American Sewer

The company was willing to wait several months to schedule this service so my husband could be home at the time. Very professional and informative. I would recommend them -- especially to fellow Golden Valley residents who need to have their sewer lines checked before selling a home. Our line was in good shape and that's good to know, especially at this low price.

Early in the evening of a Tuesday night, right after I had started a load of dishes in the dishwasher and dinner in the oven, I began to smell something odd, somewhat like canned dog food. It wasn't particularly bad from the front of the house but the odor lingered and seemed to be everywhere and, frustratingly, I couldn't place or find the source of the smell - until much later in the evening went I walked into a bathroom in the back of the house to which the door had been, more or less, closed. I was almost bowled over by what smelled like sewage. I immediately panicked and started looking for 24 hour sewer cleaners, but unable to find one who answered the phone, and on further examination of every drain in the house, all I could find was what looked like vomit on the floor of my main bathroom shower - carrots and green beans clearly identifiable. Yum! Anyway, once I realized I wasn't facing a sewer problem, and after reading through many, many Angie's List reviews, I left a message for Jon (this was by now after midnight) who contacted me early the next day to arrange an appointment. Ben (Jon's brother) arrived by 1:00 or so and by now the smell was actually gone - though in what I'm sure Ben considered a thoughtful gesture :-), I left the "vomit" as evidence of what had started all this. He tried to recreate the problem, but being unsuccessful diagnosed what was probably a temporary food clog far down in the kitchen drain that had caused the stuff I found in the shower to re-route itself. Anyway, to be sure the clog was in fact gone, he cleaned the drain and - problem solved. The whole visit took about an hour from start to finish. Ben arrived when he said he would and was pleasant and professional. He was extremely kind and polite, non-invasively chatty and very efficient. Would hire again if needed, no problem!

We called in on Saturday saying the main drain was draining really slow. we asked for advice and they said it was most likely tree roots. Since it was nothing overly serious, we asked for an appointment for Monday early evening. They had time and advised us to not use the dish washer, washer, or take any baths. On Monday, they called to let us know they could get there early, if it was okay. We did have them over earlier. While there, they worked quickly and efficiently to finish under an hour to save us money. After cleaning the drain, they cleaned the whole area with bleach. The man performing the work was very courteous and friendly. There were no problems afterwards.

He arrived and was concerned that it might take more time because he had to move the washer in order to get to the main line. And he also thought that he might need to charge me for a new cap. None of this turned out to be a problem and did not cause the cost to be more than we had prepaid.

Johnathan arrived on time and repaired a toilet that would stick open when flushed. His staff also cleared a drain in our utility room clogged by the salt from our water softener. They were very professional and efficient. They left the area clean and ready to use. He also answered a couple of questions we had. Overall a very good experience. We would definitely use him again.

The job took a considerable amount of time, but went well overall.

Done within an hour cleaned up mess after done. Very professional.

We called John and he was very efficient in his response. He knew exactly what needed to be done..he did it quickly and was pleasant to work with. We would definitely use American Sewer again.

Everything was good but I paid $99 on Angie's List, and the guy forgot and billed me $80. Because I already paid, I didn't get the lower price. the worker gave me $5 in cash that he had on him, but I still got charged $14 too much.

Jonathan was outstanding and the price was reso nable for same day weekend service. I will recommend him to others and plan to use his company for our future needs.

We are very happy with our experience with American Sewer. It took more time and money than we expected, but that was in no way their fault. They made sure the job got done right, instead of putting a band-aid on it. They clearly explained every step of their process, so we felt involved with all the decisions made. These guys don't play games and are trustworthy. We will absolutely be calling them again!

Woke up Wed. morning to a flooded utility room. Found laundry tub that water softener fed into clogged as well as clogged floor drain that did not help.Called American Sewer early Wed., morning and got a return call within mins.Was told they could come around 1 to 3pm. and they would cal anl hour before arrival. Missed call at 2:18. Luckily called second time at 2:45. Told me they would be back in area following afternoon. I said I really needed it taken care of that afternoon and without hesitation he said we're on the way. Met them at my house 15 mins. later and within 30 mins. both drains were cleared and they were on their way. Awesome!

