. I will not hire this company again.

I was very pleased with this service. My experience with other providers is that they are late, rude and expensive. American Sewer showed up on short notice. They were very courteous and did they job in a short amount of time. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. We will be using American Sewer for all our plumbing needs.

Overall, American Sewer did a good job, and the toilets are working properly again. The two servicemen showed up as scheduled and got to work quickly. They started with the upstairs first, then moved to the basement to scope the main line. Neither of the toilets was clogged at the time they came. Nonetheless, I was expecting it to be messy work, but they kept the work site clean and neat. There was some confusion around pricing, as the company had two Angie's List specials running at the time. Before booking, I explained the situation and asked Jon which deal would be more appropriate. He kept going back & forth on the phone and, ultimately, persuaded me to not use either deal, saying their normal pricing would be cheaper. When they were here working, I questioned, again, whether one of the specials would be more economical. Again, he went back & forth, as the work wasn't exactly the same as either special and, instead, included small portions of each. It was very confusing and, in the end, he charged me some hybrid rate that was slightly more than the specials. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say the rate was reasonable, but the conversation shouldn't have been so confusing or difficult. Regardless, we are pleased with the work.

American Sewer was very prompt, polite, and did a great job.