Jonathan came during a snow storm to perform the work. He was courteous and informative. The work was completed in a timely manner. He also used drop cloths any debris. Would hire again.

Joe arrived on time and was friendly and conversational as I asked him questions and told him about the problem. He answered very professionally and honestly. He cleared the kitchen drain, tested it to make sure it was cleaned out, and he cleaned up the cabinet under the sink. I couldn't have asked for more in the way of a great service call.

Just moved into my house and the basement drain backed up. I left a message on the American Sewer website at 10:30pm, and when I checked the next morning, there had been a response 15 minutes after I left the original email! I spoke with the owner that morning and set up a date to have my sewer looked at. Jon was on time, friendly, fast and best of all answered all of my stupid questions about what and why he was doing. My sewer was 130 feet so I needed to pay for the extra feet. Tree roots were the problem and the sewer has been working just fine ever since! I couldn't be more satisfied!

Jonathan set up quickly and got right to work. He could have easily sat and continue to waste time with the cleaning but with his experience seeing that it wasn't going as expected instead of spending a lot of time trying to force the snake through Jonathan ran a camera into the pipe and found there was a break in the line saving time and of course lowering the cost for me. He gave me recommendations for quality companies to do the repair. I will have no problem calling him for future work!

They came on time, even though it was on very short notice, and they did a very good job. It gave us peace of mind when selling the home, since it was an older home. Their price was reasonable. They gave really accurate information.

Excellent job!!! He called ahead of the scheduled time and arrived promptly. Extremely friendly. The floor drain had been running slow and periodically backed up. He thoroughly cleaned it out several times, then checked to make sure it was clear by pouring large buckets of water into the drain. When he was finished, he wiped up the area he had been working in.

Our downstairs shower drain was backing up. It would back up when we used the bathroom and dishwasher on one side of the house. However, the bathroom in the main area of the house could still be used without any back up. We contacted American Sewer early in the morning and they came out the same day. They first ran a snake through the shower drain. Next, they went to the side of the house that seemed to cause the backup and he took the toilet off and ran a snake through the line. He then tried a much larger snake and it worked. He worked very diligently and professionally to make sure the problem was fixed.

Only thing that I found strange was that tech asked, and got, my help bringing heavy machine that cleans line downstairs to basement. Would think that if this is a 2 man job 2 men should come out

I set up an appointment online. Got an email from Jonathan pretty much right away. Scheduled the technician to arrive the following day -- was punctual and professional. Needed the main sewer line cleaned of roots. Job lasted < 1hr. Coureous and friendly. Will use again for future maintenance.

Arrived within quoted 2 hour window. Two plumbers were very professional and worked together to accomplish clearing of drain quickly. They also noticed that the faucet and drain cover needed to be resealed to prevent leaking and did so, included in the cost. Would definitely hire again!

I had a clogged sewer that needed urgent attention. I purchased a Big Deal, talked to Jonathan almost immediately, and he arranged to come as soon as possible. He did the work quickly, cleaned up thoroughly, and was very professional.

Superb service. Clear communication about when they would come, what they would do and how long it would take. Meticulous about laying down tarps and avoiding damage. Cleaned the drain and removed the blockage. Will call them again.

Wow. I can see why John and America Sewer receive such high marks on Angies list. This is exactly why I have a membership with Angies list, you never know what kind of service you'll need and who to call for excellent service. So, with many high marks on Angies I called America Sewer around 6pm the day the drain backed-up. John personally answered the phone and scheduled the appointment for the next day between 9am-12pm. However, after a few hours I realized how LONG that would be without an ability to have a clean drain line. So, I called John back around 8pm and asked if he could come sooner. He adjusted his schedule to arrive the next day at 8am. LIFESAVER! I would definitely use American Sewer (John) in the future and highly recommend American Sewer to anyone.
